I have been a customer at Carmel Mountain Dirty Dogs for a while and have had great experiences up until today - I even drive past multiple other Dirty Dogs because they have excelled over other locations. I scheduled an appointment for my goldendoodle to get a haircut over the phone, explicitly stating that my dog was not matted, and when my boyfriend arrived to drop my dog off, the groomer (unsure of her name, but she is "new") was immediately rude and was practically yelling at him and giving him attitude. He called me to ask if I scheduled a buzz cut for my dog, and I said no. Meanwhile, I was listening over the phone and heard the groomer's tone, and even asked my boyfriend why she was being so rude. Apparently they didn't plan enough time for my dog to have a normal haircut (?) so they said it was a buzz or nothing. My boyfriend's intuition told him to not leave our dog with the groomer, because she did not seem like a safe person to put in charge of him. The person at the front desk called me immediately after, and was much nicer. She apologized that they weren't able to accommodate my dog, and told me to ask for a "doggy haircut" next time. She also let me know that the scheduling error was caused by another "new" employee who was still learning. As much as I hate writing bad reviews, this felt like something that needed to be shared. I have worked (too) many years in customer service, and never in my wildest dreams is it okay to speak so rudely to a customer. If something is an error on the business' part, they should be willing to make it right and accommodate the customer. I understand it's Friday, and you probably have plans, but we carved time out of our day to use your service, and it's really unprofessional to be turned away based on an error that wasn't even ours. Unfortunately we will be finding a new groomer and will not be recommending this Dirty Dogs anymore.

Initial attempt was rocky with bad information given to me over the phone. I've given them a handful of attempts with only 1 good account. They used to be over booked with a week or two wait time for an opening pre-covid and apparently getting back to being busy again. They offer a discounted price on a certain day of the week (Wed.) but there is always an excuse to not do the "job" of bathing or trimming nails, so it's a waste of my time which cost me money still (my time is money just like they pay their employees hourly and need an ROI to cover P&L). Employees are hit & miss with personality & customer service. This place has been unreliable three times for services the day of my appointment (a simple bath, dry & nail trim) after scheduling 2 weeks in advance. They offer a service to the public and I try to patron a local small business but they can't even provide the service. Maybe they just pick & choose who they want to cater to based on the amount of effort/work and wishful tipping, or maybe they practice profiling based on a biased perception of socio-economic class or dare I say they are prejudice against ethnicity? I don't mind paying 6x the cost (1 out of 2 canines so 12x) of me doing it myself, but they just come off as a snobby business now. They shouldn't offer a discounted day, make appointments and flake out last minute. Not good business but obviously they don't care since they have money rolling in either way. If you consider this place, just be prepared and have a backup just incase. I can't speak on the quality of "cutting fur" but don't expect Show Quality (expect house pet) and bathing is a big hit & miss especially for the regular & even discounted prices. My Autism Companions have been given better baths by me at the local car wash dog station ‍♂️‍♂️.

I have to share this about Dirty Dogs in Carmel Mountain.... I feel it’s important to share the good with the bad of groomers and grooming places that are local. I am terribly disappointed in Dirty Dogs. We have gone there about 4 times sense I moved to the area. I love the groomers! I love the “No” leash policy. Truthfully, I actually have nothing bad to say about the groomers, they were fantastic! However, I must share that I’ve had to go elsewhere. It has always been $89-95 to do everything without nails being trimmed. They raised it....not the normal, maybe $10-$15 NOPE! They raised me $50 bucks to $149... WHAAAAT?!? No thanks! I changed to Monica, owner of “All Paws”. I cannot believe how amazing she is with my Akita Sheppard, Dakota. He’s very, very fluffy and doesn’t like anyone touching his paws. Not only did Monica do an amazing bath, cut and shave, she was able to trim his nails, my vet has not had any success. I just Cannot say enough good things about her, plus she was very reasonable at $95 for everything, (including nail trim). Sorry, I just wanted to reiterate how seriously disappointed In Dirty Dogs that I am. I would not recommend them at all, $$ has become more important than repeat customers. Sorry for the rant. Truth has to be shared Oh, and I forgot to mention, if you notice, they never respond to negative reviews as you can tell, they have no desire to reconcile their issues. Too bad for this customer and her pup, not again!

Wonderful experience every time I walk in! Usually only to buy nutritious natural treats for my boy, but my last visit they informed me of the self serve bathtubs that included EVERYTHING I needed, towels, shampoo, blow dry, cotton swabs, the works, and all the time I needed to make sure my boy was comfy, all for such an amazingly affordable price. They never rushed me and showed genuine care about my four legged buddy, checking in with me often as I bathed him, making sure I had everything I needed and more! And when all was said and done, Sean checked in with me about my last visit, inquiring about my boys food and health, he offered a caring ear and very helpful and thorough information about the dog foods they offer. I took his advice and gave my boy a sample of the 100% raw food bars from Northwest Naturals, and my boy was immediately filled with playful energy, alertness, and an appetite that left him licking the bowl clean. A smart switch from the overly priced processed dog food I was feeding him from another pet chain who had me thinking it was so good for him! Proof is in the pudding, or in this case beef, and my boys happy demeanour is it! I'll be switching my boy to a newer better diet and saving thanks to Sean! You guys rock!

I took my dog to this facility at the end of January for a grooming, nail trimming , and gland expression. After the service I took (80 pound German Shepard mix) home and she wasn’t herself. The next day she wouldn’t / couldn’t lift her tail. Every time she attempted to she would yelp & cry. Her tail was low and between her hind for the entire day and wouldn’t move much. I got nervous and took her to the vet, which she was then diagnosed with a sprained tail. Mind you she went into dirty dogs completely fine, the vet explained they could have pulled on her tail too hard when attempting the gland expression. I DO NOT recommend this place, clearly they don’t handle dogs the correct way. When I called for my money back / vet bill paid they said they would take care of it and here I am two months later and still waiting for a check. It’s not the money that matters it’s the way they treated my dog & handled the situation poorly. My dog was in pain and couldn’t lift her tail for a week! This shouldn’t happen at a grooming facility. Unfortunately I’m writing this review because the situation was never resolved on the business end and they didn’t handle the situation correctly.

Store manager was extremely rude. It took her forever to bring me the shampoo and conditioner. I had to ask for towels because I didn’t have any. She told me they didn’t have time to trim my dogs nails now but if I gave her a bath first they could trim the nails after the bath. I told her I thought you are supposed to trim the nails before the bath. She said it’s ok to do the bath first. When I finished bathing the dog I told the cashier I would like to get my dogs nails trimmed now. She said, “you are suppose to trim the nails first and then do the bath.” I said, “that’s what I told the manager.” Just then the manager walked up. I said, “She just told me that you should trim the nails before the bath.” The manager (I don’t know her name but she is a heavy set lady with a lot of tattoos) raised her voice and said, “I am the manager. I know what’s best. I don’t care if you get your dogs nails trimmed or not”. This lady was beyond disgusting in her behavior. This place used to have great staff. I can’t believe they hired this lady as a manager. Disgusting!! I won’t be back.

We booked a 2 hour grooming appointment for our dog, and unfortunately get behind and arrive 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. We said it'd be fine with us if they took 10 mins off the service if it was an issue, but they just refused entirely. The staff told us they had a "15 minute grace period", and that because we were "close to the 15 minutes" they would not take our dog. When I pointed out that we were within the grace period still, they made up new excuses as to why they didn't want to do the work including "well, the first 15 minutes of a visit should be for talking to the owner about the work they want". Really? Isn't that what your staff did when they took the booking over the phone and asked questions about what we wanted? There were 3 staff members there today, with no other customers and no animals in the store, yet they were all too busy and disgruntled to work. The staff had an attitude from the start and it was clear they had no intention of ever doing the grooming. I don't recommend anyone pay for grooming here - they people are just horrible.

I will say that the staff at this location was very friendly and did try to be as helpful as possible. All large dog owners should be aware there is not an easy way to get your dog in the tub. I'm not sure who would ever design it this way but your large dog needs to be lifted into the tub. They offered a ramp but it's narrow, steep, and then a large drop into the tub. A male staff member did come to help me. The shampoo and conditioner are beyond watered down. I would have brought my own but thought they'd offer quality product. The dryer is helpful but doesn't even have low heat so it doesn't actually dry the dog. There are two towels that are cheap motel style/quality which is not near enough for a 90 pound dog. Not the fault of the store but there was another dog being bathed that was completely freaking out thus stressing my dog out. This was such an awful experience and I will never return.

We love Samantha!! We have now visited 3 different locations and have had several different groomers. Most have been good. One wasn’t and skipped part of the premier scrub but with Samantha we can see and smell a difference. My husbands hearing dog usually always smells pretty good since we have to keep her that way but Sam takes her up several levels. She also cuts down on the shedding A LOT so our housekeeper can even tell a difference!! For awhile Taffy stopped liking to go to the groomers but now she’s liking it again with Sam!! I hope she doesn’t leave!!!! This location is so convenient too because you can drop off your dog and then walk down to hallmark to buy this months cards to send out and get breakfast or lunch at champagne bakery. By the time you are done the call or text comes from the groomer!

We've been taking our dogs here for a few years for grooming. We've never had any issues, and the staff has always been great. However, in the last year, things have gone way downhill. I say this with zero exaggeration or hyperbole, the last FIVE straight appointments we've made have been cancelled last minute, and had to be rescheduled. I understand staffing issues happen, so I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Yet, the last time it happened they mentioned in their cancellation text they would "follow up with a phone call to reschedule" and couldn't even extend us that much of a courtesy. It's a shame because Dirty Dogs does quality work, but is so poorly managed, it's not worth the grief anymore. We've since found a mobile groomer who has been outstanding, and at a fraction of the cost.

Update: Klarissa did a great job on my fur baby. She looks so cute and smells so good! She received a cute collar to match her little dress. My old girl is around 13 years old it takes patience and skill to handle an older dog. Thank you Klarissa for making Ms. India look like a diva! Customer service with Maddie was still awesome! Please Note: please make sure to sign up with their reward program. Once you get 300 points you are eligible to start receiving item(s) with your point tier. India received the dog e style package I went in person to set up a grooming appointment. A new associate named Maddie was so friendly and very welcoming. Hopefully I will get her to assist me when I go back. My fur baby goes in for her grooming next week. I will update you with a photo. So far five stars.

I love this store! While it is not as big as Petco/Petsmart it offers exactly what you need.. You do not have to worry about feeding your pet food that has ingredients that just can't be pronounced. The place is a small mom and pop joint so the owners put a lot of care into what products they carry. In addition I brought my puppy here for a bath and they did a magnificent job! It was her first bath, and they were thorough and took the time to explain what she did and some recommendations. I also bought her food here. I had her on some food, which I did not know was making her sicky, but the manager explained to me why this could be happening (saving me a vet bill) and boom she was all better. I would recommend this place the staff are very friendly and their service is amazing. Great job!

We have been going here for about 4 years and we will never want to find another place. Unfortunately, since they are very great at their jobs and were very backed up, we had to go to another place. After going to a different place I am even more grateful for all of the groomers and workers at Dirty Dogs! Our pup was at this other " groomer" for over four hours and they didn't do my pups nails and she looked absolute silly!! Even with Dirty Dogs being very busy and backed up they were super accommodating and allowed my pup to come in the have a quick fix up. Dana was extremely professional and accommodating and I am super grateful for that. There are a ton of other groomers however I will always choose these professional groomers!!

I like coming here to wash my dog (self dog wash) , but... there are some things I wish they would look at.... 1) water temp....to me it's too hot.... dogs aren't going to freeze to death in San Diego, but they can overheat 2) if you say you take customers till 6:30pm and I walk in with a short haired well behaved dog on Friday at 6:27pm..... don't argue with me about "well others can't get their dog washed in 30 minutes". If you don't want to take dogs after 6:27pm, then post that.... but don't change ther rules once I arrived. For the record I finished by 6:50pm. Overall.... love this place..... its just some of the workers clearly leave much to be desired...

They do a reasonable (not great job) of cutting and grooming. The staff that are professional do not make up for the ones that aren’t. The fact that negative reviews are ignored and positive reviews are responded to says it all. I gave two stars for the cut quality but 0 for the customer service which is a by-product of horrific management and ownership. Anyone who takes pride owning a company would not let some of these people work under their brand. Your experience will seem okay until suddenly you realize how bad your dog has been treated the entire time. Save yourself and your beloved pet and just skip this place

I used the self serve dog wash. Employee was prompt and friendly as soon as I walked in the door. They had a nice selection of complimentary shampoos and conditioners. The employee gave me recommendations based on my dogs coat length and color. Clean, easy tub set-up (no stairs or door into the tubs, you’ll have to lift or have them jump up) and a powerful blow dryer. They also have grooming supplies, ear cleaner, and as many towels as you need. The price was very good and the best part is there is no time limit! My dog has long hair so the extra time with the dryer was much appreciated.

I brought my dog in for a haircut with the expectation of the price their employees promised before. Keep in mind I called once to confirm the price and the second time I even bothered to bring my dog in for a price evaluation. Today, I have experienced not only the unprofessionalism and the dishonesty of their untrained employee. She would not change the price even after I told her that I have confirmed the price with this specific store twice. It is not about the differences in price that upsets me. It is the lack of professionalism and incompetent service that angers me.

i always go here to get a DIY bath for my two dogs! today we went in before 10 after taking my dogs to the park. Rachel was super nice along with the other two workers there (i’m very bad with names so i apologize for not remembering) my dogs felt so comfortable before and after getting their baths and Rachel conveniently offered other services as my dog Bosco really needed his nail trimmed. so i’m so happy i got to give him a bath and his nails trimmed all in one visit. We also went home with some tasty treats! thanks Rachel and the rest of the team today!

Love this place and come in at least once a month to bathe my dog and have her nails clipped. Service is always excellent, employees are helpful and friendly, nice shampoo, conditioner and ear cleaning supplies, plus towels are offered. My dog sheds a lot, so I was rinsing the tub after her bath to grab the excess hair - an employee came right over saying I didn't have to clean up - that was included in the cost. Special deal if you bathe and they do the nails and special prices each Tuesday. Great deals on dog food and treats, too with a great selection.

Totally and completely disappointed in this business. Called to have my dog (sheltie) just bathed and towel dried. The woman on the phone quoted me a price of 20.00 dollars for just a bath and towel dry. No other service was expected or discussed. When I arrived at the location the manager said the price was 44.00 dollars and included services I did not want or ask for. Super poor training on the part of management, for the employees. Have 2 dogs that I take at the same time but individually bathe. The new carabiner hooks are a great addition. I attach one dog to it while I bathe the other. My one recommendation is to label the bottles with “S” for shampoo & “C” for conditioner. My shepherd mix knocked both bottles into the tub with her tail & could not tell the difference as they were the same color. Not a big deal but would be a nice touch. The dogs & I always have a great experience thanks to the helpful staff.

Called in to ask about information regarding the self serve bath tubs, and the woman who picked up asked me to hold for a moment. She must have forgotten she had someone on hold AND forgotten to mute the phone as I listened to 5 straight minutes worth of chatting with other customers. I hung up and tried to call back, but the line was busy. She must have left the phone off of the hook, which is now preventing more phone calls.

They provide good thorough baths and brushing, but my dogs nails and ears have been missed multiple times, causing his nails to crack and bleed during walks. This service is supposed to be included in the package I pay for. This place is fantastic, except for those two small inconsistencies that frequently happen with my experience here. I wish I didn't have to double check my dogs feet and ears when I pick him up from here.

Wow. Great dog grooming service for our 9YO German Shephard. Normally when we pick her up from grooming (other places) she is stressed and worn out. She was happy, clean, shiny, looked 2 years younger. Obviously this place has set it up to be great for the dog. The staff was friendly and kind and Lucy was immediately at ease. This was our first time at Dirty Dogs and we will return - maybe even do a self wash of our dog.

Okay you know I do plenty of updates here. So when I went to Carmel Mountain it was actually clean. Like super clean. Rachel, the person in charge of the self wash and check out was absolutely amazing and she is a gem. Please keep her. She is a must-have in your establishment! Only place I go when Jack my Cardigan Welsh Corgi is a Dirty Dog! Update still the best place to take your dogs for a self bath!

I have been here 5 times in the last 6 months hoping it would get better but it has not. Every time i have brought my dog here there are out of something. Hypoallergenic shampoo, oatmeal shampoo, scents, and finally today they were out of towels and after the guy "cleaned" my tub i had to pull someone else's dog hair balls out of the drain to keep it from clogging. Not worth $18 to do it yourself.

Unfortunately, unprofessional staff merit a 1 star review. Laziness and poor customer service will lose business and I hope they can pull it together since we have had helpful employees in the past. We arrived on time and the employee was too lazy to actually work and allow us to wash our on dog in the one bay they had that wasn't dirty because she didn't want to have to clean another bay.

Won't let me write a review without giving any stars. The person is rude, and the way she treats my dog is pathetic. My dog was scared and I am treating to calm her down. That lady was literally dragging her away and shut the door right on my face. I shouldn't have left my dog for grooming with her with I regret. Never ever going there, I rather groom my dog myself at home.

I've been to Dirty Dogs before but my issue with this location is when I went to do a self wash, I ended up not even doing it because it was so hot inside. It didn't feel safe to wash my dog because I was afraid of her overheating. The air was also super stuffy and it was overall not a good experience. There needs to be more ventilation for health reasons.

This is a great place to wash your own dog. The equipment, supplies and staff are first rate. The water is nice and warm, the dryers work great, the soap actually lathers up nicely and the conditioners, ear wash and cologne are there if you need them. They are super helpful and nice people. I drive quite a distance to wash my dogs, but it is worth it.

Am glad to have a store close to home where I can buy raw diet food for my Sheltie. They keep supply high, so I never need to worry about them running out. 4 stars rather than 5 because of high employee turnover. I would prefer seeing the same faces every week & have them remember my dog & me. Sincerely, Susan & Jazz

Two bad experiences at this place and won't wait for there to be a third. First, one groomer totally traumatized our little Rose. Second, just went in there this morning. How about they overbook and when they can't meet the capacity, then try to add to the cost of the grooming service with bogus 'matting' fees.

My absolute favorite place for pet grooming and care. Rachel was extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. Not only did the staff do a superb job of grooming, but I also left with a lot of helpful tips and recommendations for care topics I was not aware of. Highly recommend Dirty Dogs to everyone.

Samantha does a great job with my dog and is so thorough with brushing my fur ball I could have sworn he had a hair cut as I have never been able to de-shed him as well. She takes pride in what she does and my dog always leaves happy and looking his best. Highly recommend.

You guys should hire people to answer the phone, is not nice when putting people on hold and hanging up. TWICE!!! I waited 20 mins for nothing, I know u guys are busy but come on! This is ridiculous! That’s good you guys have business but don’t forget people on the phone.

The staff here were so incredibly helpful. We had a glitch my my first appt but they were so accommodating it all worked out totally fine! My groomer was awesome and finished in an hour so Patron didn’t have to be there all day like my old place! Love this place!!

I love this location so much it's the only place I take my dog nova to be groomed and bathed. The have an amazing selection of treats but nova loves the granola flowers the most. Every one is so sweet there and they don't kennel your dog's unlike other places

I have mixed feelings about this store. In the one hand they trim nails and provide rewards points for money spent. On the other hand my dog freaks out when we go in-- indicating at least one bad experience-- and they raised their prices by nearly half.

Amazing people who do a great job! Best groomer in the area for sure. My dogs shedding and dandruff/itching have almost completely gone away. The only problem I have is, every time I walk my dog over there now he just wants to go in. He loves it there!

Denise and I believe it was Diana were very friendly. Denise asked specific questions on how I wanted Rye cut and made sure I was good with his cut at the end. Great customer service and cut was good. Rye's paws were so white and he smelled great.

This place is awesome. I take my ridiculously large dog there. They always help me lift his 145 lb into the tub. It's great to be able to wash him in the high tub. The staff is always friendly. Great assortment of treats for your dog post bath.

Terrible business. 5 mins past their grace period, I explained my GPS took me to the wrong location and I drove 40 mins to get there. Not only did they refuse to do the service but wanted to charge me for it anyways. Will not be going back

Dog grooming service is a store I really want to recommend. But I think it's a little rude to ask if you want to tip and how much you're going to give. I don't know if it's just me, but I think it would have felt better if I didn't ask.

You can either choose to wash your dogs yourself or you can have their groomers take care of your family pets. My girls have some specific grooming needs and they are more than willing to accommodate and exceptionally good at doing so.

Super clean store with friendly staff. They take great care when handling the dogs, and they make sure to get a clear understanding of what the owner wants before they start services. Great variety of dog food and treats.

Have a difficult service dog so I love the self wash. They do not carry a lot of supplies but you can order for pick up. Groomers are nice but cannot handle difficult dogs that are extremely high drive, but that is okay.

I had just walked in to get my dog groomed and everything! Madison was absolutely amazing with her! Never seen her so happy after a grooming! Definitely coming back here! The staff was absolutely amazing!

They did a fantastic job with my dog. Staff was very helpful and friendly. They always seem to be busy so do yourself a favor and make an appointment. They even text you a reminder, which is helpful.

$100 for a 60 min standard cut, that they can't get right for the past 3 times. Inconsistent, overpriced (prices increases monthly), stop the stupid rewards program and price regular cuts better!!

I got my dog groomed and they cut it exactly the way I wanted it. I also tried the U-do-it wash, and they supplied me with everything I needed. Truly a good place to get your dog cleaned.

Fabulous place to take your dog. They have a very talented groomer that is great with you pup. The self-service dog washing stations are a great addition to the cute items in the store.

Although a bit more expensive than other places I've been, it's well worth it for the great care and detail put into the jobs that they do. My dog always comes back looking amazing.
