I'm a loyalist when I find remarkable customer service. It's a lost art form and everyone at Contender nails it!! From my first visit when Leighton greeted me immediately when I walked in and answered all my questions. Noticed my hat was hockey related and was very personal and welcoming. He proceeded to show me new rims and I was about two months away from even thinking about buying which I stated. That was no hesitation to answer my questions and better yet not try to sell me the most expensive rims they had hanging. He Asked me questions about my goals and riding style to determine an above average rim and one that I will be able to use for multiple occasions and for years to come. Peter, (Hope I got that right) Is an amazing person let alone employee of Contender! Always welcoming now that I visit probably way to often, and always willing to educate me even though I may not be buying anything that day. Everyone who helped me pick out a new helmet to talking about bike stands and group sets. Truly Amazing staff and Shop! I didn't even buy my bike there, But I will be buying my next bike from Contender!! Update: I bought my next bike BMC Roadmachine01 One last season 2019. I back my other bike into the garage and then had a certain amount to spend and specific needs for my bike. Of course Contender NAILED IT!! Fast forward to fall of 2019, I crashed and Contender not only rebuilt my bike better than before, but also contacted a couple companies to replace a couple items for me. Everyone at the shop has become great friends, and have introduced me to new best friends whom feel like we've known each other for a lifetime. Not only a great shop, but amazing people!

Called in on 3/22 asking about Santa Cruz bikes that may be in stock or on order. Ended up putting a down payment on a bike that was scheduled to arrive by end of March. Called back at the end of March asking for an update on estimated arrival. Customer service informed me that they didn't know the status based off the system. He said it probably shipped since it isn't showing up in the system, but said he would called me back to confirm. Two days go by and no response. I call back and ask about the status again. Same thing, they don't know the status and say that it should be here any day, but say they will find tracking and give me a call back. A few days go by, I call back a third time. Exact repeat of above, but they promise me that they will speak to the owner and Santa Cruz rep to figure out updated tracking. I don't get a response, so I call a fourth time before the shop closes and they are finally able to give a response on updated shipping of April 16. Not a huge deal that it will be late, but I feel that it was a huge effort to even get this information. For a bike shop that has such raving reviews, and sell such high class bikes, I would expect better transparency and updates on shipping/pickup dates especially for a bike that costs thousands of dollars. Seems like they need a more streamline tracking system between Company-Rep-Dealer. I do understand that the industry has been very busy due to covid, but this is true for every single industry right now that deals with manufacturing. Hoping that these dates stick and the pickup goes smoothly.

I was a ecommerce customer referred by Orbea US to CB as one of their exclusive dealers offering pre orders of a specific 2023 Orbea bike in my size with the MYO option. One must be prepared to wait, in my case about six months. It's my understanding that this is typical with pre orders no matter the bike manufacturer. In any case my overall experience was a good one considering I was buying a high end bike and doing it long distance from my residence in eastern Missouri. A lot can go very wrong in this scenario but didn't as customer service associate Nick Gaitan was responsive throughout the wait period answering my questions promptly and providing updates. He was also very accommodating to my request to install a personal part in place of the stock item at the time the bike was assembled. Contender Bikes utilizes a third party carrier TRUE BIKES that delivers to your doorstep the fully assembled bike ready to ride. No box or assembly required. You pay for that service as expected but I would have liked to have had the option to use Bikeflights, with whom I've had good experiences in the past. I would have gotten delivery in about 4 days rather than the nearly 2 weeks with TRUE. That being said it was nice to have the bike come off the truck ready to roll. There was a hiccup here and there but nothing serious. Without question I'd do it all again with CONTENDER, this is a great brick and mortar bike shop who from my perspective does everything very well.

My initial contact with Contender was through email. Ryan, the owner, responded quickly with answers to my questions whereas other dealers didn’t respond at all. Consequently, I started working with him to get a good deal on a road bike. I didn’t just receive a good deal but had such a great experience that it’s prompted me to write a review. From beginning to end I was blown away by the friendliness of the staff, the amazing selection, and the helpfulness of Ryan to get me into a bike that I was absolutely ecstatic about. All of the little add-ons sealed it for me that I can definitely say it’s worth driving into SLC from Utah Co to pick up your next bike. I assure you that you won’t just come away feeling good about your purchase but you’ll feel you’ve been adopted into a warm family along the way. That may sound cheesy but it’s true. Car dealerships should take a lesson from this place! Oh, and two more things. This place doesn’t charge you for a bike fitting which is awesome because several bike shops do. And lastly, i’m not receiving any kickbacks for this positive review. I just want all of my biking friends and future biking friends to have the same amazing experience I did. Contender has a customer for life!

Been to bike shops all over the country (I make it a point to visit bike shops when I travel). Never found a better shop than Contender. I was a little skeptical when I made my first purchase from them in 2009--an expensive French bike from a brand I wasn't too familiar with--but I enjoyed the test ride and the people were willing to answer my questions and get me all set up. Fast forward--six years later I've purchased nine bikes from them and have sent a dozen (more?) friends there to buy bikes as well. Their service is second to none, and they really take the time to do things right. On my last bike, I wanted to make a few upgrades, but Ryan, the owner, took the time to explain the costs and benefits and suggested that I save my money, which I found very helpful and upstanding. I now take all of my bikes there for service (tune ups, warranty work for non-Contender brands, overhauls, etc.), and they've never missed a deadline or a budget. I still visit other shops when I travel (and frequently browse shops here in Utah), but now it is to measure them against the standard Contender has set. I'll check back in here if I find a place with people as knowledgable, helpful, and friendly as the folks at Contender.

I’ve been an avid cyclist for a long time and have cycled through countless road bikes. The bike retail industry is a tough one which means it’s very difficult to find a genuinely friendly shop that’s willing to listen to you, the customer, and help you the way YOU need help. Not just about their own profit first. Well, Contender is that unicorn of a bike shop. I live in CA and heard about Ryan Littlefield (owner) and Contender from a riding buddy. I decided to give them a call about a new bike I’ve been eyeing. Sure enough, Ryan made me feel heard and valued right away. I didn’t feel like I was just another wallet to a bike shop. We had such a great first chat, I decided to purchase the bike within minutes. Ryan’s team built the bike to my exact spec (I’m beyond OCD) in perfect mechanical order and packaged the bike with so much care. The bike was shipped to CA in just a couple of days at an absolutely unbeatable price. I didn’t need to negotiate. Ryan was super fair. He beat other quotes I got by a mile. Sounds unreal but it’s been a dream purchase experience. I’d recommend Contender to beginners or the most discerning cyclists there are. They are truly a breath of fresh air in a tough industry.

I was looking for a '19 Santa Cruz 5010 locally (Central Florida) and my LBS couldn't get me one for 2 months or so. Happened to look online that night and came upon Contender Bicycles site. Sent an email and had a reply first thing the next morning from Ryan. He said he could get me what I was looking for by the end of the month (it was early August) for the same price as my LBS, but shipped to me. Bike came yesterday (8/29) and was well packed. He said it would be here by the end of the month and that held true. Ryan was super helpful throughout the whole process and very communicative, responding to emails in a timely fashion which is nice. When you're spending $4k for a bike at a shop across the country, that you've never stepped foot in or heard of, it's a little unnerving. But, I took the chance and I wouldn't hesitate to order a bike from them again. Price was right, customer service was excellent, what more could you ask for? Thanks again, Ryan!

I brought in a bike that needs a specific front brake. Upon further review with the shop I agreed to a much more extensive repair, but advised multiple times that this investment was for a work contract starting soon and expediting the process was a major priority. I was advised the bike should be in working order within 5 days at the earliest, but I would be contacted regardless with updates. A week passes; I contact and no progress has been made. Few days later I'm contacted advising another part needs to be purchased for the install to work. More time passes; I recontact and still not much done. 2 weeks past work contract bike was intended for, 2 1/2 from initial quote and the bike is done. Now I get to find out how long they hold them for customers who have reallocated their funds. Oh, and there's still at least $35 worth of repairs that don't "have" to be done, but are a good idea. Maybe I'll use that to buy me another week till the checks come in.

Bought a very expensive bike here a few months back. Getting ready for trip and wanted to swap out tires and put in tire insert. I first used the chat function on their website and was told it had slowed down a bit this week and they might be able to do it but just call the shop. I called the shop explained my needs and timeframe and was told they had time and could fit me in today. When I arrived staff at service desk not inviting….then told them what I was there for and they said they did not have inserts and would have to order them. The timeframe was in correct and they wasted my time. I am now at another shop downtown and they are doing everything as I wait. This is incredibly poor customer service especially after buying such an expensive bike. Consider shopping somewhere else for your new bike and bike repair. Many places will offer more support (tune ups with purchases etc….)and are much more friendly and don’t waste time.

Huge fan of Contender Bicycles - I've ridden their winter training class for the past 3 years and been in their club for the last two. Until this year I primarily used them for training, service, accessories and nutrition supplies. They offer a wide, smartly curated selection of the above and do quick special orders if it's not in stock or you want something custom. Everyone - Blake, Nick, Peter, Cody, Casey - are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They treat you like a friend but also like a respected customer and ensure you feel important regardless of what you're there for. I just purchased a 3T Exploro from them/Nick and couldn't be more confident with my decision and happier with the service, build quality by Blake, or the bike itself. Can't recommend this shop highly enough for any bike need you have. Buy from them. Rent from them. Browse with them. Everyone will make sure it's a positive, pleasant experience.

I bought a bike from Contender Bicycles from out-of-state. I was a little apprehensive about doing so. Luckily I was able to speak to the owner, Ryan. I was a bit high maintenance in that I do a great deal of research, but needed an expert opinion. He was able to break down the different qualities of the bikes I was interested in purchasing. I haven't found a shop that has been so informative, and searching the internet can lead to wrong information. My order was processed efficiently, and trading in my bike was seamless. Ryan was extremely good at following up with any of my questions throughout the process. Now riding the bike, I realize how "spot on" his descriptions were; this is essential when laying out a decent amount of money. I feel I couldn't have talked to a better person in directing me to my ideal bike.

Today was the last day I’ll support this business. Ive lived downtown 9 years now. Today I road my bike in to pick up brake pads. I was greates by a friendly staff standing by the outside bike rack and told him what I came for. Upon walking inside I asked where I could find brake pads. The reply was, ‘we can’t sell you brake pads unless we are doing the work.’ The reason was Covid back stocks. Covid or not, for an already over priced bike shop, this was ridiculous. So, I rode to Bingham Cyclery, also downtown. I asked for the pads and they acted NORMAL. I asked if they had heard or stock shortages or other shops on selling pads only if they did the work and the response I got was, “sounds like a shop trying to make extra money.” I totally agree. I don’t recommend contender and won’t be spending my money here again.

BEST SERVICE AND PEOPLE IN THE US!! It comes down to service. In a world where the bike shops don't really have to sell you on a bike as they have many people lined up to buy... Contender is still the shop i can go to and get above and beyond customer service. I live in the southeast and i have no less than 6 friends now riding bikes from Contender. I have the confidence that they can get better advice/service from a shop that is across the country. I recently bought a new road bike and was unable to see it or ride before purchase, Contender took the time to advise based upon my fit and riding style and i could not be more pleased. It is refreshing to get this level of service... Flyin' the Contender flag proudly in the southeast!! Matt DeWitt

Hello. Taught in Puerto Rico. I contacted the Contender Bike staff this April 2023. In order for them to understand me better, I requested a Spanish-speaking perdina. Mr. Iban, very attentive and helpful, helped me complete, clarify doubts and was present throughout the purchase and packing process to my country. They gave me a bottle rack with his piece. The bike was an Orbea Oiz M30 2022, I was lucky, only one was left. I'm going to enjoy it at . It will be my last bike since due to my age this one has to last me a long time. My 24 years have been full of wonderful stories through many bicycles with my best friend. As he tells me, I eat bicycles. ha. This is my basic story. Contender Bike is part of my story. . ❤️☺️

  • Scott Aberegg

Previous loyal customer of 10 years says there are 3 (or more!) reasons NOT go to Contender Bicycles: 1.) because the "mechanics" in the "repair shop" are, on average, subpar, and too often completely incompetent. Part of the problem is they either don't listen or don't document what you tell them about the problem when you take your bike in 2.) It is a running joke among the employees that when they see somebody come in wearing Danskos, they know a sucker has entered the store, and they can sell him anything. You have been warned. 3.) High grade trickle-down hostility (and just plain meanness) from the top adversely affects employees, giving them a very bad attitude that eventually you will experience when they finally snap.

No matter where you live, this is the high-end bike shop for you. I live on the East Coast and I’ve bought two bike frames from them; a BMC, and just recently a Time (GORGEOUS see pics). The owner is knowledgeable and more than fair. Ryan sold me the new frame and cockpit (Deda, also gorgeous). He checked the tire clearance with my tires and wheels, and best of all, he dialed in my fit, from looking at my current bike photos, and looked at older custom bike fit specs. It’s the best fit, most fun road bike I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some good ones! I highly recommend using this shop, for their knowledge, selection, and most importantly they make you feel like a valued customer!! #contenderbicycles #timebicycles #roadbike

I love Contender! They are like a walk-in bike doctor clinic. Turnaround times are great, even when they are busy. I recently had an issue with a sneaky chronic leak and they looked it over 3 separate times and finally identified the issue. They recently took back a faulty pump no questions asked. When I cant get a pedal off, they've just helped me with it. I've always felt welcome when I'm in the store. Staff are friendly and greet customers immediately upon arrival. They only sell quality gear so I know if I'm buying there I am getting a quality product, or at least with an excellent warranty! Ryan, the owner, I've known for years and is just a wonderful human so none of this comes as a surprise.

I could not express my appreciation enough for Ryan and his crew @ Contender. Having worked in the cycling industry for 7 years, I understand the standards of care that a customer deserves. Contender went above and beyond for me. I asked if they had a Scott Spark RC in stock (which is EXTREMELY RARE with COVID) - They were well stocked and ready to build up my bike the day of and had it ready for me to pick up in the evening. They got me sized up and the suspension dialed in right the first time. They even converted my wheels to tubeless without charging me. I will be a lifelong customer from here on out and a regular. So stoked for my new set of wheels! Thanks Contender!

I can be a finicky customer and can visit a shop for months before I buy; poking at & analyzing different bikes. The folks at Contender have been patient with me and I've only bought one bike from them since I first visited their shop over a year ago. I've found everyone I've worked with to be informative & quite knowledgable. When getting service done, I've found their work to be meticulously done. As for the shop itself, the building & inventory are about as top notch as you could expect. I was very happy with the deal I got on my Time, and I tend to analyze & shop around more than the average consumer. I think next time I may simplify and only shop at Contender.

Just rented some bikes from this shop last week while in Utah for work. The Contender team was top notch! The team at the shop was thorough, detail orientated, informative and very helpful! I highly recommend this bike shop, they have a huge inventory, excellent staff and customer focused care. Thanks Noah for the trail tips and getting the bike tuned up perfect! Owner Ryan was great and helped make the Demo rental process smooth and easy. there staff helped me decide on what bikes to ride and where to ride. Both online and on the phone was very user friendly. I will definitely use this Contender Bike shop the next trip I take to Utah, Thanks guys!

Contender has serviced my MTB for the past 4 years and always done a great job - on time. This year it was time to trade up. 1st stop Contender, as they were a familiar, well established shop, but I had others to hit if I didn’t see what I wanted or get the advice I needed. I sort of knew what I wanted but wanted to look at a few alternatives before spending $$$. Erica listened and helped pick out 3 great alternatives fitting my criteria (Scott/Intense/Santa Cruz). She dedicated as much time (no pressure) to me as i needed to go for a ride, make the right choice and pull the trigger. I’m super happy with Contender, Erica and my new ride. .

I just got through buying a bike with Joseph at Contender Bicycles and the experience was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and fast. This was a GREAT purchasing experience. Their delivery service specifically deals with shipping bikes so it was delivered to my house completely set up by a bike mechanic(!) and ready to go. All I had to do was install my own pedals. Update: There was a problem with the shifter cable and Contender was quick to help with the problem and promptly paid for a local LBS to fix it. Nick at Contender was fantastic to work with. You couldn't ask for a better experience. I HIGHLY recommend Contender.

  • Spencer Beard

Ryan and Peter have always treated me with the utmost respect, even before I become a loyal Contender customer. A few years ago I decided to venture into cycling (after a lifetime of playing only team sports) and had no clue where to start. Both Ryan and Peter answered all of my questions, found me the best deals, and didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need. If anything ever breaks or needs adjusting on my bikes, the mechanics are quick to get me back out on the trails as soon as possible. Everyone at Contender is outstanding - a fantastic shop with an even better crew. I've purchased four bikes from these guys and will keep coming back.

I bought online a santa cruz tallboy at a very good discounted price in labor day weekend. They ship through Thru transport and bike comes already assembled and ready to ride. My bike somehow got its derailleur hanger bent. So I contacted the shop and Nick took care of everything like immediately. Men what an excellent service. Things happen and I understand that 100% but what really matters is how things are resolved. Very happy with how everything was taken care off and how cool and educated Nick was. I recommend them 100% and would be buying from them again. Thank you very much

  • schwinnin427

The folks at Contender were professional, very friendly, informative, patient and responsive! Incredibly helpful, and they’ll go the extra mile to assist you in any way possible. They also recommended a bicycle delivery company called Kitzuma which had exceptional service; they’re bike people and they understand us bike people unlike other bike freight companies that ship bikes just because it’s a job. Best part is, they ship your bike 100% assembled instead of in a box! Check them out online, and request them. Thanks Alvin and everyone else at Contender. You have yourself a repeat customer. -Pat

  • Tomas Birkner de miguel

Not happy with this shop. I ordered a replacement hub for my bike and told them specifically the model I needed and they ordered the wrong one. Took me over a month and a half to get the right one. Then, I asked them not to install it since I could do it myself and save myself some $$ and they just did it and charged me for labor. The only reason I come to this shop is because they are the nearest Scott retailer but I promised myself this will be the last time. I am really unhappy and I never really had a good experience dealing with Scott warranty issues through them. Would not recommend.

  • Heike Larson

Great place to choose for boxing up a bike & getting it shipped! The team at Conten der was great to work with to ship the used bike I bought from SLC to SoCal. They were very responsive, shared photos, and boxed up the the bike professionally, with lots of foam padding around all key parts. They worked great with BikeFlights, the service I used for shipping. The bike arrived in great shape, and it was easy to re-assemble as they organized everything well in the box. Super happy with their work--if you need to get a bike boxed and shipped from the Salt Lake area, they are your people!

  • Madeleine Fulford

OK, my husband bought his e-bike a couple weeks ago, and I’ll likely follow his lead… here’s why. No pressure sales, they listened to his story…. 4 hip surgeries, 3 of which failed…. Can’t hike, ski, run marathons, etc like he used to. So he’s exploring new ways to work out and explore. He’s been online drooling over the latest carbon graveler e bikes, and when we walked in, Ryan heard the story, offered a great deal on an Orbea Gain with some customization…. He’s in love with the bike, and someday he’ll move it out of our living room.

  • James Read

They exceeded all my expectations!!! I brought my bike in for a tune-up. I was a bit reluctant to try a new place after being a loyal Wild Rose customer. But they took their time over my bike with me and identify all the work that needed to be done. Then they gave me an estimate, and a day it would be ready. I received a call the afternoon of the day specified. I picked it up and it was the price quoted. And the best thing about my is has never shifted or felt better. It's like have a new bike. Way to go guys!

  • Anne Findlay

always love this store for their awesome service and efforts they make to do repairs as soon as possible. They are so busy but also very professional and I have always been happy with their service dept as well as their retail store and other community services they offer. My derailleur cable was about to snap and they were able to repair it in time for a ride I had been looking forward to. Thank you! (Try to make an appointment for non-emergency stuff--they can usually fit you in pretty quickly!)

  • Bobbi Wilhelm

I drove three hours to test bikes at Contender. The folks at the bike shop were very helpful, answered all of my questions, and treated me like a well known customer. The advice & knowledge they shared was valuable and helpful. They have a large selection of bikes that many shops don't stock. I ended up buying a Time Alpe D'Huze from them, and they took the time to set-up the bike exactly how my PT had set-up my previous bike. Great service, excellent knowledge, and a really fun experience.

  • J E

Absolute tremendous experience today at Contender. Went to pick out a new mountain bike and had the pleasure of working with Cory in Sales. He did a tremendous job guiding me through the purchase, setting up a test ride, and finalizing the sale all within an hour. His level of knowledge made the purchase super fun. Absolute top notch crew at Contender. Even leaving Nick S. down stairs walked me through the upcoming maintenance cycles and made me feel at home. 100% 5 star business!! JT

  • Andrew Dickinson

Great selection of bikes and their sales staff is great but their service department is problematic. I took a wheel in one time to get trued as it had a hop in it and when I got it back still had the same hop but I was out $20. Bought a bike recently their this year, bar tape was wrapped poorly where some parts were not overlapping so that is going to have to be redone and the brake calipers were loose. Glad I checked those before my first ride or it could have ended badly.

  • Matt Crane

Sorry for the bad pic, but the experience was fantastic. I bought a used bike and leveraged the team at Contender to box it for my friend to ship to me. I never saw the bike in-person and used the team there to ensure it matched the pictures - they went above and beyond to explain the condition and where it would/would not need service. They were incredibly helpful and timely in getting it ready. I would highly recommend using them for service or a new purchase around SLC.

  • David Lloyd

Among the best bike shops in Salt Lake City in my opinion. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly, and they are always able to find a solution for my needs. On numerous occasions, I’ve brought an issue to them (e.g., seating a tubeless tire bead, re threading a cross threaded braze on, replacing a missing screw, etc.) and they’ve refused payment while still resolving my issue. I’ll continue to bring my business to them as long as I remain in the area.

  • Holly Justice

We mostly use the Park City location but have been to both with the same great friendly service! We are always greeted with genuine friendliness in the shop and they are always quick to help. I have used several other shops but with the quick turn around, getting it right the first time, and unbeatable nice guys in the shop, this is the only place we will go. Nicky is our go to guy but everyone in the shop is just as nice and good at what you do, thank you!

  • Pat McGinnis

Great Experience and fantastic shop. I was leaving on a trip and they stayed late night before to get it done before I left. The trip mattered to me and it mattered to them. The bike build was perfect. Service was perfect. They know bikes but have no attitude. Well rounded shop. If you want exceptional service and exceptional knowledge this is your place. Big thanks to Ryan and Peter for helping build the perfect bike for me. They can do the same for you.

  • B Brown

Can't say enough good things about Contender. Staff is always knowledgable, super professional and attentive to your needs whether you're spending $35 or $3500. Peter and Cody got me dialed on a Synapse Ultegra di2 at a great price, they even recommended that bike for my needs over other more expensive models. Can't imagine buying from an online retailer when such a rad local bike shop like Contender exists. #supportyourlocalbikeshop

  • Jenna Evans

Very impressed with the customer service, prices, and shipping! Ordered a couple of derailleur hangers for my Juliana as I was having a hard time finding somewhere to get them quick locally, and everywhere else was charging double to triple for the same part. Within half an hour of placing the order, I got an email that they had been shipped. Received within 2 business days over the 4th of July weekend, several states away.

  • Matt Larsen

This is the best bike shop in salt lake in my opinion. They are always super helpful with everything and are always willing to take a look at a bike. I have taken bikes in multiple times to have them looked at and they have either fixed them quickly or just told me how to fix it and not charged me. Their wait times for more lengthy fixes are usually a week and I can always trust them to do things right.

  • Kay Tran

Wow! Contender had my bike repaired in less than 24 hours during peak cycling season. The part was out of stock from the manufacturer but Contender provided one from their inventory. What an outstanding professional operation; diagnosis of my broken part was completed within minutes and every staff member treated me with respect and efficiency. Sincere appreciation for this team! Thank you!

  • Cody Carrigan

As someone just getting into cycling bike shops can be intimidating but the folks at Contender have been helpful with questions on anything and everything including just chatting about cool local rides. Recently had my bike serviced here and it came back feeling better than new, I even had a friend ride it to make sure it wasn’t just the placebo effect! If you’re in the area check ‘em out.

  • Chris Gay

Every single time I enter contender, I am greeted by a mechanic or desk person or Ryan. Every time I walk up the stairs or go to a different area I am greeted by another person asking if I can be helped. There’s a low-key but very friendly connected feeling to the staff. Customer service is outstanding. Products offered are outstanding. Prices are reasonable. Tune-ups very reasonable.

  • Brandon Wasser

High end bike shop with great service. I bought a bike online at a great price and it was promptly shipped to Montana. When i was passing through the bike rack broke on the interstate. Needless to say, the bikes needed work after that. They took care of us promptly and didn't cost an arm and leg. Chris was very knowledgeable and was able to fix a very bent wheel. Highly recommend.

  • Leo Mitraud

I bought an excellent demo trail Scott bike. Not only that, they were very attentive and helpful with my purchase. Everything online and by phone. They sent me pictures, I mean, real pictures with the scratches that others sellers might hide from your eyes. I liked very much! Very honest and great deal! I love my new bike and I’ll visit Contender shop when I can to meet the team.

Great bike shop. Couldn’t be more pleased with the mountain bike I bought there. Recently, damaged my dropper post and brought it in to be fixed. Rather than try to sell me the most expensive replacement they walked me through my options, after they tried fixing my old post first. Love the new post and appreciate them going the extra mile. Definitely longtime customer.

Bought a Pinarello Road bike from Contender and could not be more satisfied. Offered a very unique delivery method via THRU Bicycle and loved the process. Had a very minor problem with the bicycle and Contender more than rectified the problem (you always find out more about a company when a problem occurs than when everything goes perfectly). Would highly recommend.

These guys are amazing! Always willing to help and will solve minor issues so quickly, so there are no lost riding days! Any major issues are usually solved in a few days (depending on how many bikes they have to fix). I always find my self bringing all of my bikes to them and will continue to support their unwavering commitment to bikes and the people riding them.

Worked with the owner Ryan to arrange our purchase of a bike that I originally saw on Contender’s website. We drove 3 hours down to Salt Lake City to pick up the bike and it was 100% worth the drive. The staff at the shop were great and email correspondence with the owner Ryan was top notch. Would purchase another bike from them in the future. They also ship bikes.

I just ordered a bike from here this week. I live out of state so everything was done through email. Alison was incredibly helpful, patient and informative. She helped guide/find the right bike for me and my budget. I would highly recommend Contender to anyone local or out of state looking to find a great bike for their needs. Fantastic experience!

My bike broke on the first day of my trip to Utah. Brandon and the team at Contender came through . Not only were they the only shop to have the parts to get my bike fixed they also had the repairs completed the same day. I can’t say enough about the customer and mechanical service from this bike shop. Contender bicycles saved my vacation.

Edit: the shop contacted me and apologized for the miscommunication. They refunded the amount they charged me! Old: I spent several thousands of dollars on a brand new bike. In the first 3 weeks it developed it a pretty bad creak. I took it back to the shop and they charged me $70 to fix it. Seems a little unreasonable on such a new bike.

I love this bike shop! Peter, Zane and others have always been very knowledgeable, professional and helpful when I bought my road bike, mountain bike and other items from them! I really enjoy their group rides too! I highly recommend this shop! I am thrilled with my bikes too! Always a positive experience for me!

Contender Bicycles is a great shop with amazing customer service. I have bought 2 bikes from them and I super happy with them. They do a good job at sourcing the exact bikes that I want. They are very knowledgeable and they have helped me even after my bike was delivered. I would highly recommend them.

Special ordered a Gazelle non electric bike through their website. Customer service via the site was amazing. Didn't charge additional shipping for the special order. The follow up throughout the process was A+. I would recommend them over other suppliers of Gazelle bikes in the area.

The owner of this shop is very hands on. After 2 of his friendly mechanics struggled to figure out how to install an accessory that I brought in without instructions, he jumped in, fiddled with it and solved the mystery. He wanted to make sure I left happy, which I did. Thanks much!

Contender guys really helped us out today. We got a major flat tire on our ride so we walked the bike a mile to their store. Even though they were busy they put our bike right in the mix and got it totally fixed in less than 15 minutes, very friendly and quality work. Thanks guys!

Absolutely thrilled to have a bike shop of this caliber in Salt Lake City. The entire staff is amazing. I have never encountered an employee that wasn't really friendly and helpful. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cyclist this shop will treat you right!

Maddox was a great help both times I was there. We got down to business, and he was super friendly while we got my order processed. My bike was always fixed on time and never over-budget, and an excellent job was always done. Exceptional bike shop.

Awesome shop! Lots of super cool bikes to peek at! They even have some cool vintage bikes in the rafters so be sure to look up! The absolute coolest was the Draisine! The people were super friendly too! Definitely a sweet shop!

Wonderful place... Kinda like a candy shop for me. Love the professionalism and how fast they help you out in sales and service, you walk in and immediately you're greeted with a wave or more. Thanks Ryan and all your staff!

Really friendly staff, very attentive to customers. Had my bike fit done with peter and several maintenance services done here on my tri bike and it has always been fast service and they do a great job.

  • Jennie Twitchell

Great bikes, great service. They were really good about my bike when it had an issue and verified it was a warranty issue. They let me have my bike to ride until the part comes in which is nice.

Contender is like a fine dining experience but for bicycles. When only the best will do this is the place to go. Thanks to Tyler, Cody, Ryan, Peter and the team. J. Graf

This is an all around fantastic shop for my basic minimal parts and random “do you know if” questions. If and when I buy a new bike, it will be at this shop.

Not enough customers for how absurd the deals are. Fantastic staff, facilities, services and know how
