"There's plenty of activity already this season"
I attended the annual God Belongs in My City prayer walk. It started and ended at Friendship Fountain. We prayed, had fellowship, and sang praises before our walk. The walk was from Friendship Fountain to the Duval County Courthouse and back (a mile in each direction). It was a great experience to go across the blue bridge and through downtown as we stopped to pray and sing praises to God. People were very understanding of what we were doing and did not rush us to get across the streets that we had to cross. Some that were driving by even blew their horns at us. I loved it! We do this annual walk every year on the 1st Saturday of November. The fountain is currently under repair. Therefore, it is closed. Prayerfully, it will be open again for the walk next year. It is located directly on the waterfront. There are walking paths and sitting areas to enjoy. You can take some really beautiful pictures over there.
Picnic area
There are a few picnic tables in the area. I am not sure how many but not more than like 5 I think. They are under the shade trees closer to the waterway.
TODAY JUNE 2ND 2021 my family came to Jacksonville for the night on our way home from vacation to hang out by this fountain. I promised my kids something cool to watch. I let them down. The website and Googles listing lists that the friendship fountain is open without any notices of what my family walked up to. We waited until 9pm when it was dark outside and was supossed to be lit up and running. I arrived to a empty fountain under construction and barricaded by a fence. I feel there should be a temporary closed order on this page. Don't waste your time, although the river view is beautiful.
This place is gorgeous! You can park and walk the path around to the fountain and then up under the bridge. There is beautiful mosaic art work under the bridge that makes for a beautiful photo opp. Along the walkway are benches and street lights which also make a great photo opp or a nice place to rest. We went at night between 9-10pm and felt safe. There were others out walking around..of course be careful and pay attention to your surroundings. I wouldn't go out there alone at night but with a group or someone else its perfect.
This fountain can be seen from across the river in many places downtown but it's not until you get up to the fountain that you realize how massive it really is. Like many other landmarks in Jacksonville, this one is a can't miss when you're visiting the city! The panoramic views of the downtown skyline will give you some fantastic photo ops and during special events when all of the water cannons are turned on, it's a site you can't take your eyes off of!
There's plenty of activity already this season. The scene is very diverse. Families, couples and the physically active crowd. Theres plenty of benches and picnic tables. The maintenance team is currently working on a facelift. The retaining wall is having the mortar joints re-struck. The fountian has been drained and power washed preparing for a new coat of paint. I would be surprised is all the projects were not completed by 3-17-19.
Beautiful views of the St. John's River and the city, the fountain ain't too bad either. Pair it up with the Riverwalk and you've got a good 1.5-2 mile walk for the morning. Nice and breezy! The fountain itself is a good place to rest, lots of seating and it's very open. Lots of pokestops and a gym if you're a nerd like me.
Great place with great memories since childhood. Adjacent to the MOSH. This classic, colorful, water spray fountain is an enduring public space to relax and view the downtown skyline. Ironically close to the river itself, which is yet another water feature, to be admired along the Downtown Jacksonville River Walk!
Parking was $5. We took a ride on the water taxi for $10 each. The pass was good for the day. Nice picnic area next to the fountain with plenty of shade. Easy access to the river walk way and next door is the museum of science and history as well as River City Brewing Co and marina. Great beer and food.
No much to do there but the place is nice to sit and chill in! It’s very clean, neat and spacious with fresh air. It’s not far from Southbank riverwalk so after having a nice walk in the Southbank riverwalk you can end up enjoying and relaxing near the fountain. I like it and I will come back again.
A wonderful place to walk by the river. Sadly the fountains were under construction when we went with my mom while she was in from out of town and no notifications or anything were posted about it being down that's y the low rating. Other than that it's beautiful and good for walking exercises.
What all the positive reviews are on here for? We were in this area yesterday the fountain was fenced in and the fountain It's shut down. Construction everywhere roads closed, restaurant was closed The view of downtown was good but not worth going if you want to see the fountain.
It's a beautiful area to go for a walk hang out and talk. It is a beautiful view you could sit on a nice warm night and have icecream. Someone even said it was a nice proposal spot as it over looks the water and may even be fortunate enough to see dolphins like I did.
Lovely place to hang out and walk around or ride your bike. You can cross the bridge by walking or biking. The MOSH museum is right near the fountain. The river is great and you can see it from many different views. There are restaurants in the area.
We were in this area today and was filming for our InConcert 25th Anniversary for the District of Florida for my church, Iglesia Ni Cristo. This was my 1st trip to this area and it was really beautiful as well as the day. To GOD be the glory
The best place to relax and enjoy friends and family. The perfect place to do photoshoot. Seen so many walkers and runners for exercising or just to take in the scenery, or just to watch the boats go by. A great place to visit when coming
There are many good things I could say about this place. It is in close proximity to many other things that are very family-friendly. If you have children that are interested in marine life the Riverwalk is a great place and you have easy
Awesome! Views to the other side of the river and the main street bridge at night were beautiful. Especially at sunrise. We watched for dolphins and loved the way the fountain, bridge, and Jacksonville sign lit up at nightfall.
The bridges were beautifully lit but the fountain which we went to see because they said on the website that the fountain lights up at night... It wasn't. So that kinda sucked but it was still beautiful down by the water.
This is a good destination when taking a north or south river board walk. There are many benches around the fountain and river. This is a fountain but nothing else, I wish they could remodel it and make a big attraction.
A lovely tourist attraction in the city near museums and Riverwalk. Nice area for a picnic. Clean and well kept. A Brewhouse nearby but happened to be closed the day I was there. Great photo ops, very pretty fountains.
I give it 3 stars because of the beauty of the area otherwise it would be zero stars. Nothing to do in the area to keep you down here. Could be so much better. They don't even do the light/music/fountain show anymore.
Kind of disappointing that the lights don't work here anymore but that's alright. It's still a pretty fountain where you can walk and visit. The river is also easy to see from here with a view of the bright bridge.
I guess it's my own fault. Lived here 5yrs and never made it out to the fountain then my niece comes to visit and wants to go. It's shut down. She was so disappointed. Beautiful views of downtown though
This place is perfect for ANYTHING! A romantic date, family day, pictures, exercising, or just relaxing. We walked the entire area and enjoyed every second. We parked at the museum because parking cost $5 ;)
I've lived here for 3 yrs now and all the times I've been downtown the fountain lights have never worked. The area is currently under construction as well so don't go if it's solely to see this fountain.
The fountain is under construction right now.. but the river walk of course is super pretty and the walkway under the bridge has a beautiful glass/mirror art mural. Can't beat those views of the city!
Great view of the bridge, but I was disappointed by the fountain. Most of the lights were not working and the center of the fountain wasn't flowing. I'd give it 5 stars if the fountain we're fixed.
Spent an hour and a half here before the new year and watched the fireworks. Great display. They could use more benches and seating even without the excessive crowd for the new year fireworks.
The fountain by the river walk is just amazing. We went on a very foggy day but still we enjoyed. It has a long walk, about 1.2 mile you can walk thru the river and enjoy the beautiful view
It was very nice they have cleaned it up and improved it a great deal its beautiful a great place to go for a walk with a friend or just to relax . Good job Duval …
Fountain was off when we went out here. But its beautiful. If you're visiting Jacks for the first time, this is a place for you to get a good view of downtown and the city skyline.
Great gathering place downtown by the river. Good fountain presentation. Only thing that would be nice, is to have more lights with music etc. at night. Good for events.
Such a beautiful place! Right on one end of the Riverwalk, the perfect place for a nice walk. Great for the kids to ride their scooters. Safe, scenic and historic!
The lighting should be more attractive in fountain, but still it is a good place to hangout at night. Less crowd and you get a good view of Jacksonville downtown
Nice place to hang out in downtown. But there was no music playing with the fountain. Was there on Saturday evening. Otherwise nice place for walk by the river
Friendship Fountain has been one of my favorite places in Jacksonville since I was child. Went down there for the boat parade and fireworks. Had a great time!
It was a peaceful place to go and just decompress from a long day. Or if you just want to take in nature and see the dolphins, it's a tranquil place to visit.
Catch the golden hour just right and this whole place lights up. The RouxArts mural under Main St Bridge is beautiful and makes a great backdrop for pics.
Awesome view to see a part of the city. The fountain wasn’t working though. Good park to sit& relax plus the river walk to take a walk by ocean side.
Nice relaxing place to spend some time watching the river go by. There's usually someone there doing a photo shoot and today was no wxception.
Beautiful view of the city of Jacksonville. Very quiet to walk and receive the sea breezes. the dolphin practice makes the place wonderful.
It's fun, to watch the fountain and the skyline of the city. But to be honest, it's a bit old. Maybe 5 or 10 years ago it was nicer..
One of the best places to be when in Jax. Cross the bridge abd u are at the Jacksonville Landing ... the most happening place in Jax.
Very nice park, I was disappointed that the fountain was not working, this is information that should be updated on the web page.
Great place to walk around. Did not stay long due to rain. But still a beautiful location. Saw done dolphins on the water.
I was hoping for more action here, but my visit was too brief. I'm sure this fountain puts on some amazing light shows!
loved it. very pretty at nite. an close to towntown. many excellent dining inside or out..
Picnic area
yrs
No more Friendship Fountain that day. It was fenced in. The view behind the fenced area was beautiful . …
I visited for an event, and it was a great location. There was adequate parking nearby, and it was scenic.
Fantastic little park in the big city. I love the views and there’s lots of area for pictures or relaxing.
We went today and the fountain was not fully pushing out water. Nice park. I will try again next time.
Beautiful view of the city! Water taxi located at the marina. Brewery located right around the corner.
Really enjoyed the riverwalk. Very romantic and the skyline of downtown Jacksonville was beautiful.
Such a peaceful place to walk around Night time is definitely more beautiful to see the city view
The light boat parade was ok. Too many people not social distancing and no masks. We left early.
Love the view out here, its peaceful in the evening, has a restaurant near by and river taxis
Very nice place to go the fountain is under construction but its still a nice place to go
Great family oriented place. The fountain and the walk along the river is beautiful.
I very really love this place❤️, good memories with my friends and family.
It's enjoyable when lit up for special events.
