How come Ballarat and Geelong get a lot of money on their railway lines while Healesville gets barely ANYTHING? And why does railway infrastructure get turned into moneyless bike trails that seems pointless? I’m sure people would prefer a bus to Yarra Glen rather than a trail… Will the government listen? No, they won’t.

The new facilities at the pump station make this a good start point for a walk along the Yarra Valley Trail back to Lilydale where a coffee break can be taken before the return walk. Nice level walk along the disused rail trail and good access for all sorts of mobility. Some Interesting reading at Blacks Siding too.

Sadly, the railway line is now gone. As of June 2019, the train line from Lilydale to Yarra Glen is now a rail trail by the order of Yarra Ranges council. I never visit this area ever again unless if the railway comes back.

The line closed in 1980, not much here now. The platform wall is still herr along with very overgrown track. There are a couple of small trestle bridges north of the station that are still intact
