On this occasion, poor service and attitudes! I have previously used Enterprise on several occasions when I have been traveling to buy new cars as you can hire from one branch and return to another. It has always gone exactly to plan, and I have been very satisfied. On this occasion, things went wrong, all entirely down to Enterprise, and the attitudes of 3 separate members of staff were poor. My booking was made late afternoon on 20/7/20 for collection at 8am 21/7/20. My car was collected on time at the Hartcliffe Way branch in Bristol, where everything went fine, and during which I chatted with the guy about my need for the car and importantly, why and WHERE (Litchfield) I would be dropping it off. Journey completed, new car bought, and I drove to the Litchfield branch to drop the hire car off. Upon arrival at Enterprises branch in Lichfield, I found it closed, with a sign on the door saying "To protect staff and customers, this branch is currently closed". I phoned Bristol, where I was told I had to take the car to Tamworth as per my booking. I stated my booking was to drop the car at Lichfield, and I was informed that it wasn't? I stated again that it was Lichfield, and my booking confirmation from Enterprise, which I was looking at, clearly states Lichfield drop off. I was then told that when I signed this morning, I had signed to deliver it to Tamworth, so I pointed out that if I had to now drop it off at there I should've been made aware of that at collection. By now someone from the adjoining business told me that they take keys in for Enterprise when the office is closed. I put this to the person I was speaking to in Bristol, but I was told I couldn't because it wasn't Enterprise Lichfield's car, it was Bristol's. The person from the adjoining business also told me that this branch had been closed the entire time of Covid19, so it wasn't a recent thing, and Enterprise would've known when I made my booking, but he had now phoned Tamworth and put me onto them. This is where things became even worse and really quite strange. The person from Tamworth told me "If you leave the car at Lichfield, the police will be called", so I obviously asked why would the police be called. According to the person at Tamworth, they would be called because " The car had been abandoned". I pointed out that there were at least 5 other cars here, all with Enterprise logos on, plus 6 vans clearly sign written with Enterprise logos, so why would the car I left here be considered "abandoned"? I said, as I was on my own and had no way of getting back to Lichfield to collect the car I had just bought, could someone from Tamworth just drive over, check the car, and collect the keys, as by now, 20 minutes had been wasted and I still had a 140 mile drive home to do. Met with reluctance, I was told it wouldn't be possible straight away. I felt the level of service was now very poor, and had been inconvenienced long enough, so having been told Tamworth was a 10-15 minute drive away, I said they had 20 minutes to get to me, otherwise, I would be leaving the car and key here and getting on my way. After 18 minutes, a car arrived with 2 men inside and stopped. The passenger got out first, and I asked if he was the person I'd spoken to on the phone, he said he wasn't. The driver then got out and simply said "Key". I passed the key, he looked round the car, looked at his colleague and said "It's OK". At this point, I asked if I needed to sign anything, he said "No" and walked back to the car he had arrived in. I asked if he was the guy I had spoken to on the phone, and he said "Yes". Now, he was either not a great conversationalist or just plain rude and ignorant, I did say that whilst I appreciate this wasn't his fault, it most certainly wasn't mine, and I shouldn't have been put out like this. His reply.... nothing! The following day I made a complaint (to a very helpful lady on the phone) and a manager rang me yesterday (28/7) who's attitude was just as bad as the other two. Overall very poor!!
I had a good experience with the people at the branch when picking up or dropping off the car which makes it hard for me to leave this review - however we had an absolute terrible experience when reaching out to solve an issue after our trip. When picking the car up, we were told that extra fuel will get refunded however we have been told that it would be good to bring the car back with the same quantity of fuel as this avoids additional admin work. Unfortunately, we ended our trip with quite some excess fuel as we needed to cut our trip short. When dropping the car off at the branch in Plymouth, we were kindly informed that the refund of the extra fuel will be done by the South Bristol branch. Already at this point, I felt it wasn't the customer's problem to know which branch of Enterprise will process the refund but anyways, I was fine with that. We were reassured that this ticket has been escalated to the Bristol South branch and they follow up as they cannot just ignore it. One week later, we received an email from the branch manager asking to fill out a satisfaction survey and highlighting that if we had any issues, we should reach out to him personally to sort it out. I thought "great, there was actually something pending"... Fast forward 2 months later, after having sent a dozen of emails trying to call the agency to speak personally to the branch manager who for some reasons is never available, we are still waiting for our refund. Out of one of our several calls, one of the agent actually told us that fuel doesn't get refunded which was a news to me as two people of Enterprise from two different branches mentioned something different. Even if the refund is not part of the terms & conditions, the lack of responsiveness of this branch manager is just awful and reflects poorly on the entire Entreprise brand.
Terrible service. Booked in to pick up a car this evening at 5:30pm as that is the earliest I could get to the shop after work. Had already paid and booked the appointment but the guy serving me gave me a poor excuse as to why he couldn't go through the paperwork and give me the car before closing at 6pm. Honestly it seems like he just wanted to get out of there on a Friday evening and no I am left with no car until tomorrow morning despite have had an appointment. To make matters worse I had called to double check my appointment before arriving earlier in the day and had spoken to the same bloke who slagged me off. This is such terrible service I can't believe it. I had to rush home and walk to the place only to leave angry and without a vehicle so I had to walk home again just because someone didn't want to actually work on their shift. Now my partner and I have to put our whole weekend away, to see family who are only in town for a short time, on hold to convenience someone possibly getting out of work a few minutes ahead of schedule on a Friday evening. Could not be more unimpressed. It is now too late to cancel and have something else booked as everywhere else is closed and I've already paid. Even though I will go and collect the car tomorrow I am already very dissatisfied with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Bedminster.
My car in garage. Covered by green flag a hire car for two days. Was meant to have hire car delivered 9am Friday. They kept changing the plan and ended up being delivered around 4pm. The car had rubbish inside so not cleaned out beforehand. The key and outside of car wasn't in best condition. I explained from the start I was working a 12 hour shift Sunday and wasn't around for them to collect the car then but still had a phone call Sunday to see if car was ready to be collected. I was told if I delivery it Monday morning before 9am I won't be charged extra and would get a lift back home. I needed the car longer and was happy to pay extra which I said from the start but no one was helpful about this. When I dropped the car off no one was in the office and had to drop the key off at drop of keys box but later on discovered by them I dropped it off at wrong branch. Very stressful and unhelpful experience with them. They commented on my review to email them so they can look into it which I did but had no response back
I used Enterprise for a courtesy car when my own was damaged. I returned the courtesy car to the car repair centre who then later returned it to Enterprise. A few days later I was accused of damaging the car and received a demand for payment of my full insurance excess. I asked Enterprise for proof of the damage which they were unable to give. I am dubious there was any damage at all or, that it was already damaged and Enterprise didn’t draw any attention to it. It was apparently my responsibility to check the vehicle beforehand but when proof was required for alleged damage it couldn’t be given. I consider this double standards. The demand for payment was a shock and was given with no warning. Either avoid this place completely and use another more reputable car hire company or ensure you check the vehicle carefully just to cover yourself in case you find yourself suddenly accused of damaging their car.
Of all the car rental places I have ever used, this rates as the best by a long way. I needed a car at short notice due to someone driving into the back of my car. Within 7 hours of the crash, I had the keys in my hand and was good to go. The insurance company tried to fob me off with a Corsa or Fiesta (I had lost the use of a seven seat Grand C-Max), but I told them that wasn't a suitable replacement. By the time I arrived at Enterprise they had sourced an 18 plate Nissan Qashqai for me, with the promise of something larger if I needed it. I was shown around the car, and all the pre-existing marks were pointed out, and I was shown the, "bullet hole" template that they used to assess any damage. When I returned the car a few weeks later, after a quick check I was given a lift back home. Excellent service all round, will definitely be my first choice next time I need to rent a car.
Ordered an economy automatic (Ford focus or similar) for collection at 9am. Arrived 30 minutes early to be informed my vehicle wasn't even on site yet. Asked what it was and its was told it was a Nissan micra. Informed them I didn't want a car that was from the class below and was bluntly told its in the same class. A Nissan micra is smaller than a Ford fiesta. Definitely not in the same class. No other vehicle on site was offered so I was lumbered with this small car for a journey from Bristol to Norwich. Yes, that's 5 hours. Car arrived at 9.30 and wasn't even cleaned before being handed over to me. No compensation offered aside from a tiny box of chocolates found in the bottom of someone's drawer. I won't be using this small depot on my corporate account going forward.
charged us for a parking violation after the car was returned Ford hired us a car from Enterprise while our car was being serviced, the car was not ready when we went to pick it up, it was not an automatic as requested. Enterprise wanted to swap the car after the first night as the car we had was already booked. and then after the car was collected they charged us for a parking violation. we proved the car was collected by sending video footage from our Ring doorbell with time and date stamped and enterprise have now stopped returning our emails. this was 4 weeks ago. I sent an email asking for a refund and they replied saying they can't speak to me as it was in my wife's name, i asked why they weren't returning her emails and i never heard back. Terrible company!!
Best car-renting experience I've had. Genuinely friendly staff (esp Amin) give a nice atmosphere and the process was efficient and simple. Didn't need proof of address x2 (maybe because I used a credit card) and didn't need to clean and hoover the car before return! Though, don't regret doing so, as respect to the team and their service. Nice little 5-door Astra, which I got 50+ mpg for 350mi trip not using any motorways (hope the next person knows how to amend SatNav). Big fan of the auto-engine-off/on feature at lights. Cuts out and restarts very quickly with simple press of the clutch. Also like full-tank of petrol to start and renting to the hour, i.e. 24/48/72 etc hr rental meaning you can take back later/next day than you may have intended.
I've been using enterprise for about 6 years we rent mini vans twice a year for holiday very disappointed with the van we had last year and this year the Mercedes when we picked it up it hadn't been cleaned inside found rubbish in there and sticky in cup holders.also drivers window wouldn't open both mirror wasn't working no windscreen wash.engine management light came on on the way back from holiday on motorway engine cut out 3 times told them when we got back but it was a new staff member she just said she would give us £10 back but received my deposit back with no £10 which I think that was insult anyway .not very covid safe cleaning wise partner of Mr Nigel pleass driver
Needed to hire a car with only a 3 day timescale. Very good in that respect. Really nice car, very clean, all mod cons. You do need to inspect car, take pictures inside and out while picking up, but that's common sense, which I didn't have (It being over 5 years since a rental). We had no problems, anyway, after drop off but was anxious when I had it after saw something (Drove straight to home after pickup and only noticed marks the next day when getting in, nervousness of driving it must have been abaited and I was more aware). Overall 4/5. An inspection is required, just for peace of mind. Nice car, very comfortable. Will use again.
Same as stated by other reviewer, got a car from this guys provided by Skoda coverage. All well and good up to the point were I was charged for 3/4 of a tank worth of fuel on a nearly full tank. I got the car with a full tank, drove about 70 miles on a car that has an average of 500 miles range, so yeah.. Some wizardry happened there... Lesson learned: always take a photo of the fuel gauge before returning the car. EDIT: I was contacted by the manager after posting this review and got my money refunded. Changed from 1 star as I'm happy they sorted this out, but I still wish it didn't happen in the first place.
I am absolutely fuming. I went to book a car but they didn't have any options so offered to put me onto car club. Went to drive to an important client meeting and car wouldn't open. Lots of people tried to help but couldn't. Missed the meeting and Enterprise simply said it was Carclub's issue. Car club still hasn't reposnded to me. No one has answered the help line. This was a week ago! Enterprise has not got in touch with me either. I've wasted over £100 on a journey that never happened and got in trouble at work. I am fuming. Never booking through them again.
I had previously left a poor review for Enterprise as a whole as my experiences of car rental have not been great. However, since I have been able to raise and discuss my experiences, Dan from the Bristol South branch has been brilliant and I have received excellent customer service through my bookings since. Therefore, I feel it is only fair to change my review based upon this improved experience. Delivery of vehicles at the right time and communication has been very good. Plus I have been satisfied with the standard & condition of vehicles delivered.
I book cars through my employer and they always have an excuse to not deliver one to my address. If I book it too late, it's too late, if I book it much in advance they don't have an available car/slot. Communication is very poor with customs. Sometimes I got a phone call on Thursday to cancel a booking for Saturday (car booked 1 week before).Last time I went to collect a car, only 1 member of staff working in office, we all waited long time and when it was my time I found out the car wasn't ready yet, so I had to cancel my booking.
Smack bang on the main road into Hartcliffe, this branch is well situated for easy drop off. Unfortunately the branch is currently undergoing renovation and is limited for space. Saying that, the portable office is on site and staffed as usual. All the staff here are happy to help, always smiling and friendly as you would expect. After the debacle with Enterprise north Bristol yesterday, today was a breeze, the young lady at enterprise Bristol south was very professional and polite, I was presented with a choice of 2 cars and both were clean and tidy, what a difference in standards between north Bristol and south Bristol, I will only from now on deal with south Bristol Enterprise as they were spectacular, maybe north needs to have lessons from south. thank you south for the seamless handover
Absolutely diabolical, No van ready, had to wait another hr for a different van + they wanted another £200 deposit on collecting, They had two months to ask me for another £200 on top of the rent price for deposit, Had done it all on line,so I thought we just pick up van n go, Not extra deposit not extra for insurance Not extra for windscreen cover not extra for wheel cover, what a joke, Would never use again .
Shockingly poor. Was referred to Enterprise Hartclffe Way as an AA customer. AA were great but the staff at this branch of Enterprise seemed rushed, were very abrupt and aggressive on the phone. A young woman claiming to be the branch manager tried to blame me for an Enterprise driver not showing up. Although I am covered by AA and Enterprise should have offered us a cover car, we just never received one.
Best car rental company I've ever used. Friendly, professional and very efficient staff make the whole process hassle free. Never seem to have to wait long for pick up or drop off. They are upfront about damage to vehicles and have a tool which essentially if the damage fits in the 2 inch circle its no problem. Whenever I need a van or car these guys are my only choice. Keep up the good work!
I've had a few cars from them and i find them super helpful and friendly, even more so if you have been in a car accident and the insurer hire's you one of there cars, as they do there upmost to make things ad stress free as pos by dropping off and picking the hire car up. Witch is great as it's the last thing you need to be worry about,oh and the Staff are super friendly to.
Recently hired a van from these guys and It was throughout a very pleasant experience from start to finish. The van was great and did everything I needed. Very good price and the vehicle was nearly new. Great staff very helpful and genuinely nice people just happy to help. It was a very easy experience and I couldn't recommend enough. Will definitely use again.
AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE….THEY ARE CON ARTISTS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER,, If you hire from here, go over the vehicle with a microscope, they will hit you with costs for the smallest of things that you won’t pick up on inspection ,, probably best to video the entire vehicle, they threaten with dept collectors etc etc….disgusting , moralless behaviour….
I hired a Toyota hybrid for four months and only cost £1300 you might think is sounds expensive but I saved a fortune in petrol bills I would definitely recommend them you don't have to worry about tax insure clock up miles and be charged for it or worry about garage bills plus your not tied to a finance for 3 years. Thay picked me up and dropped me home
Absolutely Terrible, booked a large hire van in advance for a 3bed house move, to receive a call 7pm the night before informing me the van is not available!!! Now i have to find a removal van on the day of moving- not the extra stress i needed ..all phone lines for other rental companies are shut due to closing hours. Should be ashamed.
Always a top notch experience renting from Enterprise, I usually use the Bristol South Branch, Fabulous vehicles, I had an A class Mercedes this time, what a car!!!! What a bargain price too!!! Absolute Kudos to my rental again (Georgia) she was polite, courtous, funny and very knowledgeable, give her a promotion immediately.
Absolutely useless deducted money from my account without my permission when it was a rental from ford and had no apology or my deposit back avoid this enterprise at all cost! After leaving a ten pound note and a bottle of aftershave in the door to see if they would be honest with me for a test. They failed as I rang back and asked them if I left anything they said we've searched round the car and nothing is left. Young lad and girl on front desk were rude .
Actually, the branch itself was very good. It was the central telephone call centre that was confused. They didn't seem to know where the locations were or be able to co-ordinate from the central office to the branch, so it was pointless and frustrating trying to work through them

Friendly and helpful staff, bit I was taken aback when they asked me if I felt comfortable driving the van I'd just booked. Was also surprised that it couldn't be returned after 17:00! Other than that I can't fault enterprise. The vehicles are always clean and easy to find
I have received excellent service from this company for the use of a loan car while my own vehicle was being repaired following a non injury accident. The pick up and return service was an added bonus. Polite and knowledgeable staff, are a credit to the company.
No issues picking up van, wasn't aware of deposit even though paid extra for all insurance. When returning the van had to prove the van had damage prior to me picking it up, thankfully had pics with timestamp to show. Don't get caught out by theses scammers.
Very friendly and helpful staff. My original car had a flat but they caught it before i arrived and only had a limited wait before i could drive away. Cannot fault them for this as i was made aware prior to arriving. Overall great service

Great, rented a van, yes they rent vans as well, good service and if needed they pick you up and drop you at home after you take the van or car back, good does what it says on the tin.
I rented a car for a weekend here, and found them polite and easy to deal with. The location isn't so convenient for Bristol city centre, but the free pick up/drop off is pretty handy.

Poor communication and customer service. Booked a rental with advance notice only to be telephone 3 hours before my collection to be told they didn’t have a vehicle to rent me.
These guys are always a pleasure to deal with. Not sure if they are the cheapest in town, but best service and quality, (which for me is best value). Easy, fast and reliable.
