"Living close to Chapters always was so perfect! For a few summers I would go every day to browse books and pick up a new story to read! One of my favourite parts was the discounted books they sometimes had, there were some amazing authors that I discovered through discounted books! Staff are ready to help you find the book that you're looking for! While smaller in comparison to some other Chapters in other cities, it still offers a wide variety of topics and authors for children and adults!"
"This Chapters location has a wide selection of books, gifts, paper products, and other home/lifestyle items"
I made a special hour long trip do this chapters because I book I wanted was said to be in stock. When I entered the store I couldn't find anyone on the floor to help me. When I finally located someone they simply pointed me in the direction it may be in. Didn't offer to help me find it or even look it up. Still couldn't seem to find it even though the computer said it was in stock. Again searched for help only to be given a vague direction to look in. After an hour of searching I returned to the first associate to complain. With a little laugh she said "Oh I could have just taken you to it" when once again we could not locate the book she shrugged saying "well next time call a head." I go to chapters once a week, it's a special trip I make and I have never been treated like that before. I will never again shop at this chapters location. I'll stick to the Kanata location, better people and better service. At least if they don't have it they offer solutions like ordering it in, not just a shrug and walk off!
I'm most often at Chapters to purchase a coffee at the Starbucks tucked into the south-east corner of the store. It's always seemed to me to be the most appropriate pairing of stores. Purchase a book or magazine and then sit down for a coffee for a first read. However, I was in Chapters today because I was looking for a Christmas gift as were the all the people in the long line-up to pay for their purchase. However, the line-up moved quickly and I was soon outside with my purchase. Chapters and the Starbucks will soon be making a journey to the Cataraqui Mall. It will be a big change to see an empty parking lot in front of Chapters because it is usually full.
As Amazon takes over more and more of the book selling business it's nice to still have Chapters in the game. It's not just buying a book although there are times I just run in and grab something and leave... It's also about the experience. Going for 1 book and coming home with 3 .. having coffee and reading the jackets. Going as a family. When was the last time you all sat down in front of a computer screen and surfed Amazon. Next time you are in the market for a book , buy it from chapters and take the kids with you.

This Chapters location has a wide selection of books, gifts, paper products, and other home/lifestyle items. It also includes a Starbucks with a medium sized seating area - which is usually quite busy. The staff were approachable and very helpful. If you enjoy reading, bookstores, or libraries, this is a fabulous location to spend anywhere from ten minutes to a couple hours wandering in. The parking lot is a decent size and easy to navigate.
This Chapters store has a great layout. The store staff are always friendly and they are also very knowledgeable. Featured books are presented in interesting groupings, and the displays are always engaging. There are plenty of great gift ideas, all placed within an arm's reach of desire. Regardless of whether I have a specific title in mind or whether I simply want to browse and explore, I know I will not be disappointed here.
Great selection of books covering just about every interest under the sun. Fiction, non-fiction, self help, sports, entertainment and one of the largest collections of graphic novels(my personal favorite) in the entire city. A very friendly and courteous staff that are always willing to help shoppers with their reading endeavors. And a real bonus of this store is the fact thst there is a Starbucks on site!!
Never a bad experience when I’m in this store. They have computers for fast searching of products they have in the store, as well as an option to order them online. Staff are friendly, and answer all questions. Not just books, but stuff for home, office, children & babies. Has a Starbucks in the store as well. Amazing layout!
Mom literally waited In front of a co-worker last night waiting patiently to be served cause she couldn't find what she was looking for. Apparently the worker talking to his friend was more important. As if she was not even there. Male. 8 00 pm tonight on this date is what happened . Hope that worker smarten up
Being someone who still loves reading in this day & age and prefers ACTUAL books, I just love Chapters to start with. However, that combined with finding out they contribute so much to local charities (both registered and not), being I'm charge of an event for one, just put them at the top of my list!
I love the variety of books, puzzles, magazines and... let's not forget coffee (provided by Starbucks). Mostly, it is great that you can grab a cup-of-joe and walk around in the store while sipping away. Plus... there throws and seasonal decor items are always adorable!!!!
Great selection and very well laid out. Has a great children's reading area. And I was able to find a self-help book easily. And it was on sale! If you like to read and get lost in a book. This is the place to go. Oh also if ya need a coffee there's a Starbucks right there
Great book store with friendly help but they had no list of the Globe & Mail's recommended books and were unable to find it anywhere. My other complaint would be that there is too much "stuff" apart from the books. The store is taking on the appearance of a Dollarama.
Great quiet place to sit and have a coffee from Starbucks or read a book, great selection of books and they have computers to search the whole store to make it easier. They also have boardgames and a young children area with games and books and they even wrap gifts
Looked for something that was supposed to be there from the website, and the in-store catalogue, It wasn't there and was treated with rudeness from staff when I asked for it. Wasted a trip for nothing. I'm checking now and the store still says it has it in stock.
Staff are courteous and helpful. Even if just browsing (OK sometimes reading) no pressure. If there is one criticism it's that half the store is more of a fancy (expensive) gift store and the choice of books is the poorer for it. Guess it's all about economics.
Hard to go wrong in a bookstore! We did wish there was more of a staff presence in the children's area though - I wanted to have something wrapped as a gift for a cousin, but nobody was around. Still, tons of selection and a nice clean store.
Very friendly and helpful staff, with a wonderful large table in the middle of the store where you can sort your acquisitions, and lots of seating. Not fully accessible, but if you can't manage the few stairs, staff members are always happy
A visit to Chapters is always pleasant. Staff are friendly and the line-up at cash moves well. I would love to see more selection of books, particularly in the history and biography section, but understand that this is likely not feasible.
Decent store, convenient location. Sadly they never really get the first few volumes of their graphic novels in. Makes the trip feel like a waste because I don't feel like buying product if they don't even attempt to restock it properly.
I actually went to Starbucks inside the Chapters. I order a 24.00 order and they wouldn't take 100.00 bill. They said they don't take 50's either. Go figure, a store that doesn't take cash money. Pretty sad customer experience.
This is a large book store chain. Chapters is great for there wide selection and warm atmosphere. Most locations (including this one) have a Starbucks attached so that you can enjoy your new book over a fresh coffee right away.
First time bringing my 2 year old boy. I was impressed with the kids area, it had things for the kids to play with as well as the stuff for sale. We weren't there long but I look forward to bringing my son back in the future.
Well laid out place with staff that are professional and knowledgeable. The staff is there to assist and they are well versed in the all books and products. This is a great place to find gifts and other items for all ages.
Always a great selection of books with wonderful staff to help you with any needs. The sales are usually significant enough to entice you to buy. The bathrooms are always clean too, at least any time I have used them.
I love going to Smitty's! I often order pancakes for dinner because they are so delicious! The French toast is really great too. I love the intimate environment the restaurant has and how friendly the staff is.
The staff here are excellent! I was feeling lightheaded after having donated blood the other day and had to lie down while at the store. Staff brought me water, juice, and a granola bar and made sure I was ok.
It doesn't always have what you need, but like any Chapters you can order books in. It's fairly out of the way, but that generally keeps the crowds down. Their Starbucks has good baristas.
The staff are amazing. They recommended a bunch of books And "Name picks" if I didn't liked the book I could bring it back and pick another books from her picks. Great present Idea!
After visiting Chapters I have the clear understanding how tragic for Kingston closing of the Indigo was. Indigo was an old fashion book store with - surprise, surprise - seasonal
Definitely a great place, 8/10. Great selections, friendly and helpful staff but we needmorechairs (to sit and read on). Give the people what they want Chapters. …
Huge selection of books. Staff are always happy to help out find what your looking for. Love the fact that you can take your reading material to Starbucks that is connected.
It's a standard Chapters with basic book selection. The Starbucks inside is quick and makes good drinks. Staff at both Chapters and Starbucks are friendly and helpful.
Well laid out bookstore. They are moving to the Cat Centre in a few months. They are moving to the Cataraqui Centre but the new location will not open until August.
Great place great books great staff. Looking forward to the new and improved store. But feeling a little sentimental about the old store lots of memories there.
Large store, well laid out, lots of variety, friendly staff and very helpful! And, as always, there is a Starbucks on site with comfy chairs to sit and read.
Great store for books of all types. Plenty of magazines and discount books. Best sellers found here. Great magazines section with world wide perspective.
I always have a great time visiting, they have a large selection of books in all different genres and the merchandise is always fun to shop too
Great selection of books, home decor, and style products. The home section is great for gifts! Awesome community room at the back for meetings.
They have the beat kids section of any bookstore I've been in. Jennine is the best informative and most friendly person in the store...
