I am a male, I wish to make a hair donation, So I went to the cancer council victoria website to see how to make a hair donation, and the website say there is a Sustainable Salons at Hobart name Sfumato hair salon. However I never plait my hair, so I just cut my hair and tight with a elastic band and bring it over today. when I get there, one of the hair designer (male, relatively elderly, long hair) I believe his name is wayne, said to me in a very aggressive attitude " is this your hair ?" I said " yes" he than said " you need to plait the hair and prepare it the right way and bring it over, because it takes time and effort for us to do it and it will cost you 25$ plus posting fee, if you don't want it you can just leave". while he is saying this one of the staff has already finish plaiting half of the hair (1 minutes job) I have to say it is ridiculous, all i want is just to make a hair donation he could have teach me how to plait or other options. But instead he used a passive aggressive way of saying " tell me to get out the shop". The attitude from the designer was very bad, I feels like I am not even welcome in. To be honest, I was thinking to make a hair cut there after a while, however, I feel I will never want to go in there again. In the past few days I have been telling to my friends there is a very nice hair salon that is doing the collection for hair donation, I encourage all my friends to support the shop, before I had any service there. But after enter into the salon today, I feel very regretted encouraging my friends to go there, not only the bad attitude plus the service, it cost 25$ to plait 5 small pony tail that cost like 3 minutes to complete. If that is the case, why would the website label it is a "Sustainable Salons for hair donation in hobart"??? once again, ridiculous and unbelievable.

I have moved down from Launceston and needed a place I could go to that is high end and that I could trust with my hair, I hadn't been to a salon because of this reason for at least 16 months. First appointment was a hair cut, this was an amazing cut, my hair felt so much better. Then I booked for a colour, my hair is very grey in the roots and due to using boxy through covid I also needed a cleanse. The cleanse work wonderfully. The colour not so much! I walked out with roots 3 shades lighter over an inch from the scalp, then much deeper from there down. I did notice they were lighter but put it down to the lighting in the salon. This was not the case. The quality of this hair color was extremely poor. Banding is very visible which was why I had the cleanse. I can't even put my hair up because of the contrast. At $240 I would have expected high-quality colour, and a senior stylist doing my hair. Instead I had an apprentice apply the colour. I myslef could tell it wasn't processing to what it should have. As much as I enjoyed the friendly staff and experience, I do not think I will be back.

Worst haircut experience i've ever had. not sure how they can call themselves the best salon in Hobart. Walking in, hoping to receive a friendly welcoming service, i get snobed by a tired hairdresser who clearly doesn't feel like having another client on her hands. Wishing for something new and fresh, i came out of there with the worst cut possible, just cuts would've done a hundred times better and $50 cheaper. Wasn't worth my money one bit. We all enjoy a nice shampoo scalp massage don't we? Well of course, at least that could've been right. But no she was so brute with my hair that it actually hurt. No joke, i felt as if she wished to pull my hair out while wringing them. Regret being too polite in situations like that to say something. Paying extra for what they claim to be an artistic approach from a creative stylist, I received a shockingly plain unexciting and frankly terrible haircut that wasn't worth my time or money. I could've cut my hair better myself. I am sorry but no thanks Sfumato.

This is the worst hair saloon i have been to, I went there last week to colour my hairs for the first time initially i had consultation with christy and have told her about my concerns on grey hairs she told me that they will fix it and then on the day of colouring my hair it was done by jess which expected that she would have covered my grey hairs but when they wash it was not covered and when i call them on next day they told me to come again and they did black dye on that part and even after that grey hairs were still not covered and the blow dry which they did was soo not professional and at the end they told me that they will not charge for black dye as you have spend $220 on hair colour i was like dude you dint even covered my grey hairs and giving me false hope they your hairs are looking amazing this place is not good if you are looking for colouring your hairs will not recommend to anyone.

This salon is good to go to for the experience. NOT the quality of hairdressers. Not only have they missed colour in parts of my hair but it also looks NOTHING like the 3 pictures I showed the staff. Also, when at the salon I mentioned it doesn't look like the photos, they said it does look similar and gave me compliments. As a week has passed my hair has faded and I've noticed the missed patches. When I called to complain they said they only wouldn't charge if there was a blatant mistake. The whole hair is a mistake, I wasnt happy in the salon which I paid $260 for and it being for my birthday. The drink service was on cute little trays, the hair wash basin also came with a massage chair - amazing. Quality of service - mediocre. Although the staff are polite, I wouldn't recommend getting your hair coloured here. Bought a box dye so I can atleast fix the colour slightly myself.

I really want to like this salon, as everyone who works here is so lovely and fun to be around. But I’ve been in three times over the years, and every time leave with that sinking feeling you get after a cut you know looks awful. I asked for a shoulder length cut (I had very long hair), but ended up with a bob that sits at my ears. That’s quite a few inches shorter than what I asked for. The hairdresser started at the back without confirming the length I wanted before he began (which seems unusual?) so by the time he got to the side where I could see how short he was cutting it, it was too late. I’m not picky about my hair and have pretty simple needs, so it probably says quite a lot that I’m upset - and I’ve rarely had trouble at other salons. Every time I leave Sfumato I try to remember that I mustn’t go back. Hopefully leaving this review will remind me for next time!

Wayne and his team are always welcoming and take the time to listen, give feedback, provide information (including after care) and ensure your happy with the outcome, even when you go in with no idea what exactly it is your wanting. The salon is vibrant, friendly and not a bit stuffy as you might expect from a place with so many awards and accolades. Whilst just about always busy it’s still a relaxing environment which is great if your in for a colour, massage chairs and quality head massages complete the experience. Joanna is always lovely, welcoming and accommodating and really the perfect start to your appointment. Definitely recommend you give the Sfumato team a try if your looking for a new salon, I’m sure you’ll have you very own favourites from the extensive and experienced staff in no time!

I have highligh my hair before i went a trip abroad. After the first wash, my hair colour was half gone.My hair colour was totally gone, even before a week. I couldn't contact them at that time due to expensive to call from there.As soon I arrived I inform the situation and they ask me to come to the salon and show my hair to the person who did it. I went there and he check my hair.The person from the management was not there and I ask him to give me a call next day and after that no one contacted me.After spending more than $300 I am very disappointed with them. Top of that my hair is falling enormously. But the staff is friendly. I will not recommend anyone to go there..very disappointed..

I made an appointment for a style and cut on a Monday afternoon, at 11:30am on Monday, they cancelled my appointment and offered for me to have it done “another day”. I didn’t even know a hair salon could cancel your appointment! I am devastated, it was my sisters wedding on Tuesday morning and I live a 3 hr drive rural out of Hobart (I’m from Strahan on the west coast) so it was impossible for me to find a haircut for that day in a place as small and beauty-appointment-lacking as Hobart. You guys totally ruined how I looked for my sisters wedding and now I have to look at my split ended, terrible hair in all the wedding photos. This salon is unreliable and below basic standards!

Love love my hair. Haircuts and colour have always been on point since the first time I visited Sfumato. Sumaira did an absolutely amazing job on the bayalage and not just that she explains on each and every step of the colouring process which is amazing because client like us have no clue. She gave lots of tips on how to maintain hair colour, moisture ect. I saw alot of bad reviews on hair colour fading and stuff but I think this is partly because customers don't ask questions on how to care for them or how often to wash them and don't heed hairdresser's advise. I'm pretty sure the guys at Sfumato are more than happy to answer questions and give tips to their clients.

I want to share my excellent experience in the SFUMATO salon. I arrived in Hobart just for only a few days with my husband. And absolutely spontaneously decided to change something in my hairstyle. I am very glad that I met the hair artist Demelza. Beautiful girl, and a great professional. Very creative and talented. She made me a very beautiful haircut and hair coloring. I am very happy with my new hairstyle and my husband looks at me with admiration) Thanks so much, Demelza, for such beautiful changes in my life and style! Great job!!! Staff were incredibly kind and accommodating after I messed up my appointment time. Sam listened intently to what I was after and treated me like a VIP squeezing me in and staying back (on a Friday evening!) to ensure my hair was perfectly cut and styled. Lux products and an incredible wash and scalp massage by Keeley. Hilarious banter with Rick and the loveliest and kindest lady (can’t remember name sorry) who greeted me and provided refreshments. Such a lovely vibe among staff and clients. My first time here and you absolutely have a loyal customer. Thanks! ❤️

Most amazing place I've ever been. They fixed a botched job from another salon where my hair was patchy brown, orange, yellow all during a desperate walk-in appointment they were fully booked but fit me in on the spot because of how bad my hair was, they managed to get it all to one solid colour before making it the most amazing orange colour. It looked like something you would see on a fashion model or on the runway! It cost just as much as the place that ruined my hair in the first place and I was expecting much more! Absolutely amazing.

I have always been happy with visiting Sfumato. I have been a client for a number of years and I have always loved how my hair has looked afterwards. The customer service is extremely friendly and I always enjoy chatting with whomever is doing my hair on the day. The hair stylists always go out of their way to make me feel comfortable, whether it is that extra coffee or extra time spent on the massage chair. After committing to regular appointments this year, my hair has grown more, felt healthier, and the foils are blending beautifully.

As a tourist in need of some pampering, I researched hairdressers to find a salon that would be able to fill the bill until my return to my regular stylist. Reviews showed that Sfumato was well regarded and how true they were. From my arrival I was treated well by the team, with attention to my comfort and I came away with an excellent cut by Rick. Highly recommend this salon if you are at all aprehensive about an unknown stylist cutting your hair.

I had my hair cut by Rick - and it was the best cut I've ever recieved - not to mention the service was sensational. All the staff took good care of both me and my partner (who wasn't even getting anything done) by offering us drinks and making us feel welcome. Despite being more expensive than I'm used to, the experience was worth every cent - and I would recommend these guys to anyone wanting a haircut or treatment.

Visiting Sfumato for the first time, I was lucky to get an appointment with Samaira for a colour and cut. Not only did she give me the beautiful colour that I described and a lovely shape that I needed, she also educated me about how to better care for my hair in the long term. I just LOVE LOVE this place, look I must say it's not the cheapest but let me tell you, you pay for the environment the experience and the hairstylist!! So this makes it 100000% worth it in my books and you know the saying you get what you pay for! I always leave happy and so refreshed. Though my stylists have changed over the years, each has gotten to understand me and my hair and I always look forward to my next appointment, especially now I'm with Christi who is just fabulous. ten out of ten,, i saw kasey to get my hair done, one of the kindest, sweetest most genuine and gentle person i have ever met. she’s a creative mastermind and i have never been so happy with my hair in my life! the whole salon environment was so warm and welcoming, all the stylists were so lovely and willing to help out. i couldn’t see myself going to a different salon again.

Absolutely love Sfumato! They give amazing service, great cuts and colour and I always know I'm going to leave with a style I love. Huge shout out to the amazing Sumaica who not only fixed my dry, neglected and damaged hair but took the time to teach me how to look after it properly. I have curly hair so I have to be very particular about where I get my hair done and Sfumato did the most amazing jobwhen I took a seat to get my hair done, they instantly offered me a drink and it was absolutely lovely, all of the staff is so kind. Worse hair cut ever and expensive. Math did my hair and it really looked like it has been eaten by rats! Ironically that is the way I felt after the rats took my money! I have been to other hairdressers in Hobart never as bad. I won't recommend this place. Owner Wayne is arrogant and unhelpful.

I managed to grab a last minute appointment on a Friday morning to have a wash and blow dry style. The service was amazing, incredibly well priced, my hair looked great and as a tourist I was lucky enough to receive the Hobart insider knowledge! Will definitely return next time I’m in town.

Excellent service from the moment I walked in the door. Bronte was friendly, efficient and chose a wonderful colour for my hair. I was impressed by the over all service considering how busy it was (all 20 chairs were full) and the herbal tea was a good quality tea brand and super delicious.

Great hairdressers and very professional and friendly service. You feel well looked after and, in my experience at least, guaranteed a great haircut. I'm giving four stars instead of five because it's quite expensive, but if you can afford it I would definitely recommend it

Visiting Hobart a couple of weeks ago a friend and I were fortunate enough to get a last minute appointment. The staff were all fantastic and there was a great vibe amongst staff and customers. My hair looks great too! I might time my Tassie visits with my hair cuts :)

2 days after I went in for a colour touch up, the colour faded from the ends even after I had come with pre-bleached hair. After a few weeks, the shot of permanent colour they promised would stay on my hair has faded to the way it was before I went in. Waste of money

Such a busy salon but they seem to manage well and still give that personal attention and make you feel comfy. I have been seeing Rebekah and I'm very happy with her service and advice, she does an amazing job for my type of heavy, thick hair. Would recommend 11/10.

I've been going to Sfumato since they were on The Mole in the early 2000s, lovely owners, really high quality hair dressing. Any time I've had to go anywhere else my cowlicks and crowns have been ignored. These guys know everyone's hair is different.
