In the world of hit-and-miss cafes that are found in West Brunswick, this is a very palpable hit. This is a funky little cafe, a great food range and excellent coffee. The ricotta pancakes made a killer late breakfast, and the rest of their range of breakfast/brunch & snack/lunch foods looked tasty (I especially noted an organic beef burger on their lunch specials). The interior is well laid-out with a couple of long communal tables and plenty of little 2-to-4 person settings. I love that there's room for a few comfy double-couch groups, and a sweet little sitting area out the back. There are tables out the front on the footpath too. The vibe is pitch-perfect Brunswick: quiet indie folk piped throughout, comfortable, relaxed. We dropped by at the change of shift between breakfast and lunch customers: quiet for a Saturday but I'm wildly happy to have a cafe within walking range where the odds of getting a table are good. Places like this are increasingly rare in Brunswick; worth their weight in gold. The staff were super friendly, the service was warm and efficient. I'm disappointed to see that some of Brunswick's Yummy Mummy Brigade have posted very negative reviews - looks to me like the cafe owners have acted on behalf of their patrons so that the space can be fairly shared by all. All the more reason for me to give these people my custom! When this cafe re-opens after it's 2011/2012 Christmas break, please pay them a visit and ensure that West Brunswick holds on to a great cafe.

Surprisingly good experience at Factory. Discrete cafe on Victoria Street that is large and accommodating on the inside. Menu is simple with classic breakfast and sandwich offerings, good staples for lunchtime. Ordered the beef burger which tasted fresh and had a homemade feel which I liked. Patty tasted like it was made by hand and was cooked well. Chippies on the side were ultra fresh and crisp. Chicken burger was good, chicken could of perhaps used a touch more seasoning. Coffee was so so. Good for large groups and can accommodate multiple prams which is handy. Excellent value for money, and reasonable prices especially considering the prices associated with the cafe scene these days! Dishes going for $18 or so, which is great

An anti-bull$#!t cafe. Good food, good coffee, great service. Standard cafe fare done simply and really really well! Menu is full of staples, but the serving size and quality is fantastic! If you want porridge you won't have to order: "The Ancient grain porridge with a triple berry coulis, peanut butter whip, caramelised banana, pistachio crumble and organic rose infused honey drizzle, served in a handcrafted clay pot." You'll get porridge with some seasonal fruit and honey. And it will be creamy, oaty, hot and comforting. The fruit will be fresh and juicy. It will be exactly what you ordered. There will not be surprise garnishes. It will be a hearty serve in a bowl. It will be DELICIOUS. After good simple delicious food? After decent value? After a good coffee? You found the place.

I feel at home at Factory Cafe Bar. The food is yummy and affordable, the music is eclectic and lovely (sometimes jazz, sometimes The Beatles, I've even heard Elvis once!), and Sam is always kind and welcoming. I love working from here, and their free wi-fi works very well. Unlike the pretentious hipster bars from around the Inner North, Factory Cafe Bar is a place to eat well and feel comfortable at the same time. I've tried most of the things in the menu, and liked them all. The lasagna is excellent, and the vegan one pan is great too! Same with the steak and the vegetarian sandwich: both are filling and delicious.

if you want the home away from home experience with some yummy food and drink, look no further than Factory Cafe. Sam looks after you like family when you're there and the experience is always good.

I love Factory Cafe for its family friendly atmosphere, nostalgic fit-out and relaxed tunes. They cater well for vegans and vegetarians and use a variety of milk alternative. Sam and Vin treat their customers very well and bring a homely hospitality to what is normally a fast-paced get-em-in-get-em-out industry. Even if I moved out of Brunswick I would come back to visit Factory Cafe.

I hit every cafe in Brunswick before discovering Factory and making it my local. Aside from the great coffee and food, Sam at front of house is the man - a total representation of the relaxed, family vibe at Factory. Great aesthetic, which includes a wall plastered with family photos from the old country and classic pop-art from simpler times. The courtyard out back is great too, can’t wait to dine in again soon.

Lovely ricotta pancakes served with the whole bottle of maple syrup on the side. Coffee was "Sydney style" rather than "Melbourne style" but nothing wrong with it. The place itself feels a bit like your nan's sitting room or kitchen, in a welcoming homely way. Service was local and friendly. The new owners have lived in the area for decades and just took the place on, go say hi and check the place out.

Tried entering this place yesterday but staff member was not helpful as I showed my vaccination certs on my phone email.He rudely pointed at photos of self-check-ins and insisted saying he would be fined. Then, he walked away. I am a Singaporean and a teacher.I walked away upset and disappointed with such behaviour. I don't think this place is welcoming to all international travellers.

Such a warm and friendly place. Have visited a few times. Totally accommodating of twins too! They moved furniture, brought over 2 high chairs and plastic cups etc before i had a chance to ask. It's always hard to take toddlers (x2) to eateries but this place was great!

Popped in here this morning for a coffee before the gym. What a great place, homely and retro cool at the same time, great coffee and friendly people. Was lucky enough to get a spot at the window on a super comfy couch! Amazing way to start the day :)

A little gem of a joint! It has "good space" to read papers and mags. Relaxing music, quite a number of patrons enjoying their foods, that I am eager to try next time. Menu appeals big time! Great coffee, nice folks -this is why I come to Melbourne!!
