We've been fostering a rescued golden retriever with a largley unknown history. As part of the forster process, the dogs need to be checked out by a vet and get microchipped. Since Cumberland vet supports the charity, we brought her here. The office is lovely and the staff is friendly, but the dog seems to have a bad history with vets. Despite their best efforts, they couldn't get the dog to settle down enough to even touch her leg with a cotton swab. Not wanting to "ruin her" for future vet visits, they sent us home with some sedatives and booked us an appointment for a few days later. With sedatives on board, we went back to the vet. The sedatives didn't seem to have much of an effect, and the dog freaked out as soon as the doctor touched her with the stethoscope. She's an 11 year old golden retriever, but she snapped and snarled like an angry Doberman. After we put her in a soft muzzle and held her still, the vet tech held her down with a towel over her head while the doctor waited outside the room so she wouldn't see him. After a bit of struggle, they injected her with a different sedative and left us with her to wait for it to kick in. They checked in regularly to see how she was doing. After about 40 minutes it was clear she was still pretty anxious, so another dose had to be administered. Once that kicked in, they were able to do the microchipping and check for what they thought was a heart murmur. To be honest, I never thought they'd be able to get her chipped. They clearly knew what they were doing and kept the dog's needs in mind at every step. I could not be more impressed. Since the rescue organization pays the bills, I don't know if this 2.5 hour ordeal cost more than a typical visit, but I'd happily pay it if she was my dog.

Cumberland veterinary hospital is truly a great vet clinic! Anytime I have called with a question about my puppy the receptionists are always willing to either find out for me or call back promptly with an answer. There have been a few times where my dog required to see a vet on short notice and we were accommodated either the same day or the following day, and after our visit we received a follow up email within a couple days inquiring how our dog is doing and if the medication he was prescribed is working well and if I have any questions! In my opinion this is a caring gesture that they truly care about your pet’s wellbeing. I have had the pleasure to interact with Dr Amanda, Dr Marie, and Dr Ankush and have no complaints of either one. All the staff are great and always pleasant to interact with! Keep up the great work!

I have had only excellent experiences! Despite changes in process and not being able to be with my pup during appointments because of COVID-19 restrictions, I have received excellent communication and support for my pups very needs at each visit and subsequently. My pup was recently neutered and all the nurses and vet who were a part of his surgery experience and follow-up check-ins were very kind and informative. My pup was back to normal within a day of surgery and his stitches almost entirely healed (with no issue) within a week or so. They provided option of laser or scalpel for surgery, and post surgery to prevent licking, cone OR an adorable onesie (pictured on my pup). I am super happy I went with this veterinary hospital :)

Sadie, Dr. Blackburn and the whole team were nothing short of amazing! I had to bring my older, overweight and aggressive feline who was exhibiting urinary issues in on short notice and they were so compassionate and accommodating on the Friday before a long weekend. Dr. Blackburn took the time to explain all my options clearly before making her recommendation and Sadie was very sweet on the phone. A very nice touch drawing an adorable kitty + my cat's name on the prescription take-away bag. Thank you so much for your help, Neko is doing much better :)

The Cumberland Vet clinic has always been fantastic for us. We have had 2 cats, a dog, a guinea pig and three rats who have over the years gotten excellent and (when needed) compassionate care from the techs and vets at this wonderful clinic. They are always very good to answer quick basic questions, they have the vitamins and specialty foods we need to keep our pets in tip top shape. They are very responsive to special requests even last minute appointments. Great group of folks who truly care for our furry family members!

Severely misdiagnosed our dog (who they vetted for 3+yrs) so badly that he passed away within 1.5 weeks as it was a virus he had that got worse because we were told he had joint issues and sent home twice. Our dog was 4 yrs old. For minor things we would recommend them but serious issues we wish we knew the lack of experience they have as we’ll never get another chance and what we went through was traumatic. BTW no remorse from the 2 vets we saw at all or reprimanding occurred.

Just recently (last week) switched over as this is the closest vet to our home, rather than making the longer drive to their regular vet. Joey was well taken care of by a great vet (Dr. McLeod), the reception staff assisted with ordering some specialized food for my diabetic cat, and then today, I got a follow up call from a staffer calling to check on Joey's tail to make sure the antibiotics were working. I am feeling very confident in our decision to switch clinics.

Dr. Blackburn and the entire team at Cumberland veterinary hospital is amazing! We have an almost 2 year old French bulldog who has a lot of different health issues (allergies, GI issues, etc). Dr. Blackburn always takes the time to answer every single one of my questions and makes sure to address all my concerns. She is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I know my dog Louie is in extremely great hands with her. I am very happy to have found her!

I can not say enough good things about this vet hospital. They have saved two of my cats' lives. Always super kind and considerate. Knowledgeable people, understanding of budgets. They clearly not only care, but are passionate about helping their patients. They were able to find a way to accommodate my old kitty's allergies, and fussiness, and still find a way for me to get his illnesses controlled. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

After frantically trying to find a vet to take my very sick senior dog because my regular vet was too full. I stumbled upon this office. They listened to my concerns, sympathized with me and had her in the next morning. They immediately located the source of the problem. The service was amazing. My dog was treated kindly and I left feeling so much better. Moving forward, I will forever be taking my animals here. Thank you!!

I have had nothing but great experiences here. The staff are very caring and helped to ease all of our concerns as first time dog owners. On one occasion, we called on a Saturday and they were willing to see us an hour later. They didn’t even charge us for the last minute check-up, which we really appreciated! I would highly recommend Cumberland Vet Hospital to anyone looking for a new vet in the east end.

We've been bouncing around vets in Ottawa trying to find the right one for us and we've finally found it here. They don't use fear tactics to up-sell procedures. It seems like at every opportunity they're trying to save us money. They're so great with our dog, the vet is very down to earth and spends lots of time explaining everything to us and laying out all the options available to us.

Honest and efficient! Probably the best vet clinic that I have ever used. Dr Amanda was just great with my senior dog. I appreciated that her diagnosis and treatment plan were practical and realistic for our family and the age of the dog, and completely in line with our world view about over-medication. Very efficient processes with friendly bilingual reception staff. Highly recommend!

I've been a client for over 15 years. I've had countless visits with my cats and dogs both young and old. I've seen several of the different vets there and over the years I've met all the admin staff and the technicians. I have never been displeased with any of my visits. Friendly, informative, caring, and customer oriented vets, techs, and staff. Great clinic.

The vet was very informative and did a thorough exam. She was not pushy and completely understood when I did not want to pay for additional tests and/or medication. She provided me with the information and let me make the decision. The front staff was friendly and efficient. The technician was understanding, informative, kind and very gentle with my cat.

Dr Jeffs is such a wonderful and caring vet. One of our dogs is so nervous at his visits and she takes the extra time and care to help him feel comfortable. Her medical care and suggestions are always on point. Front desk Lisa is wonderful, so patient, conscientious and professional. We had a great visit today, thank you!

Go see Dr Jeffs. She has been our vet for nearly 3 years and she is the best. We moved vet clinics just so our cats can still see her. So if you want to get great care for your pets make sure to see her. She will always listen to what your concerns are ensure the best care for your pet.

Always had overall good service. Especially Dr Cliche! Was not a fan of the long lasting Covid rules they had but thats been lifted. Like all clinics Vets are expensive. Make sure you ask the right questions and do your homework before committing to large $. Just my general advice.

I'm so impressed with this clinic. All the staff are amazing and caring. Dr. Arora is one of the best vets I've known. They all take the time to follow-up either by phone text and email. Totally amazing! Thank you all for your generosity and taking care of my Riley boy.

One caveat; veterinarians are thieves: they are ridiculously expensive. My family and I have come here for several dogs and we love the staff here. They are friendly, empathetic and thorough. I would recommend them to anyone. Now we just need to get dogs on OHIP.

I called them to help figure out a problem with my dog over the phone since my vet was closed. Obviously cant do much over the phone but was super nice super knowledgeable told me what to avoid till i could get into my regular vet the next day.

As far as vets go it's pretty good. Everyone is friendly. My only gripe is that they try to make as much money off you as possible. But that's the same with every vet.
