0 stars if that was an option! We used to go to this vet for years. We have several dogs. We adopted a Potcake from Antigua. The vets vocally disapproved of our choice on our first visit with the new dog. They felt there was to much risk helping my dog since he was from over seas. They said, and I quote, “There are many dogs here who need our help.” We were shocked that anyone who cares for animals would say this. The treatment, or lack there of, that followed was awful. The dog we adopted had come in contact with ring worm before we got him. It was very clear that’s what he had. I also ended up contracting it and having my doctor test me. I was positive and had to take meds. Even with all this and various scrapes of my poor dog. Which cost quite a lot each and every time they did it. They still refused to give medication until they felt it was 100% confirmed. The scrape tests came back inconclusive every time. Not even negative or positive, just inconclusive. Unbelievable. I kept the bills. It cost me over 1000$ for various tests and no treatment. The vet office even tried to play off all the money we spent by saying we could at least claim it on our taxes. That was also a complete lie! We ended up going to a vet who was recommended by the rescue we got our puppy from. The vets there don’t discriminate on where your dog is from. Some even owned a potcake themselves. They were much kinder to deal with. One look at my dog and the paper work from Fisher Glenn and they already knew it was ring worm. We got treatment right away. I am completely shocked how crooked Fisher Glenn’s office is. They discriminate against certain breeds of dogs. They charged me over 1000$ for nothing. I felt completely scammed at this clinic. They should be ashamed of how they conducted themselves. Please beware and go somewhere that cares and won’t scam you out of your money. I may not get my money back but I can stop these people from putting someone else through the ringer. I recommend Westboro animal hospital in the area. Edit: The clinic did reach out within 24 hours of my review being posted. I appreciate the clinic reaching out to apologize, however, the apology feels insincere after reading the comment they posted a few days after we spoke by phone. I don’t agree with their view or approach. I don’t appreciate that the info I was given by vets at the time don’t match what they have stated here. I will leave it at that.
One of the worst customer services I've ever heard of. I have a very small and energetic 6 lbs puppy, and I make a conscious effort to not pick him up. I saw one of their employees walking around with my puppy on their lap after being neutered, so I complained. They called us today. Here's a few of their excuses the vet said to us: "It was to protect him from breaking his teeth" -> We brought him in a perfectly safe and comfortable carrier. Why not leave him there? -> So to protect his teeth you're risking him getting hurt in other ways? (falling from someone's lap) -> What about 30lbs+ dogs? Do you carry those around too? "He was very agitated we were trying to calm him down" -> While I appreciate the thought, he was sedated. We picked him up at 3:30pm, it was only at 6 or 7 before he got up on his feet for the first time. When we got him he couldn't even lift his head. I was just expressing a concern for my puppy's health. But they don't appreciate being criticized, and after running out of excuses they started attacking us with things like: "So next time we let him break his teeth ok?" "You're trying to tell us how to work" "I'm a doctor I know better" They didn't have a reasonable excuse for this situation, instead of apologizing and take this as an opportunity to improve, they attack us or "flex" their titles (like you need to be a doctor to know that a 6lbs puppy can get hurt if he falls from someone's lap, come on). The vets seem to know what they are doing, both from the reviews and from my (short) experience with them. But the fact that they put their ego above my concern over my pet's health is a REALLY BIG red flag. Beware.
I dont even know where to begin. They have not only saved 1 of my dogs but now 2 of my dogs. Beginning of January my older girl ended up getting bloat. Knowing it was after hours and wondering if she would make the drive up to Ottawa, I took a chance and called them. Not only did they calm me down they told me to come straight there and they would look at her. With there quick actions she is here today. Margaret and Katie dealt with everything for me. They contacted the 24 hour vet clinic and found out it would be a bit before they could get her into surgery, so they took it upon themselves to make sure she had a fighting chance. After 3 hours of decompressing her and her being safe enough to travel they took me and my dog to the 24 hour clinic where she under went 4 hours of surgery. They saved her life and she is here and back to her old self because of them. Not only that, but the vet office helped me with check ups and questions I had about her long recovery. They followed up every day to make sure she was recovering and when it was time for her staples to come out (all 60 of them) they where so gentle with her and I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. My dogs are my everything and I can't thank them enough for what they have done. Past, present or future I know that they will be in good hands everything we go there.
I took my cat there for a nail infection. I don't have a car, so I had to pay for the ride there and back. At the clinic, the vet prescribed two medications, one of which they did not have in stock. Therefore, we decided to order the medication from an online pharmacy so it can be shipped directly to our house. This way, we wouldn't have to pay for another trip to the clinic. Fisher Glen missed two different attempts from the online pharmacy to contact them for the prescription, and when they were finally reached, they refused to give the pharmacy the prescription without charging us $37. We paid $215 for the vet visit which included the vet's assessment and prescription. This extra cost made zero sense and was not disclosed to us at the time of the visit. This is absolutely dishonest behavior and I will not recommend this clinic to anyone. Update: we contacted fisher glen as they instructed and was told yet again that the prescription fee must be paid in order for them to authorize the medication to the online pharmacy. Note that we already paid for the vet's assessment of the condition and her prescription, and at the time of the visit, the clinic did not have one of the meds we needed in stock. They made no effort to rectify the situation. This type of treatment towards a long time customer is absolutely appalling.
I take all of my pets to Fisher Glen Animal Hospital. The main reason I do is because going there is like going to visit family. All the staff know me when I call. They know my pets and their medical history immediately. I never feel pressured to agree to a course of treatment. Where there are options, they always give them to me. They are very careful to fully inform me of how much a treatment would cost. In the case of one of my dogs, both of his knees had to be replaced. I was very aware of the price of this type of surgery. Fisher Glen quoted a very reasonable price. They always call the next day after a treatment to see how the animal is doing. I feel my pets are being looked after on a very personal level. And somehow, they successfully clip my dog's nails, a death defying feat accomplished by only the best. I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone with a pet.
Where do I even start! The team at Fisher Glen has been absolutely lovely and amazing to me and my girl Cuddles. I can assure that they do everything they can for your fur babies, as well as to the pet parents themselves. They are very well trained to handle Cuddles "spicy and queen-like" attitude, super knowledgeable when it came to diagnosing her many different types of health issues, and providing many next step options to us. I can't thank them enough for checking up on me and Cuddles after each appointment, calling me to see how she was doing, and reassuring me when I started having to make the tough choices. They allowed me time to say my goodbyes, and provided such amazing support to me and my partner during and after our final goodbyes. I highly recommend this wonderful team to anyone looking for an amazing vet clinic!
All around amazing! I came here for the first time with my 6 month old kitten, Minerva, after adopting her from the humane society. Since Minerva is my first pet this was also my first experience with a vet clinic. After hearing horror stories of how stressed out some cats get comming to the vet I think I was more nervous than my kitten. Everyone from the front desk staff, vet techs, and the vet were all super pleasent and welcoming. Dr.Barr took her time looking over Minerva while keeping her calm with pets and treats. She explained everything from reccomended diet, detal care, annual vet check ups, pet insurance, symptoms to watch out for, etc., and they even got her claws trimmed. Overall it was a great and very stress free visit so Minerva and I will definitely be back! Thank you so much Fisher Glen animal hospital :)
The actual veterinary services have always been good in my experience. However, I recently needed to schedule a dental cleaning for my dog. I was quoted a price in Feb 2022 that was 39% higher than a quote I was given 14 months earlier for the exact same service. I called the clinic to inquire and was told they were matching Ontario suggested fee guide. My previous visit I was also billed separately for a service that I had formerly received free as part of the annual check up. The clinic was recently bought out by a large corporate veterinary organization (2 years previous I was told on the phone) but I was assured this had no impact on pricing. I would suggest that the staff and service are still good. But a push is on to squeeze the maximum $$$ out of their clients for the new corporate owner.
Fisher Glen Animal hospital the Dr Margaret baar, Dr Jane gates, Are awesome doctors with my past dogs and present dog I have they are well knowledgeable and very polite and answer all my questions I have or any concerns I may have with my new dog and there staff are great as well with my past and present dog. They make my dog feel comfortable on whatever they have to do. I had the pleasure on meeting they new Dr Tara betnaza the other day when I had to drop off my little dog I wasn't able to go into the vet because of covid so we did a zoom chat so we can tell me what she was doing to do. And she was awesome either my dog and he was comfortable with her and she answered all my question, and was very knowledgeable as well. My dog is in good hands with this veterinarian hospital. ❤❤❤
Dr Baar and Dr Gates are both excellent veterinarians. They are understanding and no pressure Docs, they are a perfect blend of concern and care for your pet while understanding the cost of doing tests that could maybe be avoided. I never feel like a neglectful Momma as I have with other vets in the past just for taking a cost effective approach to a problem. The assistant staff are all amazing, friendly and welcoming as well. They make my dog feel excited to enter the facility and they are always well stocked with Benny Bullies Liver (and he knows it) They do nail trimming quickly and with no stress when you come for an appointment. You can tell they entire staff genuinely care for your pets, you and their work. No one is stressed when going to this vet clinic!
I moved to this local “neighbourhood” vet practice 5 years ago when I was displeased with the level of service provided by a larger clinic. I have been nothing but pleased with the professionalism, empathy and high level of care provided by Fisher Glen AH. I recently had to bring my dog to an emergency clinic and was again reminded how like night and day the experience can be. Our recent annual checkup was thorough as was the follow-up care provided when we had to schedule an urgent follow-up to the emergency clinic appointment. I hope that the recent purchase of the clinic will not impact what FGAH does so well. Thanks to all the staff and veterinarians - particularly Dr. Betnaza who we have seen the last few appointments.
After many years as a client, I was pretty disappointed with the service here. My cat was suffering and I asked for an estimate upfront for the costs before bringing him in. I was never sent one, and they responded to me over the phone as if this was an abnormal and ridiculous request during the pandemic. There was no empathy in the tone that I was treated with here. I brought my cat to another vet and got a quote in advance for blood work and a urine test based on my cats symptoms without question. The new vet service is better, they are open later hours on the weekdays, as well as Saturdays, which is much better around my work schedule.
I would recommend Fisher Glen Animal Hospital to my friends and family. We have had nothing but pleasant experiences bringing Penelope (our Jack Russell Terrier) to Fisher Glen since we adopted her in December. The team is friendly and knowledgable (always answering my many new dog-mom questions). They treat Penelope like she is one of their own. We recently had Penelope spayed at Fisher Glen. Katie and Dr. Betnaza answered all my questions and kept ongoing communication throughout the whole process to help ease my worries. They even followed up multiple times after the procedure to check-in and see how Penelope was doing. 10/10 service!
I’ve been trying to get my two dog family in since the beginning of March & the staff has not been able too book two dogs, I’m now a month late for vaccinations & HAVE A CANCELLATION CHARGE?! This vet office isn’t logical, I’m a young adult trying to help her dogs while you steal my time & money. Not impressed. Not my fault that for the third time both my dogs were not booked. Will be most definitely finding a new vet as NOTHING was done to help me, instead you charged me. I do NOT suggest this vet for multi dog families.
I am a new client with my five pets. Once the clinic reoprned, I brought one pet each day for verfive days. ,lots of money, I usually would bring one rea month for five months. Today my eighteen year old had a dental cleaning.mmi knew there may be extra 1,000 for this heist as had just spent over $4,000 in oie month at their clinic. Seems there wa a big understanding oboist my limit of $1,000. My bill was over $1,5000, I am going back t my previous vet, a long drive away. They need to work on giving proper estimates.
I have a 20 yr old cat who became unwell last week. Lewis had symptoms of a upper respiratory infection and responded well to saline and warm compresses. The staff at a Fisher Glen provided me an appointment in less than a weeks time and followed up by phone the next day. I’m from the Perth area but, now reside in Ottawa . The staff were exceptional and demonstrated kindness, support and direction on how best to treat him pending an appt. A big thank you for exceptional care. You have a new client in Ottawa.
I have been coming to Fisher Glen for almost 10 years now, first with my Golden Retrievers (RIP) and now with my two Cats. Both Dr. Barr and Dr. Gates are without question the most professional and caring vets in the city. They provide the absolute top care and comfort to both pets and owners. Also important is the personal support and knowledge you receive from the front staff and the vetinary Technicians and assistants. 10 out of 10 for sure. You won't find a clinic better than Fisher Glen.
Now that my "big man" is gone, I can only say that the treatment and care received from Fisher Glen has been the best I could ever ask for. I know everyone and they are like my extended family. Thank you - I will never forget all you have done for my "boy." My original post: Great clinic, great care and regard for your animal and you. My dog has been undergoing long-term care for cancer with the support and assistance of Fisher Glen Animal Hospital. Highly recommended.
The staff at Fisher Glen are always super helpful and friendly! We have been taking our cat and dog there for 3 years now and we always feel like we are in good hands. During the pandemic they have been very diligent and careful with the social distancing and mask wearing. They are always ready and willing to help with any quations about our pets health. Highly recommend this vet to anyone with a furry-baby that they love.
Our cat's health had taken a turn for the worse and had to be euthanized immediately. We contacted numerous veterinarians, none of which were interested in my dilemma. I decided to go directly to the Fisher Glen hospital unannounced. They understood my dilemma immediately and took care of our cat. This will definitely be our got o hospital for our other cat. Thank you for all the support and the roses. Very thoughtful !!!
They are amazing people, always trying to help and they were there through some tough times. They care about the pets they see (probably as much as the owners) and even if I moved around the city, I drive my pets there because I know they will be well taken care of. I have never had a bad experience there and the staff is always helpful and available. I am getting a puppy soon and I will bring him to Fisher Glen as well.
I have been a client of Fisher Glen Animal Hospital for years. I first learned about them through their collaboration with a local animal rescue. They are always attentive, kind, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I never feel rushed during appointments; they always take the time to answer my questions and are always incredibly caring and gentle with my animals. I highly recommend Fisher Glen Animal Hospital.
Very nice and helpful staff. As a new pet owner they felt trustworthy, until it came time for my young male cat to be neutered and they quoted me almost $1000 with a microchip (over $700 without). Being a first time cat owner I thought this was a normal price. However after calling around and getting various quotes I realized it was severely overpriced compared to other places quoting between $500-$600.
First appointment for my 4 year old adopted cat. They were very prompt, professional and provided an ipad so I could facetime with the Vet who was conducting the check up. The vet was friendly, knowledgeable and very open with me for the check up. She provided multiple options and allowed me to chose, with recommendations, the best options for my cat and my price range. 100% would recommend.
Stellar vet that always provided clear advice and made an effort to accommodate us when we had emergencies. Of all the vets I’ve used and heard of through friends, this is the best. Our puppy, Xing, was actually excited to go in with them when we visited! Also really appreciate the COVID measures they have in place, giving us iPads so we can watch along from the car. Cannot recommend enough!
My little guy had an ear infection and we ended up getting an appointment the same day that we called. We appreciate all the help and the amazing staff at Fisher Glen! The appointment went well and we were able to watch our guy from an iPad they provided us since we were not able to physically go with him due to COVID, which is rad! I would recommend this establishment 100%.
We've been visiting Fisher Glen Animal Hospital since they first opened. Always professional, friendly and caring, this clinic has a warm and helpful staff. There is not enough room here to write about the generosity they've shown us over the years. I feel so fortunate to have our furry friends cared for by compassionate people who truly love what they do!
A knowledgeable and friendly staff that takes care of your and your animal's needs. Being new pet owners, we were inexperienced and worried about our new dog. The staff and doctor took every precaution and taught us many helpful things that helps us in our daily life. They're also really available and a phone call away should we need anything.
Such a wonderful place with amazing staff that clearly love what they do. I've been bringing my mastiff mix puppy Doug there and the care has been amazing. Not even considering looking at other options right now. Even Doug loves it there and he's getting stabbed with needles every single time.id recommend this team to anybody.
I needed a vet doctor to examine my cat as I was worry of her health. The vet doctors there very accommodative as I received an appointment the same day. It occurred that my cat needed immediate surgery and these doctors have done amazing job! Thank you for taking my cat so quickly and removing an obstruction from her stomach!
These guys are so incredibly friendly and helpful. I live in Westboro, which is quite far away from the clinic, but I don’t even care because I love the service I’m getting. I am certain that they care about my little boy Sushi as much as I do and I’m thrilled about that. Keep being the awesome people that you are!
A fantastic and kind staff, so experienced, patient, and eager to help with anything. Even though my poor kitty is terrified to go to the vet they're always very good at keeping her calm and always compliment her behavior (and coat!). Thank you for making something stressful into something extremely bearable.
It’s so hard to express how much I appreciate this vet clinic. They saved my cat when my own wouldn’t fit him in with serious clinical symptoms. The team explains everything happening, best care plans and most of all are so loving to my cat. I just can’t imagine bringing him anywhere else.
The staff at Fisher Glen are absolutely wonderful! My cat was diagnosed with FIP and unfortunately had to lay him to rest last year, the staff were incredibly accommodating during this time. I now have a new kitten and I’m bringing her to Fisher Glen as I trust this vet entirely.
We have used Fisher Glen Animal Hospital to treat our pets (2 cat and Teddy- poodle). We have always found them polite and accessible but, more importantly, aware of our pets, their personalities and their needs. Very responsive- especially during the Pandemic.
Changed review due to current staff shortage, seems admin is not checking and responding to voicemails within a Reasonable time. Two weeks and many voicemails. Received no calls back. Not recommended at this time until they fill in for their staff shortage.
So kind and helpful. They will even answer your questions over the phone and email to potentially save you a visit or encourage you to come if there is something potentially serious. You can tell that they really care about animals and their customers
So sweet with my nervous dog. They FaceTime so you can watch the appointment even though you can't go in. They were very thorough and made sure I knew exactly what was going on and what options were available. Clearly care about your pets
The staff at Fisher Glen Animal Hospital are extremely kind and helpful. They understand the nature of your call, urgent or non-urgent, and they have always accommodated my requests. I highly recommend Fisher Glen Animal Hospital.
Excellent service and professional staff. I live quite far away from the clinic, but I continue coming here because they have such kind vets who go out of their way to make my cats feel comfortable and minimize their anxiety.
Nothing but great things to say about this vet. They are extremely kind and respectful and take the time to make sure all your concerns are dealt with. My dog gets excited whenever we pull up! 5/5 highly recommend.
Great vet! I am so happy I switched to this vet. They genuinely care about the animals and help to work with you for treatment options. They follow up with emails and calls to see how the animal is doing. Amazing.
Amazing experience. Dr. Baar was amazing and so was the vet tech!! Watched our appointment through FaceTime and my Blaine was soooo happy and getting so many pets and cuddles!! So happy! Very happy cat momma!!
The customer service was amazing.. my puppy Trooper went and got all of his shots with no hassle.. they explained everything and any questions that I had to ask .. Thank you and Trooper says hi as well
Dr Baar and Dr Gates and staff are like family. We have taken our dogs to Dr Baar for twenty years and more. We can't say enough about all the staff who are professional, knowledgeable and caring.
Great vet that really cares about the animals they call patients. My dog Toby wouldn't be here today if not for them. Eternally great full and never afraid to recommend them.
Amazingly caring and knowledgeable staff that treat us like gold every time. Their current virtual set up for appointments is truly as good as it can get right now.
Didn't get to go they are no vetenarian there i wanted sooooo bad to bring my puppy to get is first shots but no such luck got to find somewhere else
This is always such a positive experience for my dog (and me). Foster pulls enthusiastically to enter for his visit and a treat on the scale!
I am confident that my kitty will be well cared for, and at a reasonable price. I love the friendly staff at the desk, Erik and McKayla.
Friendly staff. Excellent service. Ample parking. Would recommend to anyone looking for vet clinic in the area.
Very helpful, and considerate of your pet and financial situation. Great staff that know what they are doing.
Kind employees, good with cats! Very accommodating and friendly, keeps the health of our pets top priority.
Dr. Margaret Barr is kind, caring and provides excellent medical care. I highly recommend her.
Amazing! Best, caring accommodating service. They love my fur babies almost as much as me!
Sure, how would I let you know (I adjusted my rating based on how I felt leaving FGAH)?
