There's a lot going on at Fisherman's Wharf with lots of attractions. It reminds me of Piers landing in Philadelphia but with the flare of South Street shopping. I went on a day where it was not busy or crowded however there were tourists around. The thing I like most was the stores that sold fish locally caught right out of the Bay. If you like the smell of fresh bay caught seafood you will love this area. The only reason why I left early was because of rain. I spent about a good two hours looking around and hanging out.

If you're visiting SF and fancy seeing what real SF is like, Fishermans Wharf located at Pier 39 is the place for you. I, as a vacationer, visited Fishermans Wharf last week & cannot deny the fact that this place is lively, super entertaining. Locals, as well as travelers from all over the globe, can be observed here. This place can be accessed by public/private conveyance. There's a parking garage (Beach St) available at this location. Applebees (restaurant at Taylor St) based on the first floor provides the best view of the activities taking place at the Wharf. PS- Be sure to get a ride in the Cable Car. #Day2
Fisherman's Wharf has many small shops on the board walk there. It can be a little crowded and busy. There they also have museums in the area and other walking trails. On one of the walking trails you could see sea lions and otters just sun bathing. I very much recommend going there. There were no tickets needed. The only money you will spend is for the food and any items that you buy in the stores. We also went on one of there few whale watching tours. It was worth our time and money.

Much to see, do and eat in this famous wharf area! I highly recommend enjoying some dungeness crab, but be careful of the highly touristy restaurants and shops, they tend to be way over priced and the quality is suspect. There are many tours offered to the local attractions from here, Alcatraz being the most popular, so buy tickets ahead, if that is your desired experience. This place is busy and hectic so much going on. It's just like Time Square but by the ocean. Take your water and don't buy anything - over priced. There are plenty of places to eat if you want tho. Walk up and down the wharf and you can see street performers, people watch and just look around. DO NOT park here - the prices are insane. On the weekend it can get over $60 for the day - that's just wrong. Park somewhere else or, if you're in Oakland, take the ferry over it's a lovely ride. Give yourself about 2 hours here - any more and it can become overwhelming.
Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 is a must see and do when you’re in SF! There’s so much good food, especially seafood, and shops around the area, it’s a great way to spend your afternoon or night. Pier 39 has a tiny market with lots of great things to see and places to eat. I recommend making a reservation at one of their many seafood restaurants, Pier Market or Fog Harbour for a great dining experience.

Interesting place. Mix of locals and tourists on a Saturday night. Good choices for restaurants and people watching. All kinds. In the afternoon there were street performers at night there were evangelists. Pretty views of the water. Boats and ships moving out in the Bay. Views of Alcatraz and even the Golden Gate Bridge. Cable Car pick up a few blocks west. Something for everyone.

A must-visit location at any time of the day, but I highly recommend visiting in the evenings when it comes alive with live bands and singers performing below the iconic Fisherman's Wharf Sign. Many attractions are just a stone's throw away, and it's also the starting point for a fantastic cruise, offering a glimpse of the majestic Alcatraz Island.

Fisherman's Wharf is the most family-oriented place in San Francisco and contains the highest concentration of activities for families with children. Some popular activities for kids are eating the world famous Ghirardelli chocolate and hot fudge sundaes at Ghirardelli Square, or visit the Musee Mechanique, a free attraction and the world's largest privately-owned collection of mechanically operated musical instruments and antique arcade machines.
As a visitor to SF I found area has much to do on Wharf area downtown. Spent most of afternoon and few hours into the evening. So much to see and do, food, shopping, clothes, jewelry so much. Very safe and fun place to be even into the night. Fish tacos, Italian, sushi, clam chowder… All the food was delicious Hope I can spend more time there

Fun area to visit day or night. There were lots of snack shop’s available during the day but limited at night. There were a lot of street vendors selling hot dogs, fresh cut fruit, tacos, we even saw people selling margaritas (weekend night) after the regular shops closed.

A great place to see a lot of seals. You have a great view to the famous Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge. It’s possible to buy here some food and drinks or if you want, you can also book a tour. And the last thing: if you have luck- the famous bushman will find you :)

A nice place to have a look at the boats, piers and some historical arrangements. You get to see Alcatraz from here. It’s crowded and lively. Windy and too cold during winter and early spring. Would be lovely on a great sunny day for a stroll.

During weekends whenever we go to city we visit fisherman’s wharf. My kids love to watch sea lions. Fishermen selling their catch. After covid fisherman’s wharf doesn’t have its old charm but still its a must visit in San Francisco.

Awesome touristy area! Visited Oct 2019. Very fun! The sights, smells, sounds are so wonderful! The food is so delicious. We ate at Cafe 8 which was awesome. And Tarantino's where we had clam chowder and fish/chips with wonderful view of the old boats! Shopping a tourist's dream. The sea lions were cool at Pier 39! Loved this adventure!
OKAY...so if you've never eaten at Tarantino's. you missed it...it's not been there for sometime now. NO REASON to miss what's taken over the Wharf in it's spot. ANOTHER of my gotos...surprise...see if it becomes your spot for great service...and one helluva catch...SEAFOOD!ON THE FLY. NOT THE TOURISTY WHARF...pier39 is BURNT
Lots of unique shops; although the prices reflect the amount of tourism, I still had lots of fun browsing here. I wish I'd had more time here. Definitely check out the wharf, you'll be supporting local businesses with whatever you spend.

Our favorite Fisherman Wharf, our resort is walking distance, so on every trip, we walk seeing all the stores buying survivors, eating or enjoying the walk. Always something to see, sadly many store have closed since our last visit, we were here during the pandemic. Fisherman wharf is still our family’s favorite
Years since we'd been there. Most of the touristry has moved to Pier 39. But the Grotto strip with fresh seafood remains in part. Boarding of tours, Shops, etc. found here.Totally different than 30 yrs ago! Lots of modern shopping & eateries in the area as well. Art galleries, marina, and atmosphere.
This is a nice place with excellent view to Alcatraz prison! There are lot of shops to eat or buy souvenirs! You can go for a walk there and watch the Sea Lions relaxing in pier!

Used to be a great spot many years ago. Not anymore. A lot of drunk people and a lot of homeless folks. The place is not very clean these days and at many spots smells bad.

First time visiting and it was a great experience. The sunset was so beautiful, especially with Alcatraz in the backdrop. The skyline was so beautiful once the sun set. Lots of shops and a nice area for people looking to take beautiful photos around sunset and dusk.
Liked! Plenty of entertainment on the waterfront. Restaurants, shops, souvenirs, etc.. and The best part to look forward to is the sea lions ))

Uncrowded, clean. I walked from Market Street to Coit Tower to Fisherman's Warf. Looks like SF is getting cleaned up. I did not walk the Tenderloin as usual. So I don't know the conditions there. A year ago, SF was the worst I have seen in 60 years.
Free to walk through. Plenty of restaurants with tourist pricing. Buildings were pretty and the houseboats looked so cute!

Wharf is full of people, life, atractions and good food. Visit the Pampanito submarine museum, the arcade museum with centenial machines - Musee Mecanique - and of course try crabs and a clam chowder in sourbread. Take the tour to Alcatraz.
Nice place to visit, very touristy. Would reccomnded visiting the old arcade , my favorite arcade I have ever been to. It feels like a museum as most games are very old, and it offers a huge verity of games. Wasn't too pricey either.
Lovely place in San Francisco with great view of Alcatraz and the bay, lots of cool shops and restaurants. You cannot miss the sea lions and it’s hard to miss them because of their funny noise they make to get your attention
WONDERFUL Place You Won't Be Disappointed. A Variety of Stores 2 Shop At As Well As Restaurants 2 Dine In The View Of The Water Is Breathtaking And They Have A Great Museum Filled With GAMES & Memorabilia …
Great stores to shop around and a lot of options for food. The view from the pier is amazing.

Super crowded but definitely worth a visit. You can see sea lions at Pier 39 and get some good clam chowder. We were there in July and it was a beautiful 65 degrees.
Great area filled with seafood restaurants, souvenir shops, and tourist attractions. Many places serve the famous chowder w/ bread bowl. Nice atmosphere by the sea.

I grew up coming here but took a 15+ year break. Great place to come back too. Great food, good entertainment. The ferry’s are not pricey. Great family fun!
Great time, great food and great people. Was cool to walk around and see the sea lions and all the food and fun they had. We loved the aquarium they had!
