I don’t do this often but while there is nothing that can be done to remedy my experience I can help to prevent it happening to others. I had my hair appointment at the weekend. Firstly in prior contact from the salon it said clearly to be on time or call ahead if running late. I was exactly on time. But the hair stylist was very late. She didn’t come outside and warn me at any point about this and encourage me to go and wait in our car, instead I was waiting in the freezing cold drizzle for 20 minutes outside the van. I now have a sore throat and my asthma has flared up. Running 20 minutes late into an appointment set for 115 minutes is very significant and worth a phone call to me as expected in return if I had been running late. Prior to my appointment I was sent an online consultation form to fill in and send back to minimise contact on the day. Upon arrival the stylist asked what I wanted. She hadn’t read the online consultation. So I had to go over what I wanted. Repeatedly. She still didn’t listen because I had to ask her to stop taking more length. Repeatedly. I asked for no smoothing serum or oil to be put on my hair. It was in my hair before I even noticed. If she had of read the online consultation she would have known this. I have to tie my hair up in a bun for hygienic purposes for work. And if my immune system is struggling I also get hives from the hair touching my face neck. Now I cannot put my hair in a bun. I said verbally on the day (and yes in the unread consultation). Repeatedly. Clearly. It had to be long enough to tie into a bun. I can barely get it up to a pony let alone a bun. It’s all sticking out and I have to keep putting it up and up and up, because it’s so short it keeps working its way out. I look like a two year old whose parent has scraped up all their hair to force it into a pony sitting on top of thier head. Like Pebbles from the Flintstones. Cute on a 2 year old. Not on a 42 year old. I felt very rushed. After the 20 minute wait outside I was only in the chair for 40 odd minutes. I paid for the longer time segment so there would be no rush. And my appointment finished earlier than scheduled. I do not wish for the hair stylist to contact me please, I am too upset. All I can do is wait for it to grow and I won’t be back. Had she of read the online consultation she would have known what a HUGE step this was for me to come in at all. Perhaps she was so preoccupied and not listening because she running so late? She stated it was a lot to handle sanitising between clients. She was absolutely lovely. And I feel terrible but this service wasn’t good at all. Hair is part of someone’s identity. Their body. If you are given the trust to touch or alter it in any way or form then listening should be the primary focus before all else. Lastly the reason I felt safe coming out of 3 month isolation for this was because I was under the impression from your wording about supplying all staff with medical grade masks that my stylist would be wearing one. Perhaps that should also state BUT they aren’t required to wear them.

I recently visited Eye Am Hair and had the pleasure of having Ariel, the wonderfully charismatic and bubbly stylist to work on my hair. The salon itself oozed a big amount of cozy vibes and I felt really comfortable in it. But the real standout of my visit was Ariel. They were incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, and took the time to really listen to what I wanted as my curls really needed "special handling". They also have a great eye for detail, and offered suggestions and advice that really enhanced the final look. As someone with naturally curly hair, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find a salon that knows how to properly handle and style curly hair, much less being versed in the "Curly Girl Method". But Ariel was a true pro who expertly shaped and styled my curls, and even taught me some tips and tricks for maintaining them at home. The result was a beautiful head of fresh curls that I am absolutely thrilled with. Overall, I would highly recommend Eye Am Hair and Ariel to anyone looking for a fantastic salon experience and the legit Curly Girl Method expertise. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt pampered and well taken care of, and I left feeling confident and stunning. Thank you Ariel and the team at Eye Am Hair - I will definitely visit again!

Not everyone can create a hair cut that you can rock while on a stage as well as straight out of bed without any product, but Kat Loos can! My hair needed some tlc after 9 months without curly hair love. I wanted it to be funky, my curls reborn and to rock my greys, but I didn’t want to have to spend hours styling. I am also a regular bike rider so I also needed it to look fabulous when I throw off the helmet and walk into a meeting. I was also about to embark on a weekend of crazy science talks and I needed some serious hair help. Kat listened and delivered the best hair cut of my entire life, and my hair has never looked so good first thing in the morning as I feed my chickens. It was my first time in Kat’s chair but I felt totally at ease and could have stayed for hours. The whole eye am hair team rocks, and so if you are hesitant to book in with Kat, don’t be! And as I look in my car mirror while I type this review, it still looks awesome on a rainy windy Tassie day!

This place and its staff are perfection. I have trichotillomania and it's made haircuts quite hellish in the past, as hairdressers have made assumptions about me and said extremely unhelpful things. Eye Am was one of only two places in Hobart that had even heard of tricho, and the ONLY place with staff who had experience working with/around tricho. Imagine my delight when they also specialise in curly hair, have a delightful location, and the most friendly and inclusive staff you could possibly hope to find! The G&T's are a nice plus, too. I happily put my hair in their hands for a mystery cut, on my first visit! TLDR: I am a strict convert to Eye AM Hair and have now been going regularly for about 2 years. If you have any struggles with your hair, especially anything emotionally sensitive, I can't reccomend them enough.

I love going to Eye Am Hair. The entire team are wonderful, creative and just delightful. I invariably ask for a mystery mane because it's so much fun to see what the team comes up with, knowing I love colour! These are just a few photos of the work the team has done for me. I feel completely at ease letting them do anything they want with my hair because the results are always brilliant! Nancy the caravan is a lovely place to be and always feels welcoming, and team are caring, quirky and hilarious - I spend a lot of my pamper sessions laughing. If chatter isn't your thing, they also do silent sessions, perfect for just sitting back if you find interacting a bit tiring and just want some peace and quiet. The hair products are vegan and the bottles are glass, so I can bring them back to be recycled :)

As far as 'quickies' go, this was a great experience. I needed a quick trim upon arrival from an overseas flight and to my delight I was able to make an appointment with minimal fuss and bother by email and then change it via the web. The 'salon' experience was friendly, time efficient and novel. The caravan makes for personalised and engaging interactions not only with the stylists but with other clients. In terms of the quality of the haircut, Trent's no fuss, technically skilled and precision styling meant I walked away with a good looking cut. That, dear friends, is always a bonus when visiting a place and risking an ad hoc cut with a stylist one doesn't know. Overall, I'd recommend Eye Am Hair not just for the novelty value but for the friendliness and skill you'd want to find in any salon.

My experience makes me a little sad, I feel they have great reviews and I think im just an exception. I wanted my hair dyed pink and I know they would have to use bleach. I was pregnant at the time and told them i was pregnant when I booked and they said it would be safe. I had to wait 2 months which was fine. 4 days before my appointment they called me up and cancelled my appointment due to the hairdresser not being comfortable bleaching my hair as I was pregnant. They then orangised me to go in and have a colour test/consultation of my hair. I excepted the appointment. Im a nurse and I ended up having to work the day of this appointment due to staff shortages. I cancelled the appointment and was charged 30 dollars. I felt let down. I just wanted to share my experience

My 9 year old went from shoulder length thick hair to a cute little page cut today, thanks to the amazing Eli. Kiddo has a few sensory issues around hair brushing AND has hair like velcro...so while she's always pretty "good" at the hairdresser, it also is a point of anxiety for her at times. Eli was INCREDIBLE - Let my daughter sit however she wanted, gave her space to speak up if the brushing/separating was getting too much, and took the time to explain every step along the way AND asked my daughter's permission for each step. My daughter had the best time, and is beyond thrilled with her adorable new do. It looks gorgeous and is a perfect "set and forget" do...no more hair brushing angst! I had a pretty rough cut, so went into Eye am hair to see Eli for a fix up. Eli was just amazing, and I really felt like a million bucks afterwards rocking my pixie cut! All the ladies at Eye am hair are just gorgeous- just a lovely experience- I have a 9 month old baby who would normally have made getting a hair cut impossible..but bub was more than welcomed, and got to sit on my lap nearly the whole time (only leaving to get cuddles with the ladies ♡ who were more than happy to give hugs!) The products used were all natural and completely safe to use around my baby too, Eli made sure to advise me of ingredients. Extremely inclusive team and the best hairdresser experience hands down! Highly recommend Eye am hair ☆☆☆☆☆!

I love eye am hair - great space, great vibe, and most important of all, great hairdressers. I've been getting my hair done by Chelsea for years, and we've done pretty much everything with my hair - sleek and a bit conservative right through to out there colours and really edgy cuts. She works so well with every client to make sure it's a collaborative process - her expertise coupled with your boundaries and expectations. It's always a fantastic experience. I've referred heaps of friends, all with really different looks and levels of risk-taking with their hair, and she always does an amazing job. Can't recommend more highly!!

Trent really knows his stuff! Having worked for L'Oréal and taught the science of hair for many years (we had a good chat!) I knew my hair was in good hands. I got a curly cut and after having some very ordinary cuts time and again, my curls have had the care they needed and are full of life! It is also the first time I've been asked to hang my hair upside down by a hairdresser, which to me demonstrated that they GET curly hair. I loved that the salon is made of recycled materials, and is chic and inviting. Excellent vibes, and thank you for the blue "butterfly" tea.

I've never had a curly hair cut before and I must say my first experience was awesome! Celeste is a generous and kind soul who took the upmost care in bringing out the best in my unruly locks. She had me looking and feeling like Beyonce when she was done. I will definitely be back as I haven't had this many compliments on my hair since...ever! If you've got curls and you've been flat ironing them or feel overwhelmed by how much hair you've got, the miracle workers at Eye Am Hair will transform you (see above where I said I am basically Beyonce now).

Since having Chelsea do my hair I've been told that it's the best hair cut and style I've ever had and I've also had people ask me who did it. Chelsea was able to help me with a new style after I said I felt age was changing how my skin and hair were feeling. While I was there she did another client's hair who was curly (I'm not) and I was fascinated with how she did it and what she knew. I am new to Hobart having moved here from Melbourne and am so happy to have found Chelsea and her caravan. I highly recommend experiencing Eye Am Hair.

Getting the 'mystery mane' haicut with Chelsea was the best! I loved not having to look in the mirror (as it is covered) whilst she cut my hair. Instead it was like chatting with an old friend, whilst sitting with excitement of not knowing what haircut i would end up with. But seriously she nailed it. She captured who i was and gave me something fresh and new that i would never have thought of. I absolutely love my new cut! It was fun to do, Chelsea was awesome and the little caravan was very cool. I can't recommend Eye Am Hair enough.

After having a traumatic hair experience years ago and not visiting a salon since, Kat made me feel so welcome and relieved all of my haircut anxiety! She worked so well with me to find a fresh and cute new hairstyle and even gave me a few suggestions on how to wear my new hair since I haven’t had it that short before, as well as hair care suggestions. I have gotten nothing but compliments since, and i’m glad we found enough hair to donate together! Thank you so much Kat, I have never felt good leaving a hair salon until now :)

I cannot believe the magic Doris worked on my hair in the Pagan Parlour tent!! Having short hair and being stuck in that awful phasd of growing out a pixie cut, it was so nice to have extensions braided in and to have an incredible look for my time at the huon valley midwinter festival. I still have my braids in, and hope to keep them going another few days at least! I'm already thinking about visiting the van when I next can, knowing what they can do. The whole crew were lovely, and really beautiful people with a great vibe ❤️

Amazing place. Highly highly recommended. Full of funk, energy and fun. Had the best time in the safe and skilled hands of Eli. Even though all parts of the colour did not initially go entirely to plan, the way the Team came to the rescue and saved the situation, pampered me and made me feel so welcomed meant that I had the time of my life. Visiting from the main land , staying at Macq 01 . Super close to my accomodation. Wanted to say thank you for great service , great biodynamic hair care products in my hair & a fabulous blow dry. The emerging hair stylist needed a little help from the senior , but she was the sweetest happiest hairdresser iv meet in years . What an amazing concept- having a blow dry in a caravan. Thank you to the owner who took my call & was able to fit me in. Will definitely be back on my return to Hobart ❤️

I really have mixed feelings about my experience. While I m happy with the cut itself, and found Trent to be lovely, the combination of the drying and the products used really didn't work on my hair. It looked oily and more importantly was way less curly than upon arrival. Trent agreed to wash my hair again before leaving and I went home to use my product/technics before heading out again. I was really looking forward to leave a hair dresser salon happy for once but sadly that wasn't the case.

As fellow curly hair folks will know, going to a new salon for the first time can be an anxiety-provoking experience, with flash backs to every bad hair cut you’ve ever had. But Eye Am Hair are great! Hairdressers complete specialised curl cutting training and ongoing professional development to keep our locks fab. Kat has been cutting my hair for over a year and is both a fantastic hairdresser and a fab human to spend an hour chatting to. I think my hair sits better now than it ever has

After my first appointment with Dorris, I was left with great admiration and inner satisfaction with my experience. I’m not a fan of hairdressing salons. Eye Am Hair gives you personalised service with a relaxed easy going vibe. Plenty of time is given to advice and discussion before any attempt to do a hair style. Dorris is a great listener and happy to talk for as long as it takes until you are ready to trust your locks to her experienced hands. I look forward to my next appointment.

I had a curly cut and colour with Ariel today, and I could not possibly be more stoked with how amazing it turned out! Everything I wanted and so, so much more. The whole experience is well thought out, with the client's needs and wants being the central focus of the style. Outstanding level of service from Dorris. My hair has always been wanting to curl properly but often becomes a puffy, frizzy mess. Dorris explained to me what she was going to do and then walked me through care tips and achievable at home styling. She was absolutely amazing and is incredibly talented. I rebooked for another appointment there and then, I feel like my hair has taken on a new life :D I couldn't recommend Eye Am and Dorris enough. Thank you for the experience.

Finally! A hairdresser that can work with curly hair!! So many other salons claim that they can, but I still leave the salon with frizzy, towel dried hair!! But not here! Chelsea is an expert, and gave me the best hair I have ever had in my whole life. I left the salon looking like myself, but better. I had the best time, and the headscratcher was soo good. So Happy with my Curly Cut by Dorris! Had a great time at the caravan sipping a G+T while chatting to my hairdresser, it was my first time getting my hair cut dry and can say that I do not regret it, it is so easy to style! With curly hair most hairdressers do not seem to know what to do, so it was amazing to have someone who knew what needed to be done with my hair! Will come back for sure! And my partner is excited about going there to get his beard trim!

Seriously the best haircut I have ever had. I can usually never get my hair to look the way it does right after a cut but a month after my appointment my hair still sits the way it's supposed to. It was great to finally meet someone who properly understands curly hair. Dorris was very reassuring and understanding of my past bad experiences with hairdressers! Products are fantastic also. Can't wait for my next appointment!

These guys are so great! I hadn’t had my hair cut for a while, & had seen the amazing Eye Am Hair van at Red Square (as well as the incredible stuff they did at this year’s Dark Mofo) & I was SO glad I made an appointment. Had my hair cut today by Chelsea, was such a great experience! She is an awesome hairdresser who listens to what you want and understands crazy thick hair like mine. The space is very cool, booking was super easy and the price incredibly reasonable - didn't think you could get a haircut under $80 in the inner city - unbelievable! I had a bit of a hair emergency and Bec was so attentive and kind. The Pagan Parlor was unlike anything I had experienced before, and I will certainly return. Their experience and knowledge in alternative hair styles and types is very apparent, and I had total confidence in their ability to resurrect my hair. They definitely exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t be happier! 10/10!

These fabulous stylists are true artists. I have curly hair and have had both Ariel and Celest cut and colour/tint my hair over the past 6 months. I am super happy with the results - my hair has never behaved so well! Love how generous the team are with sharing their knowledge and skills with each other - a lovely nurturing vibe exists within the caravan - and great herbal tea too!

Personalised care, genuine hospitality, super skilful staff, even the emails from eye am are sweet and considered. Best of all my haircut still looks good in free-range post-salon conditions. I had a pre-cut consultation with Chelsea followed by a curly cut & treatment. I am amazed at the result, would never have expected to have had such a head of perrfectly defined curls!. Chelsea's advice has allowed me to have a good go at reproducing the result at home with the Clever Curl products. I have never left a hairdressers before feeling like this, I will be back!

My hair stylist Cheery is the sweetest most talent professional I have ever had the pleasure to encounter! I didn’t have much hope coming into it because of my own hair history...but she absolutely made my day! I could t be happier with the results and it feel amazing to know there are professionals out there that cater towards my curly hair!

Lovely salon, loved all he plants and the ethos behind hair composting and products are truly great. Average service, definitely didn't recieve the treatment or haircut I hoped, especially for the price, and was rushed out of there 15min early, still covered in hair. Overall won't be going back but it was worth the try.

Trent did a wonderful lil number on my hair. Loved my time there, the atmosphere was great and the coffee was too. I have frizzy/fluffy hair that never really looks good naturally but Trent managed to give me a low maintenance ‘do that I’m loving. I usually don’t love going to a hairdresser but I’m keen to go back

Had a recommendation from a friend and am always nervous with a new hairdresser. Didn’t need to be, Trent was amazing!! The cut was one of the best I’ve had, and no need to wash or fix my hair when I got home!! Worth paying the extra to get the personal attention and van adds to the experience! Definitely recommend.

Once again the staff make this a beautiful experience. Ellie created a beautiful style and found curls I never knew existed and healed my previous hair trauma. It truely is a pleasure to be in the space. You can not fault the staff, space and experience here. Will always recommend.

Great experience at the Submissive Salon, part of Dark MOFO. Fantastic mystery haircut, luxurious hair washing/treatment/massage. Had my makeup done as well, which was greatly fun though a bit hampered by being done in a rocking trailer under red lights! Loved the look though :)

After not having a haircut for well over a year and having the same hairstyle for more than a decade I decided on a mystery cut. When Trent covered the mirror I got a little scared. But didn’t need to be. Love my new look. It was a delight and easy to spend an hour with Trent.

Chelsea is the best hairdresser I've ever had! She takes the time to talk to me, get to know who I am and what I want with my hair and I always walk out feeling like a new, spunkier man! Her team is also great, and this is a really cool space! Couldn't recommend more highly.

I had the Whole Shebang Cut with Trent. Trent made me feel totally comfortable, and I fully trusted him in giving me a new look that I would love. I was not disappointed at all! Trent was easy to talk to, and gave great advice about my hair. Will definitely be going back.

Chelsea is the best hairdresser I have ever been to. I have been seeing her for over 2 years and have never looked back. She listens to what you want and makes getting your hair did the best experience. She is the coolest chick too and always have a good chat and laugh :)

Really great experience. Kind people, understanding, a safe space to talk about what I wanted and needed, and whether I was comfortable and happy with the result, which is important for me because I get nervous and unassertive at hairdressers. So I 100% recommend.

I’m so pleased with my new cut, thanks to Doris who made me feel instantly comfortable and confident to make a big change. The added bonus was knowing my hair was going to be composted via their worm farm and do some good in the garden. I’ll definitely be back.

Great experience, Trent was excellent and I'm really happy with my cut. He cut it dry and it really worked out. My hair is wavy, trying to be curly - the cut by Trent really lifted it and it has way more bounce and fun now, exactly what I wanted.

Trent was uber friendly and professional and skilfully styled and cut my hair. From the custom built 'tiny' salon, to the cruelty-free products, it all feels very urban, off-grid and organic.. I'll definitely be back!
