Hi, I am deeply regreting writing this email. I am a Loyal customer of Ellesmere and Markham Coffee culture for almost 10 years now. I love the environment, coffee and other healthy food options. I have mostly attended my meetings with my clients here as well. For last 4 months I come here with my daughter buy sprinkle donut for because I have to bring my pregnant wife for Doctors appointment every week. The genteman is very kind and always smiling when serving me and to other customers. On the other hand, the lady is always rude, and bossy which makes everyone very uncomfortable. She act like she is the rutless Authority figure whom we have to obey. Anytime I came to coffee culture she was rude with a pricky attitudes. Today she insulted me infront of my pregrant wife and other ladies and customers. I asked the gentlemen who works over the counter for a small disposible cup. He allowed me to take it because I needed it and I took the cup. The gentleman gave me a verbal approval and with body language (facial expressions). By now I understand the gentlemen very well because he is serving me for a very long time and he is very polite and friendly with me. Suddenly, the lady came out of back supply room and start screaming at me and accusing me in front of my wife and customers that I took it without permission. I explained her everything but she didn't changed her tone, body language, and she kept on accusing me for taking things without permission. I was willing to even pay the price for the small cup which is to my knowledge $0.05 $0.10 or $0.25. I understand that a misunderstanding is a possiblity and it can happen. But as a customer service she don't have the right to 1 Accusing me 2 Being harsh with me 3 Being rude 4 Being Judgy I alway feel that she discriminate based on a culture background while dealing with customers. I have tolerated her for a very long time but today she literally went on a very extreme attitide over petty little thing. Normally I spend about $ 10 to $20 or even more when I come but it was unfortunately my last time. I am very offended by the way me and my wife was mistreated. I feel very sorry for a great place with poor customer service. It's up to you now if you want to take action against her or not. Or at least she need additional training to work on her behaviour and attitude. I am just letting you know about my experience at this location of coffee culture. Because of your customer service lady me being a "happy and Loyal" is lost forever. I am not a person who complains often. But I do complain when it is it's complete bizzare situation. First and foremost, I must express my disappointment with the coffee culture at this particular location. As a loyal customer of this franchise, I have generally had positive experiences, but this specific establishment is tarnishing the reputation of your brand, primarily due to the conduct of the lady in charge. I visited this location on November 21 at 3:20 pm, ordering a tea for myself while awaiting my client. As I observed the overall ambiance, being in the food industry myself, the gentleman on staff demonstrated commendable customer service. However, the lady in charge appeared aggressively disinterested, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. Witnessing her berate customers who had just arrived and chastising them for not immediately placing an order and taking a seat was truly shocking. Three customers barely had a chance to sit before she began scolding them, citing the sign posted on the door. I couldn't help but overhear the exchange, and it was disconcerting. I continued to listen as my client arrived around 3:35 pm. When I signaled for her to join me, the lady interrupted, insisting my client order before joining me. Despite having already ordered my tea, an argument ensued, with the lady claiming my client hadn't ordered. This policy was entirely unfamiliar to me, and her insistence was both confusing and unreasonable. Expressing my frustration, I was met with further argument, including disrespectful comments about leaving if I couldn't afford to pay. This confrontation occurred in front of my client, and I found it utterly unacceptable. Reluctantly, I ended up paying for an additional beverage I didn't consume, all due to the location's impractical policy. Upon leaving, I requested a receipt, only to be told it couldn't be provided later. This lack of proof of payment was frustrating, further emphasizing the need for improvement at this location. I implore the management to promptly address these issues, as they are damaging the reputation of your franchise. A review of the lady's customer service skills or the consideration of hiring a new employee may be necessary to ensure the positive experience customers expect. Regards.

I will NEVER go back to this location. Today I went there to have something to eat with my cousin. I’ve gone to this location a few times alone, but this time I invited her to join me. I went in, sat down and waited for her. I didn’t want to be rude and order without her, so I just waited for her. About five minutes in, a staff, I’m pretty sure it was the owner/manager, rudely came over and told me I needed to buy something to sit there (I’ve seen her before. She’s not welcoming she doesn’t smile like the other staff. She seems very miserable and as though it’s like a bother for her to be there). I told her I would buy something, but I’m waiting on my cousin who is running late. She asked how long it would take. I said we were to meet 5-6 minutes ago, but she will be here shortly. She proceeded to tell me that “the seat is only for paying customers, and until you go to the counter and buy something, you are not a paying customer.” I was absolutely shocked! And I told her just that. She then told me there’s a sign outside stating this. I was appalled. I told her that she was rude and I would not be eating there or spending any money after her addressing me like that. She said “Okay, you can go.” Extremely poor customer service from a person with a disgusting/bad attitude to be addressing me like that in front of other customers. As soon as I went through the door, my cousin came from her car. I told her what happened and she said that we definitely would not be eating there. We found another cute little café elsewhere and ate there. I have never had an issues like this at Coffee Culture in all the years I’ve been going there. I understand that people come in and sit there without buying anything, but there was definitely a better way to approach me, and as a manager/ owner, which I would have expected. By far the absolute worse customer service I’ve received at a coffee shop. If anyone approaches you like that there, do not tolerate it and leave. Establishments like that do not deserve any of your hard earning money.

19-April-2022 Coffee Culture is one of my favourite brews, so this is a sad review applicable to this location only. Up to today I was a frequent and known customer who, if working, would either order breakfast, coffee, a snack or lunch every couple hours as I understand this is a restaurant business. I would also bring my water bottle on my backpack. Today it was implied that I was sneaking in outside beverage. I offered to show it was water, and yes, the hostess insisted on seeing it, so I showed her. At this stage she implied I was bringing hot water to make tea!! I took this as a direct insult to me. I go to a coffee shop to meet friends and colleagues, have a coffee/meal over conversation in a clean and pleasant environment. I am usually an understanding and tolerant person so I didn’t let this spoil my morning. I had my breakfast, enjoyed my conversation with my friends and left without a word…… never to return to this establishment!! —————————————————— 16-May-2022 I believe in second chances as we all can make mistakes sometimes. Today, I returned, with no sort of expectation. While placing my order, I was surprised when the hostess told me she was disappointed and hurt by my review, especially since it came from me, who she recognize as a regular and respected customer. She would have preferred, if I felt disrespected, to talk to her before leaving the restaurant, which I acknowledge would have been a good way to express how I felt and to give her an opportunity to stand by her action or correct any misunderstanding. I felt better that she brought this up with me today, proving that one to one dialogue is always better. As usual the food and coffee was very good.

It is unclear how this place got any good reviews. Google should check these people out and Culture Cafe Head Office. My experience: the customer service is extremely rude. I believe it may have been the owner. A middle aged Indian lady at the cashier. I pity the day when karma catches up to her, and it will, it always does. Judging from her toxicity, life already cannot be good for her. If she is not the owner, someone should remind her; every one is treated equally in Canada. We do not have a class system here. Her treatment of me, I have seen on my travels to India. It was as if I was a lower-class citizen. Very Racist even though we are from the same culture. Her rudeness was biting and vicious! I guess my attire from travelling all day gave her an impression of me. Nevertheless, I will never return to this place and neither will my friends, family or business associates. Business owners should never take for granted the way a person is dressed when they enter their establishment. You just never know who you are dealing with. Be kind not cruel. People should be wary of the 5-star reviews. It seems to be a burst of 5-star after they receive a 1 to 3 star review. Seems suspicious. After reading all the reviews about the rudeness from this particular lady, and nothing has been done, I have decided to contact the Corporate Head Office for Culture Cafe & Eatery. We have standards and rules on racism and customer service in this country that should be upheld. Let's see if Corporate does something. Like other reviews, I don't trust them handling food. Something is wrong with this lady and the management of this location. Don't recommend this location at all!

I was thoroughly disappointed today from the lady at the counter. I take it this is probably the same person that everybody else is talking about in their negative reviews. She's extremely rude and disrespectful towards customers. She is very defensive and does not take questions with openness and the kind of politeness that I as a customer would expect when spending my hard-earned money at their establishment. I entered happily spending money on drinks and food and when I asked for a tap water I was denied. I've never been denied tap water from a restaurant especially when I paid for lots of other items. I have never had this happen at a Coffee Culture establishment at any other location. I also asked for butter on the side for the muffin and again was told "no this restaurant is different from other restaurants and not to expect this." She then quickly started to gaslight the situation and escalating the whole experience to a level that was completely unnecessary including by saying that we were the ones being rude. I don't understand how this is possible since we were just asking perfectly reasonable questions with a good tone. We felt very uncomfortable for the duration of our visit and quickly ate up our food and left. I also noticed that the lady was sitting with a male coworker on a chair where the customers would normally sit and they just stare at everybody. Very uncomfortable and uncommon for my experiences.

Horrible experience! The Indian lady there, probably the owner has no etiquette or customer service at all. If i read the previous reviews, I wouldnt have visited this cafe. My experience was similar to previous reviews and I regret entering this cafe and ruining my mood. We were in the Chatime earlier where a girl was eating a tuna sandwich and said it was from coffee culture so went went there. After we went and got our food was guarding us so we dont drink our Chatime drink and made us feel very uncomfortable. I understand the policy and told that we wont open it but she was just standing there to make us feel uncomfortable although we ordered sandwiches, drinks and other stuff from there cafe to dine in. I kept the Chatime drink on a separate table so she knows that we rnt opening it there and stops standing there and she started yelling and picking an unnecessary fight. The lady spoke to us very rudely and kept repeating the same things very loudly in the store. I dont even want to go into details of the stuff she said as i have never seen anyone talking like this to theirs clients before. They should learn how to trust their clients and not make such a big deal to ruin someone’s experience in their cafe. Noone should spend their money on these kind of poorly behaved people. I am for sure never going back and will definitely tell others I know never to go to this place.

Having lived in Scarborough most of my life, I was pleased to see a Coffee Culture had opened in a great location. Now living in Durham , I’m use to a certain level of service that this eatery usually provides in its Durham locations… this Scarborough location was a nightmare when it came to customer service and attitude The middle aged Indian lady at the counter needs to go! I was frankly quite surprised at her lack of interest in serving us. That is your job! You’re in the service industry! While deciding what to order, she seemed genuinely upset and disinterested, almost annoyed that we were bothering her?!? We sat down with our drinks, started drinking, and were discussing how rude she was. We then had a piece of cake we brought from home. Oh boy she lost it! Told us u can’t eat food from out. I get that, but there is a manner in which u say that. Don’t need to be rude and disrespectful. Unbelievable! Meanwhile u get many people who buy one drink and sit for hours. We bought 4 drinks! We are actually giving her more business than the deadweights who sit around for hours taking up space. Frankly reading these comments/reviews don’t surprise me at all. This place is garbage and it’s unfortunate that ownership doesn’t care. I’m assuming her husband and her own it, hence she hasn’t been fired. I feel sorry for the older man who works with her (hubby?) Never again! Avoid this place.

During our visit to the Cafe this evening, we had an unfortunate experience with the service provided. I believe it might have been the same lady some other customers have mentioned in their comments. We were being friendly and polite during our visit, so it was really surprising to us how unnecessarily rude she was. We understand that it was a Sunday evening, but we believe in providing customers with kindness at all times. We decided to stay because we had traveled a fair distance to get there, but under different circumstances, we might not have. I usually avoid writing negative reviews because I empathize with the challenges that people working in the service industry face. However, the service was exceptionally disappointing, to the point where I couldn't help but share my experience. Having worked in customer service for over a decade, I recognize the significance of providing excellent service. The cafe itself has a cozy ambiance, and the food is ok. However, the service we received was far below our expectations, making it the most disappointing experience we've had. On a more positive note, there was an older gentleman there who was friendly and courteous. We hope that our feedback can be useful in improving the cafe's service and ensuring a better experience for everyone.

Don’t bother coming here. I came here to study in a peaceful atmosphere and the cashier yelled at my friend the minute we walked in. While waiting in line, my friend and I were looking for an outlet to charge our laptops. On top of that, we waited 10 minutes to place an order (there was NO line up) because the cashier was ignoring us and standing in a corner and staring at other tables. We ordered drinks and found a spot to sit, an hour later my friend was eating a granola bar to take his medication. (He has dietary restrictions so he can’t eat everything). The lady saw him taking his pill and yelled at us and told us to immediately get out. She said, as I quote “Are you two not mature enough”. With no explanation beyond that sentence. Did she expect my friend to skip his medication and die? Does she know the severity of his condition? We did nothing wrong. We placed our order, looked for a spot and remained quiet and respectful the entire time. She kept eyeing us down, it felt like she was finding an excuse to make us leave from the minute we walked in. I heard her yell at another customer for asking for outlets too. Stop hiring miserable aunties that hate doing their jobs. Train them to have some common decency and respect. Wish I could give this place a negative rating. So disgusting.

She said it’s a rule. She said there are signs. I honestly didn’t look, I’m sure there are. I complied and ordered and paid for my coffee. Went to use the bathroom, came back to pick up my coffee and she began to yell at me again. She said how I would like it if she came into my house and used the bathroom without permission. She went on and on. She also said that by using the bathroom I was “cutting in line, as other people in line may have also want to use the bathroom” I did try to justify myself, explain I did not see the signs, that I complied when she told me “the bathroom rule” This is not how you get returning customers. My coffee wasn’t even made to how I ordered it. I didn’t go back, because I just want to move on. Next time, I’ll patronize another establishment. It’s unfortunate as it is a nice setting. I’ve been here many times pre Covid. This was my first time back since. This new rule is odd, as there’s no way I’m bringing a coffee and muffin into the bathroom. I didn’t buy the muffin, not after this treatment. Just bizarre. In the past I’ve had other issues with this person (she thought I take too much milk in my coffee. Head office resolved that issue.) I’m done with the drama. Done visiting Coffee Culture at Ellesmere and Markham rd.

Met up with a friend for coffee on September 10th. My friend arrived a few minutes before I did and took a seat at a booth near the door. Once I arrived, I went to greet her and sat down. Within 30 seconds, the lady who was working came over and informed us that we needed to make a purchase to sit and talk and that we had to vacate the booth for a larger group. It was surprising since there were 3-4 empty booths, plenty of other available seats, and only 4-5 people in the place. Nevertheless, we moved to another area after ordering our drinks. Interestingly, there were still four empty booths near the door. It seemed like the staff was expecting a rush of customers that never materialized. As we settled into our new seats, we noticed two gentlemen a couple of seats away, having drinks and chatting. They were soon joined by a third person. Astonishingly, within less than 2 minutes of the third person sitting down, the same lady approached them, insisting that they needed to make a purchase. My friend and I were taken aback by such poor customer service. We felt harassed within minutes of arriving, and this experience has left us with no desire to return to this place.

I often go here to work and purchase food and drinks during the weekdays. I myself receive somewhat decent service especially after finding a worm in my chicken wrap. However, today was the by far the worst I've seen this place operate. The Lady at the front who claims to be the manager/owner is absolutely obnoxious and rude. I personally witnessed her argue with 5 different customers today. Many of who it was their first time and was confused as to the sudden anger and aggression of the "Rules". Its absolutely ridiculous to argue with working adults who are just trying to get lunch or work out of a local coffee shop. These arguments made me feel uneasy for all of the innocent customers that were berated as soon as they came in. Many of the arguments regarded people not ordering fast enough before sitting down, bringing in their water bottles and much more nonsense. The way she handled every customer today was absolutely crazy and I just can't bring myself to support a business like this. I truly believe this place would be better off if she wasn't there. Please beware before dining here because once she argues with you she will kick you out.

I recently visited this café, expecting a pleasant experience, but was met with a series of disappointments. The first red flag was the reception we received from the cashier. Far from welcoming, their demeanor was unfriendly, which immediately set a negative tone. Things escalated when we witnessed the staff, particularly one lady, yelling at customers for merely adjusting their chairs. This was not only unprofessional but created an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone present. The state of the café itself left much to be desired. The tables were not clean, indicating a lack of attention to hygiene and customer comfort. This lack of care was further evident in the quality of their coffee. It was, frankly, subpar. The coffee tasted bad, suggesting either poor quality beans or a lack of skill in brewing. In conclusion, this was a thoroughly disappointing visit. I would not recommend this café to anyone. The combination of poor service, unclean environment, and low-quality coffee makes it a place to avoid. There are undoubtedly better options available where customers are treated with respect and served quality beverages.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this coffee shop. The lady serving was extremely rude and disrespectful towards customers. It's unacceptable to make people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, especially in a service industry where hospitality should be a top priority. What's even worse is that the server seemed to only allow customers to sit down if they had purchased something, which is a completely unacceptable way to treat people. As a customer, I expect to be welcomed into an establishment and be offered a comfortable place to sit, regardless of whether or not I plan to make a purchase. It's basic hospitality, and this coffee shop failed miserably in that regard. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a welcoming and hospitable coffee shop experience, this is not the place for you. Save yourself the trouble and find a different spot to enjoy your coffee." This lady had argued with 2 people in 2 hours span while I was there. Worth mentioning that gentleman was relatively better, he had a smile on his face atleast but he wasn’t the front person.

the "manager" or self-claimed "manager" was extremely rude and unprofessional upon our arrival (reading the reviews, it seems like its the same lady). we had just arrived, settling into our table before planning to go order when she came to us quite literally yelling at my sister and I for not ordering. We had explained to her that we had just arrived and was obviously planning on ordering but she came throwing condescending words like "i dont know if you know how to read but our policy is on the door". she started raising her voice, humiliating us in front of the rest of the customers, speaking to us as if we were children. we left immediately because of how disrespectful she was and was told by other customers who witnessed her behaviour that we arent the first people whom she disrespected like that. she needs to fix her attitude and customer service skills before she loses more customers. never coming back here again. im not sure why coffee culture still has her working if there are numerous negative reviews concerning this lady who is quite literally ruining the cafe's reputations. please do something about this

Last Saturday, I happen to be at this Cafe to meet a friend, because we had traveled for an hour or so, we directly happen to use the restroom and took a sit while waited for my friend. As soon she arrived, the lady came and started arguing that we hadn't placed the order yet, to which we said we were waiting for a friend and we were going to place the order. I told her that's not how you talk to Customers! She is like but that's the policy to which I responded that it could have been explained in a polite manner. The uncle on the other hand is super helpful and polite. I being an Indian is hard to see that such Indians are making our country look disrespectful. If you can't talk to customers, don't work in such a place. Idk if she owes the place or works. She is the only reason this place has low rating. As the coffees were nice and so was the guy working there. And after reading reviews, its just not us but so many people complaining about the lady. She is worst to have at the counter if you want your business to flourish, even though coffee was nice, I am not going to that place again and getting a rude reply from that stupid lady.

Hi, I am usually not the kind to write reviews but I had no option as I had to share this story so no one has to go through a bad situation like this. I came to sit with my friends and I was late so I took a seat with them and opened my laptop. Not even 5 minutes in, a lady (the one all the other reviews are about) approached me and told me I had to buy something before sitting down. I said “sure, give me a second I am just closing these tabs” she replied with, “you must buy something right now you are using my services” I said sure and went to the counter to buy something. I ordered a drink and I gave her a 5 dollar bill and said keep the change. She then rudely commented on my attitude, and proceeds to THROW the five dollars at my back. I was taken back and replied with “all I wanted to do was tip you” and she said “I don’t need your money.” I was taken back, and just left. I really won’t go out of my way to write a negative review, but I had no choice. I will never be returning here and I hope no one gets treated like this.

I’ve been to this location a few times and am pleased with their food but I am absolutely disappointed by the customer service. The man working here is very humble and nice but the lady, owner, is SO rude. I am currently at the coffee shop and witnessed something so disrespectful. A lady, who has a physical disability, placed her belongings on a table with the intention of ordering soon and headed towards the bathroom. The lady at the counter yelled across the restaurant, in front of everyone, for her to not use the washroom until she placed her order… the customer begged her to let her “pee” and she denied her access to the washroom until she made an order. The lady promised she would order after using the bathroom, pointing to how she kept her belongings on a table. She was still denied access, even though the customer continuously begged that she was going to “pee her pants”. I felt outraged and stood up for the customer after which the lady at the counter, owner, said “Go ahead and write a bad review. You’re not my only customer.” So disappointed. Will not come back here.

We come here every other day and spend about 50-70$ per visit. But the lady at this location is horrible. We asked for parlines and cream which is there on the menu and she made a very weird face and said we don’t have that on the menu. We asked her to look at the ice cream board behind her and she refused to look. She has a very bad attitude towards every customer and I see a lot of people experiencing the same and there are a lot of negative reviews here specifically on her. I don’t know why coffee culture management and head office is doing nothing about these reviews as this lady misbehaves with disable people as well has no courtesy towards anyone. VP of operations should look into this issue personally and have her removed. Also as we enter the restaurant first thing is we place the order and then find a place to sit otherwise she makes a scene with almost every other cx. After this incident of this lady rudely behaving all the time we get in and its with everyone we are not going to visit coffee culture anymore.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE! The service at this location is the worst I have EVER received at an eatery. The female Indian owner/server is miserable and outright disrespectful. She acts as though having customers is the biggest inconvenience. If you're so upset to take orders, then quit! We're not good enough to receive good service from you, but you're still taking our money. How does this even make sense?? We spent $50 at this location, and I feel that every dollar was a waste. The breakfast sandwiches were not fresh, and the chicken avocado bowls were grossly overpriced for the portion and quality of ingredients. The male cashier made an innocent mistake with our order, which we inquired about, and instead of apologizing and making it right, the Indian lady acted as though her entire day was derailed. She threw our food down on the counter and walked away. Avoid this location; basic human decency does not exist here.

I have been going to the Scarborough coffee culture quite often over the past few years. This is because they have organic coffee. Not once have I gotten a friendly Good morning, greet or a Hi How are you from the business owners. Regardless, I have still come in to bring them business for years. Today, was the first time I had brought a banana in along with some of my supplements. Again, without a greet and before ordering my coffee, the woman owner denied me because I had brought “outside food” in. I let her know, I wouldn’t be eating it in here & won’t be staying long, but I was also quite upset about her approach & rude treatment. I understand the nature of the business & that is fine, but I definitely should not have been spoken to & treated the way I was as a loyal customer. I won’t be back & I highly recommend that if you want to support a family business, support one that is kind & friendly. Not them, especially when someone is trying to start their day off happy & positively. This was a horrible experience.

Butter tart was ok, I asked for a double americano hoping to get something on the stronger side. When it was served in a large cup and after I took a sip before I left the counter, I questioned the server if it was a double. The server replied, “yes, is there something wrong?” I told her that “it tasted weak and I’m not used to it in a large cup.” She replied in rude tone, “well that’s the way we serve it, if you wanted it in a smaller cup you should of asked for that.” … I was expecting the customer service to be better, and if it were my place of business I would have fixed the paying customers drink. Now you have someone never returning and telling everyone they know, including google about their poor experience… especially after paying close to $4.00 for 2 shots of espresso… something that only costs maybe $.30 to make. Lady who looks like owner was rude for no reason… She yelled across the room that when she assumed I brought outside drinks. I let her know politely it was just water… few moments later she said we have to buy something right away. I asked her politely if we can buy it now but it come in an hour. She started just saying no to everything I said and wouldn’t listen to me. I have the right to ask and she’s allowed to say no. It’s the fact she wouldn’t listen and kept understanding incorrectly and responded rudely. After she finally understood she said you have to buy something every hour. It honestly seemed like she made that up on the spot. She’s allowed to have her rules but that attitude and ego is a no. I don’t think she’s will get fired because she seems like an owner with her husband. Sad that they see all these reviews and still act this way. Doesn’t seem to care about their customers. Go spend you money on people who are kind to one another

I regularly buy muffins and danishes “to go” for my employees at this location. Today I had to quickly call my business partner, and due to the lousy weather, ordered a hot chocolate to dine in. The gentleman at the cashier was smiling, as usual, when he handed me my drink. While being on the phone, and drinking, I also open a small bag of my own digestive biscuits. To my utter shock, the infamous rude lady passed by my seat and provocatively gestured in front of my face: “No outside food”. I had to interrupt my phone call, and told her that I was about to spend another $40.00 on my customary “to go” order. Thankfully, my business partner is understanding, but could nit believe what had just happened. In conclusion, I assign one star to the delicious treats and the second one is for the friendly gentleman. The rude lady received “three demerit stars” for her behaviour.

Don't believe those fake disgruntled reviews. I was at the cafe when a couple of youngsters walked in , sat at a table for quite a long time and when the lady asked them to place an order so that other patrons can have a seat these guys just took off....without ordering even a coffee... It's not fair to us paying patrons to not have a seat when these guys think all of Canada is a freeloader paradise ........ Some of the reviews are downright false ...no $50 order ....they are mean comments ....and utterly misrepresented... And that lady AS who left a fake review was asked to place an order and she sneaked out after using the facility for over 40 mins without placing an order..... This is abuse of the review system.. not fair to the hard working owners who are just carrying on their business .... Making sure the patrons have a seat while the freeloaders are ejected ..

Terrible service from the LADY. She is rude and needs to be corrected as soon as possible. I myself work in the food service industry, and know what restaurant policies usually look like. Her's is simply outrageous. You can clearly tell from her attitude towards customers that she does not believe her customers deserve respect. Beyond customer service, every human is owed basic respect. Every human is entitled to decent treatment wherever they are, let alone an establishment that promises quality customer service (see the CC official website). She is bitter, obnoxious, and grossly indifferent about her duty, as patron, to honor her customers. She will readily confront any customer that does not meet HER unreasonable policies and subject them to verbal assaults. Disgusting. Warn your friends, and save yourself the bad experience!

Noticed other similar reviews about the same issue and responses from the lady or her husband to the reviews with comments like ‘we will investigate”, “sorry…” but no change in the behaviour when you visit this place in person. I ordered a drink for dine in and was asking my brother about what he wanted. While my brother was trying to decide what he should get the lady rudely interferes and tells me we can’t dine in if my brother won’t buy a drink. I had a similar experience years ago and had stopped going to this place. Was hoping for an improved customer service experience but no, this place will never change.

Worst cafe experience. Went with friends to study, my friend went to get a table while we parked the car and the lady behind the cash yelled at my friend for sitting down before coming to order something, even though she had just sat down to check if there were plugs (it wasn't even a minute since my friend stepped in). She then proceeded to tell my friend that she was not allowed to sit until she ordered something. Once we all got in, I tried to use the washroom and found them locked, I asked her if I could get the key and she rudely told me to order first if I am expecting service, and that we should leave if we don't plan to order anything, even though we told her we planned on ordering. It had not even been 3 minutes since we'd been in the cafe. She made rude comments under her breath so we left.

The lady that works there was extremely rude to my friend and I. We had both purchased items and had been sitting for around 3 hours studying, causing no disturbance. I had brought a water bottle with me, and about 30 minutes after drinking, she came yelling at my friend and I, insisting that I spill out the water or leave. She then began yelling at my friend, who had been leaning against the wall, saying that it was disrespectful and it was not their home. When leaving, I said thank you to be polite, and she responded disrespectfully. I understand that they would want to refrain from having outside beverages, but she could have handled it in a nicer manner. Overall, I am very disappointed with this service as it could have been handled very differently.

I had a really bad experience with the lady. My wife and I went in and one of us had Starbucks drink in hand. We ordered something and were told to drink the Starbucks drink outside (fair enough, I did not complain). I left the drink in the car . My wife tried ordering something for herself and we were denied service. They said BOTH of us need to get something, not just my wife. I have no idea why we were denied service. Usually people share things at restaurants, coffee shops all the time. They then threatened to call the cops on me after I said we shouldn't have been denied service. They should not be able to operate this franchise. I have never been to a coffee shop with such terrible service and lack of empathy for the customer. Coffee culture HQ please look into this, I will not be going to a coffee culture going forward.

The lady that works here was awfully rude. I went to check the reviews for this place and I think everyone else is also talking about the same lady. My friend and I wanted to share and meal and she made us buy 2 separate things. I told her we were sharing and she said "this is a restaurant you need to buy for both if you want to stay". The coffee culture in Ajax is not like this at all, it is a nice environment who doesn't pressure you to buy food. I needed to get my work done, so I stayed, and I regretted it. She kept staring at me and my friend and asked if we had any outside food..which we did not. Then, she told us that since we are using their wifi on 2 different laptops, we both needed to buy food for their business. i feel bad for her husband, he seems like a sweetheart. i wont be coming back.

The lady at the counter was really really rude.. No professionalism at all.. Atleast they should treat customers as a human being. My friend waited for me to come and join with her. That lady came and commanded her to order first. Though she said that she’s waiting for me. That lady insisted to go out and wait and it’s the not the waiting place itseems. When I came, I politely told another person at the counter that they shouldn’t treat us like this. This lady came all of the sudden and said policies and all in a harsh manner. There are two times I generally write reviews... when something is great and beautiful, and when something is horrible and nasty. This is one of the latter. Coffee Culture is pretty close to me, and I hadn't checked them out before. I was meeting some friends in the area and decided to try them out. I arrived a little before my friends, so went to wash my hands while I was waiting. The aged lady at the counter rudely stops me and tells me that I can't use the bathroom unless I buy something first. Now if a business decides to do that, no problem. It's your shop. If you speak to your guests rudely in doing so though... different story. Feel free to try them if you like. I don't reward people for rude behaviour. Too many other shops, run by friendly deserving people nearby. Goodbye Coffee Uncultured...

Absolutely disgusting customer service and treatment of customers. We walked in to get a spot and almost immediately the so called “manager” (she’s not actually the manager, her husband is) comes and tells us to either leave or get up and order before we sit down. We told her we were gonna go order we just wanted to put our stuff down and she responded with so much aggression saying that we should’ve read the sign outside and that unless we get up right now and order something we have to leave. I told her she should be kinder to customers and she started yelling and telling us to leave. I was in absolute SHOCK. I do not recommend this place whatsoever. The workers are clearly money hungry and does not, at all, care about the customers.

I have been here for the fourth time and so far always enjoyed MY experience. The food is fantastic, I highly recommend trying out the Power Up Breakfast Bagle and / or the chocolate Danish. It's a great atmosphere with othesers old and young studying, reading, or just simply enjoying coffee together. I can't speak much to the service, but I had no issues with ordering and having my food brought to the table. I recommend checking out this place and trying their food

I've tried to review this location several times. Google Reviews keeps blocking it. I'll try again. Visited in September. Female owner was extremely rude to my elderly friend waiting for me. A few minutes after I arrived, the same owner was dismissive of a nurse waiting for her friend. In fact she asked the nurse to leave, if she wasn't going to order. Finally advised the nurse, she was going to call the police. This Is extremely troublesome and my review needs to get posted. This ownership group needs to be held accountable for their actions by Coffee Culture Cafe's head office. Since my visit, negative reviews keep piling up. Be warned!

WORST CAFE IVE EVER BEEN TO. My partner and I just walked in extremely tired and noticed the cashier (who claims to be the owner) was taking an order so we went to put our bags down before lining up and she began to very rudely and aggressively tell us to order and pay before we sit down. I would not recommend ever going to this cafe. I went to study for my very IMPORTANT exams coming up with my friends. My friend pulled out a water bottle to drink and she got so mad over it. She literally ran over and prohibited us from drinking WATER H2O!! She caused such a big disturbance in our studying session. I left my house to go study in a nice quiet cafe to not get disturbed but the women working at the cafe was the biggest disturbance. Me and my friends had to leave mid-study and go home. Today I was with my friend at this coffee shop and we have ordered food and drinks. I had a drink with me when I came in. The woman working with the black hair and accent is completely rude and disgusting. I have never met someone so rude and she had the worst customer experience. Refused to let me use the washroom although I said I will buy something. She was yelling and screaming get out. She didn’t have the common courtesy to let me use the washroom as a female although she is a female herself and should understand some of the female problems that we go through. I do not recommend this place to anyone especially if you are dining in this isn’t the first route encounter I have of her I have also had many friends and family who come to this place and who have had nothing but bad experiences with her. I’m usually not one to be extra or leave a whole review over an inconvenience however this place really ticked me off. Won’t get into too much detail, but all you need to know is that the South-Asian lady specifically who works at this location is very rude, and the complete opposite of an understanding staff member. Don’t get me wrong, according to a family member, their food is good, taste-wise, but if you’re looking to spend some time here after work to relax and have a good time, you’re going to lose it. I've been coming to this coffee shop for over 8 years now, and I have to say that the service and quality of the food is always great. The owners/staff are flexible and kind, as long as you're respectful of their space. I really appreciate that they have a business to run, so I always make sure to buy food from them in return for the time I spend there. Plus, in these challenging times, it's important to support local businesses like this one. We asked for a decaf coffee for myself and the gentleman who was there kept swung Americano instead. After a while we gave up on asking for decaf. ZERO STARS - just like many of the other reviews mention the Indian lady that works at this location is absolutely rude and obnoxious. She is clearly unhappy working there. As soon as I sat down she ran up to me to say I need to buy a drink before I place my things down. When I went up to the front to order, she was so snarky and rude saying that I could not just buy one coffee if 2 people are sitting. Smoothie was not bad, enjoyed it. I like when cafes offer more than just coffee/tea items. Usually it’s super packed in here so it gets crowded and a bit noisy. I also recently came to work on stuff and the plugs constantly stopped working. It got so annoying after a while because my electronics were running out of change. I would not recommend coming if you’re looking for a place to catch up on work (unless you bring your own power bank). And rumour has it, they turn off the plugs from time to time to get people to leave. Not sure about this though. P.s. you have to ask them for the wifi code if you need it.

The restaurant is bright, clean and pleasingly warm in its decor. All the menu options are appetizing. My friends liked the whole grain club and the chicken avocado wrap, but I enjoyed the berry pecan salad with chicken. All fresh and delicious. The muffins are good, but the cheesecake just melts in your mouth. One friend was quite happy with her regular coffee, but of us tried the peppermint chocolate latte and liked it very much. A very satisfying and tasty lunch for all of us. No need for dinner tonight either.

A nice spot to do some work for a couple hours on a Sunday afternoon. There were a few free spots available. It wasn't too loud which was good. My booth didn't have a power outlet which was a minor inconvenience. I ordered a mint tea which was good. I ordered a turkey sandwich which was toasted nicely and tasted really good. Finished with a slice of chocolate prestige cake which was delicious. The baristas were nice, and brought my sandwich to me when it was ready, which was greatly appreciated. It was a nice experience and I would come again.

This used to be one of my favorite coffee shops. But the service and ambience just gets worse. The owners are an old couple who just don't care about anything. They are rude. The food is expensive and meh for the prices they charge. Only a handful of seats have wall chargers: it's as if they deliberately don't want people to work on their laptops. Just avoid this place.. The staff at this location treat customers well, it's a great place to be. As a student, I love the environment, its really inviting and study here all the time. Staff are great, they're always willing to have meaningful and interesting conversations with customers. Food and drinks are really great too. My go to drink is their ice coffee or their mint tea. Foods good here too. Go to is usually their veggie perfecto, it's pretty well named.

There are signs all over that you must order first before doing anything else in the restaurant (sit, use washroom, etc). I was in line waiting to order and my husband tried to use the washroom in the meanwhile, they refused to let him until we ordered. Very unprofessional. We will not be returning.

This coffee shop and eatery is so sweet and cozy. The two people who run it are wonderfully kind people. I've been there a few times with my family and I will definitely continue to go. As for the food, I've only ever had a toasted bagel with cream cheese and although it was tasty, that's all I've ever had .

I’ve been coming here quite often recently due to exam season. I love it here! It’s so cozy and it’s the perfect place to do assignments or study. The bakery and drinks here are also really good and decently priced. The man and the woman who work here are also so sweet and always smile at me. I’ve seen people complain about them on here, but I’ve been constantly working here and I’ve personally never had a problem. I recommend :)

Very rude lady at the counter. Seems to hate her job and the customers. Used to come here often but after reading other reviews of similar encounters with this staff, I realize it's not just a one off thing where she was having a bad day. Month after month of poor reviews and so called "please reach out to us because we care about customer service", is total baloney. Nothing has been done. I do not recommend this establishment and everybody should avoid this location unless youre ok with rude service.

This is the worst coffee shop I’ve been to. The lady server is extremely and incomparably rude! She got my friend’s order wrong. When we asked if they can reheat the soup that they served, she said she can’t do it for safety reasons. The soup has not been touched since she served it so how can it be unsafe. That lady doesn’t have a single ounce of customer service! She shouldn’t be in that kind of job that faces customers! If I can rate it zero, I would.

Had a delicious pastry and cappuccino, lots of comfortable seating and very clean inside. Was quieter when I dropped by and they served me right at my table, good customer service Looks like they’re near a local college and have had to enforce stricter seating and outside food/drink rules to keep seating for paying customers vs students not buying anything and taking seating all day, which is totally understandable The above seems to have led to some bad reviews…not my experience at all

I now understand why she has repeat complaints and really needs customer service training. The aged lady at the front who runs cash is rude. I’ve only been here 3 times this past month just for breakfast as I started to go to the coin laundry next door on the weekends. I tried to give this place a chance and thought that she was just having a bad day, but at every single visit I noticed a pattern as she always felt the need to argue with at least one customer. RUDEST lady at the front counter! I was in the middle of ordering iced coffee when my eyes started to wander to the sandwich menu. I was about to add one to my order when she said “Excuse me are you ordering?”. I’m not surprised by similar complaints in the last few months. The older man however, is kind, patient, and accommodating. Unfortunately I won’t be returning because of the absurd lack of manners from the old and miserable lady.

Very unsettling atmosphere whenever you interact with this lady. However, her husband seems to be the total opposite. Anyways, Coffee culture must look at new ownership because this feels like a nightmare business.

Wow. Here is a first for me. Never been to a Coffee Culture Cafe before this and was pleasantly surprised. Nice service by Jay, clean large sitting areas, no pressure and pleasant company. Wonderful coffee and the pastries seemed very inviting. Definitely better that a Starbucks and will love to return here.

I have zero tolerance for their behaviour!! After ordering $25 worth of items from them, my kid asked for a soft serve or a vanilla drink which they don’t sell, he goes and gets himself one from next door and joins us back at our table. I was shocked to hear the woman ask us to leave, because ‘we now have outside food’!! And she’s pointing at my kid asking him to leave!!

This place is great, have been coming here many times for the last year or too. Great service, great food, and great vibes. I think it’s great that the staff try and ensure paying customers get to use the tables and such because it’s fair. Food is pretty consistent with other branches/locations. Seating is extremely limited throughout the day and can be difficult to go there for studying after 11am. Since my church is right around the corner I usually am studying here and customer service is good except for one bad experience with one of the gentlemen.

I have been visiting this Cafe since past 2months for my work schedule and meetings. Customer service is excellent and owners are very sweet, friendly and welcoming. Cafe is always very clean and it's very spacious. This is perfect spot to have your work sessions along with great food/coffee/dessert options.
