Deciding to euthanize Roger, my faithful companion of 17 years was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. All I cared about was his comfort and creating the illusion of safety for him in his last moments. After a sedative is administered, you have about 15-30 seconds to provide comfort and tell him it’s okay while he succumbs to the sedation. If during those precious few seconds, you don’t want someone barging in the room loudly to complete an administrative task and terrifying your cat as he becomes immobilized in the one way you begged them not to before the process started, don’t come here. He was completely sedated by the time I was finished pleading with her to leave and I wasn’t able to tell him it was okay or say goodbye. I missed his last waking moments and he spent them desperately trying to burrow his way under the couch to get away from her while he fell flat on his face instead of softly into my embrace. If they legally need your signature, they need to get your signature BEFORE ADMINISTERING THE SEDATIVE, NOT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE DOSE DURING HIS LAST WAKING SECONDS. I will never forget having this taken away from him or his terrified face as he jerked his head around and searched desperately for a safe hiding place while going under. I made sure to ask if only one person was going to be in the room during sedation and was told “yes.” This would have been a good time to mention that, actually, a second person will be in the room shoving a computer in your face instead of allowing you to provide comfort to the sweet soul who has provided you with endless comfort in his 17 years. It is truly traumatizing and appalling that this is their process and I feel compelled to warn others not to entrust their beloved pet’s last moments with this company. It needs to be noted that the doctors, Lauren and Danielle were gentle, loving and patient. Danielle took time out of her life after hours to email me with medication instructions that I had been waiting for and Lauren also went above and beyond by taking her shoes off while administering the sedative because she knew Roger was afraid of shoes. The veterinary technician was accommodating in the same way. Their efforts were in vain since his last seconds were spent desperately trying to run away from someone coming at him with shoes on anyway, his biggest fear. This is of no fault of the veterinarians and this review is not to be taken as an opinion about their medical care. It is about Fen Vet as a company and their lack of proper procedure in the most delicate time. Fen Vet has search engine optimization for “same day appointments” and list “emergency & urgent care” as well as “hospice and euthanasia care” in their services but because you can’t call them directly and you’re talking to someone in a dispatch centre off site, communication breaks down and did continually over the 8 days we were in contact. I was trying to be patient and polite at first when I wasn’t able to get answers to basic questions about his prescriptions during regular business hours but in the very end, I wasn’t even told I needed to sign anything until I was spending my last 15 seconds with my best friend and that’s inexcusable. The company’s claim that they are an appropriate choice for urgent care is not valid. I thought I was doing the right thing for Roger but I chose the wrong company and I have to live with that. I hope others will not have to feel the pain I am feeling for making the wrong choice.

I was able to get an appointment right away when my cat had a non-emergent partial urinary obstruction. I appreciate the free underground parking given that downtown parking is always an issue, and the clinic space and staff are warm and welcoming. The cat room is against the window so that my cat could watch the people and birds outside while we waited, and there is a little hidey-hole with a soft bed that he loved. They do blood/urine testing in house which is not as accurate as sending to a lab, but it is very convenient because we got the test results back right away and were able to start treatment for my cat immediately. We did have an unusual result show up for during a recheck but Dr. Danielle had been suspicious about it and phoned me after we left because she'd ran the test again after we left and it turned out to be a false positive--I really appreciated this! We had a really good experience at Fen Vet at their downtown location. They just opened at this location and the staff and vets were great. There is parking in the parkade below the clinic (helpful to know when going there). The rooms were beautiful inside and their customer service was amazing. I think what I appreciated the most was the transparency as they were very open on what needed to be done for my pup, but also what the cost would be. Their prices were very reasonable (similar to most vet clinics I have called) and their wellness appointment includes a vaccine. Follow up appointments are less, which isn't the case for the last time I brought my dog in to another vet in the clinic. Dr. Hannam was amazing, she was kind and you could tell she really cared about her job. We will definitely go back here again. Highly recommend!

We have been going to fen vet airdrie for a while now, but we recently moved to Calgary and had a very sudden emergency with our little pup today. The quickness of the staff, the compassion and kindness are unlike any other vet I’ve seen. They presented us all options, all choices and had 0 judgement about the decisions we made. Sadly we had to make a tough choice for our pup, and the end of life care was incredibly compassionate, not only to our pup but also towards our family. We got to snuggle our pup and say goodbyes, the made sure my kids had snacks and water, my 2 yr old was brought a toy, such minor details but helped us process our morning and cry our tears. Thank you for helping us through such a difficult and unexpected morning. We loved the airdrie location, and so happy to have a Calgary location now!

I am so thrilled to have finally taken our dog to Fen Vet. It is a 20 minute drive for us but it will always be so worth it. Dr. Fraser did such a phenomenal job with our dog, Draxx. She was very thorough, skilled, and friendly. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely smile of Cherish, who provided exceptional service. I got a hot beverage and the appointment was seamless with the cute signature lickmat. The underground parking provided ease for us, and getting to speak to Dr. Creelman is always a pleasure. We have taken our cat to multiple vets and had terrible experiences. I reached out to this location due to it’s convenient location and I’m so thankful I did. They were extremely accommodating and friendly. Our cat gets terribly anxious at the vet and did everything possible to make him comfortable. We ended up booking his dental with them and I’m so thankful. They were clear about all costs and explained everything very thoroughly. The price was fair and very comparable to other locations we have been to. Can’t recommend this location enough. Everyone I have dealt with is amazing here and you can tell they love what they do!

We had an outstanding “impromptu”experience here. My 3y/o large breed dog was experiencing a localized paralysis of sorts and with short notice, Dr Fraser made the time - same day - in an otherwise full schedule to see him. Every step from assessment to walking out the door and what to stay vigilant on was discussed thoroughly/ clearly, and most importantly, I was allowed to be with my dog thru it all, and participate in their discovery and decisions to recovery. The experience reminded me of the country vets I grew up with where animal care was the priority. Thank you for being there!

We just had our fist visit today and it was really great! The office doesn't have that sterile feel many vet clinics have. It's clean and welcoming. The exam room were were in was designed for a cat, which is pretty cool. While my cat is never happy about going to the vet, she settled in nicely while we waited. She was calm and happy to watch everything through the big windows. The staff are all very kind. The vet was great! She took the time to do a proper and thorough exam, explained the recommendations, and walked me through the results in detail.

Friendly staff. Clean facility. Great experience. Needed a vaccine last minute. They were able to get us in right away. The whole experience was efficient and seamless. The directions to the underground parking were explained over the phone and sent in detail in an email, making it easy to navigate. Upon arrival, super friendly and welcoming staff. Minimal wait. Room was clean. Vet, Danielle, was easy to communicate with and put my dog at ease. Great experience for both my dog and me. My dog would also rate this experience 5 stars.

The staff here are fantastic!! Brought my little maniac in here for a nail trim and checkup and they went above and beyond. Firstly, this is probably the most gorgeous clinic I’ve ever been to. It looked like a spa! Second, everyone was so lovely to deal with. I was able to book an appointment for the next day. They spoiled Cashew with treats and love, and even offered me coffee and water. We were even sent home with a little goody bag too!! If you need a vet in Beltline, this is the place to go.

Fen Vet is a fantastic place! Their clinic is clean and has a modern feel, which I love, thanks to those big windows. The staff is not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable. The client care team, techs and vets are all awesome. My little dog, who's quite anxious, always feels comfortable thanks to their extra care. And my senior cat? The best vet I’ve been to! Dr Mikaela and all the staff were fantastic! They were all so kind and nice with my puppy. Dr explained me everything about all the tests that we had and talked to me about all the treatment options being super careful with us. They are caring and loving, also the girl that greeted me helped me all the way to the parking lot when we were done! Highly recommend and will definitely come back ❤️

Great place to take your pets small or large even farm animals they can take a look at your exotic animals as well. The veterinary (Kate) is really great she knowledgeable and patient and passionate about her job I can see she really cares about what she does for the animals thank fenvet you will be my go to veterinarian !

My little dog was bit by a large Amstaff.. Buddy needed stitches, and it became infected almost overnight. I am on a fixed income, and this didn't affect Fen Vet's decision to help Buddy.. The staff at Fen Vet are absolute gems. They took amazing care of our cat Paisley. It's no exaggeration to say that she wouldn't be alive today had they not done such a great job at delivering her care and guiding us, Paisley's guardians, through the challenge.

A VERY different experience from what we've been used to at a vet clinic. We thought we were in the wrong place when we first walked in. Loved the ambiance and atmosphere. A little bit out of our way but we'll definitely return.
