"Availability of products is fine but two bad experiences"
"DONT COLLECT OR RETURN EVRI PARCELS HERE! I’ve had 2 really bad experiences with the guy at the till (the man in his 50s/ 60s) when collecting EVRI parcels"
"Extremely shoddy customer service - I went there to return a heavy parcel as this is one of few myHermes ParcelShops in the area"
"Shockingly rude without cause"
"Another day, another horrible experience with the cretin behind the counter"
Availability of products is fine but two bad experiences. 1) They lost a returns parcel of mine. I managed to lose the returns receipt so that's on me but at the time i dispatched the item they were just throwing parcels randomly into a back storage room and another person into the queue was complaining about lost items from a previous dispatch and was also concerned about this - they were very dismissive and just said people shouldn't be ordering and returning so much stuff! 2) I went in to buy spray paint - there are no signs up about not testing but dozens of indicatons that previous customers have tested them on spots of (very dirty and beaten up) shelving. To check colour match I did the same - only for the shopkeeper to come over shouting that this isn't allowed as it clogs cans. As someone who has never bought spray paint before, this isn't obvious and there are plenty of other stores for other products where you have testing to check the match, so it was an honest mistake. I paid for the items afterward (even ones I didn't want) to solve this but frankly I think the shopkeeper was extremely rude and I didn't appreciate the 3 minute rant I was subjected to. I'm left wondering if not putting signs up for something that needs explanation is laziness or trying to get people to buy unwanted items In any case - the owner doesn't seem pleasant and I won't be shopping here again.
DONT COLLECT OR RETURN EVRI PARCELS HERE! I’ve had 2 really bad experiences with the guy at the till (the man in his 50s/ 60s) when collecting EVRI parcels. He’s unnecessarily rude to customers and lacks good customer service. This was my experience: I recently came here to collect an EVRI parcel (already dreading it because of my poor experience the first time I came here about a year ago). I simply said “hi, I’m here to collect a parcel from EVRI” and he just looked at me for 10 seconds like I asked him a stupid question. I then said “I’ve got the order number if you needed it” to which he replied with attitude/ sighing “first of all what’s the company you ordered from”, so I told him and he told me to go look for the parcel myself amongst the pile of other parcels. I was so confused by the whole interaction. He just gives you attitude unprovoked. Just an observation but there was a group of guys in front of me and whilst the guy at the till wasn’t giving great customer service, he wasn’t mean to them… yet he was to me?? It’s also telling that most of the 1 star reviews are about him and mainly from other women too! Do better!!
Extremely shoddy customer service - I went there to return a heavy parcel as this is one of few myHermes ParcelShops in the area. The counter only had a small opening so I had to put the parcel on its side with the return label on another side. Someone with common sense would have just taken the parcel and scanned it but he instead started cursing at me and angrily told me to hold up the parcel while he lazily scanned the label (which took several attempts). He then barked at me to put the parcel in the back room where there are loads of parcels just out on the open and unsecured. He also acted just as uptight towards other customers delivering their parcels before and after me. If it wasn't for the lack of Hermes ParcelShops in the area, I doubt many people would come here. Hermes should really audit the practices of the ParcelShops but then again, it's not a surprise given how badly Hermes is run.
Shockingly rude without cause. Inconsistent guidance about how many people are allowed in the store and when. A lady was waiting outside to be served regarding her parcel but the machine was free and the store only had one customer which was being served at the til. I asked staff why we had to wait outside considering this and asked if at least the lady in front of me could be let in. I was told if I’m going to the DIY section I can come in but I had to wait for the Hermes machine. So I proceeded to the DIY section. A staff member told me to go outside because, “You’re not buying anything.” I explained it was really cold outside and decided I’d buy something to appease aggressive staff. A member of staff told me to, “Go home, turn on the heating and sit in bed, that’s how you’ll get warm.” I was speechless. I’ll be avoiding this place at all costs.
Another day, another horrible experience with the cretin behind the counter... it's a shame it's the only place around that does Evri returns. Never had a good experience in this absolute dump. The small man in the cap behind the counter is always horrible and rude. He shouts at people constantly. Awful little man, he shouldn’t be allowed around other humans (especially women). I had a parcel delivered the other day, and two of them tried to tell me it wasn’t there - despite me having confirmation of its delivery. They wouldn’t even check for it, just kept saying no. I asked them if they were planning on perhaps stealing my parcel and keeping it for themselves… it was then found very quickly… do not trust them, they’re crooks.
This shop has a bit of everything, some confectionery, dry and tinned foods, stationery, key cutting, plumbing bits, hardware, nuts bolts, screws, nails, tools even some softwood sections This shop has a large basement full of DIY staff, they can even mix paint colour! and have some softwood and they are open 7 days per week! They also have EVRI posting point with posting labels printing machine. They could and should provide a shelf next to Evri label machine to help the customers who send parcels - but they do not want to do it - saying, they are not paid to provide a shelf. It is a pity in my opinion. However, they are open very long hours, 8am till 9pm.
I was trying to drop off a parcel when one of the shopkeepers told me the machine was broken. I thought he meant that the printer was broken so I (kindly) said that I had printed the label already and didn't need to use their printer, then he suddenly became angry and said "You're English! You should understand what I'm saying!" I was so shocked. I'm not even English. I calmly told him that and that he shouldn't talk to me like this way, then I left. He was shouting "Who are you?!" as I was walking out... I had a feeling his attitude had something to do with the fact that I'm a woman, and reading the other reviews apparently I'm not the only one...
I would of given this no stars if I could! I’ve been going here for years and the customers service has gone from bad to worst !! The last 4 times I’ve been the shopkeeper in the shop talks to me like I’m a child! Disrespectful! Doesn’t want to assist with anything! Acts as if you’re bothering him! He even went as far to tell that I should go to another shop and laughed. I was collecting my parcel that’s all I go there for. I asked for help and he replied with a condescending response! Almost ruined my day! I will not be going there again! Awful!!! Horrible people and don’t respect women. Very shocking!
Just awful customer service. Makes me dread needing to send an Evri parcel there. Staff member first told me no, and I should go and use the post office (depsite having brought in prepaid parcels). Then muttered something about the parcels being such a headache. Threw the receipt on the counter, and when I offered to leave the parcels somewhere, flippantly waved towards the back and said 'read the signs' (to a mound of unsecured parcels). If you don't want to offer the service, don't. Used to go in for DIY supplies occasionally but definitely wouldn't again.
It;s a shame that one person in this store will probably be the reason it goes down. I've been very badly treated while collecting a parcel, being called stupid, shouted at as I couldn't find where my parcel was stored. It is not the first time it happened, I've let it slide a couple times but yesterday was the next level of rudeness. I will report it to evri as well, what's the point in giving this store their business if they're going to treat customers like garbage. The man behind the counter is sexist, misogynistic and rude.
Great selection of products, man behind the till was incredibly rude though. My partner asked to pay by card and he had a very rude and abrupt manner. When she paid he was muttering “card card card” to himself. Implying he had a problem she paid with card. I went to purchase a few things myself and could hear him tutting, I asked him directly if me paying with card was a problem. He just rudely went “yep” so I left my items on the counter and walked out. You’ll continue losing custom with such rude staff.
Wow guys, if you’d like the worst customer service experience of your life, you’ve found the place. I came to pick up a parcel and the man behind the counter thought that was an excuse to shout at me and berate me for even asking. (Handy tip: it’s a free for all with the parcels so do not get anything delivered here). Sometimes you just have to laugh or you’ll cry. Also bonus points if you’re a woman, you’ll receive an even worse experience. Whoever you are, cheer up love, I’ll be visiting B&Q next time.
As previous reviewers say, rude and unhelpful staff. There is often some sort of argument going on with the customers. The items are overpriced and if you try to return/exchange an item they will come up with an excuse for not letting you do so. There is a better DIY close to East Dulwich station called Shaun’s where I had much better experience. With guys like these, its just easier, cheaper and more convenient to order your stuff from Amazon than to support the local community.
Awful customer service. Had a parcel delivered here and the staff were rude and aggressive as it didn't have the correct name/address. I spent a long time on the phone to the company trying to sort the issue and they refused to co-operate at all, would not speak to the company on the phone, were extremely unhelpful and sent the parcel back to the sender. I would strongly advice against using this parcel shop or shop for anything.
Theres one incredibly useless indian- looking shop assistant here that thinks and feels highly of himself, he was just chatting around and wasnt paying attention to whats going on in the store, had my parcel scanned from the till but decided to chase me outside and shouting cos he thought i just took the parcel, i think he was trying to showing off to his white customer friends with his "bravado act".Sort your life out mate
Rude middle age shopkeeper who seemed to be in charge. Two older staff members were pleasant. The rude shopkeeper had a bitter outlook and blamed the customer for any problem. Definitely not in the right job. There is another local hardware store on Coldharbour Lane. I will also try another Hermes parcel shop next time in Peckham. Such a shame, they also have a decent whisky selection, all tainted by this miserable man.
Picked up a delivery from here and all packages were just slung in the corner for people to rifle through. Had to find package myself and took about 15 minutes. Many of the packages were ripped open and damaged, it was laughably bad. No system and easy for anyone to just walk off with a package - do not order for Hermes collection here. The staff were also rude when I asked for help and ignored me multiple times.
Im so lazy writing reviews but I had to take the time to write this, (I know people say that alot )Great customer service in the hardware department. The gentlemen there is very helpful and knowledgeable I've been back and fourth to this poor man an untold amount of times and his been very helpful on every occasion and had great patience. I prefer coming here than B & Q. You get real personalised service.
Pretty extensive shop useful for DIY stuff. However I have tried to use the hermes return here a couple of times and the guys are absolutely useless. The QR code scanner wasn't working and the assistant really did not care. If you do get it to work you are meant to just toss it in an open bin at the back (and they will scold you if, logically, you put it with the other packages near the front).
The people working there is very rude, I had to return a package free item to Amazon and I have been refused, I wanted to show the instructions for the return and didn't even consider it, I had to call costumer service at Amazon to be able to get them to listen to me... I wanted to buy a drink and they refused me... Won't go back there... Wouldn't suggest anione to do so...
The shop keeper was very rude. He has a lack of manners. He is a middle aged man with grey hair. Such a disgusting and bad mannered person....very unprofessional. I'm sure he has done this to other customers. I won't be going back there again and I hope no one does either. It's funny because I looked at the other reviews and most of them had similar experiences as me sadly.
Astoundingly poor customer service. Could not have cared less about my lost parcel (tracked and delivered directly to the shop). No security or system for parcel pick up. Do not send anything here. I came with my baby and they left me searching in the wrong area with him crying. So disinterested in being helpful, kind or caring. Would give 0 stars if I could.
DO NOT return your parcels at this shop. The shopkeeper was so rude to me - acted annoyed when I asked if I could return my parcel, scanned it and threw it back at me. I then asked for the receipt and he shouted at me saying he gave it to me when he hadn’t. Honestly next time I’ll walk the extra distance to make such I never have to encounter him again.
I went to pick up a package and one of the shopkeepers was extremely rude because I just couldn't understand his question. (His English was already super broken) He was super mean for absolutely no reason and when I asked the cashier why he was like that he didn't give me a straightforward answer and just mumbled something quietly. Never going back.
0 punctuation to this shop. The worst customer service I ever since. They don't deserve to be open and earning money. I went to collect a parcel...the man didn't have any idea about the collection and another just point me a place where I had to find my parcel among 50 other parcels. Extremely rude. Disgusting place!!! DON'T SHOP THERE!!
Had the same unpleasant experience with rude, misogynistic, staring at my top shopkeeper, as all females who wrote reviews here, came back to complain, same shopkeeper lied to me that manager is not at work, and I can't go there, manager was there, acted surprised and said that he never reads google reviews. Let's see.
Went here to send a Hermes parcel as the local Post Office is not currently open. Was told that the Hermes machine wasn’t working. They couldn’t/wouldn’t tell me if this was a temporary issue or not, nor could they tell me where the nearest Hermes drop-off was. The dreaded combination of both being useless and rude.
the cashier staff was very rude. I was looking for a coins in my bag because he did not accept my card payment. At that moment he knocked on the table several times, warning me that the next customer is waiting. It was an action that should not be done against a lady. embarrassed me there. Even 1 star is more.
This place is very handy for any diy jobs, particularly late at night. It’s well stocked and the amount of random things I’ve gotten here which couldn’t get at b&q is amazing. Priced reasonably too. I moved out of the area last year and missing it - I have to use a screw fix a mile away now, not as convenient.
A great DIY shop and very handily open late as also a food shop / off licence. Staff can be a bit short but don’t mean any harm I think. The main man running the DIY side of things is very knowledgeable and helpful. Best to return when he’s around if you’re not sure what you need or are looking for some advice
This place is bloody brilliant. The guy in the DIY shop has EVERYTHING and is sooooo helpful. He has sold me the right paint and brushes, innumerable wall fixings and lightbulbs and most importantly he just happened to have exactly the right thing to fix my broken tap this weekend Camberwell legend! …
Awful customer service. Staff do not know how to say please, then became offensive when I had to remind them to say please when asking someone to do something, began shouting and refusing to serve me and telling me to get out their shop. I can see by other reviews this is their normal attitude, disgusting
They always seem to have what I want in terms of hardware. I explain what I want to do and they advise. Been going there for years and bought paint cable fuses light fittings and locks. Especially when it is right on your door step. Women doing it for themselves and with a little help from this shop.
Rubbish customer service. Went to collect an item dropped by Hermes. The guy refused to acknowledge it had been dropped off and wouldn't look for it despite showing the email confirmation. Wouldnt let me check. Kept muttering offensive words & became angry & started dashing packages on the floor
Useful and well stocked local DIY shop. Shame that one of the staff members is rude and unhelpful, seemed to be annoyed at me for trying to collect a parcel and asking questions. Will give them the benefit of the doubt that they were having a bad day, but will actively avoid if it happens again.
Awful customer service....I called on the phone to ask if they had an item and they said yes....travelled an hour to get there as everywhere else was closed for them to say they didn’t sell it and that they have ‘no idea’ who answered the phone.....embarrassing and lack of apology......
More then just a supermarket but also a DIY /hardware store. Open till pretty late. Has saved me in many sticky situations. They sell most things you can think of to do repairs around a home or business. The man who runs the place is very knowledgeable I’ve kicked his brain many times.
I give it minus 0, the man who works at the cashier was too verbally rude, people like him should not serve the public, I do not recommend anyone to go over there with such bad service, especially because of the man who is there, has a lot of anger , I will never return to that store
Entered the store today at 12:30, never heard a please or thank you from the guy serving, he was so rude to the customer in front of me I put my item back on the shelf and left the store. Will not go there again. Awful. Not deserving of the one star I had to leave to post my review.
Rude person working at the till... Told me to throw my parcel in the bin (no smile - not joking)... He then handed me the receipt and says "leave it at the back". Have been here before and they were never friendly, but had never been intentionally rude - will be avoiding this store.
THE rudest shopkeeper I've ever had the displeasure of encountering. Rude, intimidating, all you need to say is hello and you will be told off. I'm a local and he's a repeat offender, as confirmed by other reviews. Do yourself a favour and make the effort of going elsewhere.
Customer service is appalling here: I came to collect my parcel here the shop assistant rudely told me to collect it myself. Parcel’s are left in a unsecure location. Here anyone can take it. If your Parcel goes missing just know why. Don’t bother shopping here
Worst experience for parcels the people were so rude. The parcels are just left in a turned off freezer and you have to find yourself so anyone could walk off with anyones and steal. It was dirty and I will not be using the shop or parcels service here again
Have only used this shop once to pick up a parcel. Rude to everyone and terrible service. Very dodgy and unsafe parcel pick up. Would really not recommend. I actually came out thinking I'd been on some sort of comedy set up it was so bad it was laughable!!
To avoid wasting your time if you would like to send a packageless return don't go there. They don't even know what it is and will insist you print your own label/package your item even though they advertise they offer it (as shown in the picture).
Avoid this shop as much as you can. I need DIY materials very often. Everytime I go there it’s a hassle. Staff is rude and unhelpful. Everything is overpriced and they have no respect, consideration, courtesy or manners. Baaaad place
Man working at the till seemed annoyed at me for picking up a parcel and was SO rude to me without a reason. Spent 10 minutes looking for it amongst a chaos of packages. Awful experience! Will never order Evri delivery here again.
Love this place. I've completed many DIY projects buying from this store . They have a small selection but a well stocked store with timber and plumbing supplies , they are very knowledgeable in case you need any advice .
I love the fact that this shop sells food as well as DIY stuff when all other DIY shops are closed this one is still open till late you can also get a pair of working man's boots here to how many shops do that ❤ …
Very bad customer service. Went in to drop a parcel off and the guy behind the counter was super rude and unhelpful. I’m sure they still make money of people dropping off parcels, so be a bit nicer.
If only I could give 0 stars. Only popped in to return something and was met by one of the rudest men I have ever come across. Unhelpful, aggressive and ill-mannered. Avoid this shop at all costs.
Worst customer service I have ever seen. Unnecessarily rude and openly making fun of people. I have been there two times and it was my last. If you don’t want to own a store, just don’t.
Parcel management is awful; parcels are left to be taken by anyone in random fridges. Customer service is inexistant and the staff is very rude; this shop deserves to go out of business
Aggressive, rude shop keeper with absolutely no decorum. I will never be returning to this shop. the level of emotional stress I was caused is not something I wish upon anyone.
Been there 3 times, got yelled at by the owner 2 times(not kidding), the other time I needed to make a key copy, managed to do it only on a second try(had to come back)
I don’t understand this. Like others, I was treated like a sub-human for daring to drop off an Evri parcel here. Why offer the service if you don’t like doing so?
Spacious store with a basement, you can purchase curtains rails and various screw's, also you can return item with your receipt, very friendly and helpful staff
This place have all you think about. A drink and few bits if you want to start remodeling youre house aftet 5 pm...open till 11pm grate. Staff verry helpful
Facety people didnt help find my package I had to rummage through unorganised mess when I called prior to collecting they were very rude on the phone
The shop staff by the counter needs to learn how to deal better with customers. His customers service was very bad I will never go back to his shop.
These guys are great. Never had any issues with them returning or exchanging items. A bit pricey but I guess it's to be expected as an off license?
They dont bother to help you out i asked the about sharping stone and they get slighty angry why i am asking them and i should find it on my own
Perfect shop when I need materials for arts and crafts. Nice staff, Cool things to buy and I enjoy the experience. Best DIY store in Camberwell.
Understaffed, ramshackle and .... very useful! Late night opening DIY, you can't go wrong with that (give the main store upstairs a miss) …
Mad but very useful shop, If you need out of hours DIY stuff this is your place. Parcel drop off is helpful and easy. And they sell groceries.
Appalling customer service. I went to the store to collect a parcel and the person working there was extremely rude. Would not recommend.
Two times I've needed something and both times I've received good detailed customer service. Opening times are great. Would recommend.
It is a regular convenient store so its ok. Just go there to pick up and drop off parcels basically. Which you do on a fridge lol
The people in this shop are just rude, miserable and unhelpful. From now ill rather travel the extra distance than see them again
I arrived at 8.10am with parcels but it was closed with no explanation. Now I've got to take them to work which is not ideal.
Had to make a return and the guy at the back dealing with the packages was incredibly rude.. definitely won't be going back.
Like the person mentioned in the Q&A, they seem to hate you dropping off parcels. Rude and I now avoid the shop altogether
Love this place, they have everything! And they're super friendly if you need any advice. Can't recommend highly enough!
Garbage store with garbage service and first class rudeness. They need your money...but they don't want your money.
Very nice and helpful staff who are very knowledgeable on the products they sell. Reasonably priced items as-well.
Absolutely rude. Shop keeper said he doesn’t need to respect women. Wouldn’t ever go here. Avoid at all costs.
Very rude, seemingly drunk shop owner who also seemed to be anti-black from following me in the shop. Avoid.
I was trying to send a parcel but the staff didn't help me. I had to leave the store without send my parcel
Were sort of helpful when I visited to return a parcel. I paid £1.50 for brown tape, & 500 for covid mask
Sell almost everything. I needed to return an item, Hermes. Was easy and straightforward. Friendly store.
An Alladins cafe of DIY and household essential. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. A Camberwell gem.
Rude staff and prices change depending on staff. Angry old man behind till being rude as usual.
They soooo rude shouting at me for picking up my order I felt embarrassed avoid please
very rude no respect for customers. They make you feel like you are a shop lifter .
Very helpful at 9pm on a Sunday night when our bath/shower was completely blocked.
The most helpful, friendly and competent Evri dropoff place I've ever been to.
Nice to have a local hardware shop instead of having to go to the big store.
Good for all diy and building needs, Good selection of draper tools
Great little diy store which also takes amazon returns packages.
Grate DIY shop and a Evri drop off point for package returned
Excellent store used them for years open everyday till 11pm.
So rude. Go to Khans Peckham Rye for the real Diy section!
Used to be nice store, now that are just rude. Stay away
Returned a hermes parcel - so unfriendly - no need!
Good service and everything you need in a DIY shop
Very unkind staff!! Rude and disrespectful
Far better selection than B&Q and cheaper.
rude. don't drop off your parcel here.
get anything you want in this shop
Helpful staff - nice corner shop
