In a place where people buy cakes from supermarket chains for their convenience, Cottage Bakery showed why custom made cakes are far better in quality, taste, and sentimental value. The staffs working in the bakery are so nice and they want to help you. First of all, I was late in ordering as you need to give them 2 days prior notice for special ordered cakes. But, they understood my situation and actually they agreed to make the cake on 1 day advance notice. That showed the human nature in the establishment. The cake, it was so beautifully made. It was simple and elegant. As I tend to judge a place (bakeries) from simple chocolate cakes, I was quite satisfied the quality they gave me in that cake. The instructions were followed clearly and after it was cut open, the layers were made beautifully. Now the taste, it was so good. As I said supermarket cakes may be half the price but their taste is all so horrible. This cake had the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolate flavor with the natural hint of natural bitterness which you get from better quality chocolate products. The Frosting was light and fluffy and not at all greasy. So, in short, the staffs are friendly, they give you good quality products and the store is really clean. I don't know what you want more from bakeries but if these are the things you look for, please.do visit them. They are amazing.

My friend and I had been looking forward to trying this new restaurant. When we arrived we were told to seat ourselves, which we did. We sat for quite a while before I asked a server for a menu. The drinks took a long time and the food even longer. I had ordered a basic breakfast with sausage eggs and hash browns. It finally arrived with bacon. A long while later 2 wieners showed up. It was terrible. In short , the service was really poor. No apology for the error. When the bill came I asked the server if she was at all curious why I had so much food left on my plate. Again no apology, no offer to deduct the coffee or anything else to make up for the poor service and food. The servers need more training. They shouldn’t be cleaning the table after they serve the food and they should bring out all the food at the same time, not one person at a time. We were very disappointed and will not be returning.

I've had baked goods from here on occasion, my wife likes their goods, but I am rarely with her when her rounds take her into this area, however today we were on Pembina so we popped in to see what they had, and to check out the day-old shelf. They do sandwiches, ice cream, I think I saw a soup menu and, of course, lots of baked goods. We grabbed the half-price cherry pie and raisin bread and then went looking at what else they had. Picked up a plain croissant to check out against the competition and some sourdough as well. The raisin bread toasts up really nicely, and the cherry pie was lovely. A bit smaller than commercial Safeway maybe, but for a retired couple it's a perfect size. Saving the croissant comparison till tomorrow. All in all, a really nice place, prices are a bit high, but for fresh baked goods are pretty reasonable. I'll definitely make time to pop in whenever I'm in the neighbourhood.

As a red seal baker new to this province, I'm on the hunt for a new "FAVE" bakery". I heard a lot of good things about this bakery, so I was excited to try them. I went down on a quiet morning during the week vs. a weekend. Love the storefront, display case, the layout, seating is more than ample, lots of different selections. As a red seal baker I LOVE seeing different variations and iterations of croissants and the ones on display they day I visited looked BEAUTIFUL and I wish I had tried one. On my visit I selected a marked down package of sticky buns (no icing) and a pastry called "Chocolate Sin". I didn't expect much from the marked down buns, but they were still soft, fresh and delicious. I made a little cream cheese icing at home, but even without these buns were a treat! 7/10 Chocolate Sin - lacked in flavour and was a little disappointing. 3/10

We went to the new location on Edison on a Monday morning around 10am and it was busy. It didn’t take too long to get seated. The server was friendly and did warn us that there was a bit of a longer wait for the menu items, but we weren’t in a rush so it was fine. It did take about half an hour for the food but it was tasty. The service could have used some attention (coffee refills, cutlery) but the manager/owner came around and asked about our experience, we passed along our feedback. He was very receptive and kind and I know he appreciated it. We’ll be back next time we are in the area.

Dropped by here for the first time to try their breakfast and some baked goods. Out of many bakeries I've been to in the city, this one is the best. We tried the pistachio crossiant which had great flakey layers (most bakeries don't seem to do them well in this city). I then ordered the chocolate mousse, key lime tart, and tiramisu and none were too rich/overpowering, they all had their flavors perfectly balanced, and the tart shells were cooked well too. The breakfast foods were okay (eggs bene & egg sandwich) but the baked goods definitely outshine them. I am so happy to have stopped in and tried the baked goods. Apparently the place has been open around 90 years as well. I will be recommending this place's baking to my out of town visitors!

One of the best bakeries in town, maybe in the top three! Their desserts are some of the bests I’ve ever had. I’ve tried several items—schmoo, lemon meringue tart, toblerone cake, almond and pecan tart, keylime and chantilly cream, chocolate dome with mousse inside, mango cheesecake and chocolate and banana croissant. My favourites are the toblerone cake, keylime cake, schmoo and lemon meringue tart. The cheesecake I had was just okay and I prefer a creamier, sturdier cheesecake and I remember the cheesecake having cheesecake-mousse consistency (I personally dont like mousse). The croissant fell flat, not buttery and crispy that I hoped for. Overall, I love this place and I will be placing a big order of my favourites for my wedding next year!!!

One of the top bakeries in town. You know it’s good when you step in and it smells like fresh bread and all things good. They’ve got a nice collection of desserts and baked items. I had their brownie which was perfect - not too rich and sweet but just right. Their coffee is great and service was pleasant. Great location with ample parking.

Very friendly & helpful staff and the food was excellent (bacon potato soup & Mediterranean Chicken Sandwich) and dessert was a light and fluffy Schmoo Torte. Had trouble finding a clean table but the server cleaned it for us upon request as she brought our drinks. Other tables still remained dirty. The garbage in front of the bin for returning dirty dishes is in desperate need of cleaning. I would not touch the gooey sticky lid. A bit more cleanliness would make it 5 stars.

Bought a cake for my husband for his first birthday just after our wedding. I did not expect it to be this presentable and nice…but it ended up awesomely delicious and so beautiful. I called them especially to tell them that how glad I am to order it from them. So kind staff…I loved it…❤️for coming years and years they’re gonna be my first priority for any occasion cakes. Thanks so so so much once again. I recommend it all…try once…trust me u won’t regret.

Amazing bakery, just WOW all the deserts are amazing. The macarons were so soft i was genuinely shocked. I brought my family here and they had the best experience ever. Ali showcased hospitality on a another level. Truly a beautiful experience! (The tuna panini, potato bacon soup, and chili were outstanding!) 10/10!!

Awesome bakery! Had the chocolate chip pancakes and picked up a few treats. Very tasty and can tell that it's all homemade. Classic bakery which is my favorite type of bakery compared to boutique style. Service was a tad slow but it was a Saturday at 10:45 so that was expected.

Wonderful bakery and cafe. They have excellent breakfast and lunch options, including a delicious breakfast sandwich. They have a very wide variety of coffee flavours and even serve milkshakes and ice cream. Very popular spot for the high school students across the street.

This is an awesome place. It seems like more and more, the corner bakerys are going out of business. This place is full of good pastry, though, and lots of good people work here too. I like to go in here for fresh croissant. Especially the chocolate ones.

Love the atmosphere and vibe of this beautiful corner of bakery. Their brunch & latte was above and beyond. I think it tasted better because of their bread. I had pesto chicken panini with mocha. Highly recommended :-)

Lovely crew, delicious pastries, good coffee. You should definitely skip breakfast in the hotel next door if you're guest there and get something to eat here. You'll get much better quality food for your money.

Always a pleasure to walk into this cozy bakery. The pastries, cakes and breads are always fresh. You can always taste the flavour described in their pastries. Love to have breakfast and lunch here too.

Good bakery. Delicious chocolate dessert. Croissant was a bit dry and no cream or any kind of filling in it but overall a good experience, decent crowd and good customer service. …

This bakery is one of the best in Winnipeg and has never disappointed us! We get their banana split cake a few times every year and it is always so good if not better!

Great old school bakery with plenty of options!! Not a huge fan of their croissant though, texture was off compared to most French bakeries I’ve been to.
