I turned to Google during a tragic time for me and my cat and I found Cambrian Animal Hospital close to my home. My cat Jersey fell off my 5 storey balcony in January of 2017 and was missing for 2 days until my neighbour found her alive, 2 floors down from me. I was thankful, scared, worried, confused and didn't know who to call. The phone reception staff were warm and comforting and sensed the urgency of our situation. Everyone is so very thoughtful and kind. Jersey survived with multiple fractures and a hematoma on her right lung. One year later Jersey returned with a more serious condition of her thyroid but after blood work and medication every 12 hours for the rest of her life, she will be okay! UPDATE: My beloved Jersey died 14 months ago and I am not over it or through it. I cannot recover. However, Cambrian Animal Hospital provided the best end of life experience for her possible and arranged for her cremation and memorial plaque. They have an endless supply of resources for ways to remember your pet and their services include therapeutic counselling.Their compassion during our crisis will literally never be forgotten. The vets here are good but it may be a tall order for you to get an appointment in a timely way. Every time (not hyperbole) we've called this place in the last 2 years, we've been told "so and so is on vacation" or "so and so has no appointments for 2 weeks out", with the only exception being getting appointments for tick medication refills. I called to have our last family dog, Max, put to sleep, and they couldnt make time for it. I called to have our current don't Maggie looked at last year, and they wanted us to book 2 weeks out. We took her to VCA and they saw her the same day. Yesterday I called to have them look at pair of open bite wounds on our current dog, because I wanted them checked again. They opted to cancel the appointment based on the notes from the 10 minute emergency visit we had at another facility - despite not having actually seen her injuries. I'm not saying this is wrong, however I don't really see the point of this being our vet if every time our dogs need to be seen we need to book weeks and weeks in advance. You may be better off going to VCA if you need to your pet seen in a timely way. EDIT: We are going to continue to use this vet, and I hope that the scheduling and availability issues will improve. I will of course update this review if and when that happens. I don't want this to deter people from using this vet (the vets are very good), but people should know that the availability seems to be rather limited here.

Disobliging and Unreasonable. I thought I was 5 minutes early, but apparently I was 10 minutes late; miscommunication or mistake, it's hard to say. The vet was busy, but "no matter, I can wait"... But the response was "no, you missed your appointment, and our protocol is that you must rebook... no exceptions." Our dog was getting her vaccine and a pedicure for travel across the border. I'd made the appointment a week or so earlier, and they were only able to offer an appointment a week later, and after we left. They knew the spot I was in but, "no exceptions!" They would not budge. There was no other option, except I "could try to book with another vet" ... Darn right I could! Called my old vet (across town), and we go in tomorrow! They were very understanding and accommodating. P.S. I initially went to Cambrian because they were more reasonable for surgery prices, although, when I got the bill for the surgery, there was an extra $100 charge for "daycare" that wasn't identified in the estimate, and I was charged for a "cone of shame" I didn't need and didn't take. Maybe they remembered how I had given them a hard time about that a few weeks early.

The staff is amazing and always give exceptional service and a positive experience. The vets are so professional and their expertise is untouched. I feel comfortable leaving my cat in their care, knowing she's going to be well taken care of. Even though my cat is an angel at home, she's an absolute monster at the vet, and still, the staff are all very sweet and kind with her, even when she's trying to go for their jugular. The staff always go through after care and blood work with you so you never feel like you're left in the dark about how to look after your pet post op, or how to administer medication. Many times I feel like veterinary hospitals are trying to get event dime and cent out of loving and vulnerable pet parents, but this isn't the case with Cambrian Animal Hospital. I truly feel like the vets and staff care for all animals that come through, and want to make sure they get the care they need, and at a reasonable cost. They know how stressful it is to take your pet to the vet and do everything they can to make you and your pet comfortable. I honestly couldn't recommend this animal hospital enough!

This is by far one of the best vets I've ever been to. My Sadie dog was integral part of our lives but she was never well since I rescued her over 10 years ago. Dr Madsen was our vet at Cambrian and you can tell that she just adores animals. She took very special care of Sadie and was always straight forward but sensitive with all of the steps we took in her care. She always supported me in my decision making while giving me all of the appropriate information. When we moved into palliative care mode, she always made sure Sadie was comfortable and always had a spot available for us when we needed to get in more quickly. When the time came to make that big decision, she came to our home and she took amazing care of the last moments we had with Sadie. I received a beautiful card with handwritten condolences and I know that they really cared. The whole office is always quick and professional and their prices were always very reasonable. I highly recommend them for your fur babies.

I have only good things to say about this clinic. I have taken my kitten here before for vaccinations and an antibiotic. Very reasonably priced! She recently swallowed a sharp object and needed emergency surgery, it was already around 5:30 pm but the staff stayed until 9pm to do her surgery or else we would have to go to emergency where it would of cost us 2000$, the surgery was affordable and they even let us do a partial payment until we could afford the rest. They called us frequently to check on our cat after surgery and spent as much time as needed to answer our questions. The doctor is an amazing vet and will be our go to vet for both our cats from now on! They also adopted a cat who was about to get euthanized which is the kind of caring and compassion that we appreciate in the staff! Thanks so much guys!

This is Yoho's mummy. We have been here for the really life-saving days. First time, Yoho ate a poisonous mushroom and I freaked out because she passed out and I even failed to use my fingers to open her eyes. She literally lost her breath. The second time she got a disease and it couldn't be figured out from the vet we used to go near where I live. So I talked to the doctor and she diagnosis her for "puppy strangles" and she was so kind to bring me a copy of the description of the disease. She gave the treatment for almost a month for 99$, including the exam fee. It was a relief that she can save her from the horrible disease very timely. And they followed up with me a week later to ask for a recheck. I can't thank the staff there enough! Very friendly and nice environment assured!

I am so happy I found this clinic for my cats, Luna and Lola. Both Dr. Sharma and Dr. Madsen are fantastic with my cats and take the time to answer any questions. Luna loved Dr. Madsen so much that she didn't want to leave! Prices are more reasonable than other vets I have taken them to and I find they are better at communicating what to expect after treatments, and when to bring them in again. I had previous vets that did not tell us what to expect so we ended up in follow-up appointment for normal side effects for treatment, costing us more money and wasting our time. The front desk staff are friendly and communicate well which I know is just as important to a successful vet practice. Thank you for caring for my fur babies!

We take our picky kitty to this vet and have always received fantastic service. We generally are able to get an appointment when we want to and last Friday we called to see if we could come in a bit earlier than our appointment and they were more than happy to accomodate that for us. Our kitty normally sees Dr. Sharma but last Friday we had a lady vet (I am sorry I didn't catch her name) and she was amazing! She took her time with our kitty and answered all of our questions wonderfully. As well, she did not try to sell us on expensive services (we are students and want the best for our kitty but we have a budget). The support staff are awesome too! We are very grateful and will recommend this vet clinic to everyone.

I first went to this vet clinic as I lived right across the street from them, but as time went on they have become my first choice for my kitty. They are very kind and loving to my animals, the wait time is pretty good and the vet techs seem to know their stuff. They listen to your requests as an owner and don't try to push you into giving your pets exams you feel are unnecessary. The lady veterinarian is very caring. Though I have had some weird run ins with the older man there, for example he was giving my cat a shot, struggled a bit, didn't end up poking through her skin and the vaccine sprayed me and my cat in the face. I now try to avoid having him as my vet because he's very monotone and a little grumpy.

The Dr. and his assistants were all amazing, really considerate, clearly they all love animals and made my cat (Steve) feel as comfortable as he could have been and he does not like leaving the house. Steve was really sick and we didn't know what was wrong with him, they got him in right away and got x-rays and medication, me and partner didn't know the price and was expecting a lot more than what the actual total came out to be. Vets aren't cheap but it's pretty clear that this clinic wasn't charging outrageous amounts for what they do. Overall the price was really reasonable and were happy with how the Steve was treated and how we were treated. 100% are coming back.

You can really tell that Dr. Madsen loves animals. She treated my cat Avi so well and was super understanding when it came to my budget. I highly recommend this clinic for anyone who wants their animals treated with compassion and love. I've also now been working with Dr. Sharma (unfortunately just over the phone) but he has been incredibly kind, knowledgeable and wonderful to my little Ann. All of the staff also do an excellent job being kind, informative, and organized which is impressive in this season. I can always tell that Ann has been well taken care of when she comes home. This is also the best budget friendly clinic in the city.

I love the clinic, the service, the vet techs , the receptionists and our vet Dr. Madsen! Dr Madsen is very detail oriented and very straight forward, she will never up-sell . When the cost is a concern she will advise what tests are most urgent and which can wait . Her love for animals is very apparent, and my dog loves her! Dr Madsen does her research when we ask her something unusual ( like what shots we need when traveling). I’m glad I chose this place and Dr Madsen as our vet ! And even though we moved and are far away from the clinic I’ll make the trip and will not consider switching our clinic!

All the staff at Cambrian are amazing. Both Dr. Madsen and Dr. Sharma are kind, caring vets that are very patient, helpful and knowledgeable. They don't insist on unnecessary procedures or treatments. The prices are also very reasonable. After we lost our kitty unexpectedly at emergency, the staff at Cambrian sent a sympathy card that they all signed. We were deeply touched by their kindness and compassion. We will continue to bring our new kitty here and recommend this place to our friends. This is everything you would want in a vet clinic and more.

You might wanna look past this Vet place, never experienced such an unorganized Vet Clinic in my life. The staff are not very nice there and it feels extremely clicky, you are there because you have animals you want taken care of, not to have to worry whether the staff stab each other in the back! Just sayin, it’s worth checking other other Vet Clinics. How do you forget your clients that have to euthanize a family member be it a dog, cat, they are not just another $$$ walking in. It is hard enough to make such a decision as that.

It was out first time coming here for our cat and when we called ahead to book the appointment they were very friendly, professional, and transparent with their prices - probably some of the most reasonable in Calgary. Once we got there, we dropped off our cat and waited in the car, because of Covid restrictions, then got a phone call from the vet to keep us updated and let us ask any questions. The vet didn't push any unnecessary vaccines and the whole visit was quick and easy. Definitely will be returning in the future!

Once again the staff at Cambrian Animal Hospital have proven why they are my number one recommendation for veterinary care in Calgary. We are relative newbies when it comes to pet ownership (Covid Kitten) and were recently blessed with a new cat facing some health issues. We had many questions. All answered. Procedures were booked and completed. Our new cat is joyfully zooming around the house with a new lease on life. Kudos to Pigeon and their team. See ya when it's time for our annual check up!

These folks really do love animals. They have always been so kind and understanding that as a first time dog owner...I stress out about everything. They make your options clear and talk with you about the price and process so no surprises. Most importantly, my dog Bill loves them, I swear he will wander away from me with anyone there and be happy as he goes and when he gets back, it's almost weird how much he loves going to the vet. I would and have recommended them to fellow pet owners!

Took my blind senior dog here for a dental. I was very very nervous about her going under anesthetic. Dr. Madsen, and all her staff were so kind, helpful, and patient in answering all my questions. They were happy to provide me updates throughout the day. I also felt very secure in that she was knew was she was doing. My little girl came out with ten teeth out, and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this vet for any vet care, and especially dentals.

My cat was attacked by a coyote I was scared and worried and right from the time I called them til the time I left the appt. I found everyone very kind and comforting of Monte and myself. The cost was very fair and I was shocked when given an after hours emergency number just in case Monte needed them over the next few days! Amazing how understanding everyone was. If you are an overprotective critter mommy like me I highly recommend coming here.

I have just recently moved to Calgary and when my one cat got sick I visited one of the other local vets. I was very disappointed in the way my situation was handled and looked for another vet in my area. I went to see the great folks at Cambrian and was treated very nice by everyone there. The doctor helped me with my problem at very little experience. I thank you all and would recommend to anyone looking for a caring vet clinic.

My beloved CHONKY senior cat went down hill really fast over the past few months. The doctor was honest about her quality of life. We decided to let her go to the rainbow bridge. The staff were super amazing and so sweet. It is a busy place and I still felt very taken care of. People don’t realize how hard this job is and how stressful it can be. New to town, found this practice recommended on Reddit. This is the best vet clinic I have ever experienced- and having grown up on a farm that’s saying A LOT. Dr.Sharma is so thorough, caring and transparent. The staff are so warm, welcoming and loving towards my sensitive girl. My dog had to have a minor surgery completed here and her care has been outstanding and pricing reasonable. Highly highly highly recommend.

In my experience, Dr. Sharma is excellent, understanding, patient and genuine. I really appreciate his knowledge, kindness and attention. The staff are unfailingly professional and are doing what they love doing. I feel that these people go out of their way to provide care when it's needed. I am relatively new to the clinic, but I feel very glad that I found them and know that they will do their best to help my dog.

We took our dog their for a teeth cleaning and removal. The staff were friendly and they took excellent care of our pet. They kept him at the location for most of the day to ensure he was healthy and ready to return home. He made a speedy recovery and we very happy with the service. Prior to the operation we shopped around across several vets and found the prices are very reasonable for the services provided.

Dr.Sharma and his staff are amazing! I have an awsome dog that has managed to get into a few accidents that could have cost me a fortune. They are so lovely here. My pup Atlas has very unkind allergies, they have been amazing with working within my budget and not charging or pushing for unnecessary tests. Very good experience with this clinic. Dr. Kathleen Madsen is really great, very attentive, patiently listens to all the concerns, and not rushing through: always makes sure that the animal is calm before starting the examination. This greatly reduced stress for both animal and the owner. We are coming to the hospital with our two cats since two years and planning to continue.

Honestly, the best vet clinic in the city! Sincerely caring, even not during work hours. Our JayJay got sick and Dr. Sharma and his team did all they could to save her. It didn't work and we needed to let our puppy go. The support we got was incredibly genuine. The price for the care JayJay got was very reasonable. They CARE and that is very important to every pet owner.

It’s been about 7 months since I had my senior frenchie put to sleep. The compassion they showed us, and the comfort they provided Blaze was something that i will never forget. Truly. Moved over to Cambrian after bad experiences with 2 other Vets over excessive billings and bad diagnoses. They were not only affordable, but professional and during Aries neuter they found a hernia the others had missed. I have another appt with Santos to once again followup on past mistakes and I have little doubt they will once again rise to the occasion...

I live nearby and the reviews were great but my experience was stressful and didn’t feel comfortable. The reception and doctor both were not very friendly and didn't make me feel like they cared about my cat. There were long wait times to be helped and seemed like they were trying to get me out of there quickly. I was disappointed overall.

Very professional and friendly. They treat our dog Josie with lots of care. They call regularly just to see how's she doing. Also price was very reasonable when we took her in for knee surgery. After surgery, she runs like the wind now!

Did a very poor job on my dogs stitches. They fell out within 10 minutes of being home. They don't stand by their work. Told us to go to emergency if they didn't hold. I question how qualified they are if the can't do a simple stitch.

Yes, it's important to see the animal in person for an assessment and a treatment plan, but this clinic refused to even give a ballpark estimate/low end and high end to compare with a list of exact line items for another clinic.

I picked up my Pawsitive Match rescue dog, Toby, at Cambrian over ten years ago and we have been going back ever since. I have never had a bad experience. They are friendly and have taken good care of Toby over the years.
