I visited the store earlier in the week and the two ladies and the gentleman that were in the store were pleasant. I was quite pleased with the two ladies who helped fit my puppy for winter boots. My dog did not yelp or show any aggression towards the two ladies. One of the ladies even took pictures and I shot a video of the moment which I posted to all of my social media. Today I went back to the store because I felt the boots were too tight on my puppy’s ankles and wanted to make sure that they were the correct size for him. This time I got a different associate, and I found her dimeanor condescending and insensitive. She tried putting on the boots and I heard my dog Yelp. I told her she was hurting my dog and she in a snotty tone told me that most dogs do not like putting on boots. She thought she was an expert on my dog’s personality but I should know my dog since I spend a considerable amount of time with him. I told her he did not respond in this manner with her two colleagues in the week. She continued to put the boots and yelled again and I told her again she was hurting my dog. This time I was upset when she challenged my perception of what was happening. I could tell by his tone that he was hurt. He did not do this with the previous two women who fitted him in the week. Nor did he yelp when I had to put them or take them off in the week. At one point the associate tried to pet him and he growled at her. I said, that’s strange. And she responded, maybe he doesn’t like to be touched (snotty tone/ sarcasm). Here are my thoughts... Firstly, my dog is a registered support dog. Two, there are many pictures of my dog on social media (taken by tourists) In the USA and he displays a good temperament with strangers Thirdly, I’ve visited many pet stores in Florida, Pennsylvania, (PetSmart, petsupermarket, designer boutiques stores) and never have I seen my dog, growl, yelp or be uncomfortable around strangers. He’s also great with the vet. Great with grooming too! I was going to buy him a pet bed but when I heard her and her associate talking behind the counter, it turned me off I instead bought pet food. There was no way I wanted to spend a lot of money in that store. It was an uncomfortable experience being there. I explained to the two women tudat that I would never return to their store . And they listened and said ok. The energy I got was “we don’t need your business anyway.” I then visited PetSmart, petvalue and Tail Blazers at the Heart land Centre and I had absolutely no problem. It was the positive experience that my puppy and I were used to. I bought a pair of booties from tailblazers. Btw I’d love to post that video on here of the two employees from petvalue who worked with my puppy earlier in the week. To the employee today, Maybe you could be a little bit more like your two colleagues. For now, you can count on that my family and my friends will not be shopping at your location

Solely based on the Self Dog Wash Saw the Pet Valu video Ad. Visited this pet store to test out thier dog wash. Boy, it was extremely disappointing. Paid $10 for watered down shampoo, and two towels. We paided before we started we washing our dog. The lady didnt explain anything to us about the shampoo, how to use the wash or anything. All she told us was that were only allowed to use the wash for 30 mins and anything over that would be charged. Additionally, if you use more than two towels you will also be charged. The place looks nice and clean and all. But there are several problems with this dog wash. 1: Store employee uninformation and unattentive 2: Shampoo is all watered down, and put into reuseable water bottles. There are two types of shampoo but there are no labels on it. They have puppy shampoo and adult dog shampoo. 3. There was no conditioner 4. The water was really weak 5. The towels were stiff and very thin. Two towels were barely enough for my small dog. 6. The blow dryer blew out cold air. This took a really long time to dry. My dog started shaking so we ended up bringing him home to blow dry instead. Overall, not worth it. Disappointed by the experience. I was expecting the products that they advertised in their video to be available at the bath but they didnt have much products. (ie. Shampoo, Conditioner). They did have some sprays and combs though. But I would not receommed this place because of the lack of quality and products. For the same price you might as well go to petsmart....

I've been coming to Pet Valu for a while now since it's so close to home. I love the atmosphere and look of the store. It has a more "home" feel than if you would go to Petsmart which feels like a huge corporate just trying to get your money. The staff have always been super helpful and friendly. You can tell they really love their jobs and working with pets! I booked my first grooming appointment with my dog (Chow Chow) and it couldn't have gone better. I was scared that my dog would give them a hard time because PetSmart will no longer groom him because of his "behaviour". So right before my appointment at PetValu, I gave the groomer a heads up that my dog might growl/bark because that's what I was told from PetSmart. I bought a bag of treats for her to give him throughout the grooming appointment to calm him down just in case. When I came to pick him up 3 hours later, she had nothing but good things to say! He didn't bark or growl at all, and didn't need to be muzzled. She only gave him treats at the end because he was well behaved throughout the whole appointment. I guess all his previous bad behaviour just came because he didn't have a gentle groomer? Either way, I have found my new groomer at PetValu!! (The price is much more affordable too!). Definitely recommend coming to this store. They also host a lot of events throughout the year, and have kittens/cats up for adoption.

This store is hosting an event with a company called Hands on Exotics. They are capitalizing on the confinement of wild animals. The name "hands on" certainly gives the impression that the wildlife they bring are to be petted and handled. How it this for the benefit of the wildlife? They claim these are former exotic pets but how is this situation an improvement?? I made a comment on the Pet Valu Facebook page and they deleted it and blocked me. While they are raising money for a cat rescue group, they would be better off taking the fee they paid to Hands on Exotics and donating it directly to the cat rescue. How about entering the 21st Century Pet Valu. Animal lovers don't support circuses, marine parks or zoos any more. Some of the comments on their Facebook page asked if the food offered up would be veggie? If you don't want to eat an animal they why on earth would you want them to be caged and put out on display? I am NOT going to this event nor will I shop at Pet Valu any more. Shame on you for deleting negative comments too!! Some people are dumb enough to think you care about pets when it appears as if all you care about is money.

I came in for a nail trim for my puppy, unfortunately, by nature, when he is fearful he gets aggressive. Instead of trying to calm my dog down, Parina or Parnia, whatever her name is, told me to muzzle my dog myself. She wanted me to do her job for her, and was very demeaning towards me because my dog was aggressive. She told me to see the other groomer, Sandra, who I visited last and she was great with my dog and only used a blanket, not a muzzle. Parina’s rude attitude was so uncalled for and I felt like she undermined me as a pet owner. To be in her profession as a dog groomer, she needs to learn how to deal with aggressive dogs because most dogs do not like getting their nails trimmed. She should find another profession if she can’t do hers right. Save yourself a trip, and see Sandra instead, she is super nice and actually knows how to handle dogs of all kinds of temperament.

This location often has what I need for my cats and dogs. However, variety seems to be lacking in terms of the sizing of some food products. I was told previously that they don't carry a larger size of a particular brand of cat food, although it is available at other pet stores. It's a shame, as this Pet Valu is the most convenient pet store for me. When it comes down to it, I continue to return to this location purely because of convenience. Some staff members are kind and friendly, and you can tell they are genuinely interested in helping you out. Unfortunately, I've encountered some fairly rude staff who make you feel as if they just want you out of the store, as quickly as possible. I would recommend this place if you're looking for something quick to give/use for your pet, but otherwise, I'd go elsewhere.

Such a nice place!Pleasant staff,good products,happy and healthy pets.I adopted my first cat Tyra there,and they said she was really shy,and would probably hide for the first few weeks.They were right.But she quickly caught on.After a few months,I(and no one else in the family)could pet her and sit next to her(once again,I and no one else).She does a lot of exploring around the house,especially at night.She now owns the first floor.Seriously!She hides behind the piano,looks outside the windows,sleeps on the couch,lays on her favorite chair,eats in a corner,uses the bathroom as a bathroom(because her litter box is there).I love her,and I really couldn’t have chosen a better cat.They staff even said I could bring her back on Saturdays so they could trim her nails for only 10 dollars.I highly recommend Pet Valu!

Very rude customer service. First off with the lady that checked us out. Think her name was Mena. We went to wash our dog at the self serve dog wash, went to the counter to pay for it. Greeted with an unfriendly lady. Following, we went and washed our dog, then looked at the cat section. As we were walking out an even ruder lady stops us from behind and asks if we paid for the dog wash? Why would we walk into the dog wash, then leave without paying? Also, my receipt was in my hand. Not to mention the dog wash isn’t as good as other pet valus we’ve been to. It felt personal she thought WE didnt pay for a $10 dog wash. Very offended, would give 0 stars if I could.

I will never go back to this store ever again so long as the East Indian lady who worked at the front desk on Tuesday July 25th 2023 at 3pm is not there. She was extremely rude to me ! She rudely told me there weren't any cats in the cage for adoption, and watched me like a hawk in the store as if I was going to steal something. Which I ended up buying something actually . I got the impression as if I was an annoyance to her. I love my cat, I love animals, I love buying things for my cat from the store and I was in a happy mood until it took this one person to ruin my time. She should focus on being more positive instead of being miserable to customers.

Staff here are super friendly and knowledgeable! I always bring my bad boy here and he is always welcomed with open arms, even if we're just coming in for a treat (he gets his nails cut there so I bring him in to let him know that it's not a bad place). Sandra, who trims my dog's nails, is SOOOO patient with my beagle. She's one of the greatest staff members of this place! My dog was so terrified of getting his nails trimmed when we went to Petsmart but at this place, he's a little nervous but nowhere near as fearful as he was before. I go to this location all the time, and I would highly recommend this place!

Rude owner. I went there to use the dog wash. My dog has degenerative disease and she’s 13 years old. Therefore took more than 30 mins because I have to be really careful with her. I’m willing to pay $20 since it’s $10 for 30mins. The owner looked pissed off and approached me to complain how much he has to pay for the hydro and to hurry up! What a rude and insensitive grumpy old man towards animals! Shame on you! In addition, I always buy something too. I’m never going there again! The worst experience I had to face at a pet valu. Other than that, the rest of the staff are kind.

We're regulars at this store and have always received exceptional service on all our visits. I would like to commend Ms. Courtney I met at the store with both toy poodles a couple weeks ago. We got very good advice and suggestions for our 15yr old as well as our very new addition 5mth old pets. Courtney was unhurried, offered good choices and made well informed recommendations as well. I highly recommend this store for its cleanliness, attentive and well informed staff. If you see Courtney, tell her about your pet and what you need. You'll be well served.

I usually go to the pet valu at Mavis and Dundas and love that place. I needed some food for my dog and happened to be in the same plaza as this one so thought I'd buy from this store. Not sure about other brands but on Big Country Raw they have marked up all products by a dollar or two. When I checked with the staff the response wasn't very encouraging and they weren't really willing to explain the mark up. Its surprising how the same chain in the same city can have different prices with no reasonable explanation.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the owners and people who work at this location. We adopted a cat from them a year ago, and this year when we adopted a dog, we literally drove straight to Pet Valu. The girls helped us get everything we needed, showed us how to give him a bath, and answered all of our silly questions. When I returned to get more stuff, they gave me advice on everything from toys to how to socialize King with other dogs. They really care about their customers and it shows!

I went in the store today, looking for bully sticks for my puppy. A lady recommended another brand, since they ran out of bully sticks. My puppy takes DAYS to chew a bully stick. Literally in 30 seconds this recommended brand was gone. I feel like I just gave $30 away to petvalu for 10 sticks that will be eaten like a treat, because I was misguided by an employee. Now here I am spending $30 more on amazon and 12 bully sticks ended up costing me $60 because of this.

Love this location. They are always so nice, friendly and helpful. Good selection of catfood treats and toys (of course they have for other animals too but I can only knowledgeably speak about what I need to buy). Only place I know that sells the cat grass my cats like. They do dog grooming, animal nail trimming and they have different charities come in (at least before covid)with adoptable pets; experts that talk about certain products and fun raffles.

Good store, great location and great staff. I prefer this place over huge big box pet stores. They have everything you need in a small convenient place. Easy shopping going in and out quickly. Prices are very competitive and really good when they hold sales. I have also used their grooming services and they are very good. Easy to make appointments and they have fair prices. Would definitely recommend their services.

I work at a pet valu distribution centre and this was my first vist at an actual pet valu store. I have got to say all the products were showcased very neatly. You can find different products catogarized in their aisles. I was looking for 'crazy cat lady' mug and I found it instantaneously by looking at where the mugs were. The cashier was very polite and helpful. Nice place.

Absolute abhorrent service. Generally when speaking with somebody working at a pet store you see passion and love in the topics and in the conversations. These individuals just seem heartless and I could definitely see them not even owning a pet of their own. I would strongly recommend going to another store for any needs that you would have as you would leave disappointed.

Molly and I love this store! The owners and staff are friendly, caring and informative! We have used the self serve dog wash many times! Bathing a young boxer puppy is not an easy task but they make it so easy! They have everything from aprons for the humans and treats for the doggies! Thank you for all that you do! We always look forward to our shopping adventures!

I bring my pup here to get her nails trimmed and the lady that does it is awsome! My dog is a rescue and doesnt like being touched by strangers, especially her feet! The lady worked around her to make her more comfortable. She was super quick but efficient! I will always take my pup here for her nail trims.

Parnia has been taking care of my dog for years and years. She is great. She is super professional, capable, and of course she super lovely with my scared dog. I recently brought my dog in for a grooming and had a great experience! Parnia was very friendly and helpful. I gave her free reign to cut the dog how she saw fit and she did an excellent job! When I picked my dog up he looked silky and smooth! Would definitely recommend.

Ken, Kim and their staff are wonderful help when it comes to questions about pet needs. The store is clean and well maintained and the animals that live there or pass through for adoption are given enough love and care to help them on their way to their permanent home.

This location is super close by so it’s great when I’m in a pinch and need some cat food. The staff are friendly and give good recommendations, I knocked off a star because prices can be steep when compared to other pet stores. PS: The two resident cats are adorable!

Today as soon as I parked in front of the store, Ken came out and offered assistance. He got my order done in no time and I was on my way less that 5 minutes. He was very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this place. Keep up the good work.

Whether we visit the store in person or use their extremely convenient local delivery service we always get the exact products we need along with great advice when needed. Both the friendly people and resident pets there are an added bonus :)

The staff here were so helpful. I brought a new kitten home a week ago and only had a week to stock up and prepare. They let me know what i did not really need and gave helpful advice on feeding schedules and how to determine quality foods

They are knowledgeable and have a small town kinda feel even though though they are located in Mississauga. They always do their best to answer my questions or find the answers and get back to me. Love this store.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Prices could be more competitive but largely shop here because of the better selection and close proximity. Also have weekly pet services like nail grooming which is handy.

Was told that doggy wash was until 9 and 8:30 latest time and we went in at 8:05 pm and were told that it's too late... Other than that, the place is always welcoming and nice but missing raw food often.

Come here for grooming if you want your pet to be miss treated and hurt. They injure your pets and take no ownership for wrongdoings. If you care about your animal take it elsewhere!

Brown girl in the front was very sweet and super helpful... Unfortunately did not get her name. She was very knowledgeable and helped me figure out the best dog food for my shepherd.

So far only this place has self wash space for your dog . I live in the condo and washing my dog in bathtub isn't fun job to do. It's $10 And I think your 10th or 11th wash is free.
