I bought me from this company with my last of my food stamps on June 9th of this year and I quickly put all the meat which cost me around $80.00. today I defrosted some steaks and it smelled spoiled like a dead animal. I went to speak to the manager she was not there. I spoke to cashier in charge and she gave me attitude while asking for my receipt I told her I don't have it why would I still have my receipt after a month is almost over and with a cold heart she said well we can't help you. Even though they have cameras to prove I was there on the 9th of June between 2pm and 3pm. So if you don't want food poisoning do not buy meat from these people it spoiled in less than a month while frozen from date of purchase.
Today I stoped at this store. It was my first time. I went ahead and ordered 3 tacos. Sadly, I noticed that the lady that was taking the money at the register, was not wearing gloves, which was not a big deal since it was just money. But I got desappointed when I saw her handing the tortillas without gloves. This made feel very unconfortable. Even in normal circunstances it is necesary the use of protection when it comes to handling food. It was disgusting for me, given the situation with the covid19. I decided not to eat there, of course. I hope this message goes to the right people. I think that if they are careless on action that customers can see, how, I wonder how they do on the things we can see.
I stopped at this location to buy two heads of lettuce and tomatoes. 98% of the tomatoes both big and small were wilted, looked moldy, were soft and/or bruised. I had to get a mixture of both big and small decent looking tomatoes to get the amount I needed. I also bought 2 heads of lettuce. When I got home to chop them they were old, brown and I had to throw both of them out. I will NEVER go here for produce again! I thought it would save me a trip on the way home instead of H-E-B or Walmart but since I have to stop and buy more lettuce anyway.. not so. Hopefully I can figure out how to post pics w/ this review. If not, trust me, the produce was terrible.
I worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years at places like Adams Mark hotel, Sous chef with Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood and Kitchen lead at Dave and busters. The food at Culebra is ALAWAYS freshly prepared and is hot. These to points of measure should be a staple when eating out. The freshness of the food and is the hot food hot and the cold food cold. The prices for this place are fantastic compared to every where else where you'll not only pay more but also take a big chance on being dissapointed. Try it, ...... You will like it. Pictured is the Calabacita con pollo. (Squash with Chicken)
I see several negative reviews about this place and think its because of the system that they use. It isn’t a sit down and order place but a order at the counter and pick a table kind of place. I find the food here very good and fresh for the most part. The huevos rancheros are actually really good and I find them better and above average because of their salsa ranchera . The Carne guisada is also really good. The only thing is that they don’t make corn tortillas by hand but that isn’t really a problem for me
All culebra meat markets, close before their posted closing time, I had to drive to three stores Including this one on bandera that's supposed to close at 10 and they locked the door at 9:10 or before, I actually knocked on the door and the cashier was still cashing out people but yelled "it's closed!"... and the one on Babcock supposed to close at 9 and by 8:50 there was nobody and every light off, obviously close before time... too bad, never buying again!
I usually come to this market and the food has so far been good but they really need to train their cashiers on how to treat customers . Especially one of the girls who has glasses and short hair . She never greets with a smile and today the other cashier told me to go with her and the girl with short hairs response was “oh” and made a face and rudely did my transaction. I’m pretty sure she needs a recap on how customer service works.
So much variety of fresh meat for amazing prices! I purchase raw meats for my dog who is on a vet approved raw diet, and I feel good being able to support a local supermarket while still saving money. The butchers and staff are very friendly and helpful - I feel very comfortable asking questions and the counter itself is very clean. They package your meats in plastic, then wrapped in butcher paper so it feels like premium service.
The Tamales on a Good day are incredibly soft and moist and delicious. the barbacoa i didnt like at all. its pricey as well. when you look around youll find almost nothing is cheap in price and the only thing that is cheap is the quality of the food depending on what you buy. as great as the tamales are i would skip a week or two just to wait it out for better quality food to come by here.
THEY SELL CHEESE MADE TO LOSE!! VERY BAD AND THE SELLER KNEW IT WAS ALREADY BAD. IT'S A PITY THAT HE WAS KIND, THE BAD IS THAT THEY DON'T CARE WHAT THEY SELL, THEY JUST SELL BUT THEY DON'T CHECK THEIR MERCHANDISE AND THE VERY RUDE BOX JUST SAID THAT I DID NOT PUT IT IN THE REFRIGERATOR AT BEST!!! THE TRUTH WOULD NOT HAVE GONE TO CLAIM IF IT HAD BEEN MY FAULT!!!
The ladies at work there are very rude and have poor customer service skills I feel sorry for Culebra meat market. For example this morning I went looking for some tortillas and other stuff. The girls were very unprofessional we're not any help at all. I recommend they get replaced before reviews keep falling. Do not come here.
I have purchased meats at this place before , however on the Wednesday before Easter I purchased 20 lbs ., of leg quarters and they were spoiled . This really upset me because , I also purchased a huge brisket , from this place . The brisket was fine however it was embarrassing, that the chicken leg quarters were spoiled .
I would give their Mexican Barbacoa a 5, rating ftom 1 to 10. It does not have the texture, the aroma, or the taste of real "Pit Bar ba coa" made from beef head. I've traveled around and found a few places, only in South Texas, to have the real thing. There is an art to cooking pit barbaque. Sorry, just telling it like it is.
I got some chicken wings tonight but once cooked they all smelled like fish. The wings were disgusting and I had to throw them all away. I kept opening them and they all smelled terrible. First time and last time I will ever get any kind of meat at a Culebra Meat Market. The cashier wasn't pleasant either.
Great carniceria with awesome butchers! Though, their employees at the registers definitely need an attitude adjustment! I've noticed, and I only assume this because they are females, that they are only ever polite to males when I pay for my items. There's usually never good customer service up in front.
Not good , drove with a to go order to Bandera Texas , when I got there I had only 3 fajita tacos instead of four. And 4 bean and cheese tacos instead of.4 four fajita tacos and two bacon and egg, and two potatoes and beans. First time I have been so disappointed. Never going back.
It's great having a near by Culebra market but this location seems to close when they want and it's always at or before 10pm. For a new location you would think they would make sure to do things right as advertised. Well let's hope it stays clean and has fresh products.
VERY Disappointed, after I went and gathered the things I needed I went to go pay the cashier was extremely very and I mean very rude!!! I will never shop there again!!! And if ask me about this store I will tell them not to go there!!! …
I believe that this place is only for Spanish speaking customers. I really want to buy some chicken fajitas , but after waiting 5min none of the employees working behind the counter was interested in taking my order . I left . I would never shop in this place again.
I keep going back because it's really near me, but it's the 3rd time they give me smelly meat.i think they mix their old ground beef with their fresh one. Today I opened up the bacon i bought there and the smell made me want to throw up.
This place is alright, prices are higher here idk why, $6 for sparking water that I get at Walmart for $3. I’ve seen expired canned food, and the people two girls that work there seem like they don’t want to be there.
Try this Mexican meat market offering more than meat at the butcher shop at the back. Great place to get your pan dulce, tortillas, tamales and just about anything you would need from “south of the border “.
Went today brought 2 pounds of all meat barbacoa And chicharrones. And some taco rolls sweet bread. With a cold big red. yumO! Now I'm ready to watch the Cowboys!! Bring on the cold BUDWEISER!!
Everything your heart/stomach desires for Hispanic cooking. Fresh meats in meat market, fresh fruits and vegetables. Small restaurant serving great meals at great prices. Always a pleasure to visit there.
Had everything I needed! Place was clean. Cashier was very helpful even offered her recipe to help me make menudo for the first time which came out great by the way! Would recommend this place anytime!
Meet, ok. Produce, ok. Pastries, excellent. Tamales (if they don't run out), yummy. Cheese and most canned goods... from California?!! Beer selection, no craft beers. Snacks, excellent. Random review.
We recently came here for homemade tostadas/chips and we were so impressed with the cleanliness of the store, the beauty and quality of the produce and the variety of salsas! We will come back again.
The food that is cooked in the kitchen is very delicious the atmosphere is very clean if you have a have a chance to come over here try it this is a good place to come eat and it's not too expensive
Went this morning to the store to buy some tortillas very poor customer service....all of the girls working there have bad attitudes. I do not recommend this place. In reality they deserve 0 stars.
They have little girls working up front not sure because its family runned but they did not know there own inventory, neither did the manager that was sitting down while they asked for help.
Meat is always fresh as they have lots of people traffic & they have decent prices on produce plus good Homemade Tortillas, They also have dine in food available. Good prices too.
Love their Fresh Meat Selections great quality At great prices butchers are So Helpful and Friendly always. All around great place to shop at for whatever you need. …
This place taste like Mexico! lot's of authentic products, the only throw back is that some Mexican Kitchen tools are very expensive, the fresh made "Pan" is expensive too.
Meat market has a good variety of select cut meats and decent amount of groceries. The bakery selections are fresh and tasty. The employees are helpful and hard working.
This store has quality meats for purchasing and other Mexican foods that are fresh and delicious. The employees are professional and courteous plus the service is good.
Love this place. Every time I've gotten dessert from them, different times during the day. They have tasted awesome, never stale. They do have products from Mexico.
At this meat market located on 1630 Bandera rd.they sell THE BEST pan de helote ever made; you should go and try that bread you won't be sorry.BEST CORN BREAD EVER.
Nice and clean always stocked with what u can need, must go early if your throwing a BBQ, you dont want them running out of the meats lol specially on weekends ...
Dusty shelves, no help offered and the butcher tried to pull a fast one on me by not giving me what I initially asked for. He made it right after I called him out.

Great place to shop! Very affordable and good place to get fresh ingredients for Latin cooking, but others might find it does not have everything they need
I really love coming to this meat market. It is always. Clean and I find what I need. I definitely like to check their weekly specials to see what I need.
Unsanitary! The butcher did not change his gloves after touching different Meats. Can you say salmonella poison. The meat didn't look very fresh neither.
Stopped to get chorizo while in town. So glad we did, it was so fresh and really good! The largest chicharrones I have every seen, a cool little market!
Extremely clean meat market, with a small bakery and taqueria inside. Large variety of mexican grocery and household items with reasonable prices
Live in the neighborhood its been here for years and is still fresh and clean employees r very nice and neat always..my family members as well
People do not speak music is too loud also no more meat deals when I was there the lady was mopping and no wet signs were up. Poor service
After years of going there to eat, today wasn't the best ever. When anyone orders food you'd expect it to be hot not cold. I'm not happy.
