Best train station and Staff. I love them Something I like to Share, Why PTV and Victorians are best ... Today while traveling to Work @Monash, from Mmurembena to Huntingdale station, I forgot my camera in Train. Which I realised after reaching Monash University. I called PTV Lost and Found. dept. To help me with that. They also suggested me to call Individual Terminating Station which was quite a hustle. After calling Dandenong, Carneburne and Pakenham Station and informing them what happened. All was left to hope for the best and trust in, ?% chance I might find my Camera. (Coming here as an International student, my Camera was the first thing I bought in here from my year-long of savings) I went back to work started my job on time, halfway through, I received a call, from an Unknown number. It was a call from Dandenong station, and guess what They found my Camera. I was totally moved. I couldn't speak a word, completing my job I rushed back to the station collected and I don't know how to thank them other than saying "I am grateful to you". If this was some other place Definitely I would have lost it forever. Many thanks to #PTV and their lovely staff #DandanongStation #Victoria and #Victorians travelling on this line on day to day basis Victoria is Definitely the place to be. :D Thank you.
Dandenong railway station is located on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Dandenong opening on 8 October 1887. In 2011/12 it was the 9th busiest station on Melbourne's metropolitan network, with 2.7 million passenger movements. A number of train stabling sidings are near the station, as is a little used goods yard to the south of the station. Stabling facilities are located north of the station on either side of the track, trains are also stabled on tracks parallel to the platforms . Dandenong station opened on 8 October 1877 as one of the original stations on the Melbourne to Sale railway line. The South Gippsland Railway Line opened in 1892 from Dandenong. The station buildings were rebuilt in 1975,[4] and again in 1994/95, as part of the Cranbourne electrification project.[5] The new station was opened in March 1995 by Prime Minister Paul Keatin
Beautiful chic 80's design, iconic styling that stands the test of time. Gotta love the steep stairs with broken tiles for platform 1 and 2. The musty elevators are always a joy to ride. Plenty of live entertainment at all hours of the day, my personal favorites are the people that back into you in a panic when they reach the closed gate touch off areas. Toilets were renovated recently with amazing graffiti art, a great touch. Ribbing aside, the place is pretty secure with PSO's patrolling the place constantly. Also being a major bus interchange of the south eastern suburbs you can get to almost anywhere from here.. If you don't need a bus, I recommend travelling up to Noble Park station instead, it's a lot nicer there (at least during the day, LOL)
I use dandenong station frequently I always ask what platform I need to use as I simply prefer that . I have never had to change platforms like others have stated never had rude staff always polite. And if there not I make it a point to make them smile . The bus service is adequate I'm happy to see the 804 buses have been upgraded and a lot cleaner than the older bus . Overall yes it's a major station no it's not huge but it does the job and all I could complain is about the passengers themselves . The service is provided but people spitting and leavi g rubbish is not the train lines fault it's the people using the service . Mind you the trains could do with an upgrade they do look trashy
As a frequent traveller on the Cranbourne/Pakenham lines, this is seriously one of the worse train stations in existence. More times than I can even count, I’ve had my train terminate here on the way back home late at night with the next train being a 30-40 minute wait in the cold. And half the time, it is because they cannot seem to coordinate their trains or PTV timetables properly, with staff merely shrugging the matter off disrespectfully when I question why it is so disorganised. If I could give this station (and PTV as a whole) a 0/5, I would.
It is an important hub for the outer SE suburbs, as this is where the Cranbourne and Pakenham trains split (at night, this is where Cranbourne shuttles originate and terminate from). Not to mention, the many bus routes that radiate from here. The station has PSOs but at night, it feels a little dodgy. The amenities are pretty good. Seats - Decent amount Shelter - Pretty good. Toilets - They are around but dirty. Timetable - Has both paper and electronic. Parking - There is a carpark but it fills quickly Overall, it is an okay station.
Staff are very good and helpful but sorry.... that is not enough to warrant a higher rating. Considering this is a major transport hub servicing 2 MET lines, 1 V/Line route and a busy bus interchange, the TOILETS are totally inadequate! Come on PTV!... ONE cubicle and TWO urinals in the Mens' does not even come close! The staff try hard to keep the toilets clean, and supplied with paper and soap but I can't believe that numerous OH&S and Public Health requirements are not being seriously breached, especially in the current pandemic.
pretty bad here, although trains usually come quite frequently and the service is pretty consistent which is actually quite uncommon for Metro trains, there are usually dozens of ticket inspectors taking advantage of the elderly and children and genuinely seem to target this demographic. Once i also asked for help from the service desk to try and figure out which bus to catch and the guy at the desk was extremely rude, condescending and seemed more interested in playing angry birds on his phone.
I have not yet witnessed a single stabbing, so pretty good in my books, enough for me to give it three stars, I have however witnessed the glory that is the High Capacity Metro Train (H.C.M.T.) which absolutely brings the rating up to five stars, what a brilliant place to spend your day, perhaps on the way to work in the morning, or maybe on the way home from an evening out, kind regards, best wishes, I love you all
Platform 1 and Platform 2 is apparently the same platform. Do not believe the board that indicates which platform the train is leaving/arriving. We just missed a train because of this. We had to go back to the other platform, pushing my kid's pram back up and down the lifts again. Piece of advise. Throw away that announcement board. It's just using excess electricity, space, and people's time. Thank you.
Piss poor Metro Service. Connector train leaves empty as the masses from the city train head to it. Even the driver should be able to delay the departure (the train is waiting there) for one minute to ensure the connection. Full refunds and a schefule review is appropriate. Apologies do not replace service. Metro, you have done it again,
An absolutely filthy station in urgent need of an upgrade. Every aspect from platforms, to toilets, to vending machines are disgusting. I wasn't even able to purchase a drink as the vending machine was not responding to cash or card. Hopefully this station is on the list for an upgrade in the near future.
Really do not like Dandenong station. It is confusing with the indications; has a narrow platform despite being a populated suburb and the station itself is not spacious enough with all these people getting off and on the train. I go there only if I have to, otherwise I hate this station.
Perfect place for Birthday Parties, Weddings or even swingers parties food is amazingly served by polite and friendly staff at the window on platform 3, great place for people to get together and drink and smoke junkies only make it more interesting come by have the time of your life.
So hard to commute via this station!! There's so many commuters but when you're trying to find staff as you need to ask which train to get on it's"easier said than done". But the boards are confusing & do not help much either. Unless I really have to I don't travel through here much
During the day it's pretty good I haven't seen anything bad happen yet. how ever I would say don't go at night as their may be Eshays, vandals and Junkies who rome around the station at night. I have to say that the Bus system is reliable too. Overall it's a decent station.
Provably the least pleasing station in Melbourne. Strange layout with frequent platform changes, forcing you to haste up the stairs and check in and out again. Filthy vending machines. Little shelter. Hang around for 20 minutes and something dodgy will happen guaranteed
The layout of this train station is horrible. It is also a major transport hub and has a huge bus interchange. The demographic here is what it is. It isn't pleasant to be honest. It's certainly not welcoming or comfortable, and (more) security during the day is needed.
Have some mixed feelings about this station. It's large and modern. The location is good. It's close to businesses and plenty of food places. On the flip side, it feels quite unsafe and not the best place to come at night. There's often police here for that reason.
SE suburb transport hub. Regular trains to and from the Pakenham and Frankston lines to the city. Wheelchair friendly access via lift to platforms. Staffed at all times. Numerous bus bays at the entrance will get you anywhere you need to go.
I personally haven’t had any bad experiences around this station. You do see some odd scenarios take place around here though. Such is the way of Dandenong Station. I just wouldn’t go there at night. I don’t frequent there anymore, since I
This morning around 8am an Indian lady with a smirk sent my Vietnamese wife on an express bus to the city when she asked if it was going to springvale. It's cost her an uber and now missed an appointment. Racist employee
Trains as well as buses are usually on time when they are actually running, but you may encounter dodgy people while you're waiting. By dodgy I mean they're probably on drugs or they're drunk. But most people are fine.
Really need to clean up the station, the streets and backs of businesses oh hell jus burn it all and start again. jking But as a young a female I never feel very safe there on my own even during the day. …
Terrible service, half the time staff has no knowledge of train issues misguiding, tried to call this morning no answer the phone kept ringing. Train cancellation often without notice. Station is never kept clean.
It’s a train station, nothing too special but it is nice and quiet and the train arrived on time. When I went (a Wednesday around 11:30) there were no junkies and it was pretty empty at the station.
I dropped my phone when i got off the train from noble park station. All the staffs from noble park and dandenong station were really helpful. They found my phone. Thank you so much for helping me.
Only passed through here a few times, all of them at night, didnt really feel safe and there were always weirdos around yelling or drinking or causing trouble, would avoid if possible to be frank.
It's a medium sized manned station. It has 3 platforms with an elevator or a ramp to reach the other platforms. There is an ATM that charges a fee of $2.80 on the second floor.
Went down to dande for some meat, caught the train as soon as i get of the train i am met with 5 junkies surrounding me, they yelled profanities at me, 1/10 experience
It's a hub so a good thing is that there are many buses to different routes running from this station, it's usually crowded as a result and there are many shops nearby
Quite possibly the worst station in Victoria, unfortunately, also my local. There are always shady characters hanging around. Unsafe at night. Unsafe during the day.
Dandenong station is like a time capsuled train station of the 1980s. Facilities? Nope. Shelter from the sideways rain? Nope. Just pretty much nope all round really.
Very nice gentlemen offered to take my shoes for me as I left the station at 11pm and asked for the money in my wallet to pay for it. 10/10 service
Everyday there’s some train delays or cancellations. and the staffs aren’t well trained, how to deal with happy face with passengers.
Hahaha what a joke. Trains go to the wrong platforms and then just leave without waiting for passengers. 1 star is being generous.
I have no idea what people are complaining about in these reviews, there has never been more ways to die than at Dandy Station
Not a bad station. Just wish there was more security at night as it can be very daunting with the shadow people that come here
People here are revolting. The station is weirdly designed and there is a disgusting amount of vandalism. Just like Sunbury.
Sudanne's always fighting apex st is behind the plaza apex st to much trouble to enjoy the area try port Melbourne buitifull
Dandenong station has always been bad, but women here aren’t safe men are total creeps! I wish it was safer for people .
Very easy to access the station and the train services are frequent enough, more Myki barriers could be an improvement.
been rolled 13 times waiting for the train to flinders vending machines a little overpriced overall average, 4 stars
Pakenham trains not frequent in the peak evenings. Sometimes 2 or 3 Cranbourne services all come together
Got a fresh pair of tn's for free if you come to the station again (Jeffrey) I will take your air pods to
the safest station in all of victoria. truly my second home, dandenong station is in all of our hearts <3
It is rare to get train on time ♂️. In the app we see the time but they are behind their schedule. …
Busy railway station. Bus stops also. Toilets. Lifts n escalators. Kiosk outside. A walk into Dandenong.
Legit the mose sketchiest place youll ever be, late night and no police. In a place like this is dumb.
Lots of unpleasant characters here and staff trying to control them. Needs greater security presence.
eshays, vandals and junkies wander this station in the night, beware of them. needs more security.
Grim place to wait as your service is inevitably cancelled. I imagine pergatory to be similar.
Quite a transport hub. Vline to Bairnsdale stops here. Has a kiosk and disabled facilities.
The staffs are not trained well instead of helping they sarcasm that they know their job.
I go here often and its been the same since I was little dirty they need to clean it up
The best part about this place is that you can take a train that leaves Dandenong.
Terrible service. Took over 3 hours for a usual 1 hour journey to Pakenham
Locking up Topher for incitement. You people serve us not the corrupt gov
decent service. Could be cleaner but then again, it's a public station
New grades have made this place a whole lot more pleasing than before.
Can be dirty at times. Confusing layout and constant platform changes.
Someone took a dump on the seat across from me and didn’t care a bit
Don't use vending machines.....took my money and didn't pay out.....
3 different train lines that lead to different areas in Melbourne.
Try to avoid travel after dark, lots of drunkards hang out nearby.
Great place locals friendly taxis everywhere and bus stops too
if you want to live DO NOT take a train here when it gets dark
Good street to get indian stuff foods, clothings, spices
love this station is beautiful i would go for a kebab
Train took more then an hour for a normal 7 mins trip
It's a good place except nuisance in train station
Trains to CBD can be taken. Toilets were very bad.
Horrible station . Don't like going there at all
never willingly go here worst mistake of my life
Train is 3 hrs late and it smells funky. 1/5
Interchange betwee Cranbourne and Pakenham.
Good service with high comfort accessories
It's okay but un upgrade would be ideal.
