"I have been going here for many years and prior to the pandemic everything was great but something happened during the pandemic that changed with the pan dulce and it wasn't for the good the conchas are no longer nice and fluffy and I'm sad, seems like maybe they lost the baker"
"The bread here is baked fresh daily, and it is delicious"
El Fenix Bakery has a wonderful location in beautiful South Phoenix. Family owned and operated for many year's, It offer's the best in Mexican pastrie's as well as other types of exciting goodies to consume. Homemade recipes is what El Fenix Bakery is all about adding its unique flavor with its mouth watering sweet bread, cookies and pies . Cochito's are my favorite , I always bring home extra to have with my coffee in the morning or for lunch. The Red and Green chili burritos are quite tasty as well as the tamales ,yum for your tum is all I can say. Stacks of delicious homemade tortillas just like your your mother used to make. If you wish ,you may dine inside or outside and enjoy the most exquisite South mountains peak's that God almighty has provided for you. We are very fortunate to have El Fenix Bakery serving our community with very delicious homemade recipes and a quaint food market for your family. Quite inexpensive and affordable. The staff are very cheerful and knowledgeable regarding your request's . I highly recommend El Fenix Bakery for the entire family . Wolfgang S. Marconi
Very unhappy with is place!!! Send my husband to buy menudo and it was menudo from a CAN!!!!!!! Tasted horrible I usually don’t buy menudo I always make it myself but I decided to try from this place... plus the cashier was so rude to my husband he ask for more cilantro and onion and said no is only one per order even though my husband order two orders.... what a horrible menudo not sure how places like this are still open!!!! Will neverrrrrrr buy from this place ever again thanks!!!!!!
This is a Mexican Panaderia. They are known for their fresh, sweet bread and Menudo on the weekends. The light rail construction is really taking a toll on their business. Don't be deterred by all of the construction barriers. Try thier Cochinitos to go with your favorite coffee.

I have been going here for many years and prior to the pandemic everything was great but something happened during the pandemic that changed with the pan dulce and it wasn't for the good the conchas are no longer nice and fluffy and I'm sad, seems like maybe they lost the baker. I'm afraid I will no longer make that drive to south Phoenix. I hope they bring back what they had that made them great.
The bread here is baked fresh daily, and it is delicious. Next time I go I will update with a review of the fresh hot dishes. This time I got bolios and pan dulce. It was sweet but not rich, just the way it should be. Highly recommend, one of the best places to get chonchas, galletas, elotitos, empanadas de pina y calabacita, and more.
There should be a law against selling 6 week old tortillas as "fresh". Even my pink cookies tasted like they had been sitting there for several weeks. I have gone there for years but not any longer, too many other places to choose from
Great Menudo! I come here for the sweet bread, but since I saw they had menudo I decided to try it out. Very flavorful, they gave us the toppings in a bag with lime and toasted bread on the side. Very delicious ! …
So they have a big sign on the window Saying that they sell tamales so I purchased some and believe me they Were one of the worst tamales I have ever had in my life their big but they have no meat in them.
You can go late morning and get fresh bread out of the oven very authentic , this has survived many years, originally was on 9 street and Jefferson family owned by the Sanchez family since 1967 ..
Got a few different items. All of them were good, but the orejas were by far the best. They compare favorably to traditional French palmiers I used to get back home in New Orleans.
I went today because I was craving sweet bread and it was disgusting the bread was hard as a rock and tasted stale and awful, I had to throw it away. Never going back. …
There Mexican pastries are delicious very authentic and the menudo is homemade very delicious. I have been going there so many years with my family since I was a little girl.
Fantastic empanadas and conchas! Sweet, sweet lady who helped us, as well. Reminds me so much of the old school South Texas panerias I grew up with--we will be back!
I just went today to get some bread for my kids, and when I opened the bag it was already green,it was bolillo,so I will never go back to this location.
Wonderful place the menudo is absolutely amazing everytime I go I feel like I'm being fed by family just make sure to bring your own pot!
Nothing here..tamales are cold and must take home to warm up..no meat for anything to make burritos or tacos sweetbreads very few choices
I went there to buy capirotada. It turned out not so good. It was disappointing, no cheese, no nuts. Just bread soaked with brown sugar.
This place has really fallen from back in the day should of just got closed down long ago I suppose

Teresa es muy simpática y muy servicial, el pan nuevo delicioso y la masa para los tamales esta muy buena, a pesar que es maseca.
I buy my masa here. Always have for past 12 years. I pay more, but it's worth it. Menudo is number 1. There tamales are great.
Have been going to this bakery since I was a lil girl love their menudo and loaf bread after church is always my Sundays
I only buy from here sweet bread "pan dulce " because is fresh, every day afternoon bread comes out of the oven.
Good tortillas. Rest of the stuff is candy/pastries, so it's probably good if you're looking for sweets.
Este pan esta bien hecho y muy sabroso , y no se compara con El pan del food City o ranch market,
This bakery has been the spot we go get our menudo since I was a baby and that was 24 years ago .
The red chile con carne was quite delicious. It took my craving away …
A lot of choices on pan dulce I will be coming back! There empanadas are awesome
