"Great service at reasonable prices"

"Took my bicycle in for a service and they broke it"
"Went here last week to have a my sons bike chain repaired, No Messing about from the guys fixed in no time then went back today to have a new tyre and inner tube replaced"
"Took my grandsons bike, a voodoo from Halford, the left pedal had come off for the second time, and a new shaft is needed, only 9 months old not a good advert for Halford, or the Voodoo brand"
Great service at reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend for all biking needs. From novice to avoid riders. Probably best to call and make an appointment as they can get really busy but they will do their best to complete your job as quickly as possible. Not been disspointed by the service we have had. Just you be clear that each time I have used Butterfield's they have completed the service on same day but to be fair on them I would recommend booking in as their service is so good that they are sure to get booked up at some point so to avoid dissapointment and help them plan work load prob best to try and book in.
Avoid. I had a Genesis Day One 10 2019 delivered to this shop through Freewheel. When I got the bike home I noticed a scuff on the front left fork. I got in touch and they offered to either return the bike or knock £20 off and do a paint touch up. I opted for the latter and when I arrived the proprietor admitted that it was in the notes that the scuff existed and he just hadn't read them properly. Not impressed. To cap it off the paint they used to cover it up wasn't a match. This is what happens when you employ your teenage sons as mechanics. They won't be getting any repeat business from me.
Took my bicycle in for a service and they broke it. My bicycle was working fine before I took it in, it just needed a routine service. On it's return the rear gear was fine for a week or so and they became stuck. Took it to another shop and they showed me what had happened. Butterfield bicycles had incorrectly replaced the rear wheel, catching the rear gear cable and trapping it, ultimately causing it to become non-functional. Needles to say I won't be returning.
Went here last week to have a my sons bike chain repaired, No Messing about from the guys fixed in no time then went back today to have a new tyre and inner tube replaced. Fantastic service both times, Friendly staff, Very reasonable prices, Work done rapid will 100% use from now on every time a bike repair is required. Payment on pick up no pressure, Nice and relaxed feel to the place. Workmanship very high quality. Cheers.
Took my grandsons bike, a voodoo from Halford, the left pedal had come off for the second time, and a new shaft is needed, only 9 months old not a good advert for Halford, or the Voodoo brand. Luckily Peter says he can get it done.went in today as my gears weren't working properly, too much slack on the cable, but they sorted it out while I waited. You don't get that type of service in many places.
I have been thinking about buying a new bike but did not want to get one off the peg that may not have been right for me. Called into Butterfield Bicycles and I have to say the owner is Very Helpful, with Excellent knowledge, and really took the time with me to find out what I wanted out of my new bike. There is no way you would get the same service from a major high street dealer
Bought a bike from another company online , it arrived with messed up gearing. Decided to take it to Butterfield cycles my local bike shop, friendly and professional on arrival , clearly knowledgeable staff and fast efficient repair at a great price . I will be going here for all my bike needs from now on. Shop well laid out. I recommend to anyone in the Manchester area .
Bring your bike in Wednesday, it will be ready Thursday or Friday they said. Great, i thought, I can have it for weekend. Phoned Friday pm still wasn't ready, it's the next one on the rack (is this the 'cheque is in the post' excuse) It still wasn't ready on Saturday afternoon when I called in. I waited until they had 'fixed' it. After all that it still hasn't been fixed
Butterfield Bicycles have built quite a few bikes for me and also worked on my other bikes. I can honestly say that I can't recommend them highly enough; they have the level of service and attention to detail that is missing in the big shops. They built a bike for my daughter and she's thrilled with it. If you want something special these guys can make it.
Butterfield is THE place to go for a service/repair. Quick enough turnaround and always a top quality job. I’ve had pups of bikes go into there to emerge as absolute rocket ships. See attached photos of the total rebuild of my Pashley Mailstar rear wheel: awesome craftsmanship and great contacts used. Now to enjoy many more miles aboard!
I’m not exactly sure what the folks over at Butterfield Bicycles did, but my bike has never felt so good! They took a 1980s rattler with a bent fork, frame, and zero thread in the pedals and somehow managed to turn it into a speedy Gonzalez. They went beyond what I expected for the price so I’m really happy with the service. Thanks guys!
Useful note: The opening times on their WEBsite are completely different to their actual opening times. Real times are: Monday: CLOSED Tuesday: 9:00am to 5:30pm Wednesday: 9:00am to 5:30pm Thursday: 9:00am to 5:30pm Friday: 9:00am to 5:30pm Saturday: 9:30am to 4:00pm Sunday. CLOSED
Serviced my bike and it is now better than it was when new. Very impressive level of service and was ready to pick up at the promised time. And all for a very reasonable price with friendly helpful staff. I will definitely be using Butterfields in future. David Smith 01 March 2021
Fixed my bike for a good price and seem very knowledgeable. However, when I found the chain they replaced wasn't even lubed which is slightly worrying considering they've said everything is fixed and you paid the bill already and there's not even a drop of oil on the chain...
Stopped of as I had managed to cross thread my Peddle just before going off on a ride. They got it fixed in a manner of minutes, which saved my day. Great independent shop with great facilities. Friendly, welcoming staff. Well worth taking your bike to them.
10/10 service from Butterfield. They sorted an issue within days that three other shops failed to diagnose and sort. Quick turnaround, very competitive pricing and very friendly and relaxed. 100% recommend and it is now my go-to repair shop.
Formerly Neil Orrell cycles. The new owner has picked up where Neil left off..... genuinely helpful and very knowledgeable. I would recommend to anyone. Support your local small businesses or they will disappear.
Highly recommended - carried out several services and repairs on my bikes, always quality service and extremely reasonable prices. Down to earth and welcoming too, I know they’ll offer the right advice.
Not been on a bike for about at least 30 years. When I picked my bike up they just let me ride it out of the shop they did not sort the position and seat height out.Very disappointed
Really nice handy local shop. Very pleasant staff and great prices. Always helps to get me back on the road and cycling again. Very good for maintenance. Fast and reasonable
Highly recommended bike shop. Helped me out even though they were fully booked. Excellent customer service and value for money. Will definitely be back. Thanks again.
