On Friday I had an appointment for my beautiful lab Coco, who has been having hip and walking difficulties for a few days. I took her to see her vet Dr. Krieger, who has seen her for a few years for basic care and vaccinations. I was definitely scared for her so my husband had to take her in while awaited outside. Dr. Krieger walked in asked what was going on with Coco, my husband described her issue, she says well let’s get an x- ray to diagnose her. I come in a ask what’s going on the assistant explained she needed an x-ray so we agreed. They take Coco away and about 5 min later the assistant comes back with a bill for $823.00 which includes an X-ray fo $175 and 2 other x-rays for at another $110. Blood test for $230, sedation for $117 plus the office visit for $70 and last but not least medication $ 120. Yet, she hasn’t been diagnosed but they already know what medication to give her ? But that’s not the worst thing, I now have to explain I cannot afford the charge and ask what can we do. The assistant says let me talk to the Dr. 5 min later here comes another assistant with Coco, she hands Coco over to me and says you can take her to the ASPCA. I was so confused because I couldn’t afford $823. They were not willing to help Coco? They didn’t even try to offer a payment plan? Or try another way with less charges. So, I did as they suggested I left. I then get a call from the office because they had prepared medication for her and I didn't pay the office visit. I explained I didn’t want the medication for $110 dollars when the medication was offered before a diagnosis was even given and that particular medication can also be bought on line for less then $20.00 and since the Dr didn’t give her an exam I wasn’t going to pay the $70 visit charge. I was then repeatedly chastised by text from either the assistant or the Dr. I explained how offended and hurt I was at the treatment Coco and I received, at no point during our 10 min visit did they put my Coco well being first. I understand it’s a business but there are better ways of handling such issues. Sad to say this is not a place you should bring your best friend for care unless you have money a lot of it!
This recent visit will be my last visit. I've had 3 previous visits all with appointments, each time with the "appointments" I still had to end up waiting 30-45 mins before even being seen. But today was completely unacceptable. I had my "appointment" for 11:30 (social distancing I understand) but I did not finish until 1:30. It took 1 hr and 45 mins before even being spoken to by a staff and it was just asking to do blood work, and when I declined blood work it took 15 mins to finish up and take my money with no explanation but instructions for medication. There was no sort of consultation of what my options were, just a load of pills, a shot and medicated shampoo. While waiting and felt ignored there was 2 prior ladies that was there before me, one did not finish till 1 pm. I'm not sure what time she came but we both just sat around with the doctor not even coming to consult us. Yes folks you read that right, the doctor did not come out. Not for me, not for the other 2 not even for anyone else I imagine. While I was waiting I counted a total of 8 people (11 pets including mine and the prior 2) bringing in their pets. Makes you wonder, how does a small vet with one doctor and maybe 1 or 2 techs manage to properly diagnosis your pet correctly. I would understand maybe 2-3 pets an hour since they only have 2 or 3 rooms (from what I remember from my visit), but 4-5 pets? How are they being watched? Just tossed in a corner or tied up? Why were all the blinds down? Lots of why's with no answers. I understand this is a pandemic and mininal contact but this is not a one time fluke for me, my experiences has been roughly the same and each time I gave the benefit of the doubt. Safe to say this will be my last visit here, I would rather pay extra for a cab ride downtown to heart of harlem and be taken care of properly and on time of my appointment than walk 5 blocks to this place. Forgot to mention she took it upon herself to give my pet a shot without my consent or consultation. Beware, place feels less of a vet and more of a money pit to dump your cash. I'm in the hospitality business, I know a thing or two about service and this definitely was not it.
TLDR: This business is shady. They lack genuine respect and transparency for owners. I hope they treat the pets better than the humans. Go here at your own risk. I'm trying to understand how anyone could give this place more than one star. They must have been to a different place. If you want to feel that you're completely left in the dark, you should go here. During COVID-19 this summer, they didn't allow owners into the office so you just hand them your dog and are supposed to trust them to do the right thing and do what you kindly ask for. Unfortunately, I trusted them with that. Halfway through the visit, they phoned me saying they needed his medical records to make sure he had not had the Lyme vaccine. They shared this test alone would cost $65 which was enough to make me jump through hoops to rush them the medical records that showed no vaccine (I later went to another vet who just trusted me at my word regarding vaccines which was a welcome change). Anyway, I clearly asked them not to run the vaccine test and showed them proof that he had not been vaccinated. To my surprise, they did it anyway and charged me an extra $65 without asking. My husband picked the dog up and didn't know any better so he paid it. When I asked for a refund the next day, they refused. They went against my will and ran a test I explicitly denied. I had to call credit card company to get it cancelled. I let it go since we got our money back. But now I am writing this review because of my latest and last interaction with them: Today I wanted to bring my dog in for some paperwork we need, and they said I had an outstanding balance which was news to me because they had never billed me for it. They wanted me to "pay back" the $65 that they never should have charged me for! The audacity and lack of respect and human decency were outstanding. I have to say the woman on the phone was super sweet and she was clearly getting crooked direction from her higher-ups. I ended up going to another vet up the street who was MUCH better. They had much greater respect for owners and actually did what I asked.
Brought my 13 year old cat here twice but I'm moving on to another clinic for her care. Everyone there is quite lovely, both times it was very easy to get an appointment, and waiting times were not unreasonable. First time was she was brought in for what turned out to be gastritis. They did the bloodwork in-house, took some X-rays, and the vet called me 2 days later to talk about all the results. Second time she was brought in on a Tuesday because she had stopped eating over the course of a week and hadn't drank water in over 24 hours. They found fleas so they did an Anaplasma PCR blood test that had to be outsourced, the regular in-house blood panel, and xrays that also get reviewed externally so require 2-3 days to get back. By Friday noontime I call to follow up because my cat has once again stopped eating. Three hours later I was sent her bloodwork results without the PCR result and the radiology report but not the images, they called me and told to take her to an emergency vet clinic. I asked if I would get a call back from the vet once the PCR results came back and was told yes. I asked when could I expect that call and was told there was a delay with the lab so if i didnt get a call by the end of Friday I'd get a call Saturday. Nothing all weekend but they're closed on Sundays so wasn't expecting a call then. I called today (Monday) in the morning and was told I'd get a call back by the end of today. I called back about 45 minutes before they closed once again asking about the PCR test, was put on hold 20 minutes to be told it was negative. I quickly relayed part of what I was told at the emergency vet during both visits and once again I asked if the vet would call me back to discuss the results, was put on hold briefly then told that I had already been told everything that I needed to know. There was some back and forth regarding their procedures and what my expectations were regarding the situation. Ultimately I just said I was too angry and overwhelmed to stay on the phone said good bye, wished them a good day/night and hung up.
My appointment was at 4:40 but I didn't get seen until 6:05. Said they needed to wait for a room for big dogs. Well why did your schedule me for 4:40 then. I left work an hour early for this and it was a complete waste of time. I asked how long the wait would be and the guy was like "2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. I don't know" At 5:07 I went up to the desk and said that I've been waiting for 27 minutes. She said your appointment was at 4:40 with an attitude...like I don't know that. Then she said it's been 16 minutes, unless my brain has fallen out of my head 4:40 to 5:07 is 27 minutes not 16. I said I needed three vaccines and a physical exam. After that was done, the man said now all we need to do is a blood test. I asked how much it was and he said $87. Did I ask for a blood test??? They were just gonna do it anyways without asking me and then charge me for it. He said I would need a heartworm test for a year's supply of medicine. I have 11 months worth, I don't need a new prescription, but thanks for asking. He made it seem like it was a regular, included part. I'm not doing random tests for a young, healthy dog. Then when I was checking out at the end the lady said my bill is $350. No it's not. They charged me for a fecal test which I did not get because I didn't even bring a sample. Why would you charge me for something I didn't get or ask for any just randomly put it on there. She said they normally charge before and then do it after. Huh?Do I look like an idiot? In what world does that make sense? Why would I preemptively pay for a service I'm not getting. If I didn't speak up for myself they would've charged me an extra $174 for the blood and fecal test that I did not get. Dishonest and shady practices. I almost left..terrible
These people are dishonest and cannot be trusted. They will give you a quote for a service and end up charging you twice what they said. Here, it is more about them making money off of you and less about taking care of your pet. Do not go here, save yourself from the stress and outrage. These people are untrustworthy. *This office initially gave me a quote of $370 for all the services plus an additional $35 for each tooth that needed to be extracted. No teeth were extracted however, I ended up being charged $500. This additional difference includes a "biohazard medical waste fee" and consultation that I was not present for nor authorized. How is it that I can drop my dog off for a procedure expecting to pay for the services originally planned for and end up being charged for extraneous services that I did not authorize and for all I know were not even administered as I (the owner) was not there. How do you "consult" with a dog if the owner is not there. How will the dog bring forth any concerns himself? My point is, you gave me your word on a price and did not honor your word. You are not sorry. You were rude and unprofessional in person when I tried to dispute the price and now want to portray otherwise so you can keep deceiving future clients. I never spoke to you about my dog doing great. Also, my dog had not been to THIS vets office in two years because I was taking him elsewhere. This business is completely deceitful and unethical. You took advantage of my poor dog's situation which is horrific considering that you are people who "care" for animals. I hope the extra money you got out of me goes to great lengths because I will never be coming back here again.
Grossly Inadequate I gave this place a try, and it was an awful experience. Because of Covid-19, I dropped my dog off for her visit (totally understandable). However, the veterinarian never called while she was examining my dog, nor was she available to answer my questions. Instead, I was sent home with hundreds of dollars of meds before my dog’s test results came back (the following day, my dog tested negative for what the meds were for). An assistant called to tell me my dog had heartworms (not the veterinarian). I had a ton of questions, which the assistant could not answer. I had to repeatedly ask to talk to the vet on the phone, only to get a call after 9 p.m. The veterinarian was not helpful, could not give me any information on how to care for my dog before her treatment started (other than to get a second test and x-ray at another clinic). Moreover, she gave me information that other veterinarians told me is false (for example, that she may have tested positive because she had anti-bodies, while the test was positive for the antigen). It’s critical that dogs stay calm and to limit their exercise once diagnosed with heartworms. Any veterinarian should have stressed this after giving the diagnosis. I had to find out by calling other veterinarians and doing my own research. After spending over $500 in 2 days, you would expect more from your veterinarian. Because you cannot meet with the veterinarians yourself during Covid-19, I believe it’s crucial to find a veterinarian who relays accurate information efficiently. This clinic failed to do that and only threw unnecessary medications at me without answering my questions.
Used this vet for my cats for years because of convenience due to the location being so close to my apartment. Countless errors and unprofessional encounters with the front desk staff and vet techs during this time. Approval of vaccines/treatments without my consent resulted in my cats getting vaccines I had previously asked not to get(I only wanted the 1 year rabies vaccine, not the 3 year since there are potential negative side effects, but they ignored this request). Most recently had my kitten become very ill and if we hadn't switched vets, I think she would've died under the care of this staff. Dr. Krieger claims she had a complicated case and they couldn't be sure what her diagnosis is after examining her and doing testing. I was talked at in a rushed way, without much explanation as if I understand medical terminology while she was yelling at staff in the background of the phone call. When I explained this to the front of staff and asked for more explanation of the results and explanation of the further testing they were running, they were unbelievably rude and unprofessional telling me I should already know because I spoke to the doctor previously. After a week of terrible service leaving us emotionally distraught and without any progress, we changed vet offices and after being seen once by a different vet, she immediately got the correct diagnosis and support for treatment. I only write this review to urge you to not go here so that your pet gets the correct attention and care. Nothing they say or do can make up for all of the negative reviews and traumatizing experiences you're reading about this vet office.
I brought my cat in due to some scratches on her face. The tech that took our information was pleasant and thorough. Dr Ortiz was a ✨ nightmare ✨ He gave us a set of information and protocol as to how to treat my cat for the next 7-10 days. The tech (+ 1) come in. One tech says they’re giving antibiotic via syringe because of higher efficacy and that I would not need to purchase additional antibiotics. Tech 2 proceeds to give syringe to my cat - without fully informing me as to what it was, possible side effects etc (ie: informed consent) and then tech 2 proceeds to tell me I will need to order an antibiotic via mail to give orally. When I question this information - as I had literally just been told she wouldn’t need any other antibiotics - the tech doubled down his assertion and then both techs left to have Dr Ortiz come back in. Dr Ortiz’s stated the cat would not need antibiotics, but rather an antihistamine (a COMPLETELY different class of medication). He then stated he was not responsible for what the techs stated as he was not a full time vet there, but rather came in on a temp basis. I am INCREDIBLY frustrated at how they dismissed my concerns over the conflicting information from staff members, after which point I was invited to find another care provider. It is my experience that if you’re prescribing any sort of medication that all team Members involved in the care plan must be on the same page regarding dosages, types etc. this is inexcusable.
The vet techs here do not care for informed consent. Dr. Ortiz said we would get an oral solution antibiotic and allergy medication. When 2 vet techs came in with a needle we asked what it was. They mentioned antibiotics. Confused we tried to ask questions when the vet tech just jabbed the needle into our cat. That's illegal. When confronted the offending vet tech said "I wasn't here first so I didn't know." That is unacceptable behavior. You MUST inform us before giving medication. Then the vet techs told us we would go home with a prescription for more antibiotics. When asked why they could provide no explanation they had to get Dr. Ortiz. He made no apologies for the apparent malpractice. He offered the explanation that "I'm not at this office often so idk about procedures" as to why the vet techs couldn't explain what the medication was, it's effectiveness vs the oral solution, or why we needed a prescription for more if it was "stronger" (turns out its not. And more was not necessary. They were just that uninformed). When pressed further Dr. Ortiz invited us to use a separate veterinarian office. Why? 152 dollars for them to tell us we would not even get the doctors notes until Tuesday. But a bill is always available to print out
I went to put my cat asleep on a Saturday, the doctor was sweet and suggested she do some blood work on my cat to see if he had a chance to get better. She felt his throat and said his thyroid was enlarged. Of course being a cat mom I agreed. My cat came home with me the same day along with medication. Soon as I got home and took my cat out the carrier he was very weak he couldn’t walk his eyes were barely open. Just a hour before his visit my cat was walking meowing, eyes open and in much better shape then after his visit. I was told he was only getting blood drawn so I was confused to why he was in such bad shape. Needless to say he passed away the next morning. I watched him suffer right before he passed. He threw up and started gasping for air in his final moments. I can’t help but feel at fault. Here it is I brought him in to have a peaceful death. And was given false hope of more life for him. I believe he was given something he shouldn’t have been given because I told the vet what happened and I received a call saying he didn’t have a enlarged thyroid he had something more serious. A refund was offered to me and I’m waiting the results of his blood work.
Stay away from this doctor (Kreiger) for anything but MAYBE the most basic concerns. I brought my then puppy in 2017 for a cryptorchidectomy (removal of a non-descending testicle from the abdomen). The doctor performed the surgery, said it went well and sent my pup home. Just recently I happened to have an ultrasound done, which confirmed that his testicle never got removed, which means that my dog's testicle has been sitting in his abdomen for several years! I recall now that she never wanted to confirm with a follow-up ultrasound and was very dodgy when pressed about providing proof, etc. Dr. Kreiger literally put my dog at direct risk for developing cancer and dying prematurely due to her ignorance and down right malpractice. I should shut her down for this. Lets be clear: she performed a surgery she wasn't equipped or trained to perform, removed tissue that she couldn't confirm was the correct tissue, and finally, gave misleading information about the results.
I went today, albeit slightly apprehensive after all the negative reviews, for my cat's annual check-up and vaccinations. They took my girl in quickly after I arrived and "checked-in" on my reasons for visiting. They then told me to come back in 20-minutes to pick her up. I was not a fan of this drop-off service but it's understandable given that they're trying to maintain the safety of their clients and staff throughout this pandemic; the gist is that I was afraid of being unable to gauge how well the vet and staff treated my pet (which is by far my most important criteria for a vet). Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised that they were done in the time they said they would and that it was just as affordable as my last vet. Overall, I'll continue to come here for my cat's annual visits and hoping things improve on the COVID side so that I can get a better sense of how the vet is like with my baby.
DO NOT GO HERE, STAFF IS NEGLIGENT. I took my cat here because of the proximity and financial constraints. Unfortunately, they didn't examine him properly. But they charge all clients these exam fees. The vet and tech missed his ingrown nail which is now becoming infected. I believe it was purposefully ignored to get us to come in and bill more money. THESE ARE PREDATORY business practices which risk your pets health, all in the effort of trying to bill you more. It's a shame that this place identifies as a community vet, when all they do is exploit the people here and their pets. Please do not go here look at other reviews. I will be reaching out to the local politicians in our community to let them know what's going on. Please GET OUT of our community if you don't want to do your job. They wouldn't even provide a complimentary visit to address the issue which prove my point.
Went in for an ear infection for my dog, it’s been over a week and I still don’t have his medication. he’s suffering with so much pain and I still don’t have his medication. I called a vet in Harlem today, and they conduct ear infection testing ON SITE instead of sending it off AND they charge half the price. $400 later and my dog is still in pain!! There’s no excuse!!. Go somewhere else if your dog has an ear infection, like a clinic who does the culture sample in-house to prevent excessive wait times and to prevent the further suffering of your dog in the process. Yes the people here are friendly, but that doesn’t off set the health of my dog. It’s August 30 y’all and STILL HAVE NO MEDS AND ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS SINCE MY DOG WAS SEEN!! I PAID $400 for my dog to be healed of a simple ear infection and my dog is still suffering and no one seems to care and all I hear are excuses…
Poor experience all around. My cat was brought twice to this vet regarding a rash on its lower belly Seeing no improvement I decided to bring it a third time while making a point to the vet that $75 (consultation fee) + treatment each time I go there for something that was not being resolved, started to add up. I was told that blood work will be needed this time around and that they will waive the consultation fee as a business gesture. Once there, they denied that they made that claim and that I would have to pay (again) for the consultation fee. I was obviously not ok with that.. When told about the situation the vet assistant Elisabeth became very defensive and rude, arguing and yelling at me outside the clinic. She became so belligerent, borderline vulgar that I decided to ask for my cat back and bring my business somewhere else. No customer skills at all...
This veterinary clinic truly deserves 5 stars+. I came from Armory Cat & Dog Hospital in Kingsbridge to this clinic because it was recommended by my friend and LET ME TELL YOU GUYS how much of a difference there has been since. The staff and doctor are super nice, very responsive. The doctor definitely knows what she's doing. It was my first time bringing both of my dogs and she evaluated them so well that she noticed other issues that weren't diagnosed in our old vet clinic. That alone meant a lot to me. She's also just as concerned as us, pet owners, and wants to get your pets the help or treatment they need asap. I can tell she treats every pet as if they were her own. Lastly, their price is very reasonable and affordable compared to my old vet clinic. We will definitely be staying with Community Vet and I thank my friend for her recommendation!
This is the best Vet experience I could have asked for! My rescue bulldog, Rock, has a lot of anxiety and can be aggressive in situations where people are poking and prodding him. Dr. Krieger and her whole team took the time and attention to learn about Rock and to work with us to get all checked out. They were kind, attentive, listened to all of my concerns, and answered all of my questions. Even when Rock was being aggressive Dr. Krieger used a soothing voice and called him a good boy. Our experiences prior to Community Veterinary Medicine have been awful, stressful, and I usually walked away with more questions than answers. But this entire team from the front desk staff, to the techs, to Dr. Krieger herself have made a world of difference making us feel welcome and heard. I could not recommend this place more!
The wait time was excessive. I was waiting for at least an hour and a half, possibly 2 hours in the waiting room/exam room. When the doctor finally came in, I felt like she was super rushed and didn’t ask questions or get any history. The chief complaint was ignored. She flipped through my pet’s fur and said he has fleas because she saw an open abrasion that she thought was from him scratching himself. I know my pet, and he does not have fleas. But if she would have taken time to get a good history, I would have told her it’s because he sometimes plays too rough with my other pet. This led to unnecessary emotional stress, expensive medications and a large bill for the visit. I felt like I wasted my time and money. And I left with more questions than answers. Not a good experience. However, the tech/nurse was nice.
Well I'm really frustrated with the young lady ( Spanish) Sept 17 1130am she was little rude by the phone , also little rude when she give back my pet. I think doctors there is not anything to with this. Customers service they need to fix that.. last week i came and the other lady was so nice and respectful.. today was different lady she even was happy.. i not happy with my service today. When she spoke to me my pet need another vaccine , i tell her i can do it next time . She want to do it today.. i say no. That not professional and she was upsetting becuase that. Need professional ppl there to treat our customers better and professional services. We can't accept things like that.. I kno the veterinarian doing excellent job to out animals. Need to fix the customers services better and need to be professional.
I don't understand how this place has good reviews. My cat and I didn’t have a good experience there. Long wait times, and a rude receptionist. My cat was terrified by the way she was handled, and the vet proposed issues with my cat without even running any tests on her first (it turned out not to be the issue he originally proposed). I noticed other owners leaving with their animals midway through their appointments since the animals were so stressed. I've never experienced this in any other vet clinic. It was an extremely stressful visit. UPDATE: The clinic reached out and still couldn't spell my name correctly after typing my name and telling them to correct it NUMEROUS times. They need better customer service as well. I will definitely not be returning.
December 8th - The vet assistant or receptionist (I don't know her position because she didn't introduce herself) was very friendly but she didn't explain the diagnosis or rationale for the prescriptions. I didn't like that she just brought the receipt and medications, instead of educating me about the disease or care. I do appreciate that I emailed Dr. Krieger and she answered immediately and clarified my concerns. December 16th - The cat tested positive for toxocara but they did NOT tell me that she needed another fecal test in 3 weeks after completing medication (I learned about this when I requested the medical record). January 18th - I decided to give this place another try. I went because my cat had DIARRHEA. They charged me $30 for an EYE EXAM.
The office is convenient and within walking distance...that’s where the positive experience ends. Took my puppy there and thanks to COVID you’re not allowed to enter or even meet with anyone but the receptionist. They just take your pet and are very curt if you have any questions. Both times our puppy was taken and we waited outside for what seemed forever. You really have to trust that the staff is treating your pet with more care than they showed us. Then the paperwork was illegible because the printer seemed to be low on ink and they refused to update the paperwork we brought with us. The only writing you can see clearly is the bill which was way more than we were told it would be over the phone.
I took my dog here recently & at first everyone is really nice & welcoming but we went their initially to get her shots. She ended up 'not being able' to take those shots cause an infection complication. So they just petted her 4 times drew blood & sent us on our way to the front. Everything took less then 6 mins. They ended up charging us $400 total for a visit & a blood test. We didn't go there for a blood test originally & they made it sound like this visit was going to have to be rescheduled and in the most I'll be charge was a visit fee but they scammed and charged an outrageous amount. Make sure you know what you're paying for before coming here. I will never come to this scam center again!
The Doctor and Staff at Community Veterinary Medicine were beyond helpful and accommodating. I called the day off the issue and thankfully they were able to slot me to see the doctor the same day! This was the first time Mr. Rufo (cat) went to this clinic. The cat was a bit anxious and nervous when we arrived but thankfully the staff was patient and able to calm him down (and myself as my anxiety level was up the roof ). After they diagnosed the cat they proceeded to provide me with an estimate of the bill. Thankfully I was able to select the best treatment based on what we were able to afford. Thank you so much for assisting me/my family!!
Don't let the google reviews fool you. Read YELP. We have been there twice trying to help my puppy's digestive issues. They just told me he has colitis (the second time) and give him probiotics. They did not ask about his food or anything. I've never actually met or talked to the vet. They did not explain what to feed dog with this issue nothing. I'm on you tube and google trying to find out. I called another Vet to get a serving opinion. They don't have appointments until next month but they were able to give me detailed information about treating colitis The staff are really nice
Its a hit or miss with the Front desk technicians. If one is having a bad day, you will feel it . Total lack of professionalism. They lost my dog stool to do testing and i had to do it again. They do sneaky things in order to charge alot instead of being transparent with no only the cost but what's necessary for your dog. My final straw was the very disrespectful technician who made me feel like i was not worth the time and energy to get results back .Definitely will not be coming back which is unfortunate because i liked the male doctor and spent over $900 at this Vet
TL/DR Don’t waste your time or MONEY Unresponsive and rude. Vet told me my pet needed surgery (scary!) and then did close to nothing to help me find a surgeon. Why would you make me pay for X-rays when you knew you had no one at your disposable to do anything with the scans!?! No sense, literally just a cash grab. Front desk staff are kind I suppose but I requested my pups full record history multiple times and I’m still sitting here waiting for them. What is kindness when I can’t get the things I need to help my puppy WALK!! Wish I could get my money back honestly.
I have 3 senior cats, all with varying degrees of friendliness. The entire staff was pleasant, professional , and kind. All three of my cats barely complained (except for the shots) while in the office. It is a testament to me when my giant scardy cat that is afraid of his own shadow was calm and willing to let her examine and carry him. I have gone to the ASPCA and the Humane Society, to other private Vets and never have I felt so confident in the care my fur babies received at a fair price. I will recommend this clinic time and time again.
The receptionist answering the phone, has the BIGGEST attitude. I’m trying to ask questions and get things figured out that should have been done on Friday when I called, she got annoyed and treated me like I was stupid. She wouldn’t let me finish asking my question for her to give me the answer I was looking for. Then she hung up on me! Very unprofessional. I hate I brought my dog here because who knows what negligence happened if even the front desk doesn’t care! Seems like a bunch of people agree that this place isn’t good for our pets
I took my 3 month old kitten here and was told she had tested positive for FevL. The vet that told me told me in the coldest manner and then did not tell me anything about next steps, treatments, additional testing. In addition to that, the vet bill was incredibly expensive and they charged for things they didn't even perform on her. I was given the bare minimum explanation on what FevL was and I thought my cat had cancer. No clarification I was devastated. Looking for a new place to retest her and researching on my own. Robbery of money.
I have never written a review for any business I've frequented, but I felt compelled to write one for this community practice. The entire time I've had my boxer dog (8 years), we took her to Banfield where, even with insurance, the costs for her care were pretty extreme. This vet practice is affordable; the doctors are patient and knowledgable; and they dont tack on unnecessary procedures. One of the kindest things the vet did was show us how to tell when something is inflamed. This place is great, and I highly recommend it. Thank you :)
I made an appointment for my puppy Honey for 1:20pm I arrived around 1:05pm. I waited till 1:50pm to be called in a room. 2:20pm The doctor never showed up or even went in the room to say they be right in. The person who came at 1:45pm got seen before us. That is not service I except. I walked out and told them I was leaving couldn’t wait any more. The girl in the front just offer to reschedule. I never want to go back there again… I puppy deserve good care where she will be treated the way we deserve. We are paying for a service.
I had so many concerns about my husky before i came here, she didn't want to eat, had an ongoing period/infection and she'd always want to eat everything BUT her food. After the visit, the doctor gave me a few medications for her and about a week later of giving her the medication everyday, she was eating all her food! Her infection went away, and she doesn't destroy anything anymore (since she'd always want to eat anything else besides her food). The pricing was reasonable, good and the staff was amazing. Thank you so much!
Took Cat in for straining in the cat box. They charged me $600 and gave me a fecal and urine kit to take home and obtain samples from my cat. I submitted 2 fecal samples and they took blood and still have no clue what is wrong with my cat. They just left me hanging with no update. I had to keep calling for answers and for his medical chart. Til this day 6 weeks later, Absolutely nothing and now they want me to bring him back for an xray. Just a scam for more money. BEWARE. Had to take my Cat elsewhere.
Taking your pet to the vet when they have an issue can be so scary for them and us owners. I was very grateful they were able to see Roxanne the same day I called and sent us home with medicines and an ointment to quickly help. The desk staff are incredibly kind and understanding, and both the vet and the tech are outstanding and knowledgeable. I know Roxanne is in good hands here! The wait can be long, but it’s worth it. They genuinely care and want the best for your pet! I’m so happy I found them.
Incredibly disappointed and frustrated. I took my dog for a routine thing - expressing his anal glands - which is usually done at most vet offices for $20-30. The vet tech was unable to do, so I ended up getting charged for a full vet visit ($50). Additionally she charged me for $60 worth of medicine that my dog did not need. So the total bill was over $100!! For something that should have cost $20. I am beyond frustrated and wish I never went. The staff was very nice, the only consolation.
Sooo sooo please with this place! Went for the first time 5/2019 with my brand new puppy and our 4.5year old cat. The front desk was so helpful and sweet! The Dr. is wonderful! They all truly care for each pet and take the time to make sure they’re comfortable. Prices are not bad (I only have Kentucky prices to compare to and they were nearly the same price). Roughly $180 for puppy visit, shots, and exam. I believe just a visit is $40, which is great! Would recommend to anyone in the area.
My experience at this Clinic was excellent! Although I couldn't go in or see the doctor due to the current situation in the city, the Dr's assistant Elizabeth and the secretary Esther were very helpful and always answered my questions about my cats situation, also Dr. Krieger called me to explain the procedure that was done to my pet she was patient and professional at all times! Totally recommend this Veterinarian service! The rates are Ok not cheap but fair, I would return if needed.
Discriminatory place! I went to get information about a growth in my dog's mouth, and I had to wait outside in the cold! And answer multiple questions before being let inside (it's my impression people of color need to be vetted before they can enter). Please check your cameras, because attached below is a receipt from whole food on 125th at 8:44am and your establishment opens at 9:00am. It takes longer than 16 minutes to get to 149 and Broadway from 125 Saint Nicholas.
Terrible wait time. I’ve been coming here for a year and continue to wait over an hour to be seen each time. They say it’s because of office availability but can still see other pets while I’ve already been checked in for 20 mins. Then there’s another 20 min wait once your inside the office. I only continue to come because of the walking distance to my house but this is not worth it. Not to mention the fees for a visit seems way overpriced. Last time I’ll come here.
Nice people but also negligent. Spent $350 on x-rays because they said there was an unknown lump in my cat. I've been calling for 2.5 weeks to receive results and they continued telling me "a doctor will get back to you regarding the results". They prescribed medicine that didn't aid the cause and made her worse. Since I started her on the medicine regimen they prescribed, her health got worse. I had to euthanize my cat today. I still don't have the x-ray results.
The worst service I’ve ever received. My appointments consistently start at minimum 20 minutes late and I’ve had some start up to 1 hour late. Plan at least 3 hours to visit. Not transparent in the slightest about their pricing and they WILL nickel and dime you for every little thing down to cotton swabs. Truly one of the worst experiences. If you’ve got an emergency or time sensitive trip to the vet just skip this place. They’re terrible.
We got a 2 month old puppy during the holidays. We brought him here for his first check up and the experience was amazing. The front desk staff, the technician, and the veterinarian were all friendly and attentive to our puppy’s needs. He had his second visit this week and once again an amazing experience while there and after the visit, they followed up to see how he was doing after his shots. I definitely recommend this place.
The worst experience at a vet of my life. Dr. Ortiz is amazing but the other vet Eduarda Krieger is borderline abusive. She grabbed and scruffed my sweet purring cat without even saying hello to me. When I expressed discontent, she was incredibly rude. I made her stop roughly handling my cat. She then tried to order tests that made no sense just to charge me tons of $$$$. Do NOT go to this vet or see Dr. Krieger EVER.
Absolutely hands down the best service from a veterinarian I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr.Krieger was excellent with my dog and showed him the most compassion I have seen from veterinarian in a long time. The pricing is very reasonable for their services. I fully recommend community veterinarian medicine to anyone who is in need of someone to take care of their animals.
Dr. Krieger is the best! Even though we moved out of this neighborhood, we still come here. The service is great, the pricing is good, and the staff is friendly. Just be realistic about wait times when you go. This is a doctors office and things come up. We always schedule our appointment on a day off in case there is an emergency that takes the doctor away from seeing us at our appointment time.
We are taking our 3 cats here. They are incredibly helpful and friendly. Dr. Krieger has been thorough about explaining what is going on when our cats get sick and what her recommendations for treatment are and why. The only complaint I have is that sometimes you end up waiting a long time in their waiting room because they can get busy. But, hey, At The Wallace is just across the street….
My cat had an emergency after getting a cut on his left leg. I quickly googled closest vet and found this place. Everything went well, they got him stitches for his cut. Only problem is that it cost more than $1,300 for stitches... I've gotten more stitches than him on a cut I got recently and it didn't cost nearly as much. I'll have to go to the vet I used to go to in Brooklyn next time.
My 3 month puppy male Chihuahua needed to be fixed. The service outstanding my puppy was running around the next day with no complications, the Doctor has a great hand, the incision clean and barely noticeable in days. I love my puppy, I would not dare take my baby Apollo Anywhere else. Dr Krieger is amazing, and her staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
I was super nervous to leave my old vets in BK but I shouldn't have been because this place is great! I've only been going during the pandemic and it's still been a great experience! The vet and front desk are super friendly and helpful; they've even been able to save me money by giving me the option to buy some medications for my dog online, a game changer!
The staff at this veterinary are so nice very friendly and speak with great passion for there job. The Doctor came outside to speak with me about my dog she was so patient with me in asking questions. The Doctor was very nice. They are reasonably priced and will work with you if your on a budget. I would recommend this veterinary without thought.
Dr. Krieger is a truly gifted veterinarian, skilled, instinctive and empathetic. Her fees are startlingly reasonable, as any New Yorker accustomed to veterinary services in this city can attest. Most importantly, her diagnosis is accurate and her treatment plans are effective. This practice is a community blessing NOT in disguise.
Loved this vet experience! Dr. Krieger and her assistants are kind and wonderful! I took both of my kittens there for their initial shots and checkups and later brought them back for their neutering. So glad I discovered Community Veterinarian! Also extremely reasonable compared to other New York City vets I've been to. THANKS!
Anyone leaving a positive review here must know the doctors which is why they are referred to by name. I had no contact with the vet (and it’s clear lots of others didn’t either), what they actually did, but was charged up the wahoo for it. A lady actually warned me on the street not to go here. I should have listened!
Everyone was polite and kind, very friendly. The prices are affordable. Clean rooms informative staff, kind and gentle doctor. Dr Krieger and I came up with a great plan to help my fur baby get back to his healthy self. I do warn you the no show fee is expensive. Do text or call them to inform them you are not coming.
We come to NY three times a years and absolutely will not take my dog anywhere else , The dedication ,knowledge, compassionate professionalism, responsive , and the love for animals coming from Dr. Eduarda Kriger are all we need . The Clinic is equip with the state of the Art technology . Strongly recommend . Ronit
I love Dr.Krieger n have highly recommended her services to others. She recently saw my 78lb Chow Chow, Loki, n Dr Krieger wasnt fazed by his 'typical' chow demeanor. She handled him like a champ, along with the usual love n patience. I take ALL my furbabies to be seen/treated by her including the ones I foster.
Staff is very attentive and professional. They recognized my pet and her history. I went for a Dental , blood work and antibiotics including visit, my bill was reasonable compared to my past experience in other practices. Definitely recommend this place to all! $450 was well spent for my dog/best friend!
We've taken out kittens here since we got them a year ago. The staff has always been very caring and considerate. The care provided had been excellent and we haven't had any issues or concerns. It's a great thing for the neighborhood to have such a wonderful place to take care of it pet-families.
easy online appt portal, thorough vets and not pushy about additional procedures etc. they also are well priced and very nice and friendly! they get back to you with results promptly and you don’t just fall through the cracks like at other vets. i’d recommend them to any pet owner!
I had a emergency with my dog that was very ill and they gave me a appointment the same day, the front desk and Dr.Eduarda Krieger was very nice she explained what was going on with my dog and she was very helpful, but the tech was kinda rude also the price is just to much.
I brought my dog here to get neutered, and the staff at Community Veterinary Medicine took great care of him throughout the entire process. They were very communicative and clearly invested in his wellbeing- thanks to your staff for helping us through this major milestone!
Had a wonderful experience today. The nurse and doctor were knowledgeable and efficient. My cat was calm and allowed the nurse to cut his nails which is something he usually doesn’t allow. The cost was very affordable. I would recommend and continue my cats care here.
Dr. Krieger and her staff are excellent! They are very gentle with our dog who is usually skittish with new people. Dr. Krieger is also very attentive and explains everything to the humans thoroughly. This practice is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood!
I had a great experience with a sick dog belong to a lady I help paying for the dog care. The staff are very good and the veterinarian Dr, she really loves dogs and threads them with love and compassion. If anything bring your dog here and is not so expensive.
First time visiting. My pet was treated with exceptional and professional veterinary care by the staff. First time in years I've been happy with the care she received. This practice is a very welcome addition to the Washington Heights community.
Took our 2 month old puppy here today. What a great experience. For one this appointment was last minute and the fit us in. They was so friendly and awesome. The wait time was so short it shocked me. They cared for our baby so sweetly. This
First time visitor, I took my Bloo to be checked due to a limp. I must say I am very pleased with the service I received by the entire staff. Office was clean and Prices were reasonable and affordable compared to most of the places I
Had an appointment today cause my dog had an ear infection and his left ear was swollen. The veterinarian that consulted me was an Asian veterinarian. It wasn't the usual lady veterinarian, that takes care of my dog. Anyway, he starts
I recognized my 16 year old cat was not herself. My usual vet had nothing I could manage over the next few days so we went to Community Veterinary Medicine. Sadly the vet, who was on vacation had a fill-in who was in a word, dreadful.
My wife and I have no complaints about Community Veterinary Medicine. Everytime we've had to take our cat, we're always met with patient, friendly, staff and doctors. Def recommend if you're looking for a nice space for your pet.
Although there can be long waits, the staff at Community Veterinary Medicine have been extremely helpful getting my cat the care and medication he needs. Their front desk staff are very attentive and kind. They’re a great clinic!
I had a great experience taking my cat here, who is usually very anxious with strangers but was calm during her vet visit. The doctor was kind and sweet to her and gave me clear instructions about her diagnosis and next steps.
Editing my original review... after 20 years of loyalty & defending this Dr & practice, I no longer stand by them. Currently its the total opposite... Very disappointing. Definitely encourage you to find another Vet practice.
Dr. Eduarda Kreiger is amazing. Staff is very polite and caring. Wait times can be long, going first thing in the morning is best. My dog loves it here so much that she wants to come in even though they are closed! Lol
staff is very thorough from front desk to doctor. I love how they tell you the cost before they proceed. it's also the first vet that my dog walks right into, no fuss and no problems. definitely recommend
It’s so important to have a vet nearby that you can trust. After 3 years of bringing my golden retriever, I’ve always had a positive experience with Community Veterinary. They are kind and trustworthy.
A really nice, friendly place. Clydeson especially was kind and patient with both me and Lucykins, and helped us figure out a plan that I could afford for the emergency situation Lucy was in.
Thank you for been there for my oso when I needed more the doctor is very professional thank you when I rescued him I didn’t no what to do but is now my baby
I am still undecided about this place. They were nice but I feel there was a little bit of a language barrier with the doctor and the technician which I didn't like.
I wouldn’t take you beloved creature here. They will falsely diagnose a “condition” for your dog in order to squeeze some extra money out of you.
They charge me so much money and didn't even help fix my dog leg injury and forced a bunch of drugs that the dog didn't need.
Affordable vet close to home. They may not have all the services of a larger vet but so far it’s been all we need.
The office staff and vet are so kind and patient! They took amazing care of my dog and treated her like their own.
Employees were very nice and answered all our questions. Short wait time. Our dog was treated very nice
Scam. They charge you a lot of money and waste your time to not help your pet. Don't go there.
They took such great care of our cat Temper, happy we chose them.
Excellent experience and care for my fur babies
