Just the best salon in Hobart. Their new salon, which they have just moved to in Murray St, has won an award, presumably for the design. No serried rows of people sitting under driers here. I was in rooms with just one other, for washing and then cutting. There was heaps of space and a feeling of privacy. Unlike many salons, the staff have their own area downstairs, helping to keep them feeling refreshed. Care is taken to use only quality products and minimise use of toxic chemicals. They have combined modern minimalism and understated colours with the old world charm of natural floorboards and pressed metal ceilings. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. It is also very popular. You need to book well ahead to get an appointment with co-owner Dean. All staff, under Dean's tutelage, do stylish and sympathetic cuts and colours. His wife, Catherine, is the design brains behind what we see.

I came away with my hair three shades too dark the first time so went back and they bleach bathed it and then another appointment used foils to try and correct, however my hair was still a mess with patches of light and dark from the permanent foils initially put in. The hairdresser who last tried fixing it moved away and they didn’t bother to call to rebook me, sent a text telling me I was with another stylist which was the last straw for me as I had no trust left. With all the fixing involved I spent 9 hours in two weeks at their salon which was a real juggle with work/child etc. Two months on my hair is still not right after multiple treatments trying to lift the blue (yes dark aqua/blue from the permanent colour) out however my new hair salon has been fantastic about it and we’re getting there. Quite honestly this is the most disappointing hair experience I’ve ever had hence this review.

I got the opposite haircut to the one I requested, and the result looks absolutely terrible. I can't wait for my normal hairdresser (at another salon) to fix it when she is back from leave - sadly still several months away. The hairdresser also said if she blow dried my hair it would just make it frizzy, so i left the salon with wet, unstyled hair. If you can't style wavy hair that is a problem. Also when you're paying $85 for a haircut you expect it to be at least dry and somewhat styled at the end. I was in and out super fast and would have received much better service and a better end result at a salon charging far less for a haircut. Very disappointed :(

Being “hobarts leading salon” I expected much more. I presented to this salon because my hair was in terrible need of a makeover. I thought I would be getting 5 star professional service. Although the staff are extremely lovely I feel I was managed in a poor way and my products and treatments conflicted with each other which I should of been advised of in the first instance. After paying hundreds and still not being satisfied with the outcome I was quite devastated. I gave up in the end and went to a different hair dresser!

The Jakadjari girls are all beautiful (special mention to Liv). She offered and managed to fit me in on a completely booked out day and fixed my hair after another salon made an absolute disaster out of it. She made me completely relaxed and comfortable about how she was going to fix it and even offered me a wine (WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR). I left feeling a million dollars. The new salon is incredible, such a great experience. Chelsea Saint.

The best hair salon ever! I don’t know if everyone there is great but I can say that for Mimi. This is the best haircut and hair colour that I ever had in my life. Before this salon I went to two more expensive and famous ones, thinking that I will get good service but they don’t treat on same way regular customers and new ones . Here, I was the first time and I got the best service. Thank you Mimi, you are the best!

Had a great first cut, colour and style experience here prior to my holiday to Japan! Got the hair cut /style I didn't even really know I needed as it has made me feel completely refreshed, relaxed and ready to have fun travelling. Have had numerous compliments as it was quite a length change (even father-in-law noticed and approved). Finding a great place that cares is so important. Will definitely be back!

This is the best Salon I've tried in Australia. Great ambition, fair value, professional staff, and the best quality products. Attiana is one of the hair goddesses and a colour wizard! She is very professional while it is really hard to turn my Middle Eastern hair to the colour I want but she always impresses me with her work. Highly recommend this place.

What a beautiful salon. Staff are so friendly, skilful and passionate about giving you the best experience. Drew is an excellent listener with a keen eye for detail and subtlety. She is so talented at what she does. In all honesty, I left my appointment feeling happier than I’ve ever felt after a hair appt before :)

I have seen Claire at Jakadjari for around 15 years. Her service and skills are second to none and I always leave feeling amazing. On top of that it is the only salon in Hobart with an outstanding fit-out courtesy of the amazing design skills of the owner, Catherine. Don't go anywhere else!

Absolutely awesome service every time! And fit me in last minute which was great. I've had different hairdressers there and they're all fabulous. Today's cut and colour was by India and she's super knowledgeable and listens to what you want and gets it spot on.

I have been having my hair cut and coloured here for years, and long may it continue. Talented, friendly stylists, modern, chic salon, and while it is expensive (as I have very long hair), it is worth every cent.

I won't be able to make any comment as the staff of this salon have got my hair to get it tested for bleaching and ... last November however they haven't even replied back to me. Absolutely disappointing!

I chose ashy balayage but after colouring process my hair is yellow orange golden and ashy…. (Without washing hair!) the reason is that she didnt bleach my hair professionally. Not happy !
