This is the worst surgery I've ever had the unfortunate experience of becoming one of their patients for a short 5 months. Firstly, I'm bedbound and they were told this yet I had to visit the surgery for my initial medication review with the pharmacist. Their poorly designed and erected disabled access should have made me realise these were not disabled friendly people. My health had deteriorated so much in those 5 months that I had no other option but to change surgeries yet again. S Abdi and N Abdi are awful and don't deserve the title of GP or Dr as both were very rushed with me and would interrupt me and contradict what I was saying. S Abdi hung up on me before I had chance to get what I needed! This in itself caused a bad stress reaction and I was in a lot of distress that triggered my pain and discomfort all night long and my husband had to call 999, and all because S Abdi didn't give me chance to finish what I was asking for. He said he was not prepared to talk to me after I said to him when he interrupted me, that I was still talking then. If I was not so unwell because of this surgery and it's poor management of new I would make a formal complaint (still have time so maybe!).
As a family who have used this practice for many years, we have always found all staff to be very helpful . The current GP’s at practice are extremely caring and always willing to allay any concerns . Also it is always relatively easy to contact the practice during these particularly busy trying times . we would particularly like to pass on our sincere thanks to Alison , the CM at practice , who has looked after our father for a number of months . We have always found her to be extremely professional , helpful, willing to help and provide advice regarding our father’s complex health issues . We can appreciate how busy she must be with heavy case loads , but she is always willing to visit , call in and check our father . Alison is a real asset to the practice , and should be valued as such , especially in these very difficult ,trying times Many Thanks to Alison and rest of the Team
Disgusted with this practise. Always get treated like we are a nuisance by the receptionist. Very rude and not sympathetic in the slightest. My 7 month old baby is very poorly and the receptionists are extremely rude, always have an attitude and are just ridiculously unprofessional. The doctors are ok. The only time we have been treated with respect is when we have been seen by the nurse, she is so lovely and very caring. Everyone else is rude and they obviously have an attitude problem. Currently looking for a new practise, the WORST set of professionals I have EVER dealt with. Would not recommend Derby Lane Medical Centre ATALL!!!!!!!!!
All the staff are wonderful. I have no idea whatsoever why there are negative reviews. I have never had a problem making an appointment. I have never experienced anything less than total professionalism by all the staff both reception and medical. I transferred to this practice when my previous one closed when I was a child. 40yrs with this practice and never once have I considered changing or even experienced any problems. Working in the NHS is extremely challenging for a multitude of reasons and all the staff at DLMC are amazing. Highly recommended.
Put a prescription in for my premature baby for her formula witch you can’t just get out of the shop, so when contacted about the excuse we had a problem with the hyphen in her name so it was left. And got the prescription witch has to be ordered and couldn’t get anywhere, and when we contacted them back was told to go to boots and ask for anything similar and if they haven’t they can order it back to square one oooo yeah baby has no formula left because of your staffs incompetence and not contacting the parents about the name just left it.
I would just like to take an opportunity to say what a credit Doctor Barba is to this practise. He is literally the best doctor I’ve had since I can remember. He is very caring and has put my little boy Louie as a top priority anytime he has been poorly. Even visiting us both at home when we both recently tested positive for Covid to make sure we were both doing okay. Thank you so much for always treating Louie very quickly and putting my mind at ease during these times. Kindest regards. Paula Lee.
I’ve been with this practice for over 40 years. The reception staff are brilliant. However, the worse thing happened when Dr Barba left. He was a great asset to the surgery and the best GP I have ever been treated by there. What a shame he retired. Although the staff at reception and the nurse practitioners are brilliant, I can’t say the same about the remaining GP’s.
Called in today because I was late ordering my repeat prescription, my own fault. I had to leave for London and it wouldn’t be ready. The lady on reception was really helpful and rerouted my prescription to a chemist near my hotel in London. Arrived at 5.30pm at the chemist and it was ready. Thank you as a few days without my meds would have been awful.
Information about how to download the appointments app and the ods code , they wont post it. You have to personally visit the GP practice which is not practical as we work monday to friday 9 to 5 and they are only open when we work. Its not practical for us to get off on holiday just to collect this sheet of paper which can be posted.
Don't get the whole process of getting an appointment. If you don't ring first thing in the morning they are all gone however working nights and finishing at 6am you ain't going to wait up until 8am to ring up. Dr Barba leaving is sad. One of the best doctors I've ever met
Since new ownership I have been treated like a child by new, they said the no what's best for me,when I have been under a consultant,Dr Barba has been fabulous an will be sorely missed
i wish I knew why can't i get through within an hour to make an appointment and why does the call gets dropped every 20 minutes. I am pregnant and just wanted to be seen by my GP :(
Doctor Barba is brilliant. He seems to genuinely care and has been the only doctor that has helped my partner with his mental health.
We have been with this practice for 47 years always sympathetic and friendly, Dr barba is very caring and patient.
