"Significant improvements have been made over the last couple of years"
"After 4 weeks of trying I managed to get an appointment in 4 months time to register the birth of my twin boys"
"I gave birth to my son on the 17th of May and I wanted to register him as a Greek (common sense but not for the embassy workers) so he can have his passport and travel to Greece this summer meeting his family"
"The service was amazing , I went today 28/3/2022 to register my son to greek authority, I had appointment that I booked around 2-3 months ago, (every Friday at 12:00 there is socket to book appointment, this bs saying they cannot book appointment they just lying, I book both for kid registration and passport, they just talking bad because probably they online very early or late but even in the instructions it's saying every Friday at 12:00) I walked to embassy and in the time of my appointment my name was show in the lobby and I went to office number 2, the lady who serve me was very serious not gentle BUT she told me to go and sit in the lobby as long she will prepare my documents and I will need just to go and pay so after around 10-15 min in the lobby my name was shown again to go and pay , after I paid I went back to office number 2 the lady told me to verify if all the I formations was correct and after I confirm she gave me the document and told me congratulations for your son, the moment she told me that I realised she's a great woman and very professional"
"For a passport renewal I cannot fault the service, the process was modern and efficient: - I had to book an online appointment well in advance, but the option to book an appointment was there (previously you needed to either have a connection on the inside or try attempting communication through various odd means)"
Significant improvements have been made over the last couple of years. There is an improved reception area with three service desks, a self-service screen (?) and a seperate desk for payments which accepts card payments! There is even posh eclectic music (not my taste but still good)! Staff are polite and go the extra mile. The service is good although extremely slow to start with; my appointment had a wait time of 45mins last time I visited them in January 2023. My appointment for a power of attorney was handled promptly and professionally (within 20mins) possibly to recoup some of the time. There is display screen with visitors' names which is somewhat helpful. It would have been better if they could install a small tone or even better call out names (more inclusive for visually impaired) to alert you instead of constantly looking at the screen - it doesn't have to be too loud, just enough to warn people, or linked to Retekess/LRS paging/calling system with buzzers (these cost only £250). Chairs and table could be better positioned at the reception to make it look a bit more organised (that's free!). Oh, and please remove these rather silly photocopied signs 'Use of mobile phones is prohibited' *LOL*. Everyone was on the phone, myself included. What are you expecting people to do for 45 minutes? Availability for appointments is still a rarety and it's like winning a lottery ticket when managing to book one. Before my appointment I tried phoning the embassy - there is a VERY long pre-recorded message and I didn't manage to connect to anyone in the end. I sent an email instead and that was answered by Mr Gavallas the same day within a few hours - I was genuinely impressed.
After 4 weeks of trying I managed to get an appointment in 4 months time to register the birth of my twin boys. I emailed the embassy to ask if I need 2 separate appointments or one and they confirmed after 3-4 days that 1 is fine. I turned up on time for my 11 o'clock appointment and I was waiting for 1 hr (!!!) to be called in. The lady who checked my papers was extremely rude and told me off because the process to register children from an unmarried mother and a British father is too bureaucratic and I should have considered that before coming to the embassy!!!.i wanted to get back home ASAP and I didn't want to start an argument so I told her that this is my choice, there is a legal process defined and documented in their website and I have all the paperwork so let's proceed. Her response... "with that attitude you will stay unmarried for a long time!!" She then spent 2 hours trying to register my children and kept asking her colleagues questions as she was learning on the job from what I gathered. At the end, she gave me the certificates and told me that I should have known this will take a lot of time (?!?!?) and book 2 appointments regardless of what their own customer service rep told me (!!!). I explained that even if I did that the appt would be on different dates as they get reserved online quickly and it would be challenging to get a nanny again.her response.... "if there is a will there is a way."... Needless to say, i am looking at filing a formal complaint. This is appalling customer service from someone who was too lazy to do their job. One of her colleagues witnessed that and apologised on her behalf. apparently this is typical of that person.
I gave birth to my son on the 17th of May and I wanted to register him as a Greek (common sense but not for the embassy workers) so he can have his passport and travel to Greece this summer meeting his family. I stupidly thought I would resolve this matter into one or two months but I found out that the next available appointment for his registration is on November! So I wrote them several emails being tough (that's true) saying that other embassies like the Spanish one gives you the passport in less than a month and as a nation EVENTUALLY we should follow bright examples and stop living under the stones!!! A "lady" called my number (i forgot her name but she told me she is the responsible person for the registration appointments - and that is the explanation behind all this disgraceful situation) and for one minute I thought she called me to help me find a solution (as Scottish case workers do). Instead, she was really rude, speaking to me in singular, telling me that if we want available appointments we shouldn't have given birth all of us at the same time like the cows and if I don't like the procedure I should have had him in Greece and more s@#£t like that and in the future if I need "help" I should have known better!!! What a miserable little woman who hates her life and her job! What a great representative of the Greek incapacity!!! Only Anna Kafuka is a great example in this mess called Greek f£####£g Embassy! I registered my son as a Spanish because of his father and into three weeks we had the passport. Now we are in Greece. Karma on its best
The service was amazing , I went today 28/3/2022 to register my son to greek authority, I had appointment that I booked around 2-3 months ago, (every Friday at 12:00 there is socket to book appointment, this bs saying they cannot book appointment they just lying, I book both for kid registration and passport, they just talking bad because probably they online very early or late but even in the instructions it's saying every Friday at 12:00) I walked to embassy and in the time of my appointment my name was show in the lobby and I went to office number 2, the lady who serve me was very serious not gentle BUT she told me to go and sit in the lobby as long she will prepare my documents and I will need just to go and pay so after around 10-15 min in the lobby my name was shown again to go and pay , after I paid I went back to office number 2 the lady told me to verify if all the I formations was correct and after I confirm she gave me the document and told me congratulations for your son, the moment she told me that I realised she's a great woman and very professional. So service of Greek embassy A+++ , the lady who serve me A+++. Any other comment about rudeness or booking appointment issues are just lazy peoples who are sad with their life and try to blame everyone else. By the way the only negative that I have to admit is that there is no way for wheelchair to go inside from main entrance, but I dont know if there is entrance from garage with lift, I didnt really check it .
For a passport renewal I cannot fault the service, the process was modern and efficient: - I had to book an online appointment well in advance, but the option to book an appointment was there (previously you needed to either have a connection on the inside or try attempting communication through various odd means). - Before the appointment date I received email notifications reminding me of my appointment. - Upon arrival at the embassy there was a receptionist who made you aware what the next steps were (Note: as at Nov 2021 make sure you pitch up with a mask otherwise they'll send you away to get one). - Consular staff then handled the next steps and payment in a straightforward fashion. (Note: In the past there were all sorts of fascinating hurdles you had to jump through to progress your application). Notes: Have cash on you, they don't accept card payments. Passport photos are a bit of a contentious point - you can walk 20 mins to the local Snappy Snaps photo studio and they'll charge you £19.99 that will definitely pass scrutiny of the Greek authorities OR you can risk going elsewhere and pay a bit less but risk the photos not passing muster. I think £20 for passport photos is price gauging to a captive audience. I have complained but when you're desperate... I cannot comment on other Consular Services...
This positive review is for Anna Nikoleta went to apply for my child's first passport, she was so polite and attended to us in a timely manner. Professional and all smiles. Made my child feel at ease. I do understand alot of Greeks are now living in the UK and they need to attend to all. They are doing their best but still more needs to be done. Especially with the booking system and with the calls/emails. With the booking system if you blink you lose all the appointments for the day !! Next week again and that is if, you are able to book one !! All the appointments slots are fully booked in less than 5 minutes!!! Plus if you have multiple kids you need to book for each child separately can you imagine if you book for one and unable to book for the others until after few weeks or months?! I can't imagine if you had to urgently travel to Greece and need to renew yours and your kids passports ! Because all the slots have been taken? Also not everyone lives in London some come for different parts and they have a train to catch. I have missed my train twice because they delayed me . They need to do better!! Sometimes I had to email them every other day until they respond to my emails and they never pick calls!!
Good morning to you, I have been trying to get an appointment for a renewal of passport since end of last year and always it is "Zero appointments". I have sent e-mails to be told to join the emergency appointment service and be notified when one is available. I have been renewing the emergency service every two weeks, but in two months I have been emailed twice regarding an availability and within seconds the appointment was taken!!!! I know there are thousands in the same situation with me!! I am a vulnerable pensioner, cannot travel to Greece to sort out my passport there due to Covit19 uncertainties, no close family alive in Greece and I cannot manage it financially (hotel 2-3 weeks??)... so I am in so much stress and so disappointed that our Greek Embassy in London cannot help the Greek citizens living in this country. Is the passport office so fully booked for months, years in advanced?? We use to be able to get an appointment months in advance before, why this service has been blocked? We don't even get a chance to see 4-6 months ahead anymore.... Has any one managed to get through the ordinary appointment system and how? Thank you...(sorry for the long letter!) Despina
I am amazed by the quality of the service provided, and I would like to thank in particular Mr Ilias Kolofwtias for his help in dealing with my case. All my communication requests (numerous emails) were dealt with very fast and answered dilligently and in great detail. All contacts were extremely polite and during my visit there I was treated in a very friendly manner by everyone. Waiting times at the appointment were minimal and the directions given are very clear. Most importantly, I was afforded great flexibility (given an appointment out of the regular schedule, since otherwise I would miss a critical deadline for my case), which is very unusual for the Greek public sector. Mr Kolofwtias has taken personal interest in my case and helped me figure out the best course of action for closing it successfully. The website is also very informative and easy to navigate. All in all, the Greek consulate in London is a model of how any public service should work. I would award 10 stars if I could! :) P.S.: A good further improvement would be to provide the possibility of telco meetings for a greater spectrum of issues than currently, as trips to the consulate can be very expensive.
Was there today for passport application. My picture was rejected through not fault of the embassy. They send me to a different place at Notting hill to have my picture taken and I was be able to keep my appointment running while I was doing that. All good in the end application was submitted and left very satisfied with the overall service I received. All personnel I dealt with was polite and gone the extra mile to help me and explain things. It was an excellent experience throughout. I don’t understand what other people saying here … and I understand things don’t go to plan some times but I don’t think it’s the embassy to blame if people are unprepared. Also I understand people with negative experience come here to post a review but not many people with good experience bother to leave a positive review. BUT I WILL as I think they are superb very helpful and gone the extra mile. Also the overall atmosphere in the embassy was good and finally it feels like a place I can visit again without be afraid and stressed out. Well done guys and ladies in the Greek embassy… keep up the good work and thank you .
Forget booking a holiday to Greece if you require a holiday Visa. The booking online system does not work and we tried for over 2 months to book an appointment. When you call VSF global they say the embassy have not released any dates. When the dates go on website they tell you need an OTP code that does not work. The call centre is in India and when you call to book an appointment or to report issues you get charged as the line is not free. They then tell you there is no apppintments. Our holiday is in April they are saying there is no apppintments so we have lost out ticket and hotel booking and there has been so many other financial implications. They can do something about it but have chosen not to as the call centre is in India they have strict instructions to not give appointments. We have 5 weeks until our holiday and everything is lost because of an appointment they have said we can book 3 weeks before departure. Buying a holiday to Greece was the biggest mistake for us. A very sad and emotional experience for us. Please save yourself the stress and most importantly your money.
Rude and unprofessional manners, threatening and shouting to citizens that will cancel their application just because they decided. The problem is that they always have an excuse for anything. There are no technical specs for the pictures online, so we can recognize if the purchased ones are correct, there isn’t any system online that can identify if the photos are accurate as the British, Chinese, or the USA system has. Only last minute, rejecting the images and requesting new ones. Miss Anna Kafouka didn't seem to understand the costs involved, had no respect, and only responded with the rudest (laughing at my face), entirely arrogant comments, and unprofessional ways. When I confronted her about her behavior, she had the nerve to bully me, saying that she would cancel my passport application by raising her voice at me—wondering if she had ever done any customer service training as a Greek public servant. Without skills, they should return to Greece, where these manners are accepted, because here in London, we have zero tolerance for arrogant public servants.
Applied for Schengen for my wife on 13 Oct for a long weekend in Greece with a perfect application (6 weeks before our trip). Paid for flights, hotel, various reservations, and planned everything precisely. Documents were complete the first time, and didn't receive any request for evidence. We're both working professionals in UK with no reason to move elsewhere, with good proof of savings so I was sure we were fine. Flight was scheduled for 19 Nov and week after week, still no response from the embassy. 5 days before our trip, we were so anxious and repeatedly contacted the embassy for an update with no response. It was infuriating. Finally the day before our trip we got an email to collect the passport. How long is the Schengen valid for? We find it's entirely REFUSED with NO clear justification. After such long processing time with zero communication. Absolutely waste of money and time, wasted near GBP700. Absolutely horrendous service, utterly incompetent. Never applying for Greece again.
Me and my partner booked an appointment on Friday the 25th of June 2021 to renew our passports on Tuesday the 29th of June 2021. One has to be really fast to find an appointment a couple of days later but it is certainly doable. We arrived on time and the staff at the front desk were too friendly and willing to answer any question we had. We had been both accepted to meet an employee a few minutes later to start the application process (less than 10 minutes waiting time). We both finished the process after 20 minutes and paid a few minutes later. We are very happy with the staff experience and kindness and how fast the whole passport renewal process was completed. It is a pain to get an additional day off to travel from Northern England to London to collect the new passports, but it is certainly not the fault of the Embassy staff rather than a process issue that has to be addressed by the Greek government in the future. Thanks a lot for your great service!
5 stars for the staff at the embassy. They are very friendly and really try to help. There are now a very large number of Greeks in London and the embassy remains understaffed. There needs to be an increase of the number of staff serving citizens corresponding to the increase of the Greek population in the UK in recent years. The one thing that really needs fixing is the online booking system for appointments. Even the recent update suffers from the same basic problem: - I have to log in every week at a specific time and hope that I click fast enough to get an appointment. This is ridiculous. It's like I am buying concert tickets from ticketmaster. - Please just let me book an appointment even if it is 6 months in the future. Most people would be OK with this I think. - Worried that people will just book and not show? Charge a refundable amount for future bookings. If you don't show up and don't call to cancel you lose the fee.
Excellent experience throughout the passport application procedure. The booking system was super easy with many appointments available. The pre-appointment service was excellent with an email reminder sent. I also wanted some clarification prior to my appointment and the email service was also excellent and speedy. I would get replies the following day. The actual appointment went smoothly, apart from the fact that I was advised that my photos would probably be rejected. So I was advised to go to Snappy Snaps in Notting Hill to get some new photos. Mr George Boutlas, the person who processed my application was very efficient, helpful and pleasant. A great asset to the Greek consulate. I never had pleasant experiences from my visits to the consulate, so I have to say well done to everyone for working hard to turn things over and create a helpful and friendly environment that supports the Greeks of London. Keep up the good work!
Visiting the Greek Embassy has been a very unpleasant experience up to today. I was happily surprised to see the old building renovated. I was registered upon my arrival, waited for about 10'into a stylish waiting area until my name popped on the screen with a number indicating the office I had to go to. The whole process was very pleasant with no unnecessary delays. The only reason I put 4 stars is because when I was called in and the member of staff was looking into my paperwork, another member of staff showed up,started asking questions about an irrelevant different case that she wanted to sort as the person was her friend, completely ignoring me. It's ok to try and help friends and family but do it in a more discreet way. She could have waited for my case to finish and then proceed. All in all,it was a pleasant experience and environment, with friendly helpful people, exactly what we need
WORST embassy worldwide!!! Next available appointment in 2 months, 3 in some cases. NEVER replying to emails or phone calls. ++ They overcharge for their services, they are only accepting cash when everyone in UK specially during Covid stopped accepting cash. For you saying that the staff is polite-> you know what; no-one cares, we all want to get the job done asap not in 3 months time....who cares if they are polite when they don't reply to emails and phone AT ALL! I wish you never come in their need!!!!!!!!!! Edit: Things seem to have improved. They are now replying to emails, I haven’t tried to call them. The Appointment’s system is still very very bad, slots are very limited and the next available appointment is in 1 month. They are indeed polite, although I never had an issue with how they treated me. They just need to make more appointment slots available. They are now accepting cards.
I go to this embassy almost every year to apply for my visa and the past few years have always been a very mediocre (borderline non-existent) service until this year. I am extremely impressed and very grateful for the very efficient and friendly service from everyone who I encountered during my visa application last Thursday. They have changed the entire office which now looks very modern and definitely more updated. Every single staff that I had the pleasure of interacting with last Thursday were very professional and friendly but I do have to make a special commendation to Vasilis and Kostas who both went above and beyond to help me acquire my visa. I seriously can't believe that it's the same place that I've been going to the past few years, the experience I had this year was seamless and truly deserves a 5 star review. Thank you so much again Vasilis and Kostas for your help. :)
Giving 5 stars, only to comment on the amazing staff working at the embassy. They are really going the extra mile to serve the Greeks in UK. Abandoned by the formal state, as per normal for Greek public service, working above and beyond to provide the best service that they can. Appalling appointment management system, inadequate capacity way below actual demand, despite the obvious improvements in the service. The lack of political willingness to solve the issues is extraordinary or just typical, depending on the point of view. The current disgusting, anachronistic, and disproportionate process of passport renewal, shouldn't be acceptable nor even considerable for a state that wants to call itself progressive or modern. Hoping for a ballsy move to exterminate finally the monster of bureaucracy and make sure that the state's compass is pointing to the citizens, for a change.
I was yesterday in the embassy to register my son... I wanna say my experience because I was very impressed with one woman her name is Maria Spuropulu ,she was very fast in her job and she try to help me to do the passport at the same day to avoid a double travel to london as we leave 3 hours away and is difficult to travel with a 2 month baby! And also she was very kind, polite and helpful.. I think the community needs more humanity like her and the world gonna be a better!!! If I had MORE STARTS⭐I will put for Μαρία Σπυρόπουλου because she deserves it!!!! RESPECT But i will put 0 stars for the staff working at passports because they didn’t even try at all to help, i ask to wait till they had some space to do his passport to avoid the trip again to london but they just said is impossible for 5 minutes job ,they need to think more like Maria and help people.
Amazing service- 5 star experience! I used to go to Greece to renew my passport because service at the embassy in the past was disappointing (to say the least). Last time I visited the embassy was over 10 years ago. During lockdown I had no choice so I decided to go to the embassy. I was scared! But I’m so glad I did!!! From start to finish, this was a smooth and enjoyable experience. I managed to book an appointment quickly. When I went there I thought I was at the Swiss embassy by mistake - everyone was so polite, calm, efficient and super professional! I am so amazed! I thought I should leave a review here for two reasons: 1. To thank the staff who managed to turn things around so massively, well done! 2. For my fellow Greeks, no need to go back to Greece for any documents from now on, we have a superb embassy here in London!
The embassy went through a major renovation the last 5 years but some things never change.. While almost everyone was polite there was one civil servant that did not wanted to do her job. I had an appointment for a birth register and "karen" in office 1 was not helpful at all and very rude. It seemed that whatever I was saying would trigger her into a negative reaction and was trying to make me feel uncomfortable and ignorant. She even started an argument about my child's name and blamed my hand writing for the mistakes I pointed out in the papers received by her! The rest of her colleagues were reacting like this is a typical behaviour by her. I just feel terrible that tax payers money go to people with that behaviour and I hope in the future the embassy will keep these behaviours away from the public.
Appauling communication & information via emails I have not been to the embassy myself, have only communicated via emails, as I needed clarifications in relation to my very specific circumstances. Phone calls are not an option. Whenever I sent an email (as advised on their website) for specific clarifications: frankly the information I received was not only irrelevant, but also inaccurate given my specific circumstances. I think a phone call or someone to read properly and reply to specific problems/concerns to individual circumstances will be more useful and less time consuming for us and the embassy staff itself. Of course, more detailed info in the website and forms can also save unnecessary time and frustration. Extremely disappointing service...
These people are a disgrace. The appointment system they have for people who want to renew their passports is a joke since there are never any appointments available. They never answer the phone and when questioned they send robotic emails. I ended up going to Greece to renew my passport which was faster than doing it in the UK. I had it in 3 days rather than waiting 6 months for an appointment with no luck. This speaks volumes...... PS. And they continue to be a joke. The appointment web system looks as if it was designed in the 1990s. Every time one tries to book an available slot, they receive a message that the slot is not available. Forget about answering phones. Must be the worst embassy service in the UK....
If you leave out that it takes ages to book an appointment, when arriving there everything went smoothly and really quick which was surprisingly pleasant. From the receptionist who was polite and informative and also using hand sanitizer all the time while touching your documents, to the cashier who did my job in a minute and finally the lovely Mrs Martzakli who was incredibly helpful, kind and joyful and finished my job in a heartbeat even though she had an injured hand too. I also want to point out that I arrived earlier for my appointment and they accepted me in a minute and my job was done flawlessly and quickly. Thank you all for your hard work , especially under these circumstances.
Me and my husband visited the Greek Embassy to register our daughter’s birth and also to apply for our daughter's first passport. Ms. Maria Spiropoulou went above and beyond to assist us. She even reached out to the registration office in Greece, requesting that they register our daughter's application on the same day. We are sooo grateful for Ms. Maria Spiropoulou's efforts. She demonstrated exceptional professionalism, patience, politeness, and a positive attitude. Ms Maria Spiropoulou is really an asset for the Greek embassy in contrast to some other employees. For example, the lady at the birth register (I don’t remember her name) was very rude the whole time to me.
I experienced amazing service today by the mfa personel. Had a complication that would delay my appointment and the front desk took the time and made sure they did everything in their best ability to help me out so that I wouldn't miss my slot. Amazing coordination between the departments to sort everything out in the speediest and nicest way possible (passports/military services/front desk). A day at the London embassy has always been a good experience compared to public services in Greece but was very pleasantly surprised with the strides they have made, to the make sure they deliver to the highest standard. 10/10 experience and no one is more amazed than myself!
Hard to believe that a country that has more of its natives living outside its borders than inside them has such a dire consulate service. Their website looks ok but the information on there is never sufficient so its essential to have means of contact with the Consulate. And that's where the shock comes. Their phone number is not a phone line in the accepted sense of the words, its just a number where a message refers you back to a website and suggests you contact them by email. The email responses tend to be meaningless, usually directing you back to the website link that you emailed them about in the first place. What exactly do these people do in the Consulate.
I can only write the best review for the lovely people who works in the Greek Embassy in London. I couldn’t find an appointment online with the registration office to register my baby in Greece and to renew my passport at the same day. I traveled all the way from Leeds to London with all the documents needed, just in case they would help me out, and they did. They also try to book me for an earlier appointment to send my baby’s passport application to Greece, although I couldn’t make it that day. I highly appreciate your effort. I would personally like to thank Mr Georgios Boutlas and Mrs Katerina Tipou for helping me out that day. Kind Regards
I have have needed to re-visit the Embassy a few times this year, sometimes due to my needing to bring further documents! I have to say that on each occasion, my experience has been equally as good as it was a few years ago. I found the reception staff to be again very friendly and helpful. The person dealing with my case was absolutely brilliant, being both supportive and extremely patient. She was also kind, highly efficient and reassuring throughout, always remaining warm and understanding. I am very grateful for the support and advice I received and very much appreciate the service from all of the personnel. Thank you very much!
Please, what a joke. What are these positive reviews! Haha. Fake! There is a phone number that only has a pre recorded message to look at the website. You are not able to call anyone. These are literally the most incompetent rude useless individuals to walk the earth. Get ready for endless emails that don’t answer or respond to direct questions and enjoy getting the run around and wasting your time! Literally one of the worst experiences of my life dealing with these people. Makes me want nothing to do with Greece whatsoever. Have some standards. Get a phone number people answer and actually deliver customer service. It’s 2022.
I went to the Greek embassy three times in a short period of time. My experience was great. The receptionist is very helpful and polite and he is also checking out the appointments and making sure that everything runs smoothly. The building inside was extra clean and so were the toilets. The service I was given in my appointments by two ladies was great, I finished all of my jobs in time and without any stress. All the information I needed prior to my appointments was on their website. An added bonus is that this place makes me feel like home. It has the Greek hospitality and I love being reminded of this beautiful country.
We visited the Greek Embassy to apply for our daughter's first passport, and despite a delay in the application process in Greece, Ms. Maria Spiropoulou went above and beyond to assist us. She even reached out to the registration office in Greece, requesting that they register our daughter's application on the same day. We were immensely grateful for Ms. Maria Spiropoulou's efforts. Throughout the process, she demonstrated exceptional professionalism, patience, politeness, and a positive attitude. It was truly a great experience and a shining example of outstanding customer service provided by the Greek Embassy's staff.
I was today in the embassy to register my son... I wanna say my experience because I was very impressed with one woman her name are Maria Spuropulu (Μαρία Σπυρόπουλου ) she was very fast in her job this was meant a lot to me because I was there with to babies one 2 months and another one 2 years old didn't let me to wait 5 hours there like last time another person ! And also she was very kind, polite and helpful.. I think the community needs more humanity like her and the world gonna be a better!!! If I had MORE STARTS⭐I will put for Μαρία Σπυρόπουλου because she deserves it!!!! RESPECT
Just had an appointment for my military issues and all I have to say ,despite I’ve been waiting to be called for 50 minutes! Ilias in office number 9 was really polite, helpful and professional that we finished the appointment in dt time! Although ,the staff in reception they can’t raise a smile or cheer you, even if you give them a high rated contract! The lady in office 6 was all the time at her phone….I stood in front of her till I got realised by her…..They seemed to be that they hated their job! My 5 stars goes to Mr Ilias and his services only ! The rest you do deserve a ZERO!
Amazing staff, very polite and helpful not sure why people are moaning and have given low ratings. We visited to register our newborn today, everyone was very helpful and things were quite organised. The officer who registered our baby even offered us to use her office for breastfeeding as she saw us out in the garden breastfeeding in open. We saw some rude people in the waiting area, please remember these people are only doing there jobs so be polite to them. I wish they posted the passport to you though just like UK govt. does, would save one long trip for many of us.
Unbelievably rude behaviour and attitude. Rude and moody person who did half of my paperwork wrong and telling me off for not spotting all her mistakes. Telling me to come another time with a new appointment (after waiting four months for an appointment) cause my photos don't fullfill the "criteria". There are no other criteria in their website rather than Greek passport type photos. Was waiting twenty minutes in the rain with many other people even if I had an appointment. Thankfully the passports have ten year duration so won't have to come back soon
Very pleased by the experience at the Greek Embassy. I had to renew my passport and everyone there was very helpful and polite. I was surprised by the receptionist who was so friendly and helped everyone with anything they need and guide people to their procedures regardless their ethnicity. She also came to everyone asking them if they feel comfortable with the room temperature and if they would like to adjust it. Also the person who was in charge of my application was very friendly and polite and treat me with respect even that i wasnt Greek.
Zero stars. Μηδέν. It is ridiculous that there is no system in place to deal with Greeks in Scotland and we have to come down to London (twice!) at considerable cost and inconvenience when the Greek state could commission a more local office in Edinburgh or Glasgow to serve the Greek community in the North of the country. Why do we have to appear in person anyway to get a renewal and we cannot go to a local police station or a notary and deal with them via post. Also why do Greek passports only last 5 years when in other countries they last 10!
1 month to find an appointment slot and more than 1 month my passport is sitting at the consulate. Have applied for schengen visa multiple times from different countries , have an ILR and has never taken more than a week for a schengen visa. Risk loosing all the money for my trip and had to pay upfront as visa requirement is that flights etc have to be fully paid for before applying. Been trying to call noone picks up noone has answered my email. Cant believe that for a holiday in July even after starting in April is not enough.
I booked my appointment online to renew my passport. The process was straightforward and I had no friends on the inside. I did not try to book it by phone. Additionally all personnel working on the passports etc service was exceptionally polite and helpful. A small heads up, regarding the photos required, make sure that they are suitable for greek passport, as not all passports have the same requirements. Better go to a proper photo studio. Thanks guys. Hopefully I will have my new passport within a month.
I am very frustrated and embarrassed I am Greek and the Greek Embassy with everyone "Greek" working there to "help" all the Greek people are the rudest non efficient and lazy I sent E-mails called no one answers and if they do they are rude and not helpful. There is no need for the Greek Embassy in London if they get paid to sit on their a*@se getting paid to do nothing, all need to be fired and get all new staff. Hope their families are proud of the work that they do......Utter knobheads....Embarrassing
I was dreading the visit to the Consulate... I lost my passport a few months back and then found it again but mean time I had registered it as lost. I was expecting to do a few trips from home to London - not the easiest of journeys. My passport appointment was on time and everyone I met and talked to at the Embassy was ever so polite, helpful, informative and clear in what had to be done. All was sorted very quickly and I will have my new passport issued in a few weeks. Thanks everyone for their help.
I was today in the embassy to register my son... I wanna say my experience because I was very impressed with one woman her name are Maria Spuropulu (Μαρία Σπυρόπουλου ) she was very fast in her job this was meant a lot to me because I was there with my new born him crying she was very kind, polite and helpful.. I think the community needs more humanity like her and the world gonna be a better!!! If I had MORE STARTS⭐I will put for Μαρία Σπυρόπουλου because she deserves it!!!! RESPECT
I had been there a few years ago and it was chaos. I was very pleasantly surprised this time by the quality of service and assistance of all employees i dealt with. They offered correct advice, were flexible with my requests and helped me with the pram i had with me! They all had a big smile, even the consulate who came to meet me and speak to me regarfing my case. I didnt have to wait much any of the 3 times i went. Well done to whoever has contributed to improving the services to this level.
Once again the customer care was exceptional! I came in today for authorisation and renewal of my passport. Although there was a big gap between appointments (not their fault, couldn’t find back to back appt), they made us feel so welcomed! Everyone was so helpful and polite and Mr George Mpoutlas who dealt with the renewal was so prompt, pleasant and very personable! I was impressed of how kind and caring were with my toddler who was getting bit unsettled! Thanks a million
Never had an issue with the actual process once it's kicked off, it's fairly smooth (passport issuance). The appointment booking system is a little funny, getting someone on the phone can be challenging - you might ask about a passport renewal and oftentimes staff acts flabbergasted like they never heard of something like that. People popping in without an appointment while it's stated that they shouldn't is a different story, but something the office could make clearer.
It was the first time I visited the Greek Embassy in London. My visit today was as smooth as it gets. I had the required documentation on me, so there was no reason for a delay. I was serviced at the exact time of the appointment (I didn't have to wait at all), and the lady who attended to me was very helpful and polite. The offices and waiting room are clean and quite spacious for the number of people present there. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.
Website not the most up-to-date and appointments system is a little tricksy, but once there, I found it perfectly fine. Soft jazz plays in the waiting room and there wasn’t much delay to my appointment time on both the occasions I was there. Eleni was an exemplary public servant, seeming genuinely eager to assist however she could and responding to emails promptly and helpfully. My expectations weren’t high but I found the overall experience pretty good.
This place is as much trash as is the country it represents!! They are extremely racist and biased towards non-Greeks. The lady there is extremely rude. Clearly the Greek government has no process for what is needed to issue a document, but rather leaves it up to the person who you will meet there. The sad thing is that the very people who treat UK citizens with utter disrespect enjoy the quality and transparency our embassies offer them! Shame on you!!
Today I visited the embassy as my partner’s passport was faulty; chip never worked. They were very sceptical and not very willing to assist asking all the time who was the person that told my partner to come to the embassy for this matter. After showing them the email proof they allowed my partner to go in but I was asked to stay outside in the rain for more than half an hour “for security reasons”! Unbelievable and outrageous (non existing) service!!
I was recently here for my military process and passport issues. The process was very smooth, everything was perfect because of an wonderful person called ILIAS office nr 9,was trying to do he’s best to provide a good service to me and sorting everything out. Im forever grateful to him for being patient ,giving all the information i needed and making the process so easy for me. He’s definitely a 10 . Well done ,much appreciated
What a terrible and racist institution. I applied for my schengen visa and they were so disorganised in giving me any information regarding this. Moreover they gave it to me for the shortest amount of time possible due to my nationality! I used to be so excited to visit Greece but after this experience I have no desire to visit a country with such a racist, arrogant and disorganised embassy. It’s 2022, please get yourselves together!
I don't usually post a review but the person who helped me to do the impossible possible deserves recognition. Mrs Maria Spyropoulou is truly an angel!! She went out of her way to help me with my case and get me results. Going through the reviews I realized she has helped many people before and so I felt I should thank her publicly! Thank you Mrs spyropouloy! You are truly a good human being and the world needs people like you.
the service was a joke. the guy at the desk was polite and assisted us in the beginning. when we went inside to get our passports renewed the lady inside had a bad attitude and didn't even have the common decency to answer questions properly in a well manner. as someone who is greek but can't really speak the language, they were very unhelpful when i asked them to repeat it in english. very dissatisfied with the service.
Visited the embassy yesterday for a passport renewal application. The staff was fantastic and although my application was uneventful, i observed how they dealt with other critical cases. They seem to go out of their way to explain and direct people, giving advice and being absolutely genuinely cool. Especially for people that didnt speak Greek, they were really fantastic. 5 stars from me for the team.
I am trying to renovate my passport. I tried at least 3 Fridays to connect to the website and take an appointment and I wasn't not able to book it , they were already all taken ! The first available is on July. I called and they told me to go to Greece to renovate my passport, it will take less time . also sent them an email, they never answered back! All this is unacceptable!
Had multiple bad experiences in the past few years, but on my latest visit the service was perfect. Appointment started on time, the staff was very helpful, polite, pleasant and worked quickly to go through paperwork that needed doing, and overall I don't think of anything could have gone better. Maybe accepting card payments instead of cash only is something to look into.
I must admit- most of people I know are absolutely disappointed with (most of) the services provided from Greek Embassy in London. Therefore, I’ve had a very positive experience with them today! Ms Varouti and Ms Botonaki have both been excellent, extremely helpful and willing to go the extra mile. My job was “done and dusted” on the same day which is great!
I haven't visited the Greek embassy in three years and was seriously shocked with the level of improvements that took place. The stuff are incredibly polite and helpful everything is sparkling clean, no unnecessary queues and and overall perfect atmosphere. Easily my best experience with greek bureaucracy and hopefully that's only the beginning.
Excellent service! We went for passport renewal and the two people (a man that I can’t remember his name and a lady Mrs Maria Spyropoulou)that dealt with my case went beyond and above to help me out! They truly show how Greek people are kind hearted and will do anything they can to help out! So proud for Greece …
Renewing my passport is an extremely and unessesarily complicated procedure but the staff were delightfully understanding and polite. They realised I was in extreme stress and tried to calm me down and offer me alternatives. I just wish someday renewing my Greek passport becomes easier and online. But for now, thank you for your kindness
No one ever picks up the phone. Its only made up with automated messages. ITS easier to win the lottery than find an appointment. I AM very frustrated with this service. Its impossible to get anything done. It's less stressful quicker and cheaper to just fly to Greece and get your job done! Shamefull! I wish I could give zero stars.
i just want to say a huge thank you to Mr Georgios Boutlas, he was the most kind and helpful person. I came with a very difficult situation with my passport renewal and he put me at ease and came up with a solution that i didn't think was possible. Smooth and an overall pleasant experience. i cant thank you enough !!!!!!! :)
Excellent service. Polite, pleasant staff and very quick. We were about 5 minutes late for our passport appointment and we turned up without the specific photos they needed. We were seen without issues and then directed to the photo shop without any fuss. Could not praise them enough, particularly Hristos in office 4
The worst, most unhelpful, most unprofessional Embassy or consulate that I've ever dealt with. They make no attempt at understanding your request/needs and the half-hearted response that you'll receive is nothing short of embarrassing. If I did my job as poorly as some of the employees here, then I'd be sacked.
I've never seen a group of people as rude and unhappy with their job as the ones working at the Greek Embassy in London. They're shouting on the phone, treating you as if you're beneath them. I can't help but wonder who hired them and if there's anyone actually keeping an eye on them and giving them feedback.
Absolutely amazing service at the Greek Embassy today. All staff are polite and helpful. I’ve been there twice so far and each time was exceptional. This review is mostly for Mrs. Aikaterini from the registration room (nr 2) who has been always helping me in the most professional way. Thank you
Very unprofessional. Keep your fingers crossed that the person dealing with you is someone other than Georgios Nerantzis. Doesn't even attempt to offer you any assistance. Doesn't even attempt to understand the situation. Terrible attitude. Why does he have a job there when he clearly doesn't care?
Useless embassy who don't listen to a single word you say. Holiday ruined due to their incompetence in sorting a simple visa, meaning the holiday has to be cancelled at huge expense. Process started 10 weeks in advance and 2 days before going and they are saying up to another 45 days. Crazy.
if I could give this place -5 stars I would. They bully and threaten citizens for no reason than asking questions or not understanding something (happened to me). And they are very prejudice/racist toward people with non Greek nationalities. They have the worst reputation as an embassy.
Appointment system is rubbish - staff are very rude and seem unprofessional and unhappy to be in their job - I have been trying to get help with something important for almost 2 years and I’m getting no where everything is rubbish and dated system and forms …
If u have any problem better go back Greece it’s more fast and cost u less !! This embassy it’s for nothing here ,they get paid for nothing ,a bunch of idiots working there who barely can speak they’re own language, hope all of them get fired and replaced with some competent people !
Whenever I attend I am always happy with the way they treat me. Although, it is hard to get an appointment the service is excellent. Special thanks to the kind lady who accepted an email of the required document as I have travelled from far away to complete the birth registration.
Visited the embassy for passport renewal and I was very pleased with the service I received. The whole space was clean and tidy and the staff were very professional and quick. Always make sure to double check online what is required to bring and you will avoid any disappointments.
Absolutely ridiculous services! no respond to emails, cant call anyone, embarrassment for Greek citizens having this embassy in United Kingdom to be helped in crucial matters. The usual problematic public sector from Hellas has moved into the big island. Patience is the only way.
I visited the embassy today to register my daughter, I was also very satisfied with the staff, but especially this positive review goes to Spyropoulou Maria, Very kind, friendly , polite, helpful, informative and clear in what needed to be done. Excellent service , Thanks a lot .
I went to the Embassy to renew my passport. My experience was excellent. Everybody was polite and helpful and the process was speedy. There is a big change in behaviour and process since the last time I visited the Embassy 5 years ago. The new employees are doing a great job!
My experience at the Greek embassy today was fantastic thanks to the staff, in particular Ms Spiropoulou who really went out of her way to help me and my father with our applications. She was patient, friendly and dealt with our query efficiently. A big thank you to her!
The telephone service has been entirely shut off and redirected to emails. Seems like they don't want to work, every other service in UK has a telephone operator for various queries that might not be resolved or found by email or require emergency.
The worst experience I have ever had with an embassy. They do not answer called or emails. Went to their office as my holiday was fast approaching and they still had not responded to my emails and were not answering calls- they sent me away
Me and My wife applied for greece schenghen visa. Its been 10 working days(15 calender days). No visa Yet. Holiday dates meant to be 24/05 - 01/06, Todays date 20/05. One working day Monday left over(21st & 22nd sat & sun) and we are flying
I have been struggling for a long time to find an appointment and i had a serious reason to do it. From the mails the explained to me to look rather at 00.00 hours when the system updates. This is quite awkward and sounds silly. Finally i
Not the most efficiently run organisation. Unorganised, burdened by beaureicracy staff provide a fairly adequate service hardly ever managing a smile. Be prepared to be patronised and criticised for what for them is a simple task but for
imposible to get an appointment!!!!! they literally have 1 minute window every Friday exactly at 12, and appointments dissapear in seconds so don't think that you will be able to book something or if you do, it will be the thing you will
Great and fast service. I had an appointment today and they called me in even before the schedule. Reception very friendly guys. The lady upstairs at the office was outstanding. By the time a went to pay the fee she had already finished
I expected the worst based on previous reviews. However, the lady that dealt with my passport application was friendly, polite, helpful and took the time to explain things to me as I haven't had a Greek passport since I was a child. The
Very happy with my experiences here. Staff were very nice and accommodating especially as I don't speak Greek. Passport renewal was processed promptly and now payment can be made by card which is a welcome addition. Efharisto Poli!
Extremely helpful, polite and professional! ( Own personal experience) I have to admit that few years ago the staff at the embassy were rude , had a chip on their shoulders. It seems now that things have changed to the better!!
The service from the Embassy of Greece has improved a lot in the last 1 or 2 years. I booked my appointment online and the whole process was straightforward. Extremely polite and helpfull staff in the military department.
I wish I could give a minus star. What a bunch of unhelpful, uncaring, lazy people. They are all a drain and waste of money! After numerous emails no one wants to help! They are all an embarrassment to their Country
hello my appointment in the embassy was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly and polite, helped me with my power of attorney forms excellent supporting staff, and thank you all . …
The staff and service at the embassy were absolutely incredible. Fast, helpful, knew their jobs, friendly. Thank you so much. You make our country proud. I wish I could give you 6 stars! Alex from Guernsey
Bad experience two months ago but I’m taking back what I said and rated as today I had a great experience, served by a lovely and polite lady who actually also helped me with my sons registry 3 years ago.
No wonder Greece is such a mess. My goodness. Not only is the website poor. But the staff are terrible at doing their job. And they never respond to emails. Absolutely useless Greeks. I am embarrassed.
Building and door kinda creepy and old and looked like a jail, very few employees and reception was only one person. Reminds of my home country Greece for real! Loving the kep and oaed vibes.
Today I was having a appointment for registrations . The lady Αικατερίνη Τύπου was amazing and so helpful. Thank you so much for everything It's so good to see and meet people like you .
Incredible people !! My experience at the Embassy has been phenomenal! All the personnel, from the very kind gentleman in the reception, to the very helpful people on military and
Very disappointed I see so good comment and make me surprise I wait for 3 months to collect my passport I send several email unfortunately none bother to update me !!!!!
Great service, very polite staff. Make sure you book your appointment and get all your paperwork sorted beforehand. Good location too, either by taxi or by tube.
