I find this a convenient library to visit, however, I find the staff there are extremely unprofessional. Libraries are supposed to be quiet places. Not so this one. Readers are quiet but you find staff constantly socializing, chatting, telling each other their life stories, weekend plans, etc. and all within hearing distance of people who are either trying to read or working on the computers. There have been several times I've actually "looked" at them but they've ignored me and just kept on their merry way. They have now opened up "self-serve" check outs. When they were first introduced, I asked one of the staff to check out a number of books for me. She directed me to the machine and very condescendingly, "guided" me through it. I did mention that I'd have preferred that she do it for me. Turns out I had checked out 2 Lightning loan books and the printout showed 1 to be returned within 1 week and the other 3 weeks (for which I'd have been charged fines). If this is what's going to happen with self check out, I can imagine the problems people are going to have. I do check out a number of books and as I finish them I drop them off in the drop box of this branch. A recent problem I had was when I received 2 emails informing me that a certain book was long overdue. I was certain I had returned it and finally called up Central Library. After being put on hold, it was finally concluded that I had indeed returned the book. Again, I revert back to the question I started out with - what are the staff so busy doing? I personally find they are overstaffed.
First-time experience yesterday, as I was looking to print-off a document (I was a non-resident visiting the area, so I was prepared to purchase or receive a visitor’s card for a nominal fee). After standing for almost five minutes waiting to be acknowledged by a librarian sitting directly in front of me, I then stated my intent for being there, and provided the appropriate government-issued ID. After being informed that I could purchase a Non-Resident card, I inquired about the price, had a pamphlet thrust in front of me, informing me the cost would be $30/year! After sharing my shock and surprise at how incredulous the pricing was, I was then able to secure a guest pass, and printed what I needed. The cherry on the cake was learning that a patron has to turn in their library card to access the lock code to the bathroom...As a neighboring resident in a nearby city, I was deeply disturbed and turned off from the entire experience-definitely a first and last for me :/
The Staff creates disturbances & damage Peace by opening & closing certain doors that they are FULLY aware is destroying the peace & then Argue that they do not have money to have doors that open & close quietly. Hardwood chairs are Causing pain in Neck, Back & Shoulders but they failed to put Ergonomic chairs for library users. In fact library staff lies as often & do not appreciate that people like to use library & need to spend hours learning & working quietly. The So Called quiet study area DO NOT HAVE TABLES to put all your study material to study quietly. Very small table is given in quiet study area where hardly 1 - 2 books fits. Staff deliberately ignore all the above needs But making wages & finish their shifts. For anything & Everything they have excuse of money yet they are getting paid in money. Some library staff walk awkwardly. VERY HARMFUL HARDWOOD CHAIR & Causes PAIN & DISCOMFORT while using them during Reading & Seating on them Working/Learning.
Honestly I'm not impressed by the staff at this library. Constantly talking to each other about irrelevant things. The people in the library are very well mannered and stay quiet, I don't think it's fair that the readers/users of this library have to stand that. Another complaint I have about this library is the poor quality of Wi-Fi. An important part of any public place now is the access to the internet. This was really a problem as I had come to the library to finish an important assignment, but was not able because of the lack of connection. Many other people in the library had the same problem and when we asked the staff they had told us that our devices were the problem and many of us were angry. Therefore I rate this library 1 star, and don't recommend it to others.
The only functional library in the area, as other libraries nearby are closed for renovation. Please increase the number of computers as they are needed to get the print and wait time is too long. Though the lady at the reception was really helpful and courteous. She tried to get an earlier slot for computer for me, but none was available. She referred me to print shop nearby, A-1 Copy and Printing as I needed the print urgently but I would request the library staff not to refer any one there as it is kind of a sketchy business. The price on the parking board says prices as low as 3 cents per print and they charged me $2.5 for single black and white document, which is over 10 times the average rate for a print. The price list was hidden behind the wall somewhere.
English language collection is reasonable. But in absence of Central and Port Credit libraries, I would expect a good size collection of world language books. Unfortunately, that is not what I found. For example, with a large Gujarati community in the city, twenty five books and 4 videos on offer is pathetic. Hope , this message would bring a positive change.
One of the best libraries in whole Mississauga. It's quiet, the staff are friendly and helpful, you can find good books here and if you cannot find them you can order them and they will bring it to you from other libraries (mostly from the main Mississauga library), they have printers, scanner, and photocopiers always available and also reliable internet.
My family loves this library. It’s small but sufficient! I like the layout of the whole library. My husband could sit at the desk and do his studies while it’s not too far to watch over the kids playing and reading in his sight. It’s quiet at times. It’s clean and have lots of puzzles and Montessori toys for children.
Not sure why this library is even functioning...complete waste of tax dollars. Every time I've gone there, which is regularly, the staff are chatting among themselves and quite loudly. We try to keep our children quiet out of respect for others, but yet the staff conside this a place to social ize.
Very good library. Staff is very much helpful and help to find the books we needed. Sometimes I couldn’t renew the the books. But they automatically renew it. Also we r was fast for me to drop, select books and self checkout. My kid got paw patrol stickers from by staff …
I Ratell this library 1 star because the staff at this libray are constantly talking and are not helpful. The people at this library are really quiet and all you can hear is theasy staff talking about irrelevant things and I do not recommend this library for anyone else
Book variety is good and there are enough computers to use for projects. Parking lot is fairly large compared to library size. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Perfect place to return books from any other library in Mississauga for those who live nearby.
I have always found the staff professional and very helpful. When someone couldn't solve my issue with ebooks, they found someone who could. I even had an appointment with one staff to help with my ereader. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff.
the staff is very supportive and friendly. The library is small with obviously not a big collection of books but I dont see it as a problem because we can request books from other locations of the Mississauga library network and from libraries of other cities.
It was very hard to find, found it by coincidence. You wanna stay in Hurontario Street, you will find a general entrance where the elevator will take you second floor, it is room 212. The entrance can also be mistaken for another one.
They told us to be quiet because we were being too loud when literally 2 minutes before that, the lady was practically belting. New person btw. I hate it. I just don't like the unprofessional and hypocritical staff.
Wonderful staff, a good number of browsing workstations. Has a pay and use printer. The library is a bit small, so the in house selection is analyst. But you can have books from any branch sent here for pick up.
Located on 2nd floor in commercial plaza near Hurontario st and Dundas st. Intersection. Small play/ story area for children. Few quiet study space. No dedicated parking for library. Parking at rear of building.
Despite of many complaints about noise, loud conversations and laughter of library staff, the manager ignores the complaints. Not a place for readnig or study. Staff considers this place to socialise.
This library is garbage. The worker is so bored that she has to babysit everyone into following rules that are absolute stupid. My friend was chewing gum and she told him to stop eating in the library
The best day to go is on Sunday because it is not as busy as other days and most of the people return their books this day, so more books on Sunday which means more choice mainly for teens and kids
On a small size. Very few programs for kids. Reading hour is really 30 min. Not even a change table in a washroom, the building locks it so u get a key from staff... weird. Staff is nice though.
I love this library! The staff is very courteous and take time to explain things to you. They also have lots of books for children and a small play area to keep younger kids entertained.
The library is not large even though there is a good collection of books. They said that they can collect books from Mississauga library if we need them.
Nice quite place to go for a short period of time. The branch is really small and not much book to browse from. Nice workers and an overall nice place
Very nice library. A cozy cove in Cooksville. Love the staff, always eager to help out. Timings are a bit short, but well nice place to study quietly.
Friendly staff and clean library with a small children’s section. Library is smaller than other locations but still a good selection of books!
Location is convenient, staff is friendly, and parking is typically available. However, study area is small and not isolated enough.
Peaceful place, located nearby a hustle bustle Plaza area. Helpful librarians add to the overall experience
The library is not large enough. The city of Mississauga needs to build a larger and more modern library.
Spacious, located on the 2nd floor, a nice place to sit and read books, magazines and newspapers
Convenient. Easy to get to. Good supply and variety of books despite its smaller size.
You have to ask for a key to access the washroom. Bad internet. Not recommended.
Cozy, enough books to satisfy even avid readers. Not enough multilingual choices
Not a place for quiet study. Staff considers this place to socialize.
Not gud as burnhamthorpe library is but still a good small library.
Friendly staff and calm environment but limited books collection.
Visited last month. Staff were rude and busy with their chatting.
Nice well maintained place. But have a limited books collection.
The lady with the red hair that works here is SO beautiful
Good resources and study area is also quite good
Staffs are very nice and helpful.
