Well, I’m trying to just get over the terrible service I received here and move on to better bike shops or just doing the work myself but, if I can spare anyone else this kind of experience it’d be worthwhile. Here’s the e-mail I sent that they ignored. Maybe kind of scathing but I’m at my wits end with this particular brand of bike shop “Hello, I came in on Monday asking to have the fenders removes from my bike and the brakes repaired to good working order. When I came to pick up my bike the next day the fenders were still on the bike which I found very frustrating but I was in a hurry to get to an appointment so I left. When I went to leave I found the brakes were slightly improved but still in terrible working order. When I brought my bike back in expressing my frustration that I specifically asked to have 2 things done which were not done I was condescended to and ignored when I said I needed to leave because it was more important to them to argue why it wasn’t their fault. They claimed that I never specifically asked to have the brake pads replaced but I simply asked that the brakes be fixed to good working condition but nobody cared to call to ask they just made lazy assumptions. I asked them to ensure they actually test drive the bike this time. When I went back yesterday to pick up the fenders were STILL in place. The mechanic reiterated that it wasn’t necessary because, despite what I thought, they were not in the way of anything. The front fender has to bend whenever the brakes are pulled and the front tire rubs, which he might know if he actually test drove the bike but all that is besides the point because I had already stated several times that I didn’t actually want his opinion on the matter, I just wanted them off. He continued to condescend to me. I rode off to find the front brake still works very poorly. It’s just lazy workmanship. I would come back to have these things rectified but at this point I’m so offended I don’t want to deal with the customer service there and I do not trust my bike in this shop. I would like a refund so I can actually get the work that I needed to get done, done. But given the standard of service so far my hopes aren’t high, I just wanted to give one last chance to do the right thing . In any case, thank you for the lesson on never trusting a shop that charges upfront.”

My boyfriend and I purchased a bike from the shop last summer. About a month after we purchased the bike, we received an e-mail from someone at Denman Bikes saying we owed them additional money because they accidentally sold us the bike at a lower price than it was supposed to be. They told us to come into the store and pay our outstanding balance when we can. We were a bit sketched out and thought this was a weird and unprofessional request, so we left it and never heard back from them about it. You get free warranty tuneups for a year with the purchase of a bike, so in April this year I brought my bike in for a tuneup and to fix a flat tire. I dropped off the bike, paid for a new tire tube, and picked it up the next day. Fast forward about a month later at the end of May I get a call on a Saturday around 5pm from Denman Bikes. Confused, I answer the phone. A woman on the phone said I didn't pay for my last tune up. I said... yes I did? She said they don't have a record of my payment and started asking me for details of who I purchased it from etc when I came in for the tuneup, asking for my details and everything over again. I told her it was a month ago so my memory was pretty hazy and I didn't save my receipt for the tire tube. I didn't know what to say and felt like I needed to prove I had purchased this tire tube? I had the idea to check my credit card statement from the month before and found the purchase, and read it out loud to her (date, dollar amount etc). She said "oh ok thanks" and we hung up. I thought this was incredibly strange and unprofessional. I will say when I had originally purchased the bike the guys that helped me pick out and let me test ride some bikes were helpful, nice and knowledgeable. Most of the people who work there are fine, but the random requests for additional money make me uneasy.

I want to say good things about this bike shop because I like to support small businesses, however, my experience with this shop was not positive. I took my bike in to have the breaks adjusted. The technician told me I had to do a full tune up. After asking a number of questions I agreed. During the tune up they called and said I required a repair to my rear tire... I agreed and blindly followed the advice provided. I pick up my bike, ride it approx 2-3 times and it's making a new wierd sound so I take it back in and was told I need another urgent repair to my back tire. I was in a pinch and needed by bike so I agreed. I picked up my bike later that day and the technician explained the repair done and told me he also adjusted the brakes as they were not properly adjusted. He charged be 50% of the cost as he said it was an issue missed the last time. I ride my bike for 3 more weeks and have another issue with the rear tire. I take it back in and they tell me now after they suggested two repairs to that tire over the last 5 weeks that I need to fully replace the tire. I explain that I have had this fixed twice already here. The technician continues to tell me how it's not their fault and how they can't predict the future. I relied on advice provided which appears to be advice given to get me into the shop multiple times on continuing repairs. Be aware of the advice provided by the technicians, do your research and do not rely on receiving honest advice from this place. The cost I have now spent on repairs here could have purchased me a brand new bike.

Unfortunately I purchased a bike from this store, Julie and Nathan were very helpful in the beginning when I put my deposit down. When I came to pick up the bike, I walked into the store, and the owner (who was doing nothing) said "someone else will help you". At that same time a couple of girls came into the shop, one needed assistance with adding air to her bike tires and the pump outside did not have the nozzle she needed and the owner continued to tell her there is a pump outside. Very rude. He didn't flag anyone to help me, so I walked around to find some help from another employee. The employee that helped me, grabbed my bike and we paid for my bike, he informed me to register my bike and that was it, and moved on to someone else. He didn't offer me to ride it or ensure that the fit was correct for me or confirm that I like it before I paid the remainder of the balance. There was no explanation that all bikes are final sale, and what I should be doing if I run into any issues with my bike. From my understanding I should be bringing my bike in for a check that everything is working properly after a couple of weeks. I'm really disappointed because I want to support local businesses and my interactions initially were good. I had sent an email to the shop describing the interaction, and I haven't heard back from anyone. As a customer that spent money in this shop, acknowledgement would've been very much appreciated. Its really easy to provide good customer service, and moving forward I would not spend my time or money here.

I had a fantastic experience purchasing my new Kona Rove ST 2020. I came in with very limited knowledge of cycling and was immediately assistanted by Nathan and Kyle who obviously had tons of experience and knowledge. They set the bike up for me and sent me on a test ride with no restrictions. After the bike was chosen they helped me pick out all the essentials including tools, bags, lights, locks, etc. Never did I feel like they were upselling me as they had ample justification for every recommendation they made. After a few hours the bike was ready for me (I had some additional customization done to the bike) and I took it home. I do not live in Vancouver so when I started reading forums online about sizing and fit, I began to become nervous about whether I purchased the right size. I voiced my opinion over email and received an extremely reassuring response from Julie the General Manager. She set up an opportunity for Nathan to give me a call the next day he was in and we worked through my concerns. After making some minor tweaks (ie. Inverting the stem and changing the angle of the handlebars) the bike now feels PERFECT. It just goes to show every body is different and there is a lot more to bike than the size of its frame. I just got back from a long ride and I didn't want to stop, I can't wait to go for another. Thank you Denman Bike Shop Team

HORRIBLE customer service, I don't often leave reviews but if I could leave 0 stars I would. Don't be fooled by how popular and busy this place is, it's only because it's one of the only decent bike stores in Vancouver in terms of inventory and styles. But after spending almost $1,000 in their store on my bike and accessories, it was apparent they do not care about their customers returning or being happy. As long as they have their money, they could not care less about you or your bike. I go elsewhere for tune-ups and accessories now which is really unfortunate because the person who was there when I picked up my bike was really helpful and kind with my test ride. They are knowledgable but they do not care about you because bikes are in high demand and they know there will be no shortage of customers. So stay away. They're dishonest, disrespectful and have horrible communication which is really sad because I love my bike and would have like to use these people for my future bike needs. Off to tell the people I referred to them because I get a lot of compliments on my bike style. It was an investment but there are other places I would have rather spent my money.

Terrible management. Uninformed and unhelpful. I just wasted $300 here on PST because they didn’t know that the govt stopped charging PST on e-bikes. Manager was uninformed of the changes and is unwilling to budge an inch to keep her customers happy. I found out about the PST exemption less than 24 hours after I bought the bike. Obviously I would have waited to buy the bike and save myself the $300 had I known. I went back to the shop to see what, if anything they could do. They had no idea about the govt change and was told that the manager would get back to me. I waited and waited. No phone calls, no emails. I called the store, I visited the store. Finally, 2.5 weeks later on another visit into the store, the manager was called by the staff and said there was nothing she could do. I never demanded that I get a refund, I didn’t ask to circumvent any laws. I simply asked if they could do anything and I got silence. Good customer service would entail a response in a decent amount of time, maybe throw in a discount on my next purchase or something. But that was too much to ask so instead I’ll spend my money on future purchases elsewhere.

My daughter recently bought a bike from the Denman Bike Shop for commuting during the pandemic. While riding to work one one day, the non-drive side pedal fell off as the threads on the crank arm had stripped out. When she returned to the shop for assistance, she was told this was a result of her having fallen once. In my opinion having worked in the business for eight years, this is probably more likely a result of the pedal not being torqued to the correct spec while being built. The bike was also returned for a follow up adjustment as requested and obviously this wasn't corrected at that point either. The Denman Bike employee told my daughter that she would have to pay for a new non-drive, non-matching crank arm and that she would be contacted the next day. As she expected, she was never contacted. I removed the crank arm and took it to a bike shop that I deal with, to have them install a helicoil insert to fix the problem. This should been the recommended solution from Denman but, was never offered. Customer service is certainly lacking, at least in this situation.

Extremely unprofessional, dishonest and Disorganized. The moment they knew my bike was a nicer bike, they decided to quote everything more expensive (could hear the reps over the phone basically telling the person I was speaking to on the phone to quote a higher price despite already agreeing on a price before I brought it the bike in). I decided to let it go because bike stores are hurting and the company I work for pays for my bike fixes… and that I just didn’t want to cause a big fuss Asked them to fix one thing, they couldn’t fix it, but decided to charge me something I didn’t tell them to fix even though I never told them to touch it. It was such an odd experience…. Worst part? They also scratched my fork by accident but didn’t tell me about it. They thought I wouldn’t notice. It’s a brand new bike….. just ridiculous…… the mechanic was not great to deal with. At the end of the day, they charged me more, charged me on something that didn’t need fixing, couldn’t fix a single darn thing, and damaged my bike. Stayyyyyy far away.

It was an absolute pleasure purchasing a bike here. I did a bunch of research on bikes and had visited a few different shops as I was looking and I really appreciated the fact that the staff here didn't try and talk me out of the frame style I really loved and wanted. They were easy to talk to and friendly without being pushy. They clearly and patiently talked through the different options and shared their knowledge about any and all adjustments that could be made to make the bike perfect for me. They also walked me through the lock options for keeping my bike as safe as possible. I loved how collaborative the staff were as well. It was really nice to see them working as a team and supporting each other and me when needed. It was nice to have a different perspective on occasion and no offence taken when I didn't like the suggestion! I'd recommend checking them out if you are in the market for a bike! Even if you don't find exactly what you are looking for, the vibe is much better than many of the shops I went into.

This store is just off the 10th ave bike route right on the corner of Main Street. The store has a focus on practical bikes that encourage cycling for fun over racing performance. It probably has the lowest intimidation factor of any shop in Vancouver. Great for families and locals who value service and unique products that won't break the bank. It totally has a west coast feel going on with products like Electra Townies and colourful accessories. They seem to have a bigger selection of commuter stuff these days as waterproof clothing and bright lights are pretty important here. But they can still hook you up in true Socal style with an eye popping blinged out cruiser bike. But like I said their emphasis on commuter stuff like Kona and Opus lets them offer faster bikes for those looking to rip.

Avoid at all costs. I took my bike in for a tune up and they convinced me to replace my brake/shifting cables, among other things. Which they completely botched. I spent over 550$ and my bike is now worse off than before. Within two days my front deraileur had failed completely, while I was on a bikepacking trip on the sunshine coast. I took it into a bike shop up there and they told me that it looked like whoever installed my new cables had also severely damaged them in the installation process. This is a bike shop who employs people who are apparently ok with producing shoddy work. I am now in the process of getting my cables replaced again elsewhere. I don't want my bike anywhere near these people. Again, avoid at all costs. This is not a good shop.

Amazing service here. Ryan C went above and beyond for my bike after a part replacement, repair, and tuning. Detailed and friendly service. This is my go to shop. Before this recent repair I was consistently getting flat tires and could not find any potential hazards (glass etc) in the wheel. I had taken it to multiple other bike shops for service and no one had been able to find anything in the wheel either and I was told that “tubes are just flimsy and there is nothing wrong with it”. Then I took it to Denman bikes and they had a proper look and found this tiny thin piece of metal in the wheel that was slowly wearing down the tube. Nobody but Denman bike shop could find the problem! Expert and detailed service that I can always count on.

  • Kris O'Neill

I had an overall pleasant experience here, I went in with a bicycle issue on a "new" second-hand bike, the mechanic sorted the issue right away (even though the shop was closing in 15 minutes)! He was super pleasant and understanding, he charged me a VERY fair price and I walked away very happy with my experience here - I would go back, just for this mechanic and his customer service skills. The only notable issue being that the (I think?) owners were having a slight squabble and not communicating properly, which made for a slightly tense atmosphere for customers! Other than that I would definitely go back, the shop was very well presented and the mechanic did not try to rip me off - which makes them seem far more trustworthy.

  • Tim Maskell

I love the team that work at this bike store. Always friendly and everyone seems really into bikes and gear that is good and fun. They have a great range of products from practical items to fun decorative stuff to personalize your bike. I bought my Brooklyn Driggs from this store several years ago and take it back here for servicing when required. They do a great job and my bike is always a noticeably better ride when I ride away. A special shout out to Ryan who was brilliant on my most recent visit and helped check my bike after some damage from a car driver side swiped me by swerving into my lane. My bike is back in good shape and ready for some great spring rides.

  • Captain Feltan

Customer service was a joke. My rear gear hub gave out (which is uncommon for this part) just past the 1 year warranty from the shop (not their fault). But instead of providing information on what to do or helping me contact either the bike or part manufacturer, they told me I would have to replace it out of pocket, which would have been a cost close to the original cost of the bike. Before I could even decide on whether I was going to do so through their shop, they called to tell me to pick it up because it took up too much room in the shop. Like I said. customer service is a joke. Once they get your money for the initial purchase that’s all they seem to care about.

I just bought my second bike at Denman Bike Shop. I keep going back because they are consistently excellent. I agree with a previous reviewer that it's the local bike shop some of us were needing in the neighbourhood. I'm a commuter cyclist, not 'hard-core' and not looking for speed from my bike. I appreciate that the sales staff are knowledgeable, courteous and didn't try to up-sell or pressure me (thank you Ryan and Hayley!). Also, it was good to see a woman ( A WOMAN!!!) in the shop! Finally!!! After years of going into various bike shops and being served by (usually) perfectly pleasant men, a female mechanic helped me. Wonderful!

  • Darryll

BEWARE! Sleazy & dishonest bike shop. Hope i can give negative star. Recently bought a 2nd hand trek bike for my kid which needed a new pad. They told me that they rather replace the whole brake system so its "easier" to replace because apparently its "hard" to find the replacement OEM pads. (FYI - just googled using the brake set model # and i got so many hits. Amazon.ca and Trek has it in stock). Was quoted $546 ($239 labor which they inserted a $99 tune up, 309 parts, -28 so called discount on cables lol then taxes) . Bike was $250 from Marketplace. I'll be heading to Trek store to see their recommendation.

Were tentatively looking for a new bike for my wife. The service was not only condescending but wildly uninformed--we were told that getting a bike with drop handlebars for under $1k was "impossible, even on craigslist" and that used bikes with drop handle bars would be even "more expensive". I have no idea where this dude was getting his information but it wasn't from reality. We already own 2 great used sub-$1k road bikes and had test-rode 3 new ones at other shops in the neighbourhood that day. Highly recommend simply walking a few blocks to Bikes for All for more knowledgeable service and better selection.

I just made my first purchase of a helmet and selected curbside pick up. I intentionally picked a smaller local company in these covid-19 days. Purchasing online was easy, I called a couple days later when I hadn't heard about my pickup being available and I really want the helmet. Julie texted me back right away and was looking into my order. About an hour later I had a call telling me it was ready for pick up. I showed up waited in a short line and had my helmet. I was very happy with my experience as I can appreciate they are extremely busy right now and trying to adjust to new process. Highly recommend!

  • mantak chia

Walked my road bike tire in to have a flat repaired. Tried to scare me into buying a whole new tire..."can't guarentee it will hold on this old and cracked tire". The tire was less than a year old and hadn't been on the road since early fall of last year. I was in a big hurry that day so I paid for the repair. Upselling, dishonest sales, and inflated prices (repair was $6 to $8 more than all the other shops in the area). We have four bikes in our household; i'm NEVER setting foot in that shop or the other location again. EVER. Im forced to put one star to leave a review but....I think it's a little high.

  • Alexi A Bergeron

If you're looking for knowledgeable staff, a great selection of bikes, and a convenient location just at the bast of Main St., this is the spot! The crew at Denman Bikes are PASSIONATE about bicycles and it really comes through in the purchase experience. They will let you know all the different options available and help you find the machine that's right for you. Unlike some of the other shops in town they offer bikes from a variety of different vendors, each trim line hand picked by the staff. I went to about 4 different shops on the East side and the crew here were by far the most helpful.

  • Dannie Piezas

Got a quick (<10 minute) tune up for my vintage Free Spirit for $21. Not bad, though I wish they spent a little longer checking the other parts besides those I mentioned. As a noob, I might have missed some things, and true enough my pedals went click-ety on the way home... for some reason. I'd asked about tire replacement since my current ones are from the 80s and they advised that it didn't need it at the moment. I appreciate that they didn't try to push an upsell beyond what I needed! They carry potential replacement 27 in tires and I would return here again for future needs.

  • Ihab Fahmy

I gave them a new bike to make it tubeless they've done a horrible job liquid leaking from every where I took it back they put air in it by the time I got home it's already flat I opened the tire to descover a the tape is floating and the liquid under it I don't understand why do something you don't have experience in it you charge me money for horrible job not only that you skratch my bike when you assembled it I took it to Kona to show them what horrible job you did they said that's why they stopped dealing with you guys that's not acceptable

  • Alysha Scales

Super helpful in helping me with a helmet and pedals for a new bike bought off craigslist. It’s nice to know that shops are still serving their customers (in a socially distant way) during COVID-19. Julie helped me narrow down the right helmet and when I purchased pedals to replace some clip-ins, she recommended they install them which would cost less than buying the tools to do it myself. Once I got to the store, someone else helped me with the position on my bike and gave me some great tips on my new bike! This place is amazing!

  • Adrian Berry

I contacted Denman Bike Shop re their Kona Rove, and was informed that that model was sold out but they had my size in next model. I had to postpone a few times, and they got back to me by email faster than most pick up a phone X 2 (Julie). I arrived at their shop, and as usual, was met by amazing service, I tried out the bike, and promptly purchased it. This was my second purchase from them and I’m quite impressed. (I owned 2 shops and ran 5, their customer service is fantastic.) I know where my go to shop is now!

  • Abby Nicole

This is the best bike shop I’ve ever experienced! So much so that I drive my bike over instead of going to the bike shop across the street from my house. They are so friendly, helpful, non-judgmental, & have a great range of products for any budget/use. They have fixed any issue that I have had with my bicycle at a very low cost. I bought my bike from them two years ago & have had excellent experiences with the staff & products/accessories purchased from them every single time. Thank you all so much!!

  • Cherlyn Cortes-Manderson

I cycle - rain or shine - 365 days a year. I bring my bike here for tune ups and any repairs. At first I chose this place because it was withing walking distance to pick up the bike after I dropped it off. But I've found everyone I've dealt with so far (at least 4 different staff members now) to be courteous, genuinely friendly, and provide non-intimidating service. Always explain what they repaired and why. And they let me know what needs to be done now and what can wait. Highly recommended!

  • Elvin

The woman I bought a bike from today recommended I swing by this shop to have my tires pumped. I ended up purchasing new pedals and wheel locks from Nathan, and got a lot of great information about everything else I could possibly need. Nathan was super great to interact with, very knowledgable and not pushy at all. It was the same way with the gent ahead of me. I don't live anywhere near this location, but I will definitely return for anything I need in the future. Bonus: there is a dog!

  • thatguy737

Horrific customer service. Takes ages for them to reply to emails - which seems to be the only way they are able t make appointments and communicate. Bought a bike off Denman and really regret it. Follow up service is non existent - if u can buy a Kona elsewhere than do that. Staff aren't so bad but the manager has no idea and she is very rude / unfriendly. She sets the tone in this place. Take your business some place where they actually appreciate it and don't take you for granted.

  • Walter Edgar

Deman has an appalling customer service. I've tried to book an appointment via email for weeks. They responded the first couple of times and suddenly no response. I had to service my bike somewhere else! For a bike a bought at Denman! Nobody answered the phone so I followed the instructions they gave me to no avail. Send a couple of follow up email and I got crickets in response. If you are too busy to service my bike, at least have the courtesy and respond to my emails!!

  • Ashley Gartshore

I just purchased a bike from Denman Bikes and the entire team was wonderful to work with. Morgan and Pavel were especially amazing, offering me all of the time and space I needed to determine which bike was the best fit for me, and without pressure. They answered all of my questions and really made the whole experience a pleasure. This was huge for me, as I’ve avoided riding a bike for over a decade due to shoulder injuries. I’d buy another bike here in a heartbeat!

  • BluBear

I could have ordered the bike I bought at this store online. Instead, I drove 45 minutes to support a not so local bike shop because they had stock. In the end there was no difference to online ordering. The person that "helped" me was so intensely indifferent to any of my questions, that I felt that I was preventing him from enjoying his Saturday morning. I won't be back...I'd hate to be a bother. Oh yeah, I didn't get any documentation or manuals, either.

  • Ted Woods

Just went there to try and have my bike fixed and was looked at and sent away with no help being told to go to another bike shop that was more my price range .. when I had more then enough cash in my pocket and just wanted my bike fixed... I got that look as my bike was crappy because I got it for free I must be poor and can't afford this place.. first and last time I go there... Just because people don't look like they have money doesn't mean a damn thing!

  • Simon Black

I bought a nice bike from this shop yesterday. Mike and Rose, the sales folks who helped me, were friendly and informative. No pressure. They have a good selection of cruiser and comfort bikes. Good quality manufacturers like Linus, Opus, and Electra. Unlike some other stores that specialize in mountain bikes and street racers, I think this shop also does a good job helping women ... especially those who are looking for a practical, comfortable city bike.

  • Ryan Schebek

Prices are not competitive. They charged more than twice as much as other bike shops in the area that are a few blocks away and did a terrible job. Brake pads were installed wrong and they let me ride my bike home with a loose wheel that was about to fall off. This happened Even though I left the bike with the owner of the shop. Owner seemed kinda clueless and rung up my purchase incorrectly at the till and confused the staff when I came to pick up.

  • Quinn Thomas

Amazing staff, have helped me sometimes without charging. Gave my bike a great springtime tune up at a reasonable price. Very professional in how it is handled. For background I have had experiences at other bike shops where I have paid 170$ for not even really fixing my problem. (Kissing crows). Here that same amount makes me feel like I’m riding a new bike. Super friendly and genuine staff. The only place I go to have my bike looked at.

  • Mike VDS

Thanks Denman Bike Shop! A+ experience with getting my new Kona touring bike from you all and several accessories that were added on. The bike came in 2 months earlier than expected which was an added bonus. Everyone who helped was extremely friendly and it felt like I was with some good friends. Thanks again for the great experience of ordering the bike and picking it up with zero issues. You’ve got a return customer in me.

  • Maureen

For months I was trying to figure out who could help me tweek my bike and answer my bike questions to make my ride more dutch-like but maintain the performance - CJ understood my needs. The customer service I received from CJ was so on point and he provided a wealth of incredibly deep knowledge - he understood exactly what challenges I was having on multiple levels. I highly recommend his knowledge and insight! Thank-you CJ!

  • D Ward

Went in with a few questions on the weekend (5/9/21) about purchasing a new bike and the snottyness and lack of help was ridiculous. The sense of entitlement and how rude they were (I believe it was the manager) just made me walk away and ended up going to another local bike shop and spending more there due to better customer service. If you ask a question they almost try to make you feel like a bother or stupid for asking

  • Travis C

The customer service has gone bad. Used to come here for bike tuneups, dropped in today for a tune up and they told me they couldn’t help me. Asked them to clarify what that meant and the manager didn’t even speak to me, even though I was clearly in front of them and heard them talking and all she told the employee was that they ‘tightened up their policies’. felt shady and didn’t even offer a solution of where to go.

  • Justin Ninness

I had a great experience purchasing from Denman Bike shop online. I ordered a bike lock and they went above and beyond. I received the lock the next business day, and the shop took the time to write a hand-written note, suggesting I register my lock with the manufacturer in case I lose they, and also recommending I register my bike with 529 garage to help return it to me in case it gets stolen someday. Thanks Denman!

  • Jennifer Himmel Roberts

Denman Bikes at Main & 10th went above and beyond for me today. I really appreciated their prompt service, courteous manner, and knowledge of my bikes problem. The bike mechanic spent a great deal of time teaching me all about what was going wrong with my coaster breaks and did a bang up job fixing my finicky break and hub. Now my Linus single speed back peddle bike is riding better then the day I bought it. Thanks!

Best experience I’ve ever had in a bike shop! Bike shops in Vancouver can be very pretentious and unwelcoming, but the people working in the shop when I bought my bike today were the opposite. They were extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient while I decided which frame size I wanted and made adjustments to make sure it was the perfect fit! Thank you Justin and Lincoln! I will absolutely be coming back :)

  • Trey Williams

Fantastic experience today in this bike shop! I asked some questions about which bike lock I should get for my new bike… C Jay was very professional, so knowledgeable, efficient about how he informed me about all the different bike locks they had in there shop! And which one was great for my bike! I absolutely loved it! If you have any questions about anything - go to C Jay! Thank again for your service!

  • billy bob

Customer service was great! Staff didn't judge my used bike in the slightest, and were very well coordinated with each other. Lots of options for both bikes and locks to choose from. Kevin was super friendly and quickly came up with solutions to my wobbly rims. He even took the time to run through all the gears to make sure there were no other outstanding problems. Thanks and much appreciated! :)

  • Tegan Williams

Read the other reviews. The best service I’ve had here usually ends with them referring us to another bike shop that specializes in what we’re looking for. They have never had what we’re looking for in stock, so I’ve almost always ended up going somewhere else. Last item I bought from them was clearly not compatible with my bike, or most bikes for that matter. Didn’t find out until I got home.

  • Kabooles P

I reserved one star as we didn’t buy any of their products. We passed by another day looked for kids bike, they don’t have any suitable size, but they recommended several other places and provided some useful suggestions. If they can be so kind to a non-customer, I would assume their overall customer service should be great! I will remember to go back if one day I have other needs with bikes!

  • Robert Goldney

bought an inner tube from them about a week ago, but got the wrong size, i went back hoping to exchange it for the correct size, but was told that it doesn't matter if its unused, they do not accept exchanges. not the end of the world, But I wouldn't recommend shopping here considering the amount of bike shops in the area offering lower prices and better customer service.

  • Imogen Tyers

The guy that served me (I wish I could remember his name) was incredibly helpful and friendly! He found me the perfect commuter bike and guided me through finding the right accessories within my budget. They fitted out the bike so it was ready to ride away. Will definitely be coming back here for any other cycling purchases. All of the other staff were lovely too! :)

  • Amy Harris

I took my ‘Franken-bike’ in to just get a tune up and these guys were SO great! They were really excited about my bike & I was just really made up. Really great service and so friendly, I’ve had bad experiences with bike companies being snobby about bikes before but I’ve been telling everyone I know to go to these guys because I was just so thrilled. Thanks guys :)

  • Spencer Landsiedel

NEVER going back to Denman Cycles. I paid over $250 for a standard tuneup, front/rear brake replacement, and labour. Less than a month later, I returned to get a new tube. What did they tell me? "You'll need your brakes replaced soon." I checked out my brakes and sure enough - I paid for new brakes, but they never actually installed them. Watch out for these guys.

  • Campbell Alexander

Super helpful crew of workers here. This is the local corner bike store I have been wanting. They service all your commuter and E-bike needs and more. I just picked up my new Kona, and they mechanic there came off the tools and worked with me to adjust and change out parts to get my cockpit just right. Happy with the new bike, and looking forward to going back.

  • Chilwin Cheng

Great selection. Fair prices. Really helpful staff. They don't carry low end bikes. But for the quality point, very competitive prices. Staff are really passionate about cycling. Excellent selection of gear. Labour rates fair and competitive. With my bike, got free tune ups! Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a bike in Vancouver.

  • Kathryn Biddulph

I"ve been in the Main street location a couple times now for service and to pick up some accessories for my bike. The staff is always super helpful and some recognize me when I come in now! Definitely my go-to bike shop. It's great knowing there is also a location downtown in case I run into any issues when I'm out riding!

  • Daniel Lopez

From the moment we walked in the service was top notch and the guys were very friendly and knowledgeable. Ended up buying an OPUS bike with a lifetime warranty on the frame (+1 year free tune ups!) and the bike is exceeding all my expectations in terms of the design and the performance. Would 100% recommend this spot.

  • Will Danicek

All I asked as a staffer was walking out the door at 10am ( I know they don't open til 12) was IF they had a crank arm. He said come back, stand in line , and maybe he might have something. I understand covid issues, but come on people, we shouldn't have to wait in a queue to find out if they even have a part to sell.

  • Ingmar Albig

They just missed out on at least 1500 dollars on revenue. We had already set our eyes on two bikes and woul have tested them but we didnt have a photo id with us. We were there with our 4 year old who would have waited in the shop with one of us, so what is the deal??? We can hardly run off ?

  • Aimee Epp

Great staff, fantastic shop! Learned tons about my existing bike and how - with some very small improvements - it could work better for me. Very patient staff took plenty of time to answer my many questions. After a tune up and a few small upgrades, my bike has never felt or ridden better.

  • MK Mercado

Just the coolest. Shoutout to Julie, Justis, and Ted on being the most helpful, friendly, and knowledgable peeps. These guys went above and beyond helping me get my first bike ready to roll. Thanks for giving this noob a wonderful experience, 11/10 would come again!

  • Leo Wilk

Just bought two citi bike from Denam Bike shop on Main. Alex was one of the most helpful people I have ever had the experience of buying something off ....ever! Super friendly, helpful and non salesish! Great experience and I am glad I went there!

  • Daniel Roberts

I bought a water bottle holder, a light, and a new chain about a month ago and they all broke within the first 10 days. Not reliable. Nice people and a cool shop. But they seemed fairly u knowledgable about road bikes and gave me some bad advice

  • David T

Great experience. Brought my bike in for an opinion of a nagging issue. Technician stopped what he was doing, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it on the spot, didn’t even charge me for the (minor) part. In and out in 2 minutes. Much appreciated

  • Young Chia

Went in to get a bike fixed, told them I don’t really care how much it costs as it’ll be cheaper than a new bike and the mechanic basically refused to work on it. Sorta over it, it’s outside their store if anybody wants to grab it for parts.

  • James Huh

Doesn't get better with Pavel and Todd. They know exactly what needs to be done for repairs and do it cost effectively. It helped me out tremendously as I'm currently not working and on a tight budget. I really appreciated them. Thank you

  • kyle mason

super cool shop! great staff, excellent quality work and lightning fast turn around! they had the parts i needed without any messing around, and the overall mechanic knowledge was crazy! they know their stuff! A-1 service for sure!

  • Britney Burrell

One of the worst customer service / sales experiences. Had to wait at the counter to ask someone for help despite an almost empty store, and when I shared what I was looking for, they pointed toward a wall with the products.

  • Krysten Neeson

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Didn’t ever feel like they were pushing me in a direction I didn’t want to go. I’m in love with my new bike and could not be happier. I can’t wait to start riding my new bike!

  • Alex Smith

Not a place to go to if you don't know exactly what you need. Went with some questions and told they can't help cause they can't begin to narrow down what I need. Felt like I was bothering them more than anything.

  • Neil Macqueen

Great bike shop with excellent help and service. The folks in there are so kind and really were a huge help when selecting a new bike. Definitely worth a pop in if you're looking for new wheels or service.

  • David Balzer

Quoted me $400 repair on two broken spokes and to true a front wheel on a bike purchased from them last summer. I got went down the road to la bicecleta and got it done for $60... How do you justify that

  • Emily Chernoff

Amazing customer service! Everyone in the shop was helpful and friendly. They were able to do a quick 5 minute service on my bike because I was short of time. Would definitely recommend to friends!

  • M Rod

I stopped in to test some classic hybrids and even though I did not ultimately purchase from them, it was a great experience! Thanks for taking the time to chat and share your knowledge Pavel!

  • Evol Casper

There's better service in the area. I don't think this company appreciates loyalty. I think they just treat people like garbage. Its definitely not a place I'm going back to or recommending.

  • Michaela Arimare

Great service here. Took my mtb in to investigate a shuddering and they told me the solution right away, instead of trying to sell me a part I didn’t need. Very friendly and helpful staff.

  • Daniel Chung

Walked in with some questions on how to service my bike, and the mechanic was super helpful and nice! He was knowledgeable and gave good suggestions and advice on how to solve my problem.

  • giovanni smaldino

Don't pay for anything upfront. These guys are crooks. Denman Bike Shop just ripped me off on bike repairs totalling $200. Save yourself the trouble, there's better bike shops in town.

  • Dean Glueckler

I bought a Kona from these guys and I absolutely love it. They had my size in stock and everything. I've been riding it around Vancouver, killin it. Would recommend checking them out.

  • Liane Arness

Really friendly and knowledgeable staff, they helped me get my new bike all set up and kitted out exactly as I wanted. As a bonus, there's some pretty cute dogs that hang out there :)

  • Julia Hornyak

These workers are amazing!! They did such a beautiful job on my bike. Friendly knowledgeable staff. I have been to a lot of bike shops but this is the best one. Thank you …

  • Rum

Ordered my Electra bike and it came one month early! So delighted!! The accessories were also available and were mounted quickly. Thank you Julie @ Denman bikes! Love my Loft7D!

  • David H

Both times I've been in store, the attendant was extremely knowledgeable and not pushy for the sale. I haven't experienced service this terrific in a very very long time.

  • P.G. Reitsma

One of the very few cool original shops left in the city. Lots of great components, accessories and gear. Great staff and mechanics make it an easy breezy experience.

  • stephen mills

Nice people very helpful. They were closing when I came in. But they did help me so I will be back when I have a little bit more time to go a little bit earlier

  • Barrett Wilson

Even though I did not buy a bike, I did get an education and a lot of attention for the shop owners. You can tell they love their trade. I will be back to buy.

  • zolbayar c

they perfected this beauty for me. I feel ashamed, I don't bike as often. My mom loves her bike, uses regularly. Btw, customer service is jaw dropping …

  • Deirdre Donnellan

I punctured my tire and brought my bike in. Mitch fixed it in no time and was excellent. Gave me good advice on how to maintain my bike. thanks guys …

  • Emma Brown

Just bought a bike today, staff was very kind, helpful and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking to buy a set-up that's perfect for them.

  • Jesse Pavlovic

Poor customer service, took over 30 minutes for a simple tube replacement. Also asked to put a mask on after being already inside for 20minutes.

  • Brandon Sinclair

Denman bikes is a fantastic place with fantastic people. They go out of there way to show great customer service and they carry momentum watches

  • Larry Tremblay

I highly recommend this shop. I paid for a new drive train. but they tuned up the whole bike. On budget, on time. Thanks for the Dream Machine

  • Tony Jackson

We were very impressed with everyone and how helpful, polite, and professional, everyone was . thank very much for a wonderful experience.

  • Nicholas Merriman

Kyle will go out of his way to help you and to lift up the entire Vancouver cycling community. Highly recommend supporting these peeps!

  • Liam O'Briain

Very helpful and informative staff. Had new brakes installed, when I had issues they fixed the issue the next day at no extra cost.

  • jeremie touzery

Amazing customer service ! I bought the wrong child seat for my bike and they replaced it for an other one at no extra cost. …

  • Jake Morgan

Thanks to Pavel, for taking the time answer all our questions and taking the time to set us up on test riding the Kona range.

  • CADRollHunting

  • David Smith

Great experience at Denman Bikes on Main. Staff were super helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. We'll be back! Thanks.

  • Kyrstn Zylich

Friendly, helpful staff. Had a great experience buying a new bike. Will definitely go back for all of my bike needs.

  • Elias Carter

The owners try to up-sell you on everything and use scare tactics in order to get you to buy security accessories.
