Wanted coffee on a Sunday afternoon (restaurant we'd had lunch in didn't have coffee) so we had flat white, decaf soy latte, an almond milk and a decaf latte with cows milk. And just as we'd ordered a wedding party came in, as Cafe across the road from Parliament House and lots of bridal parties like to get photographed there. However Cafe very tired looking. We asked the owner if the family pictures on wall were of his and he said no, they were on walls when he'd brought place 20 years ago! And it showed. It's a shame as it doesn't take much to make a place look nice, fresh paint and pictures, that would do.

My friend has a disability and is in an electric wheelchair. We came into have lunch on Sunday and when we asked about a table for 2 the guy said we could sit in the corner by the door so my friend wasn't in the way of everyone. My friend was upset at that comment and the guy was rude didn't seen to care about helping us. People with disabilities are human to and with staff workinng there like that, we won't be back and we will be telling all our friends not to go and eat at your cafe. We went to the cafe next door and had lunch instead and they were very friendly and helpful and there food was lovely. This Cafe discriminates against people who have disabilities. We won't be back

Came here this morning with a large group of people. 27 people - we're all part of a social program for young people (I was there running it) When I went to pay for my food the waitress asked me what all the commotion was, I politely said it was a social program for young people and she thought I said 'dumb' people after I corrected her she said 'well there are a lot of dumb people there'. I was so shocked I couldn't talk. We're now changing the location that we meet at, so this cafe just lost a lot of extra buisness because of this one woman who also made comments to other members of the program. Seriously not good enough. I have no idea how this woman is working in customer service.

Staff were wonderful. You can eat in or outdoors ( we sat outside). Had the French Toast with Maple Syrup. Wasn't a fan of the French Toast at all, it was very bland, nor the fruit it came with. My friend had the same and didn't enjoy it either. But the chocolate Thick shakes were delicious and served as they still should be , in ice cold metal containers ( like when I was a kid)! Coffee was great, prices were great $40 roughly for 2 of us. Would go back and give them ago, everyone has off days.

I'm a visitor to Melbourne and this is a great place if you're not in a hurry. The coffee is the best I've had in Melbourne, and I've had a lot served luke warm, watery, tasteless. The SOFT poached eggs and bacon are the best I've had in Melbourne, and I've had a lot served hard, tiny and tasteless. This caf is friendly. It's caught in a time warp, which makes it all that more pleasant. There is plenty of glass to keep people watchers busy. Excello isn't your fandango hip caf, but if you want great coffee and food, give this place a look up.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this coffee shop and I must say, it was an experience I won't forget! The coffee I had was hands down the best coffee I've ever tasted. It was rich, full-bodied, and had the perfect balance of flavors. Although the coffee shop is a bit far from my house, I would love to make the trip every day just to have another cup of their amazing coffee. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere of the shop was cozy and inviting. If you're a coffee lover, you owe it to yourself to check out this place. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back soon!

Great place for a morning coffee! After spending NYE in town there was not much open on the public holiday. Luckily this case was open. My first time there and I was grateful as was in need of a coffee. The decor is a little outdated, a few minor issues like delivering sauce in a bottle that looked 10 years old and had the wrong flavour In it, the food traditional and not trendy. But everything from the service to the food was done well. The coffee was surprisingly great! If you are sick of the pretentious breakfasts that don’t deliver, come here.

We arrived wet and bedraggled from Melbourne rain. 4 adults and 2 infants. The service staff were outstanding, the food was delicious and well priced. They were most welcoming of my toddler granddaughter. And out of the blue a heater went on above us....bliss Our first food experience in Melbourne 100%

Brought my husband and daughter here for Sunday brunch on our way to the museum. I saw a review saying it had great English style yummy breaky. My husband is from England and boy was that review right. Yummy!!!! We loved it and my toddler ate heaps too. Delicious, service was fast, super friendly staff, warm outside with a roof heater and nice drinks. Thanks team, we will be regulars!

Let’s keep it simple. Tasty food, warm hosts and smash hit coffee. I love a toast with baked beans and they didn’t disappoint. The banana bread was toasted and well balanced. The coffee was just amazing and I had two of them. There are a few vegetarian options that kept me going. I went there a few times during my travel.

Was recommended by our hotel. Very intimate space but great view towards the gardens on spring street. The meals were well priced especially for a city location. Looked to have 3 generations of the family together which I thought was great and you could tell their service and food is what they pride themselves on. I'd recommend and also hope to be back again if I ever come to that side of the city again

Two visits to this place so far and both positive. Open on weekends, in the top end of town. Impressive menu array. Has a New York style diner vibe about it. Food: Zucchini slice: very fresh and tasty. Chips: thin cut maccas style. Beef burger: one of the best, fresh, tasty. Milk shakes: served in traditional cup, very tasty. Prices are good. Staff, most are friendly and accommodating. Recommended.

Turned up here with a big group for a last minute coffee this afternoon. The lovely folks here handled it beautifully and helped us all finish the day with smiles. I had to push my group out the door so the cafe could close up. Thank you so much Cafe Excello! Next time I'll give you some advance notice

This cafe delivered a mixed experience. Customer service was lacking somewhat, as we were forced to sit outside due to the tables inside being reserved, despite no signage stating such. Was also waiting quite a while for service. The quality of the milkshake I ordered though was fantastic. Silky smooth in texture and perfect balance of chocolate. Nice view of parliament gardens too.

Great selection of food of what is a simple cafe'. The service can be a little slow, but that because it's so popular, especially around breakfast time. A cafe in Melbourne that is wholesome without unnecessary extras that you find in so many of the cafes around Melbourne that all seem the same. If you want a unique cafe experience, then give this place a try.

A really conveniently located cafe with great coffee and tasty food. The staff were very attentive and when I was there, even though it was busy my food came out very quickly. The decor is a little dated but that only adds to the overall charm. If you're near Parliament station, Cafe Excello is well worth your attention.

Stayed at the Windsor Hotel for a few days but this little cafe was my “go-to” place… friendly and quick service… good selection of food which were all delicious. I barely walked in when they were already making my coffee! Little thing like that (remembering) your customers makes this place special. Great job!

Came in for a thick shake, and they did not disappoint. The only thing I would improve on is the fact that paper straws don’t work too well with thick shakes, as it’s hard to get it up the straw. Maybe metal ones if you don’t have any plastic? Other than that, beautiful drink!

Not sure what I expected. The service was a bit stiff, looks like a family run team. Price was very reasonable but the quality of the food was simply not up to par, from the supermarket toast, bland eggs to the awful coffee. It’s in a good location, old school vibe. Seems to be for an older crowd.

Just a casual conversation later, and we have ordered. Everything was remembered, and delivered. But more importantly the pancakes are life. Cooked to order, flipped out of the pan onto your plate. Large serves of bacon. Runny poached eggs. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Would give 0 stars if I could. One of the lady never put my order in despite taking it. Happened a few times, always the same lady. Never received any apology either. The only reason seems to be because of my race. Won’t recommend this place to anyone due to their racist/discriminating services.

This is what your plate will look like after an Eggs Benedict. Order a serving and sit by the window as the sun rises. Take a sip of a great coffee while you see the morning sun shine on the church spire across the road. Warm hospitality from a welcoming manager who served everyone their meal.

This place has become my favourite Melbourne cafe and where I always go for at least 1 breakfast when I'm visiting Melbourne. It's old school charm and amazing staff always make us feel like locals and they have the best value breakfast in the city by far. The big breakfast is my perfect breakfast and at $20 is a steal.
