I've been to San Fran lots of times but never made it to Coit Tower, why not?! This was a great stop to see the bay area. Our day was clear, no wind and the sun was out, how perfect! There are 360 degree views from the parking lot and inside is a bathroom, gift shop and a museum of murals (free). You can pay ($10) per person to go up in the elevator and 2 flights of stairs to the top of the tower for a better view. The windows are glassed in. Had a great time with my family. We left for dinner and returned to parking lot for night time views. Beautiful!

The tower itself was gorgeous, inside was beautiful! But no working elevator at the time (I think it was just my tough luck) But the reason for 3 stars is, the view from the ground was very obstructed. Now, I'm not sure if it were because of the ground corrosion and they can't get in to cut the trees back- but you literally cannot see a thing from the ground (and I was not walking up all those stairs with a busted knee :l) but it was very disappointing that a historical view point was so obstructed. Will have to come back one day

A must visit if you are in SF. Monument is excellently maintained and views of the bay right out to the Golden Gate are stunning, although the tall bushes prevent any veiw on the town side. You can go into the monument but check the opening times as it was closed when I went there around 7pm. Also better not to go in the late evening as the sun low in the sky will blind your view of the Golden Gate. Walk up is around half a mile and quite steep, but there were cars up there so presume driving is possible.

Be willing to part with your money, to climb 13 flights of stairs!! Lift has been broken "for a while," so who knows how much longer any repair job in SF will be left, hoping no one notices anymore. The view from the base is pleasant enough, gardens are well maintained and toilet facilities are adequate. 15 minutes and you're done, if not doing the 13 flights! Catch the bus, it's cheaper, and it saves the back breaking mountain climb. Unless that's your thing..

Coit tower is located here in this park. This is a place from where you can get a view of the whole city. Which includes the Golden Gate Bridge and the other bridge which looks similar the golden gate (I don’t know the name). The city buildings and roads looks great from here.
Restrooms
Have restrooms located inside coit tower as well as outside. The outside one is dirty though. Don’t know about the inside one.

  • Ronda Deschene

Just disappointing. We had to walk upstairs, which was 13 floors the elevator broke cost 10$ it was plexy glassed on all floors All doors where shut but top one. We were told before we went that we would be able to walk out and around it on outside on the 10th floor. Doors were locked. We got back downstairs, and the same lady said that now they were going to only open the 10th floor for air shore.

  • Matthew Perez

We finally crossed this off our list and are now Coit Climbers ☺️ Be prepared for a workout since the elevator is not working. The small sign says 234 steps to the top, but steps do not equal flights of stairs lol. Man, I was winded! Once you make it to the top of Coit Tower, you are treated to a majestic ✨️ 360° view of incomparable San Francisco

  • Christy Valdovinos

Our 1st view stop in town and it was beautiful. I love to site see and this place really gives you a 360°view, expect for the trees blocking but its nature. Their website said open with covid restrictions but the place was still closed to go inside. As well we went early on a Saturday and were able to find parking there. They do have a small parking.

  • José Lozano

Great little park with lovely views of the city. The climb is rather challenging, which is why I could imagine it to be a great place to try and train along its trails. My only complains are that the park has many parking asteriks to it, so make sure to read and know where you're parking; and that the paths within the trail do feel rather dirty

  • andrew t

Wonderful views of the city and bay. If you are walking it is a leg muscle work out. There is very limited free parking. There is a self cleaning toilet. Due to covid the museum was closed. The tree's are over grown so the pay telescopes are pointless. Great place to come and grab a lunch for the views. I would come back again.

  • Mathew Acosta

Amazing history, definitely a must see for anybody new to San Francisco or anybody that just has never been. A huge cultural insight of the early history of San Francisco, interiors for Ruth artwork and beautiful murals. The views are quite spectacular as well at the top of the tower you can see in any direction for miles.

  • Shea McClung

Although San Francisco is not what it used to be I can't honestly say anything bad about the historical places. Visit as we did, and as with most large cities nowadays stay in the tourist areas. Be aware of your surroundings. I will say it doesn't have the romantic charm and appeal it did when I visited in the 70's.

  • Johnny

Small park on the top of the hill where you can find good views of the city and also visit the tower. Climbing all the way here can be not wheelchair friendly. Depending on which side there are lots of stairs. It is possible to arrive by car but parking is limited.
Restrooms
Restrooms available in the tower.

  • Benjamin Drinkwater

This is very authentic and nice place to walk around. Make sure you have enough energy and strength in legs to walk in this place. As you understand San Francisco is famous for it's hill environment. Place is surrounded by cozy houses of various styles and designs. Must visit place for tourists and city guests.

  • Jude McCrea

Hiked all the way up from fisherman’s wharf in hopes to get to go up tower and get a view of the city. However, they didn’t accept Apple Pay, only cash or physical car. There is a good view none the less even without scaling the tower but disappointing not to get up it after the effort put into walking up.

  • Bora Doker

Its better to climb from the southern ramps and watch the beautiful sceneries.. Then to take the lovely Filbert Steps at the eastern side of the tower to have your energy reserve restored for the next SFO adventure.. :)
Restrooms
Teleporting-like gate is a cool choice for the tower..

  • Ana Oseguera

I went to Coit Tower on a Sunday (8/27/23) it was a beautiful day. I went with my two kids and husband. My son got a sticker for going all the way up the stairs. The elevator wasn't working that day. Im not sure how often they trim the trees but they definately need some love.

  • Rick Herrera

Really great views of the city from the top. It's a small park but you go there for the views not the actual park. The tower is lit at night and you can see it from all over the city. It's a nice place to check out during the day but also at night. The fog is always nice too.

  • Ben Shanahan

Nice view, cool tower. People working there seemed like volunteers who were veeeery passionate about the place, which is cool. They're very protective of the art on the first stair well. Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know why...
Restrooms
Yes, free, nice, clean.

  • Roxanne Lucero

Such a beautiful place I've been to San Francisco numerous times but that was my first time there. Only got to see it at night before we went to the airport but it was so worth it next time I want to see it during the day but beautiful views it a san Francisco must see

  • Uri Ponoma

Now place with a view on the SF and historic gallery. At the foot of the hill with the park you will be greeted by a warning sign: watch out, coyotes! It looks like a joke, but who knows, maybe at night they go out here to hunt for ... arrested tourists :)

  • Jeremy Fong

Went on a rainy day and a broken elevator. Hope you didn't eat lunch before you come here if the elevator is broke or you're gonna burn them calories. Relatively cheap cause of the broken elevator. The view was exceptional to see different parts of SF!

  • Sweta Basundhara

This park provides some amazing 360° view of the Bay and the city. This park provides very relaxing and peaceful environment with many trees and lush greens. Coit Towers is closed due to the pandemic but I think the park provides splendid view.

  • Unee P

We didn't take car, we were on foot. We took the stair route and it was between the home grown garden and flowers smelled fresh and blossomed. Great small trek trail! The tower was closed but we did get a great view of the SF from the top.

  • Angela Chum

One of the spots you need to come to here in San Francisco, CA. There's even a tower you can go in, to the top, with amazing things you can learn from just with a small fee. At the time my husband and I were here, there were jets flying

  • Brian Blythe

Such an awesome view of San Francisco!! Gotta go. I rode my motorcycle there so I blasted right through all that traffic headed to and from SF. Would be cool if you could climb that tower on the building that's at the top. So awesome!!

  • Trisha Tran

The Coit Tower has magnificent view of the city. We visited on a Sunday and was lucky enough to have found parking. The turn around time for a parking space is rapid. The signs does indicate that there are no parking on the weekend.

  • Ken and Alicia Lund

Some of the best views of San Francisco. Worth the visit. The tower is a bonus. The self-cleaning public bathroom has saved me on some pleasant evening runs. Worth the walk up the hill to this site--nice views day and night.

  • Helene Patel

What a view of the bay! I walked it from Ferry Landing pier. A challenging hill to climb but worth the views of the city. Plenty of pauses to rest and photograph the city. Wore mask and distancing. People are very compliant.

  • Neal

Pioneer Park is a nice park on top of Telegraph Hill. To get there, you'll have to drive or walk up a lot of steps. There's a restroom and Coit Tower. There's also a little pop-up store thing that you can buy food from.

  • Amber Guymon

Always beautiful views and well kept grounds that make a great choice for first time SF visitors. Deducting one star, as the public bathroom was in such a bad state is was nearly unusable, except for the most desperate.

  • Ryan Ferguson

Good view of the city in all directions. I've been here twice and still haven't been in the tower but haven't really felt the need to go up. Many other better options to see the city and the bridge along with Alcatraz.

  • Jaymar Simon

There's no traffic on a Tuesday afternoon during the COVID-19 pandemic. Weather was clear to view the city. However, there's no access to Coit Tower, snack shop is closed, and the restrooms are the portable ones.

  • Rob Wong

We walked the Filbert street stairs from battery st. To Coit tower! At least 420 steps going Up- and 420 steps back down!!! The views are awesome!!! The stairs are great cardio exercise!!! Be careful!!!

  • Franklin Harry

One of the best tourist place in San Francisco. we can see both golden gate bridge and bay bridge from single point of view. Inside coit tower great California historical painting are available to see.

  • Diana Tuaty

Beautiful place to take pictures of the city, specially on a sunny day! You can see both bridges and Alcatraz. There’s a path with many stairs to go up and down but also you can get to the top by car.

  • Juniper Moureau

Historic neighborhood and home to the Coit Tower. Great views of the water and the bridge, but be prepared for LOTS of steps and inclines if you walk there. Doable, just with some breaks in between.

  • Mitchelle Chen

Ascending to the top of the tower by climbing up the stairsteps, the view of the whole city is amazing. The terrifif mural paintings reflect how the people lived their lives more than 70 years ago.

  • George Rodriguez

$10 to climb all the way up to get great views of the city and all its popular sites.
Restrooms
There is a state of the art self-cleaning bathroom just outside of the tower. Very unique.

  • Russell Jurney

Excellent views and a sheltered pedestrian only street to walk up to get there. Don’t put money in the binocular machines, they don’t work If you like this place check out Sutro Tower! …

  • Patrick Thibodeaux

Healthy walk, bring lots of water. It's worth the walk because the prize is the amazing view and there's people from all over the world there every day! Thank you pioneer park!

  • andrew bowden

Great views of San Francisco and Bay area. Clint Eastwood film part of a "Dirty Harry" movie here at this location. Nice drive to the top of this famous location. More

Wonderful tower from the San Francisco fire days. Museum was wonderful. Unfortunately the public restroom in the parking lot area was out of service. Great views too!

  • Katherine Hoskins

I got to take my husband to see SF for the first time and he absolutely loved the view from Coit Tower! I couldn't get him to put the camera down! Look at Alcatraz!
