This place is ok but the manager they hired to run the place is not a good fit for the position they gave him, he's really passionate about flipping your day upside down negatively and making you hate the place and not wanting to come back, literally no customer service skills whatsoever. I'll speak about my horrible experience that I had to face with the manager there, incase their's more than one manager there, I'm talking about the overweight guy. I went to shop there last night and bought 2 lights and something for the bathroom, before I paid for the items I did ask the girl about if I can return the lights incase they didn't work because I wasn't sure if this light would work to plug it in, and she said yes if they didn't work you could return them and that's it she didn't specify anything else, she didn't go in depth about the policy or how they only give store credit, she only said "yes you can return it". First thing in the morning today I went to return them coz they didn't work and I was there exactly when they opened at 11 am. It was a long process to do the return, they first sent me to the back then the back staff gave me a paper to go to the front cashier and after waiting for a while with the front cashier, she handed me store credit around $90 on a card as a refund, so I told her rightaway I want a refund like my actual money not store credit, so she had to call the manager and that's when it all went down hill. As soon as that manager came he rightaway said he can't do the refund and insisted that his staff informs every client about the policy, and kept telling me no my staff informed you and we can't give you a refund only store credit, I begged him, I tried to be so nice and explain him to please refund me even tho I explained him that I wasn't advices about that policy otherwise I would've not bought them and he still said that the staff did advise me of the policy and like no matter what I say he was just stubborn and not trying to refund me, so then I picked up signals off of that guy, clearly he's got a problem with himself and he just enjoys getting people worked up so when I realized he's that type of guy and their's no way he wants to refund me, I left and called factory direct head office explained them what happened and they asked me about my receipt number and then vóala they said that's not a big deal, it hasn't even been 24 hours you bought this item, and advised me to just go back and they'll send him a message to refund me. So when I went back, he apparently recieved that message and got the cashier to do the refund for me while he's standing. Before I left I said to him, I just want to give you a peaceful advice, please stay positive and their's no need to make people's lives harder and for him to be nicer to the next customer he deals with. He literally laughed in my face like I was a joke so I said to him, I could've reacted differently and cuss you out but instead I decided to remain positive about it and instead I gave you a peaceful positive advice and he laughed again like I'm a joke. That guy is extremely disrespectful and shouldn't be in a managerial position period.

My FIRST and LAST time buying anything from FACTORY DIRECT.. Although the product purchased (4 Bicycle Hoist) was as described. Factory direct return policy leaves a lot of customers out of pocket for the expense if the product is not broken or defective. I purchased 4 bicycle hoists however, one of my family member also purchased the same products. Therefore, I did not require an additional 4 hoists. Upon trying to return the extra hoists, I was informed that their return policy excluded unused or unopened items without missing or defects parts. This made absolutely no sense to me, unless the business model behind FACTORY DIRECT is to leave their consumers carrying their inventory at the client's expense. I can guarantee you this was my first and last time purchasing anything from FACTORY DIRECT. Update: Review Written 36 min ago After submitting my review, I wrote directly to the online customer service representative. I explained my situation as indicated above in my original review, Ashley, the consumer representative was fantastic. Ashley took my receipt number and wrote to the store directly who has now been advised to issue a refund for my unopened and undamaged hoists. I will be returning the items directly to the store. However, I also provided some pointed feedback regarding their return policy. Which was to have their sales representative advise the customer of the return policy, or have it posted for all to see. Therefore, from that point onward any purchases would be done at the risk of the customer. My review rating will now be modified to reflect the consumer representative Ashley assistance with my return. Although my issue was resolved I had to jump through too many hoops to get was a pretty straight forward return. Common sense goes a long way in resolving most issue and the lack of that same sense creates unnecessary issues. Final Update on Factory 16:12hrs Oct 14/2022 Although Ashley, from FACTORY Direct's head office resolved my issue expeditiously and the boxes returned were unopened. The manager still gave me a difficult time refunding the bicycle hoist purchased on Oct 6. Therefore, I am dropping my review rating from 3 to 2 stars. Simply based on my interaction with the manager, who treated me as if I stole 4 bicycle hoists and was returning it with a stolen credit card. I would not recommend the Ottawa location on Donald as a place to shop based upon my experience. Now that I know factory direct policy, I would recommend paying a little more in price with the ability to return my purchase without issue from Canadian Tire. While being treated with the dignity and respect afford all customers.

My first and last experience using Factory Direct. I ordered something for the very first time and went with for the sole purpose of picking up my item. I walked in and was abruptly told that I had to leave my "backpack" which was actually my purse at the cash before entering. I explained that it was my purse and that it contained my wallet and my personal things. I was told that I could take my wallet out and leave it ? I again advised that I was not comfortable leaving my "purse" at the desk and questioned whether every customer had to leave their purse at the desk? The staff member advised me that my bag was not a purse, it was a backpack? My "backpack" is a small black leather bag that is no bigger and in fact smaller than many of the purses people carry. I advised the staff that if they were concerned that I would steal something that they could escort me back to the pickup desk. All the while I was on the phone with my daughter who heard the entire exchange. She was horrified at the way I was being spoken to, not by one but by 3 staff members. When I was responding to a question my daughter had asked I was told by my "escort" that I didn't need to keep talking about it as he had escorted me. He then proceeded to argue with me about the fact that my bag was not a purse. I didn't realize Factory Direct staff members were also qualified fashion historians. But there you have it. I was then asked for ID and I asked why the email confirmation I showed him was not sufficient. I was advised by yet another staff member that it was because of identity theft? Huh? Ok? So I order and pay for an item on-line, make the trip to the store with my confirmation email, advise the staff what the item was and was and yet he wanted my ID because I might be an identity thief? I felt like a criminal from the moment I entered the place. I advised the staff I would be escalating my concerns and filing a complaint. I was then approached by the assistant manager who suggested that I didn't need to escalate as I could speak to him. I voiced the same concerns I had previously expressed and questioned the legality of forcing customers to leave their purses at the cash. He was of no service other than to further upset and offend me. The entire experience at this location was so offensive to my sensibilities. I felt attacked and ganged up on by 3 staff members when all I simply wanted to do was pick up an on-line order. The entire interaction and experience with staff at this location was extremely stressful and upsetting and I would NOT recommend this location.

Extremely rude employees working there. It almost looks like the management condones their behaviour on the level of rudeness that goes on. I went in and bought a HDMI cable for my aunt. Didn't notice it was a different connector on the other end so I went to return it. It was never opened. Came back to the store and asked the cashier if I can return the unopened cable I JUST bought. She said "Sure, just go to the back and the guy there will get you to fill out a form so we can give you "store credit"... Wasn't keen on store credit but they might have had something else I needed or wanted. So I go to the back and it was full of broken boxes everywhere and very filthy. I didn't see anyone so I knocked on the window frame politely asking "is anyone back there?". A badly dressed long haired hipster style guy with gauged ears and tattoos everywhere came to me and rudely said "If you would read the sign it would say for you to go to the cell section"... Well there wasn't a sign nearby because it got knocked off by all the boxes so clearly I never noticed it. So I did what he told me to and went to the cell phone counter but nobody was there. I ended up waiting for over 30 minutes (no lie) while I went to the friendly cashier asking if he could be paged. When he finally came back he told me he would need permission from the manager to make a return... Apparently the manager was the rude long haired loser that was condescending to me and refused to do the return because "I was not nice to him". I told him that's not a valid reason to refuse to return a paying customer's item. He then said "Well you opened the packaging and we don't take opened returns". He proceeded to open the packaging to back up his claim then points to the receipt saying "read this, it said I can refuse to return anything I want if I deem it so". Cant believe someone would have to be this miserable to do this to someone else... I left very insulted and called their 1-800 line. The lady fixed it up but didn't take my complaint seriously. In the end I got my return and ended up giving it to a friend and warned him. A few weeks later he got similar grief from the same employee... He will not be returned too. The issue is that this guy that works there must just be pissed off at life. Most likely a high school drop out and this is the best he can do for work since he has no education and made bad life choices by getting dumb tattoos and gauged ears. Maybe he should apply himself more and better things will come...

I pre ordered it over the phone and went to pick up. Girl at back gave me the item and I went to front to pay. Kaylee, the green haired cashier told me she couldn't sell to me because I wasn't wearing a mask, I told her I have medical exemption and it was against the law to deny me service based on medical conditions. She called the manager Veronica to the front, where Veronica told me I had to show her proof of my medical exemption, I told her I did not have to show proof and pointed her to the Ottawa By Law POSTED ON THEIR FRONT DOOR, she then told me she could do whatever she wanted as it was "her store", then she told me I had to wear a face shield in place of a mask, I told her I didn't have that either...she said if I wanted to buy there I had to have a mask or face shield, knowing I would have to wait 2 days to get my item from Amazon because it was Sunday, I asked Veronica if Factory Direct sold face shields there, she said they did and I bought one so I could buy my item. There's more to this story and a complaint has been filed with their Head Office, Veronica and Kaylee are 2 of the most obnoxious, ill informed, rude customer service people I've ever met, if the owner of this store had any sense, he would fire them both for this kind of behaviour towards Factory Direct customers. Funny thing about this story is I was replacing the broken monitor adaptor I bought from Factory direct a couple of months earlier...stay away from Factory Direct Donald st., the products are prone to breakage because most of the stuff is refurbed and the management are rude, aggressive buffoons who have no problem attacking people with medical conditions.

Save yourself the headache and shop elsewhere. Not worth shopping here or even returning merchandise to the Donald Street Ottawa location. I've tried to be optimistic but frankly, ***this locations Manager and return staff are just super shady and unethical***. I never have issues in Toronto locations but to be told today that they don't have to honour anything that the Toronto stores says is just dowright wrong. The worst part of this store is the people that work there. They knew they were supposed to honour at least a store credit but refused to do it on an unused(new item), and to add insult to injury when I told them I would complain online and to their head office they retorted "go right ahead we don't care" and showed further contempt by mockingly yelling back "have a nice day", this type of behaviour shows the manager and staff at the return counter are passive agressive and socially inept if they feel the need to show clientes their schadenfreude characteristics. Honestly...this location should be permanantly shut down. These people shouldnt be allowed to work anywhere if they treat clients this way. I have no doubt that anyone that gives this location raving reviews is either the staff or friends of the staff.

This is a great place to get a great deal but buyer beware. They do not do refunds. You can get a store credit. Make sure your product works. If you cant, and there is a problem, dont be rude or you will get no where with them. Be reasonable, ask questions and you can get a really great deal. I have been going to them for years and have saved lots of money. I bought a keyboard today. It doesnt work. I will go back tomorrow, I will be polite and bring my receipt and packaging, and they will replace it or give me a store credit. I know this is the process because I asked questions a long time ago. They have always replaced my defective items. Most stuff is refurbished, although not all. Sometimes referbished stuff doesnt work. If you cant deal with veing polite, If you cant deal with bringing in your receipt and packaging. If you cant deal with an exchange or store credit when something is defective, DONT SHOP HERE, BUT,,,, If you have to be rude, im sure they would rather you go somewhere else too. I have dealt with the manager, Cory many times when I used to buy almost every Palm Pre they had, and he and his employees have always been friendly with me. Rudeness begates rudeness. Kindness in turn brings kindness.

Left a TV on March 9th for work order. Came in two weeks later to check on the status of the work order. New ASM (gentleman with a pony tail) said it was being shipped back but couldn't offer any information on the repair or what had been fixed. Story didn't line up, so I called the customer service rep and was told the TV was still sitting in the Ottawa store. Went back on March 27th and the same ASM lied again about the status of the work order. My partner asked why he continued to tell her half truths instead of being honest - mistakes happen, just be honest about the problem. My partner went on to say that if we continue down this path she would be contacting Head Office and the sales associate on the counter dared her to go ahead and call, scoffing at her. We were told that as soon as the TV was offloaded from the shipment we would receive a call. A day after the shipment arrived we got a call, no voicemail or message to indicate anything. Thankfully, we were given a free six month bump up warranty to smooth over the issue. The young man who assisted us today was WONDERFUL and the new manager as well.

The service is bad and the customer service is horrible. Yesterday i saw a women asking to return her high blood pressure machine but the girl in customer service was arrogant with her. The lady explained to her that the machine doesn't work correctely but she didn't want to listen after that lady threw the machine, the girl asked her manager to come but the manager was so rude he didn't try to understand or listen to the lady and he threatened to call the police. It was ridiculous and most of the customers were suprised. I saw the lady outside waiting for the police, shortly after this incident, i swore to myself never to come back to this place. At home i also thought about that if the lady had high blood pressure and the numbers weren't accurate. She could have easily died or went to hopsital if it was serious. This is extremely unprofessional for a shop and is a health hazard for people suffering with high blood pressure.

My elderly mother bought a mop from them two days ago and went in today to return it or at least get credit considering she lost the receipt she called head office and they found her receipt but the manager and her disgusting behaviour should be fired from the Donald street location for her disgusting customer service refused to give my mother a credit or to serve my poor mother! My mother called the police and they were shocked as well at the behaviour of factory directs customer service!!!!! Unfortunately they couldn't do anything because it was a civil matter. I have never heard of such horrible nasty customer service from ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! SHAME ON THAT MANAGER AND HER EMPLOYEES!!! It's a great place to shop. Most of the complaints you read on here are based on misinformation on the return policy or the customer not understanding that you get what you pay for. A $70 tablet will never work as well as a $300 tablet. Your 2009 laptop may be a higher processor than the $200 laptop you bought. The antenna you buy isn't guaranteed to pick up channels because that's based on your location and area. None of this is the store's fault. It's your own for not knowing what you're buying and for not learning the return policy, like a responsible person does. Also flipping your lid at the staff or being a general jerk doesn't help your case either. The management and staff are more inclined to help you in whatever way they can if you're calm and LISTEN to what they're saying. They don't make the rules, they have to follow them.

-5 stars One they were very ride and also we bought a TV from then a Seiko 32 for $180 and the guy took it out to show us and when he put it back in the box he dropped it and it broke when we asked if we could get another one he said no and walked away when we got home and took the TV out to check it was broken so we called the store and talked to the manager Jason who was extreamly rude to us and told us to call head office which we did and they told us they weren't gonna do anything but they would check the camera and get back to us we waited two days and finally when they called back they said nothing happened and too not contact them again. So if you want horrible service and the chance of walking away with a broken item from a store this is your best place.

if i could give 0 stars to this compagny i would i bought a tv last week and it was tested but then i got home and there was a pressure mark on my tv its sad because i use to work there... we dont know how the pressure mark got there couldve been when it was being repacked by the compagny who knows.... but regional manager mike and manager from donald celine blamed us for the breakage of the tv and were so quickly to say no . do not buy anything electronic im sorry to say but when they say 100% customer satisfaction well guess what you guys do nothing to help my husband and i have been telling all our friends to write bad reviews about your company !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use to love this place too much but not anymore. I bought a device that i can use at the bathroom and I was told that if it doesn't work you can return it and get store credits. I purchased it and I checked it out but it was not working properly. I went back right away to the store to return it. Anothe employee went to the manager and the manager was so rude and disrespectful and he refused to gave me a store credit and give instade the the same product. I don't suggest you to buy any device if you are not sure about it otherwise you will get chance to meet that manager when you return it and you will feel bad because he will not respect you as other managers in other stores do .

If I could give zero stars I would. My husband and I were out shopping near the Donald street Ottawa location this morning and decided to stop in..The door was open so we assumed the store was open...Nope. Some young girl started screaming at us from the back storage area, screaming that the store was not open yet...First off, if your store isn't open, shouldn't your door be locked? And who hires these childish screaming little divas who have no sense of respect for customers? Seriously...screaming at customers? What? Did we interrupt you on your cell phone? Too bad..we will never shop there again and will warn our friends and colleagues to stay away too. Unprofessional.

It's about 3 times now that Factory Direct has left us unsatisfied. My mother bought two antennas here, both don't work and I bought my computer here for my birthday and it is incredibly low quality. My broken laptop from 2009 that's out of date is faster and can run more things than that PC can. I advise potential customers to be wary as the staff may try and tell you that you can refund but it's not true. My mother was told she could refund the antenna she purchased but when asking why they refused to refund it, the manager himself hung up on her. I don't recommend this store at all. Save your money and go elsewhere.

We ordered a tv online and decided to pick it up since the shipping was way too expensive. I made the ride and even rent a trailer since it was a 75". We arrive there and they decided to test the tv in front of me. The TV had burned marked all over the edge and they didn't test it before I come. I was disappointed. However I have to say the manager was a nice girl and was very kind. I would've liked at least a direct replacement or something similar or even a discount. Next time, order another one and ship it to my house for free and I wouldn't mind if it was tested.

Absolutely love this store location!! Everyone is polite and very helpful! i I was in there the other day and I was asked if i there was anything in particular i was looking for and when the staff wasn't sure ( after looking on the shelf) he promptly asked a manager and she went very quickly to the back to grab the coffee maker i was looking for!!! At the cash, the cashier very clearly explained the return policy and warranties and also mentioned that it was on the back of the receipt if needed! 5 Stars and more to this Factory Direct location

It's great for prices but most items are remanufactured and unless on sale not much of a better price than regular without ever being repaired. Store is clean for the most part and is adhering to covid regulations. It would be nice however to see a bit more flow at the cash registers during the busy times in the store. We waited almost 20 minutes for 1 family to move past the mask section when that was where we ourselves needed to be. Some better layouts or additional hygiene/ covid/germ protection displays would be best

If i could give this horrible place no stars i would. BUYERS BEWARE ...DO NOT BUY FROM THERE. Please do yourself the favor and buy somewhere else. Bought an air conditioner that didn't work, on top of that all the brand labels where scratched off and sharpied off...ummm shady!?! I tried to return it the next day and the "customer service " told me it was my fault that it was broken. They do not honour their return policy. And the staff treated me horribly. Customer service is absolutely pathetic at this store.

I have been to the store many times including just last week making an $80 purchase.Always uncomfortably tight for an electric wheelchair.Today however everything changed they made the first aisle wider and filled the middle across aisles with stuffSo therefore you cannot get to anywhere passed the first right out of that main aisleYou're basically you go in you turn right and then your forced out. Not that great of a place honestly. The place needs to be spruced up big time, its a bit messy. The options for tech are scarce in certain categories. The employee was telling a customer before me that most of their iPads were so outdated software-wise that they couldn't even connect to Apple servers to update anymore, meaning they're bricked. You can't install anything or sign in. Why sell them then? Some other things like IP cameras and things like that are okay, but I didn't stay very long.

employees there have a bad altitude, i bought a cable usb for android and wasn't fully functional because have a bad quality, and original cable work for my phone but their cable not, i went there to change it or have my money back, an employee's there told me no i will not change it because it works, and doesn't let me explain, .... advice don't go there and exactly that one mat be the product are cheap but are craps and you don't have chance to change it. badddddd services.

The merchandise isn't high end here but they don't advertise that it is. I was looking for something specific and my search app said it was on sale at factory direct much cheaper than other places. They had plenty of the sale item in stock and I was in and out of there quickly. I have used the product I purchased there and am happy with the results. Staff were friendly. I will be keeping an eye on sales at this place for items I need in the future.

Terrible quality products and customer service. Also, their return policy is extremely misleading. When we bought an android player we were told that if we didn't like it we could return it within 10 days. We apparently didn't read their tiny sign in the store that said the product had to be defective (even though our product didn't work the way it was advertised, but apparently wasn't considered defective). I would never spend another cent here.

Terrible customer services. The manager is unable to answer ur question. He keeps saying that it is the store policies. There is another big guy. He does not think before he talk to the customer. He keeps changing the version. Be careful. It is unbelievable that they oblige u to spend ur money in one year otherwise you will lose your money. They shouldn't put a expiration date one the card they give u back because they say it is final sale.

Placing an order on line is difficult; the Factory Direct website is clumsy. Should you be unlucky enough to call after hours, there is no answering service to leave a message. Do not try to submit anything to this store via eMail because no-one reads the message. After apprising the manager of this problem, she was utterly unconcerned - "that's the way the system works!" This is definitely unprofessional and unbusinesslike.

[Visited on Feb 21st 2021] Employees (all of them) are rude and don't smile or greet whatsoever. Most products are available at other retailers are 1/3 the price, items such as headphones and phone accessories are from Dollarama but marked up to 3 times the price. Overall, store seemed empty, low quality products when compared to other Factory Direct locations, rude staff, and it seemed that the staff were not diverse.

Went to look for a specific item that I called about before leaving the house. I asked for help to find it from 4 employees. One said he couldn't help, 2 ignored me and 1 said she would help but was helping someone else before I was helped. Ten minutes I waited while someone was supposed to be finding my item. I called before I left to confirm they had it, no one would look. Do not recommend this location.

I went to the factory direct to see for some headphones but they did not have a good choice of any so I did not buy any I don't know What happened to the busy Christmas shopping because I was the only customer in the store. A lot of people don't like shopping at this place because they do not give any money refunds they only give vouchers and you have no choice but you have to spend your money there

Not a great customer experience. It was a busy day so it took quite a while to get someome to assist me. I was able to finally flag down a male employee who appeared to be the assistant manager. However he seemed to be more preoccupied with his cellphone than assisting customers. If the assistant manager has terrible customer sercice skills what should I expect from the other employees?

Low Prices for Low Quality Electronics. Factory direct has some good deals - if you know what you are looking for. In general I find the majority of their electronics to be mid-grade to low-end for the most part. You can occasionally find a few jewels in the rough, but generally I shop here only if in need a specific item, and I know what the going rate for it should be.

Great store to buy cheap liquidated and refurbished electronics. Just pay attention to the store's warranty and return policies. If you're unsure just ask any of the friendly staff and they can explain it for you. They also have a large selection of products besides electronics which changes rather frequently. Check them out if you want a unique shopping experience.

To be honest, there's not much to say about this place accept friendly staff and low prices. It's a "no-frills" and poorly maintained establishment. There's an array of miscellaneous and uncategorised items. None of which is organized. Their only saving grace is the electronics section but yet again most of it is outdated. Oh yeah, things are cheap and cheaply made.

I have ordered a dyson from their store a month ago and I have been contacting their head office to just update me on the shipment, and I get nothing but fake promises. Oh and the ottawa branches never even replied to my emails yet! I am really disappointed by what I have got myself into with this company. I hope they work better on their customer service.

They sell faulty air conditioners that are barely refurbished all there air conditioners have had they flood sensors taken out. Both my a/c unit are diffrent models they both flood. The newest one floods with ten mins of use the second newest let all the water out after one month and never beeped or anything no warning what so ever. Never shopping here again

This place has terrible customer service. After buying something today and returning for an exchange, the same day, the first employee I talk to tells me he won't exchange my product (still in its packaging). This should never happen. Plus the manager wasn't exactly great. The girl at the front counter was the only person in the store being helpful.

Have to be careful with this store. Products are often at the extreme end of the "cheap" scale quality wise which, I guess, is why they can offer them so cheaply. They sell a lot of refurbish but are not very careful as to the cleanliness or workability of these products and if you happen to get a dud they do not give refunds, only instore credit

The store is a mess. They don't inform their customers properly. They fired someone for no reason who was their hardest worker. She was carrying the entire place and doing far more than her job required. I will not shop there again. I also have had issues with the products I have purchased. They do not give raises to their employees ever.

Rude staff and terrible return policies. Wasted $300 on a portable air conditioner that I can't get back. It can't cool down a small 200 square foot room like it is supposed to but they deem it undefective because it blows cold air. Paid $300 for a fan basically. Avoid this place like the plague.

If you know what you are going for (i.e. checked on line for availability, etc.) this place is awesome. The temptation of impulse buys is high. Staff is generally helpful, yet sometimes hard to find. We have been customers of this store for more than a decade, so that should say something.

This factory direct outlet store is equipped with most of the items and you’ll find enough staff members to assist you in case of need. The only thing they could change is the entrance door to make it automatic for the customers getting large item purchase.
