At the top of my review, I’ll merely say if you don’t care too much about academics and you love sports, come to this school. You’ll be happy. However, snowsports isn’t managed well. I think public schools handle snowsports better than us. It’s a typical school though, and I think most people will be content here. Unfortunately, there’ll always be some that aren’t, and I’m one of them. If you want to hear me rant, then go ahead. To put it honestly: I don’t like this school. What makes this circumstance worse is my conscious decision to come to this school, with the belief that I would be happier here than at the other school I got an offer from. If a scholarship wasn’t offered, I never would’ve come. I still don’t know if it was the right choice. This school is run by incompetent fools, but I suppose it could be worse, as it could be run by malicious fools. Although I might not do a better job if I were entrusted with overseeing the school, they are professionals with a job, and I am but a random student. Carey management, up your game. Communication is an area they utterly fail at, fostering my borderline belief of the existence of a folder called 'Emails we'll never respond to, but retain for the sake of record.' If the ability to complete a task eludes them, transparency and accountability about it would be much appreciated. Furthermore, their timidity in the face of parental intervention causes them to change their minds as soon as a parent steps in. Suddenly they can do something about the situation. Their incompetence is truly lame. Remarkably, this institution appears more interested in allocating its overflowing money and resources to pursuits no one cares about instead of paying teachers more. A change of the school's logo, followed by what seems to be regret (blazers with the new logo can be switched with ones from the old logo, and the old logo can be tailored on for you), has only served to further prove this stupidity. The school song has been rewritten, but in a much worse manner. This school has transcended the state of being a clown, it’s the whole circus. They have chosen to replace perfectly fine uniform items with new versions, while rambling on about environmental concerns. Notably, a compulsory camp with plane trips is also running next year. It is an endeavour appearing to be completely hypocritical. Whilst people are punished for wearing the uniform slightly wrong, nothing is done about the bullying or anything. Of course, bullying is a part of all schools, but the focus on uniform is akin to police installing new speed cameras on a downhill road, so they can penalise cars previously adhering to the speed limit that get caught on camera for going too fast, due to the effect of gravity (things go faster downhill, if brakes not pressed in time). Their reasoning is to ensure people are ‘ready to learn’, yet their own actions actively ruin the learning of students. The school's website participates in false accuracies, listing programs that no longer existed for over 4 years while adding the new programs up there. The Cultural Experience program hasn’t existed for 4 years, but as of currently it’s still on Carey’s website (check middle school program, no links allowed here). Perhaps it will come back one day, but at the very earliest it’s likely going to be 2025. The other tours there are mostly lies as well, they have not been happening for a few years. Additionally, the most competent teachers are left with the worst jobs and the teachers who can’t teach and look down on students are the ones in positions of authority. Lastly, a survey sent to us for feedback was marred by character limits that limited the scope of criticism to a singular paragraph. Don’t take my review too seriously, or any of the others either. Some of them were written by bad people (I know who they are). So I might be a bad person as well. I also have a character limit here. If I could, I’d write more. I’m out.

A group of students have been found participating in cult-like activities, stating they "worship". My daughter has mentioned to me that they have been summoning demons in the school bathroom as well as participating in satanic rituals. The students often use unholy chants such as "slay girlypop" and also "hitting the griddy". Please parents, if you're worried about your child turning into a "flop", please don't enroll them in this school. (consider worshipping)

It was overall an alright experience. However had some experiences in which confidentiality was broken in regards to counselling there and bullying behaviour from a teacher as well as on a camp requesting to not continue to bike ride as I was struggling to breathe... this was ignored. I don't complain unless for good reason. Turns out it was likely swine flu and it felt like i was getting stabbed in the chest. thanks.

Great pastoral care, strong systems and processes for kids who struggle with the pressures of growing up in a modern, confusing world. Genuinely great teachers and a culture of providing a rounded education, not just a one-dimensional academic viewpoint. We moved our eldest from a single sex school in year 6 and it was the best decision we've made. Co-ed makes sense as life is co-ed!

Carey is an amazing school with brilliant staff members who care about their students. There is also a well-being program to assist in mental health and extra classes to extend those wanting to be pushed academically. Carey also welcomes people with a passion for sport and encourages physical activity and a positive mindset. Overall, it is a great school!

This school has left a scar on me I was depressed when I attended this school.I had to eventually leave and change to another school.some students were extremely mean had them throwing paper balls at me in class and spread rumours because I was an overseas student even some teachers were racist and talked down to me like I was dirt

My daughter started prep in 2016. The care and attention she has got has been unbelievably beneficial and helpful. Two jets are Ben Dooley and Rebecca Boon. It is a great feeling when you know your child is in the right school environment - after spending so much time analyzing it and not knowing what is best to do.

Racism is very deeply entrenched in the administration where they stand by and do nothing for their Asian students to be fed expired food at their associated boarding house. Of course they will never admit it because they need all the extra funding from the higher rates charged to international parents.

Our daughter enjoyed her time at Carey engaging in school plays, music, excursions & helping interbational students. Carey provides a nurturing environment. We doubt our daughter would have achieved an ATAR of 99.90 without the assistance of the talented teaching staff at Carey.

I spent so many hours crying in bathrooms and fearing for my safety in and out of school and I know many others who have felt the same. This school claims to care about bullying and acceptance but makes a weak attempt to do anything about

  • Borner AS

Actually a pretty friendly school now, we got really nice senior head teachers and the house captains are caring too. International students can find their groups as well. And their IB program is among the best in Victoria. Thus, recommend

  • max hutchins

i have been at this school for 3 years, in my experience with the school over time has been brilliant the education is wonderful i highly recommend this to anyone that really cares about their education and well being

  • Longy Savie

The students are perhaps the most horrible cohort of any school they bullied my son out of the school. He came home in tears most days occasionally with black eyes. Don't go here.

  • phat rat

teachers won’t let students sit inside the school building on a 9 degree winter day while they get to sit in a warm and heated place. this is completely unreasonable.

  • Hhj Njj

Really love this school! It is such a positive environment in which to grow. My daughter has just started here and the genuine care and assistance is really amazing.

  • Gh0styyy Live

Politics and cults run rampant throughout the school with many students saying extremely explicit things that kids their age shouldn’t be talking about…

  • Mark J

Great School Terrific balance between academic, social, music and sport. Co-ed too. My son went there - now he's a doctor.

  • Captusal

Great school! Shame that one of the teachers tested positive to the virus now the whole school is shutdown!
