Always visit "Discount Dragon" when I stop next door at "Big Al's". Keep in mind that these are two completely different stores that serve the hobby. This store is somewhere that hobbyist should make an extra effort to attend and purchase from loyally. Regardless of a few extra dollars price difference, if any. There is no corporate or franchise backing over here. This is an owned and operated private buisness that counts on its customers support and it shows in their commitment and quality. "DD" is small, friendly, and definitely has a more exotic feel and selection. You will find fish and products not available in mainstream aquarium stores. If you look carefully and closely, you will find exactly the equipment, part or additives that you have been searching for. Personally, I have tanks at home ranging from "fully planted", "community" and "fish only" and have a couple stores that I frequent weekly for supplies, sometimes more. "Discount Dragon" is definitely in my top 3. Recently I purchased a "Short body flowerhorn" from "Discount Dragon", and have never had more fun or been happier with a fish. "Shorty" is super smart, extremely healthy, has a huge perfectly round kok, long perfect fins and eats like an absolute pig!!! Very impressed with the way my wife and I are treated when we visit. Horrible service. The creepy/ socially awkward owner (I assume from the way he acted) insulted me before I had a chance to even give him my money (and I never will). The first time I was there with my girlfriend and he was very pushy and weird, I did not like his vibe. My second time there I went back planning on spending at the very minimum $60... Again right away he was being pushy. Called me cheap because I wouldn't but his stupid theoretical app. Said "Boy, I hope all the younger generation isn't like you..." Oh.. you hope that they all are not able to and happy to spend money in a niche market. I know a few people in this hobby who will never go to this store. This idiot lost at least 4 customers... there are only so many stores, I don't care what selection you may or may not have. No one can afford to insult and alienate customers. Don't waste your time here!

Bought an XL fishbowl from here and as soon as it was filled with room temp, water it begun leaking. I had called and asked if I could be refunded for a faulty product and was told just to bring it in which I did. I was told that I “Needed to check the item before I bought it” and was provided a credit. I was wondering if it was my error, but for 1. Fish bowls should be sturdy enough to hold water… and 2. When I went back to the store to retrieve my $20 credit for a $60 tank, 1 of the other bowls on the merchandise shelf already had a crack in it! I used the $20 to purchase neon tetras and 3 out of 4 of them have warped spines. Didn’t notice until I got home but wasn’t worth my money to go back. Won’t get my business again unfortunately. Stick to next door where accountability will be taken for their products.

The people are nice, though do not know very much about what they are selling. Labelling on tanks/fish is very poor, often incorrect and/or impossible to read. The store is tiny, and service is hard to get, as the employees are typically busy doing other things or get distracted when you are asking for fish and go off to do something else. I purchased 3 Discus from them, and soon found out that they had Hexamitiasis. The 3 died, only after killing my 4 other discus, costing me well over $200, and they have no guarantee on their fish, so a complete loss on my part. Will not be purchasing from them again. Would definitely not recommend purchasing from them, as I'm sure they do not quarantine new fish, and I have often seen ill or dead fish just left in the tanks.

Some of the Dry products are a bit on the expensive side. They have a lot of Uncommon types of fish you typically won't see anywhere else in Mississauga. The live stock appear to be as well as they could be... also there was a comment by a lady complaining her fish had HITH (Hex - Hold in the head syndrome) . If she didnt notice this when she purchased them more than likely it was caused by her tank conditions and general care for the Discus. Anyone who cares for them know 99% of fish carry this parasite and it usually has no effect on the fish unless it has been under poor living conditions. Anyone who has been to this store can clearly see that the fish are in good clean tanks. Like I said great store and great live stock selection , just be prepared to pay .

This place should be shut down for the way they treat their fish and turtles. Big fish crammed into tiny aquariums, sick, injured and blind fish, turtles without adequate basking space. This is the only store I have seen dead turtles floating around the tanks. Some of the staff are helpful, while others will tell you anything to convince you to spend more money buying fish. They do have a great selection of rarer fish, but nothing you can't order at Big Al's. Their prices aren't that great either, pretty much the same as other stores in the area, or more expensive.

I usually go here when I'm at Big Al's. They have great customer service and are all very friendly. The prices for fish are fair - I've gotten larger fish for the same amount of money as Big Al's smaller fish, which makes a different if you have a few fish in your tank that beat up on newcomers. I've found fish that I've never seen at other "chain" aquarium stores here. If you are looking for plants it's not bad either. I tend to buy my filters and food elsewhere though. The store is very tiny, but I go there to buy fish, not walk around.

Has a great selection of unique and healthy monster fish! The staff were very attentive and clearly cared about their fish and the cleanliness of the store. A great place to pick up things like red bellied and black piranhas as well as an amazing section of young and large arowanas. All fish looked well fed and very attentive. Even thought the mostly carry things for monster fish, they also have a great selection of high quality foods and terrestrial plants. Can’t wait to stop by here again!

Best fish store I've ever been to. Good selection of dry goods and live stock. Its a small store but there is no wasted space. Everywhere you look in the store there is something to look at. The isles where the fish are kept is quite intimate, But its something that I look forwards to in a fish store. Good selection of fish and at a reasonable price. Everything that I see is generally healthy, and if not there are meds in the water. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

bad service, we bought some fish that died next day, we thought we went to big al's, wasnt paying attention coming to this place, so we ended up call big al they say we come in they do a test of water give us advice then refund. So we come this store realized we went to the wrong one to begin with, now the store come with all kinds of excuse, refusing to refund or give us advice why the fish died. Terrible terrible service, would sugguest you go elsewhere

Bought fish from this place and they ended up having ICH. For those that don't know ICH is a parasite on the fish that looks like salt. Ended up going to a different aquarium to buy medication for the fish and thankfully they are doing well. Service is not very friendly, the lady is always grilling at customers and the younger larger employee is rude. Fish prices aren't bad but i suggest you go to aquariums with higher quality fish.

This place is amazing. It has a huge selection of very rare fish, I am into piranhas and they always have multiple species(many of them are very rare and hard to attain) that are always fairly priced and in good condition. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone to considers themself a fish enthusiast, or even to anyone who wants to see some amazing fish!

Store is okay…however the moss balls I purchased said $5.99 on the tank, and when the storekeeper pulled them out he decided on the fly that they were big enough to charge me $7.99 instead. They seem to be good quality but that felt a bit shady. Most of their fish seem healthy but there are a handful in really rough shape, that’s why I decided to stick to only plants for my purchase.

Great store, have been dealing with Andrew and he has given me some awesome advice on how to keep my saltwater alive and it has been doing great. Best selection of designer clown fish in the GTA. Got my Gold Nugget Maroon Clown from there and he is awesome. Never had any trouble with their live stock, you just need to make sure you know what you are buying and ask questions.

This is my go to store for any of my aquarium needs. The staff are always very helpful and friendly and many times have guided me when I have a problem with a certain fish or my aquarium in general. They have a beautiful variety of fish, sometimes I just go to look at them. They also carry some very nice potted plants and lucky bamboo which my aquatic frogs love!!

Good price and wide selection of fish, plants, inverts despite being a small size shop. I was really happy the owner decided to sell the goby and the shrimp together knowing they have bonded together and are good friends and didn't wanted to separate them since they're the only pair left.

I visited and bought fish and stuff and the price is half than other shops,discount dragon is far better so dont go for advertise of other where you feel impact on your wallet but here in discount dragon,you will get genuine price of fish and products,I definitely recommend this shop !!

Great place for rare oddball fishes. Never had any major issues with fishes. They treat new fish with salt, which is a bonus. Nice family own store with really good prices. Weekends can be diffifcult if theres a large crowd due to small narrow ailes. Id recommend on weekdays.

Great selection of plants, aquarium plants, puffers, discuss and angle fish. They have some unique fish that not all stores do. Puffer and angle fish prices are fair. Other fish are decently priced. Store is a bit small, lots of parking. Employees are nice and helpful.

The place is famous for exotic rare tropical acqurium fish and reptiles. The staff is very knowledgeable. Only negative aspects here is one would wonder if the fish is healthy and happy. There is not much choice in acqurium live plants compared to competitors nearby.

Was there for the second time yesterday and came home with 2 P. Lapradei(bichirs). This store has the fish that you want but otherwise can't find. It's an independent store and you can really tell they take pride in their business. Amazing

Honestly Andrew is an amazing guys and he actually cares about the fish but the owners of the store are a joke. I have purchased 200$ worth of fish from them (blue tang and 2spot bristle tooth tang) and I have had my new tank set cycling

Half the store is tanks, but the tanks all have plastic separating the fish. The poor fish were jammed into tanks some the fish were so big they could bearly swim.
