This place is a local treasure. They have a wonderful selection of books, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They will order in books for you if they don't already carry them. I have also been to this store for book launches and poetry readings. It is so nice to support a quality store that does so much for the community.

It's one of the best bookshops ever. If they don't have what I'm looking for, they'll find it. If I can't remember certain critical pieces of information that would help me find what I'm looking for, the staff will go above and beyond to assist. Plus, it's local. And a Kingston landmark.

I've only been here a few times but this store had the book that launched me into an entire world created by my now favourite author. The employees have always been really incredible. It's a small bookstore but they do order in the books you request and follow up with you.

excellent selection of new books for its size, if you are into literature. much more worthwhile selection of books than Indigo Kingston. the guy that runs the store is probably a liberal considering the store displays sometimes, but at least he knows his literature.

Love this place! Great selection and they will order you exactly what you want if they don't have it, but they do have most books you would ever want to buy, so they would only ever need to order you some niche book. Friendly staff and adorable, cozy atmosphere!

My go-to place to purchase books. Amazon wants you to pay for shipping, or buy more books to avoid the shipping costs. With your purchase from Novel idea, you’re supporting a very quaint, cozy bookstore in the heart of downtown Kingston,

Thoughtful selection, wonderful staff, and they'll order anything they don't have in stock. They support local authors, are an amazing resource running the festival bookstore at Kingston Writersfest, and hand-delivered books around town

Although expensive, the books are amazing and the service is top quality. They have a lot of historical fiction, history books, feminist/global movement and queer books so I can't help but love it there. The decoration is cozy but also

You won't find the selection of the big stores but it's got some nice gems lying around. I ended up with a few from my younger days (Lord of the Flies, Wizard of Earthsea) that I otherwise wouldn't have looked for and some more unique

A very enjoyable book shop, of a type only found rarely these days, or in Europe. A nice offering of many topics. Pricey, but by God you can pick the books up and look at them, flip the pages, smell the paper and be in a better time

Novel Idea is such a lovely indie bookstore! I really enjoyed browsing through the many books and finding some I just couldn't leave without ;) and the name! So cute. Overall, I had a very warm and pleasant time here!

Very well appointed bookstore, great selection of some harder to find books. Cozy atmosphere, you don't feel rushed. Service was unintrusive while still being very helpful. Bonus: Great background music! …

I get all my hardcover and paperback books from here. Decent selection, it's easy to order a new book if they don't have it in stock. The staff are always friendly and nothing beats a real bookstore.

I love shopping here partly because of all the neat stuff they carry (stationary, books, journals, calendars, local items, graphic novels, and more!) And partly because the staff is so nice.
