I had high expectations for this place after reading reviews and positive referrals from friends. I needed a new bike - fast. A friend and I have been riding tons a miles (just did the Huntsman 140 a few days ago) because we are in training for Lotoja. It turns out that the frame of my old bike was too small, and was causing some stress on my knees and back. I went in to be sized for a new bike, and honestly was planning on buying a new bike from them. Maybe I just hit them on a bad day, but the guy working there was miserably unhelpful. He wouldn't take measurements to fit me properly, and basically just said to just "try out some bikes and see what feels good". I had the strong sense that he assumed that I just wasn't a serious biker (is it because I am female??) and treated me with disregard. The first bike he pulled down was a heavy titanium bike, and when I realized it I told him that no- I needed a carbon bike, and he looked at me in disgust and said with snark "I asked you what you wanted". Did he? I didn't hear it. So he begrudgingly put that bike back, and pulled out a low end carbon bike. Didn't even take the time to adjust the seat properly before sending me out for a trial ride (it was way too high). I finally decided I had had enough, and left. Bought a beautiful bike later that same day from '2nd Tracks Sports" - the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and I got an originally $9000 bike for $2500 (highest end components, frame, completely loaded). Maybe if you are a guy you'll have a better experience with them.

Jeff, This is your dad's friend and neighbor, Gordon Jacobsen. I bought a Trek Allant 8S from your Sugarhouse store a couple of weeks ago. I had a rattling problem from the rear fender due to the bolt being forced in and subsequently breaking off, so I rode the bike up to the store yesterday. Half way there one of the pedals fell off. Looking at it closely, it too seemed to be bent and inserted at an awkward angle. With no one home and no ride available , i walked the bike the last 3 1/2 miles to the store in the noonday sun. I was not in a great mood upon arrival. One of the floor guys met me and had a good look at the problems, took my bike in the back and installed new and better quality arms. He then had the broken screw drilled out and the fender attachment fixed. He kept me informed very closely the whole time I was there, offered me a cold drink since I was obviously in distress and just did an all around superb job of keeping me happy while getting my bike fixed to be better than new. I didn't get his name while there so I called the store just now and was informed that it was Troy Maynard. I wanted you to know that this is the kind of guy and the kind of service that does not go unnoticed in my little world. He's a good one; take good care of this guy! I'm sure something will bring me back in from time to time but in the meantime, give him a big thank you from me. I had a hot ride home but he made it way better than it could have been. Keep up the good work!! Gordon

The guys here are really nice. They get your bike in quick. On the negative side of things, they do try to up sell pretty hard. I got asked if I wanted to replace my chain at least seven times, each person telling me it was worn out more than the last, after I had already told them I replace my chains on my own. Also, after all the up selling I specifically said not to do anything to my bike except the basic tune up. When I went to pick the bike up I found that they had also replaced my brake pads without my permission and charged me another $15 on top of the basic service. This would have been super helpful except I also replace my own brake pads in ten minutes and they cost half the price. Overall these guys are good but watch out for the up selling. Update: I went out and bought a tool to check the wear on my chain after the first guy at the shop told me it was 45% worn and the seventh guy at the shop told me it was 80% worn. I figured either they didn't know how to check chains or someone was lying to me to get me to buy a new chain. Turns out the first guy was right and the last guy was lying. Im not going to be going back to the shop if I can't even get a straight answer about how worn out my chain is.

I guess someone will hear about my experience... just got back from Guthrie upset. I went there to get a couple of tubes for my bikes. A worker showed me to the tubes and left. I was literally ready to check out within 10 seconds. Another worker was talking to other customers who were interested in purchasing a mtb. So she was busy. I put my tubes on the counter and looked at stuff nearby so they could still get the hint that I was waiting to be checked out. I patiently waited for about 5 minutes until the worker finally came back out from a conversation he had with fellow workers sort of in the back but still viewable by me. But instead of helping me (who had been waiting patiently for a while), he ended up helping an older gentlemen with his cleats because he had just walked through the door and made eye contact with him. I will not put up with getting treated second class just because my purchase is minimal. They need to step up their customer service game. I have my own business and even when a lot busier and just me working, I would never ignore a customer like this. No need to mention that I was upset and left without purchasing anything.

I have been to this store 3 times now and I have always been impressed with the service every time. My wife and I went in looking for a bike for her. They asked her a lot of questions, took the time to fit her properly, showed her the bikes that fit her wants, reassured her of her purchase and really walked her through what to expect with a new bike. She bought a trek alr 4. They made it so great that I even wanted a new bike. They didn’t have her bike or the next step up in my size in stock (bikes are hard to come by). Overall, we were extremely happy with our decision to buy from them and we will be back. Side note: after shopping there I took my limited knowledge and searched for the alr 4 or 5 and the diverge elite e5. After 2 days of looking, I found a diverge and tried it at a different store. It seemed good so I bought it. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to buy a bike since they’ve been hard to find. The buying experience was so different and not in a good way. No fitting, no explanations Of much, no talking about step up stories or actual benefits. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to give Guthrie the business.

Visited this local bike shop today for education of what the right bike for my needs would be. Though I didn’t get the name of any of the 3 members who helped me, my memory- not their fault, they were extremely helpful and courteous. They had an ENRAGED customer who was shouting and swearing at the top of his lungs speaking on how ill their management skills are and how terrible he’s been treated all because his strollers tire popped several times in the last 2-3 weeks (probably took his kid off roading in it hahah!). Management deescalated the situation but the only resolution was to give this angry little man a refund AFTER he had his stroller repaired. They approved and followed through with the refund when they could have denied business and kicked him out. That’s 10/10 management in my eyes. After the angry customer left, I spent another 10-15 minutes discussing bikes and their specs. Thanks y’all! You’re amazing and I appreciate how kind you all were when things could’ve got ugly. Helpful: 10/10 Respectful: 10/10 Knowledgeable: 10/10 Inventory selection: 7/10 (not their fault, Covid has EVERYTHING ON BACK ORDER)

My bike was stolen a little over a year ago. I'm 22 years old and luckily, insurance covered the bike. In order to get my insurance to value my stolen bike without an original receipt of purchase, I had to ask a bike shop to add up replacement costs on the bike and parts. I went to several bike shops in the valley and no one would do this for me and then I tried Guthrie's. They were happy to help and were empathetic to my situation. After adding up replacement costs I had 9k to spend on a new bike so I went shopping. I had 9k in my pocket, yet no one would give me the time of day at the other shops (if they only knew!!!!). Preston, at Guthrie's was obliged to help me out. He went above and beyond my expectations for service. Since my bike was a custom order, he had to spend a lot of time working with various companies to compile the parts. He kept me informed via phone calls or emails every step of the way. I cannot express how awesome this shop's customer service is. I would recommend them over any bike shop in the valley any day. Check em out!!!!

I always like shopping local for bike stuff. I think it's important to support local businesses but when it came to buying a budget bike Guthrie might not have what you're looking for. Both me and my buddy had similar experiences shopping around for bikes. I went in and just started asking questions to try and educate myself and they were quite helpful but when it came to getting a bike on a lower budget like in the ballpark of $2000 it almost felt as though they were taking an elitist kind of vibe saying you can't get a decent bike for that kind of money. I walked out feeling a bit disgruntled but that's not to say I haven't returned to buy other things. I just went to other sources that carried comparable bikes of similar build quality and kit that were $1000+ cheaper. And it's not their fault for carrying the brands they do with the prices that the brands set. They were just doing their job trying to sell bikes and give good service. It's just that one time that I had that little feeling that bumps them down from getting 5 stars.

Make sure you ask for Ryan in service! I had him do a tune on my bike this spring and he did a great job. It was super clean and dialed in and stayed that way all summer. This week, however, I took it in for a "pro tune" ($99), and was underwhelmed. In particular, they didn't clean pivot points at all (which I have since been told wasn't included), nor did they clean much of the rest of the bike, including cranks, tires and, pedals. To be sure, I had actually lightly cleaned the bike myself before I took it to them, so it is not like they were given a filthy bike to tune. I took it back in and was told that the pivots weren't included. The guy that helped me seemed pretty unconcerned with making sure that I was happy. He did offer to do some more cleaning, but not the pivot points, and at that point, I was irritated and told him I'd clean it myself. I will give these guys one more chance the next time I need a tune, but I will be making sure that I check it in with Ryan (who came highly referred to me by another mechanic).

We moved to the Sugar House area a couple of years ago and one of my first goals was to find a neighborhood bike shop that we could get to know really well and feel comfortable with. There were lots of choices but we quickly settled on Guthrie for lots of reasons but primarily because Jeff and Preston and the rest of the crew are friendly and helpful and always willing to take care of whatever want, need or problem you may have. They have a great line of products (Trek, Santa Cruz/Juliana) and their turnaround time on repairs is reasonable and as promised. They also don't blink when you have a request for a special order part and can usually get it within the week. They also love to support local causes and bike related issues and get onboard without hesitation to support the community. I've learned that local bike shops do more than sell bikes. If you enjoy having a relationship with great people in your neighborhood and supporting them, then this is your kind of shop.

If I could give these guys six stars I would. I've bought several bikes here, but what makes this place special has to be the tech Paul. Twice now, I've come in during the dead of summer having some weird issue and despite how busy they are, Paul has taken a moment out of his busy schedule and give me outstanding advice. Last night, my new AXS dropper post just quit working normally. Paul took at look at it, gave me suggestions and options, including a warranty replacement, but also suggested that a service kit would probably fix it as he's seen Inner Seal Heads come assembled backwards from SRAM. Having serviced several droppers in the past, I was willing to give it a go. Paul gave me some tips and tricks and sent me on my way. Low and behold, the service kit completely fixed the dropper, saving my precious summer riding. Highest possible praise as this kind of thing underpins why LBS' is so critical.

Really happy with my experience buying a Santa Cruz Chameleon with Guthrie Bicycle. First called the store to check whether it in stock, and while it wasn’t in my size in the Sugarhouse store it was in Bountiful, and they offered to move it down to Sugarhouse the next day and get it set up for me there to save me a trip to Bountiful. They talked to me about the bike for a few minutes as well to make sure it was the right size and spec for me. In Sugarhouse they set the bike up for me including adjusting the seat post height, installing pedals, and adjusting the fork pressure so it was ready to ride immediately. They made sure I knew how to register the frame with Santa Cruz for the lifetime warranty and answered any questions I had. Ultimately was really happy with Guthrie and they’ll be my first pick in Utah for parts and maintenance in the future.

I took two older hybrid bikes in for a tune up. Since the bikes have been sitting for six or so years I knew it would take a bit of work to get them working well again. When I took the bikes in I explained the shifters were stuck, cables needed lube, two flat tires and who knows what else. I asked the young gentleman if they were worth putting money into and I was impressed with his reply (especially since I opened the door for him to sell new bikes) he told me a basic tune up should take care of everything and the worst case scenario would be new shifters at 50 bucks a set. I had them do the tune up. They were completed on time and they were able to just clean and lube the shifters rather than replace. I'm very happy with the service and friendly people. But most impressed with their honesty. I highly recommend Guthrie Bicycle.

I decided to give these cats a try. Got a Tallboy with Full XTR at an amazing price through Jay. I asked Jay if he would package the bike up so I could ship it to Texas (moving there). He packaged the bike up and threw in a bunch of free stuff like new "high priced maxxis tires". I never actually saw the bike before purchasing it and it was packaged up before I could look it over.. Once I received the bike in Texas, the fork had a very tiny scratch on the fork stanchion. When I informed Jay of the scratch, he exchanged the fork without questions and a smile on his face. He could have easily blamed it on shipping, but didn't. Freaking great guy!!!! Great bike shop!!! These guy's bent over backwards for a customer they knew was moving out of state.. Wow!!! Keep the small guys going and buy from Guthrie's!!!

I have gone to this shop several times over the years for little things I didn't have the tools for or knowledge. Riding a recent build I needing some tuning up. Nothing crazy and looking for some expert eyes. I was confronted with a woman who couldn't get my name right, tried up sell me and then tried to provide some rudimentary knowledge. There was no personal feel and just felt like I was being rushed out the door, and thrown a price. I will NOT be going back here. I will I be driving a little more to go to a different bike shop, with a more positive environment and not just another repair ticket. I was trying to support local bike shops, guess I need to go to another. Go here if you would like to pay for repairs that are not needed and someone not to listen to what you have to say.

Called ahead to confirm mechanic possessed grease tool specific to Chris King bottom bracket. Bottom bracket spec indicates re-lube every 6-12 months. Upon arrival was told shop did not actually possess tool and that people bought Chris King so that they never had to re-lube. Shop said they would be willing to disassemble the bearings and place grease using fingers and that this would actually be preferable as it would do a better job of removing old grease than factory tool. Was quoted $30 for labor. The factory tool only costs $60 and makes for a 5 minute task. Wild Rose did this for me annually for maybe $5. Obviously these jokers know nothing and will say anything untrue to get you in the store and overcharge you.

We went into a bike shop in Taylorsville and they looked at us like we were peasants, felt very unwelcome, so we left. Came here on my way back from the vet a week later. Troy is super passionate, very informative, and most importantly didn’t make me feel inferior for not being an expert. Got everything I needed super fast. Will be coming back in the future for sure. Edit 6/26: came back for more gear to fix up these rides. Would like to add that Annabelle was also super helpful and a stellar salesperson. Came out to my car- twice- to take a look at both my bike and gf’s bike to help us out. Got the gear we needed and she placed an order for us to get the stuff they didn’t have. Once again, we will be back!

I just finished my first ride on my new Trek Silque bicycle, purchased at Guthrie Bicycle. I can't say enough good things about the staff, their knowledge of all things bicycle and how well they deal with customers. They fitted my bike perfectly to me, equiped it with everything I needed to ride safely and comfortable. They even showed me, hands on, how to fix a flat tire. So a big shout out to Jeff, the owner and Nick and Max who made buying my bicycle a fun experience. They gave me a great deal on the bike and all the excessories. The selection of bikes is awesome. I will be returning to this shop for all my cycling needs. Thank you Guthrie for a great experience. I HIGHLY recommend Guthrie Bicycle!!!

  • Sean Wharton

I’ve been coming to the Sugarhouse location since we moved to SLC almost 2 years ago and have usually had great service. I recently had some wheel work done and then had lingering issues, returned to the shop then had different issues. I was quite a bit frustrated, but got a call from Preston to come back in so they could resolve the continuous problems. Both Preston and Troy went WAY beyond what I expected for resolution and got my bike in better condition than I had initially intended with better parts. I will continue to shop and get service here (and only here now) because I now feel that if something isn’t right, they care and will make it right. Always the best, thanks guys!

  • Paul Schatzman

I went into Guthrie Bicycle one week ago to service a bike. I was assisted by Paul. I wanted to make some additions to a bicycle and Paul not only showed me what I could do but recommended I purchase a new Trek FX2. The new bike was fitted to me and I learned quickly the bike I wanted to add accessories to was actually too small. In the last week I have put more than 40 miles on this new bike. On 9/18/17, I picked up a thorn and returned to Guthrie Bicycle. The staff and Paul assisted me again. My bike was fixed within one hour and now I can go back to the road. I have been really impressed with their high level of customer service, craftsmanship, and professionalism.

  • Christian Leake

Christy and Preston did an amazing job! I was completely blown away by the quick response and super fast packaging and shipping. I had been looking for a new Remedy for almost a year but everything had been sold out in Arizona and beyond due to COVID supply issue and high demand. From the moment I called I knew I had found the right spot. Christy was super friendly and knowledgeable about stock levels in both Bountiful and Sugerhouse. Within 10 minutes I had a payment link sent to my email. Once paid, Preston had my bike packed and ready to go within a few hours. Again, I can’t thank you and your team enough! Completely blown away!!! Thank you! thanks you! thank you!

I had a bicycle that needed reassembled and they were awesome helping me get everything taken care of. I had taken the whole thing apart to get cleaned and painted, but then ran out of time to put it back together before Christmas (the bike was to be a gift). Guthrie got me in with very short notice for a next-day appointment. They squeezed me in the day before Christmas Eve and were very clear on their modified hours of operation so I didn't come too late to pick up the bike. They were very nice and answered all of my questions throughout the entire process. I am so thankful for their speedy and inexpensive help! They have earned a customer for life!

  • Jason Nacey

Not impressed. I took my bike in because I had a problem with my rear shock. They told me 2 weeks and $150. 3 weeks later I went to pick it up and not only was it a week later than they told me but they charged me $175. I told them I had the slip that he wrote down $150 they told me since I had to wait so long they would give me 10% off. I'm not the best at math but I told them it still wasn't as low as the price I was quoted. Their response was "at least it's like a new shock". I will never go back. To be fair they did say I could pick up a demo but I'm not a fan of ridding other bike, I would hate to fall in love with it.

  • Lauren Brewer

I have been regularly using this shop for over a year now. And I couldn't be more thrilled and satisfied with my service. Every single time I visit the employees are prompt(unless it's super busy, but that's to be expected), friendly and knowledgeable! Shop local! And support good businesses! My old favorite shop closed down, and a lot of bike shops are being knocked out! It is up to us to support the skilled people that help keep our metal horses running! They have bike sales, clothing, all the bits and pieces, as well as a great maintenance center for tune ups. Good people; great bike shop!

  • Scott Nelson

I'm new to mountain biking and just signed up for a race that is a few months out. I've been attending spin classes and have a new mountain bike and helmet, that's it. I stopped by Guthrie Bicycle to inquire about what else I might need. The staff there was super friendly and knowledgeable. I received some education on racing and left the store with critical items like padded shorts, gloves, tubes, a tire pump, tools, water bottles and holder, and etc.I can't imagine what my 60-mile race would have been like without the help of Guthrie Bicycle. Thank you so much, you guys are awesome!

  • Matt Barrus

Great bike shop. I brought in a bike I picked up used from a private party and they helped me as much as if I was buying a $6k brand new bike from them. They looked over everything and fixed a couple issues and I feel like they undercharged me! I was full of all sorts of questions for their repair tech who I'm sure was extremely busy, but he gave me a great education. If you're looking for a new bike they have great brands and the entire staff knows everything about everything. If you just need a simple repair they'll treat you well and get the job done extremely quickly and cheaply!

  • Wayne Tucker

I travelled from Southern California to Guthrie’s because they had the bikes I was looking for. The bonus was the friendly and helpful service I received once I got there. Sometimes you know what bike or equipment you want and you just go buy it. You don’t expect the store team to be just as excited and enthusiastic as you are for that shiny new bike or part. As far as I could tell, I had contact with each team member at the store that day. From installation tips to product recommendations what I felt appeared to be genuine desire to share the love of cycling.

  • Santos Garcia

Guthrie came in clutch. Granted, it's the cold season (November 2022) and I can imagine service needs are much fewer, but competitors were still a week out from drop off to completion. Guthrie said 'bring it in and we'll have it done tomorrow' and damnit they did! Wonderful service. Fast service. Really competitive price too. And after solid commute riding for the past 6 months, the bike came out the shop like new. I really am so appreciative, they got me in and out and straight back to riding. I reckon I've found my 'place' for my bike needs. Well done guys.

  • jesse kihn

Hands down great customer service. id been searching for a certain bike for a few months for my wife. I was unable to find it locally or within driving distance. found a couple but the shop would not work with me on getting the bike to me. I called Guthrie's and talked to Kristie and told her what was going on and she made things happen. I bought the bike over the phone and had it on my door step within 7 days with her help and knowledge. Everyone there was super nice and just great people. thank you for helping me get my wife's new bike. She loves it.

  • David Millard

I showed up just before closing to drop off a road bike for service, i was enthusiastically greeted and assisted in finding just the right replacement tires for a scheduled getaway later the same week. The bike was serviced and complete the very next day. Because i live in Tooele, about 45 minutes away with good traffic, i arranged to have my brother pick up the bike for me once again at closing time. the guys waited after closing time to accommodate my late arriving brother. Top shelf service and quality products make for real value. worth the drive.

  • Howard Wilkin

I can't say enough good about my bike purchase. I was unsure of what I wanted and they were VERY patient in explaining options, time and again! I demo'd a couple of bikes and Jeff (my salesman) was great about asking me questions about the bike and how it handled. What I think I liked most was no pressure at all. I love the bike I bought and they sold me a LESS expensive bike than what I was looking at. How often does that happen?? I can't say enough good about my experience there. I'd refer anyone to those guys.

  • Clayton Walker

I had a training ride scheduled for tonight, but found that my bike needed a bearing repack, and Alex was able to get me fixed up within an hour. Simply impressive service and staff. Guthrie is awesome. Update: Went into the shop to have my tires swapped, and they did a tubeless mount in 15 minutes, front and back, while I waited. Bought a Tallboy from them last week, great deal, quick service getting some parts swapped and a dropper installed. This is simply the best bike shop in the greater SLC area.

  • Chris B

Great experience visiting Guthrie. We were helped immediately. They listened to our needs and were very supportive. They discussed the technology and why each bike was different and what would help with my wife's needs in a new bike. They let my wife test ride several bikes on the spot and the service was just great. Another note, they were very receptive and supportive of our daughter (2) being with us. They didn't mind her playing around and were nice to visit with. Thanks!

  • Jeff Bingham

As far as LBS go, Guthrie is my go-to shop. I have always liked both of their shops for the brands they carry and the inventory and gear that they have, they also always have good and friendly staff. They always go out of their way to assist me with my needs. If you need something bizarre or that they may not carry they will work with their distribution channels to try and get it for you if they can. They will work for your business and to keep you as a returning customer.

  • Brandon Dubovik

I've bought 3 bikes recently from 3 different bike shops. Though my local shop in Ogden is my all time favorite, Guthries was a breath of fresh air. I was leaving on a trip and they had a sale that weekend. They extended the sale to me a couple days early and I was sold. He stopped what he was doing and put the bike together and we got on our way. I've only shopped here once, but if I ever need anything and they're close, I would definitely go to them.

  • Dan Greenberg

I've used Guthrie bikes only a few times over the last few years, and encounters like I had today made me realize why I don't go there more often. Eveytime I go has been a great experience, whether it be to grab a tube, ask a random maintenence question, or have an crank arm tightened up (today's encounter). They're always quick, polite, and professional. Special thanks to Cody! I'll see you guys again in the future for all of our mountain bike needs.

  • Shawn Gregg

I have to say I was very disappointed in this shop. I was traveling from CO to OR on mtn biking road trip and broke a brake lever. I called ahead, explained situation. They had they part, quoted me price and labor. Upon arrival after couple hr detour to shop they changed there mind and declined to install lever. I'm confident that there are many other great bike shops in Salt Lake City that will carry a lot more about there customers.

  • Melissa Kelsey

Friendly, helpful, calm, and quick service when purchasing a bike for my daughter to use for her mountain bike team. The Bountiful location helped me order a great bike and had it shipped to the Sugarhouse location. That made it very convenient for us, since we live closer to that shop. They built the bike the same day they received it and we picked it up that evening! Thanks for supporting NICA kids and making the process painless.

  • Jeannine Hale

They were amazing and went the extra mile helping me get the right cleats for the shoes I purchased there to go along with the pedals of the used bike I had just purchased. The cleats I was given with the bike had a missing plate which they had but was a new gen so didn’t match up with the older cleats I had. Luckily they had the newer cleats in stock which is amazing these days and they installed them at no charge. Thank you!

  • Kyle Pugliese

Super helpful, I've been to a few bike stores in the area recently and you either get people who don't really give you much more than a "hello" or you get people who really want to talk you through what is the right bike, the mechanics of it, etc. This was definitely the latter, super helpful in explaining what bikes I should look into, did a test ride, and also explained some of the current market pricing conditions.

  • charlie ramser

I love this bike shop. I have spent many hours in here talking with the staff, learning from them, distracting them from paying customers, and geeking out with them. They are super patient and want to help me with whatever I have in mind. They are not pushy or trying to sell you anything in particular. They have helped me special order many parts and have been vital in getting all my bikes up and running. Thanks!

  • William D. Draney

I wish there were 10 stars! Over the last 8 years, I have had several bike repairs and have purchased accessories here. The staff treats me like family. They are highly trained, friendly (they smile with their eyes) and they are passionate about customer service. Their integrity is beyond reproach. They are fast, professional and they listen. The atmosphere is very friendly and inviting. Keep up the good work!

  • Nicole Hedden

They were very helpful when we purchased bikes! They have a lot of different options, and they have a lot of bikes on hand to purchase. There are different price ranges, we purchased a bike for $500 and one for $2700 because we had different needs. You can easily try out the bikes in the parking lot, and the staff is very helpful. They were able to have our bikes built fairly quickly, which was very helpful!

  • John Byers

There are many good bike shops around Salt Lake, and Guthrie is my favorite. The employees have always treated me well. I bought a mountain bike there and found a problem a year after I bought it, and they were nice enough to fix it for me over a year later. Their service department does a good job. They've even opened up 10 minutes after closing so I could come buy some tubes. I highly recommend Guthrie.

This place is amazing! First bike shop I used in Salt Lake and will happily be the only one. The employees here are all friendly and know bikes inside and out. I have a Canyon so they know I didn’t purchase my bike at their shop.. but that hasn’t stoped them from fixing problems that I have had on the spot, multiple times now! I can’t say enough good things about this place. Thanks for the awesome work!

  • Katie Teubner

Brought my road bike in for some work. It was completed by a very nice, but maybe a little green, mechanic. I brought the bike back in to resolve, and they were wonderful - took care of me on the spot. Everyone makes mistakes - it's how you address them that matters. Will definitely be back once race season rolls around and I'm needing parts and service every couple weeks on several bikes. Thanks, guys!

  • H W

Troy has helped me out on multiple occasions and his friendliness and expertise have kept me coming back. I’ve visited a few bike shops around town and my experience at Guthrie has been vastly greater. Also, the service turnaround times at Guthrie are weeks less than other bike shops. I think Troy is a major difference maker at the shop, but there are quite a few other ways it stands above competitors.

Thanks! I broke the clasp on my Bontrager RXL road shoes (8 yrs. old, but I love them and they're still in great shape). During online chat, Trek said they did not have any. Went to another LBS who also sold Trek but they did not have any. Guthrie to the rescue! They had one sitting around and it worked. NO CHARGE! MUCH appreciated. Thanks guys! Keep tossing those spare items into boxes for later!

  • Blake Robinson

Quality is just not there. Almost every time I take my bike in to Guthrie's to have the shifting adjusted, rims taped, or even brakes worked on, I always have to take it back to have them finish the job. If you have lots of spare time, don't mind having to take your bike back 2 or 3 times, or maybe just don't ride that much - Guthrie's is your spot. Sad to say I just cannot rely on them anymore.

  • Jessica Blat

My first experience with Guthrie was very positive! The staff was so helpful in guiding me toward selecting a bike that was not only within my budget, but also a good fit for my current skills, and one I won't outgrow quickly. Their selection is terrific too. Guthrie is now my go to bike shop after having a horrible experience at another bike shop, Cranky's. Try Guthrie, they are really great!

  • Matthew Pizza

In the digital age that we live in, with everyone buying all their gear online, good customer service is hard to find. Brick and mortar stores are sadly becoming a thing of the past. But is important to support local businesses and economy and keep your $ in your community. The staff at Guthrie are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Go check them out and they'll get you taken care of.

  • Cody Eldridge

Awesome local bike shop established in 1888! The guys there are super knowledgeable and helpful with over 100 plus years experience working on and selling bikes. Some of the best brands in the industry with the experience to back it up. If you're looking for an awesome, full service bike shop, with a local touch deeply routed in Salt Lake's history look no further than this absolute gem!

  • Jason Myrup

They were extremely helpful at both locations here locally to me (the Sugarhouse Location in UT and the Bountiful Location in UT).We purchased two bikes and helmets for my children. They helped us find what we needed, were friendly, and on one hard to find bike they put a hold on it for me so we could come try it out and see if it fit before we purchased. Great experience. Thank you!

  • Tennyson Pay

Highly recommend this place. Great selection on bikes for all wants and needs. I came in with a budget and got exactly what i wanted, they were really nice and helpful in helping me make a decision and making recommendations without being pushy. I had been shopping around on KSL for the perfect setup for a while and the prices here were better which i found surprising.

  • Darcy Ernat

I was in need of some parts for my derailleur. One of the mechanics gave me a used one that he had for the parts I needed and then sold me a new pulley set. I appreciate that he was genuinely trying to help me out and not oversell me... he easily saved me $80/$90, which is a big deal for me. The gentleman that helped me out was super and totally made my day! Thank you!

  • Micah Jensen

I had a shop swap my cassette off a stock wheel and onto a new one. After a while I wanted to switch it back, I took it to Guthries and they said it didn't fit... I explained the cassette came off of the wheel and so it could go back on. The employee went and asked the manager and he said it wasn't possible. So, I took it to Bike Center and they did it in 15 min.

  • Thomas Andra

Fast service and friendly staff. Almost always done same or next business day. I bought a bike for my daughter the other day and that night we ran over a bunch of goat heads and got flat tires. They set my tires up tubeless and replaced the tube in her bike at no cost to me within a couple hours. Absolutely will recommend this shop to any and all of my friends.

  • Elisabeth Leeflang

I helped my sister buy a bike here and they were great. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted and they surpassed my expectations - built my dream bike for less than any of the online sites and with better components. The owner listened to me and was genuinely nice and professional. Great selection of Santa Cruz bikes, frames and other options. I love my bike!

  • Ben Record

Excellent service! Bought a bike from them and after a few days it was clear the bike was too small. Went back into the shop and they had a larger size delivered to the store. After swapping my gear for me, they had me on my way without any extra charges. I was definitely expecting a restock charge, but instead they've gained a returning customer for sure.

  • Jacob Delano

I came in today with a missing jockey wheel and end cap for my bike. They gave me a trashed shifter from their customer satisfaction box and the end cap for my handle bars free of charge. I had questions about bleeding my bike which they happily answered and snet me on my way. Every experience I've had at Guthrie has been great. Excellent local bike shop!

  • Leland

Drove many hours to go to this shop because of their great selection. They put the bike on hold for me and then set it up for my weight when I arrived. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Wish I had a shop like this in my home town. Also, shout out to the guy that built my bike up the next day I ordered it. Josh, I think?, you're awesome.

  • Matt Bennett

Very customer focused shop with highly skilled mechanics! I arrived 10 minutes before the store's closing time and Paul was gracious about helping me with a repair. He stayed late to diagnose and fully remedy the issue, while patiently answering all my questions. Very impressed with the friendly and comprehensive service! Bike is running great!

  • Mark Johnston

Friendly and patient staff willing to give you their time even when you’re indecisive about which bike you’re buying. Willing to go the extra mile to find the right size, year, and model. Then, quick to recognize you and help with quality service long after the transaction is complete. This is why you shop your local bike shop.

  • Jordan Cheng

Your associates have always been so good to talk with and go the extra steps to make sure I was happy. Most recently, Paul personally dropped off a bike I had you pack up to Fedex after a miscommunication I had with another associate. Great customer service. Guthrie will always be a top choice in shops when I look for a bike.

  • Darrell Child

We have used Guthrie many times and have had very good services. Recently we had extensive work completed, which was done on time and within the estimate provided. This was in spite of a major power outage, which otherwise would have caused delays. We have been very satisfied with Guthrie, for many years.

  • Katie Barnard

Great and knowledgeable service! They were able to get my bike turned around and fixed in less than two days. Preston was extremely knowledgeable and gave me multiple tips on how to improve my bike fit, even installing a new stem right on the spot. Definitely recommend and this is now my go-to bike shop!

  • June Zhu

So happy with my recent mountain bike tuning. They did a great job and it made a big difference for my rides. I previously took it to a Trek shop and it costed me 30% more for similar tuning. Nice people, reasonable price and they will also recommend the best option, not the most expensive one for you.

  • Margot Wolfer

Devin was an absolute dream to work with. He was so knowledgeable and helpful in picking the right bike, and he didn't pressure me or rush me in any way. He truly went out if his to to make this an incredible experience for me and my husband. He's the best and Guthrie has our loyalty due to him!!

  • Darlene McDonald

Guthrie has a great line of bicycles. Most times the bikes are out of my price range. However, when I'm able to catch a sale, I can get a great bike at a reasonable price. The products are great, but its the staff that keeps me coming back. They're always friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible.

  • Claire Bice

Ty was super helpful! He helped me pick out the perfect bike for what I was looking for. I got a great deal on it too. And then he took a lot of time to adjust the bike to my height and weight and specific preferences. I am so happy with my purchase and the service I received this week!

  • Israel Montes

Excellent service, this is where I have bought all my bikes and will continue to do so. for the service commitment they have in delivering the bicycles to you as soon as possible. Preston and his team are the best I highly recommend also all my friends are so happy with the service to

  • Kurt Huskey

Very friendly and helpful group of people there. Went in for brake pads, let me even throw them in on the spot with their tools to make sure they were the right ones. Mechanic also looked at a wheel wobble on my bike and corrected it at no charge. Will definitely go back there again.

  • Forest Good

Every time I go into Guthrie, I am greeted with good service. There have been a couple times when something was overlooked, but they seem to always make it right. This shop really puts the customer first. Makes sense why they are the oldest shop around. Happy to have them as my LBS!

  • quiet451

Such a great and friendly staff. I took my mountain bike in for repair after the derailleur launched into the back wheel. They worked with me with pricing and Paul came out and spent time telling me about the repairs and what preventative work I could do in the future. A++

  • Kristin Short

Staff are always very friendly and helpful. My partner's bike was stolen and the police contacted Guthrie when it was recovered because of the ID sticker that was on it. Guthrie called us to let us know it was recovered and went out of their way to help get it back to us.

  • Brandon Bollschweiler

The staff always treats us like family. They have superior brands and products and have always been super helpful! The staff is always friendly and are bike experts! I have gone to this shop since I was a kid and will take my kids there when they are a little bigger!

  • Mike Burke

Had a great experience both times I’ve been here. Staff has been very pleasant and helpful. While I was waiting for my bike a lady came in with a mid ride flat and they fixed it on the spot for her and even showed her how to fix a flat herself in the future.

  • Abbie Camino

Great shop! Staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They don’t try to sell you on anything. I think Preston was the name of the employee who helped us. He really helped us out a lot. This should be your first shop when searching for a bike.

  • Jim Lahey

My previous review was a 1 star because Guthrie didn't follow through on a deal we struck on the phone. It took them longer than I expected, but they did come through with the deal and a nice little bonus. Nice job, Preston. It is appreciated.

  • Matthew Peterson

Paul, I cannot thank you enough, the service work you performed was perfect. My bike has never been so perfectly tuned, aaand you went out of your way to make a few, additional needed-adjustments. Thank you thank you thank you!! Great shop!

  • Trevor Evans

Purchase, service, or just to talk bikes this place is AMAZING! Can't say enough good things about these guys. They have bent over backwards several times providing me with superb experiences. Can't wait to blow another paycheck or 3 there.

  • Matthew Weilenmann

These guys are awesome. Friendly and not pushy. They are extremely honest and do not screw you over. I was charged half what they quoted to fix my bike. They give you the high end quote and charge you an honest price. Great bike shop.

  • Richard Rosenquist

Went in to get a bike and these folks have absolute top notch service skills. They went above and beyond to help. Product knowledge was excellent and they respected budget. I would recommend Guthrie to anyone looking for a new bike.

  • Tommy Lopresto

the quality of the their customer service it the best I've experienced...didn't buy my bike from them but they services it like I did and the quality is outstanding. They know what they're doing and they stand behind their work.

  • Andrew Hynes

I used them to help ship a bike back to Virginia. The staff was fantastic despite some ups issues and their packing job was first rate. Regardless of how hard ups tried, they couldn't touch the bike when packed by Guthrie.

  • Sione Tongaonevai

My experience with Guthrie was wonderful. I would and recommend this Bike Shop to everyone that needs there bike taking care of. My tech took really good care of my bike. Thank you once again for your excellent service...

  • Clay Osborne

Preston and Devin were awesome! We bought a demo Tallboy for our son and both of them were super patient and helpful getting it setup just right for him. We have a new favorite bike shop and will definitely be back soon.

  • Cathy Pollock

Preston and the rest of the staff at Guthrie’s is exceptional! As is there shop work. They are passionate about cycling and it shows! They enjoy sharing it with the public. I always feel welcomed and appreciated there!

  • Jeffrey Chipman

Great shop! I came in with the hope they would remove my tubeless tires because they got flat and they educated me about other options and helped me save money and time! Very nice guys, I definitely recommend them!

  • Troy Lawson

Amazing place to shop, the staff knows their stuff and they are very helpful and personable. Just started biking again for leisure and I'm so glad they were recommended to me. I'll be a repeat customer for a while.

  • Susan Hagen

These mechanics are the BEST! after an overhaul my bike is better than new. Clean hub, bearings, new chain, it's so quiet I can sneak up on everyone. Bike is all tightened hip and responsive. Thanks guys!!!

  • timothy thompson

I needed a specific brand of brake pads for my EV bike. It arrived in a timely and prompt manner . In that aspect i was pleased. As far as customer and instore communication , that needs some improvement.
