Overall a very poor experience and would not bring another pet to this clinic. We found the majority of staff to be lacking basic communication skills, empathy, and professionalism. They failed to help our pet be as comfortable as possible, in his last weeks, before we said goodbye. Dr. Singh regularly came across as outright rude and confrontational when communicating with us. Basic knowledge or “book smarts” are not sufficient in this field - in dealing with people’s beloved pets, I believe you also need some basic compassion and an ability to communicate clearly. Caring for our pet with Dr. Singh was confusing, alarming, and stressful. I felt he was alarmist and communicated in a very argumentative way throughout our many conversations with him. Dr. Dhillon appeared more empathetic and collaborative with us but we believe he failed to provide sufficient palliative care to our pet. Dr. Dhillon claimed that we refused early testing for our pet, when that was untrue. We delayed extensive testing, as to not unnecessarily stress our already sick pet. The testing Dr. Dhillon did order from an external lab took 3 weeks longer to return with results than he assured us it would. This meant that we lost valuable time with our pet and had only days to adjust to his diagnosis and then make a decision to say goodbye. Dr. Dhillon and his staff refused to take any accountability for this external test and lab, leaving us utterly helpless and in the dark for weeks. Many of our phone calls to this clinic were never returned and both vets failed to arrive on time to appointments. Both vets also refused to provide our pet with any comfort measures or medications, until it was too late. I would never bring another beloved pet to this vet clinic again. Our pet deserved better, more compassionate and cohesive care. And we deserved better, as people who loved our pet endlessly, and only wanted the best for him. Edit: In my view, all the reply to this review achieves is providing further evidence of a failure to take any accountability or demonstrate a minimal level of compassion or empathy. So incredibly impressed with this clinic. We had an emergency with our dog over the July long weekend and our regular clinic in Sherwood Park was closed. We'd taken our dog to an emergency clinic and was told it would be a 5 hour wait. We made some calls and Gateway was able to squeeze her in between other appointments, same day. We had called at 1:30pm and then got her in at 3:20pm. The service by Dr. Singh was fantastic. The staff were great and the prices were awesome, especially considering it was the Sunday of the long weekend. My favorite part of our experience was the text messages that they sent us the day after her appointment, confirming how she was progressing and if there were any issues with the medication. We ended up having to bring her back into the clinic for a follow up the next day and they were fantastic with accommodating a time. The staff were extremely friendly as well! I am a huge fan, and would definitely consider moving to this clinic on a permanent basis.

I'm late in putting in this review. My Charley had surgery June 15th 2023 and I was so worried regarding the costs and tests, but both Dr's there made me feel very comfortable about her surgery. Plus the cost was more than fair compared to what other vets were going to charge me. They were able to get me in same day and get her surgery done the next day. I'm very happy they were able to help her and my 12 year old is feeling amazing, despite her being a little slow at times she still gets the zoomies. My other doggo Walter had an allergy issue and instead of running expensive tests they were able to help us with medication which helped. He is due for a check up to get more but his constant licking had stopped along with yeast growth. I want to thank you the whole team at Gateway vet for making our dogs and many others better and loved.

We had originally scheduled a surgery for our 13 year old Yorkie with another clinic, but had an emergency over the long weekend and brought her to Gateway instead. Dr. Dhillon along with the staff treated our dog with urgency and compassion, even providing us with extra bandages and care supplies to take home free of charge. We were scheduled in for surgery the next day, and everything went smoothly. We have nothing but praise and gratitude for this hospital for their services - we’re amazed and shocked we haven’t taken our pets here sooner! Compared to our last clinic, Gateway provided fair prices with no hidden charges, caring staff and excellent and consistent communication when it came to consent, information and post-operation care. I took my cat to another vet 3 times due to a bladder issue. They had mentioned possible surgery, but kept keeping the cat for observation and IV, 3 times. When our cat got Really sick for the 4th time I felt it was time to find another vet. Dr Singh took one look at the lab reqs and documents from the other vet and shuddered. He mentioned that it is incredible stress on the cat to be to have to deal with the urinary track issue, whether it is crystals, stones, or mucous plug, let alone the IV, and Tests. The surgery should have been done the second visit, not the forth. They didn't need to run a ton of tests each time. Our cat needs medicated cat food which we can get else where but the price is about the same. The staff is great. They even resound to our text messages.

This vet was recommended from our previous vet. I had called in and talked to the office manager which was agreed I would send my records for my cat to them and she would have the dr look them over. The doctor looked them over and I was called to advise I could coke in with my cat same day. My wife and 2 children and I proceeded to make our way to the vet. The vet listened to our story said he wanted to try to do some scans came back showed us what he was concerned about but cause this was first time seeing her could not really comment on much. Gave us an antibiotic and problem went away thank you and thank you for working with our situation it is truly appreciated.

I have two dogs, one has kidney issues, and the other one is a rescue from Mexico with several serious health issues including kidney disease, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary embolisms. I have dealt with several vet clinics throughout the city and must say Gateway Vet is by far the best one I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Dr Dhillon is AH-MAZING, I'm just so glad he is our doctor now, I know my dogs are definitely getting A+ care, instead of just $$$ like the others we dealt with. Highly recommend :) We also saw Dr Singh at the clinic, on one occasion when we had an emergency, he was awesome too!!!

I started coming to this clinic when I needed a 2nd opinion for concerns i had w my Bernard/Bernese cross rescue in Feb, 2022. Dr.Singh took the time to explain the what & why of testing and everything so thoroughly, possible next steps, AND great communication via email w results of and explanation of results after a phone conversation. The front staff are so friendly, w the option of communication through text and always prompt replies. I have been back a few times and again always thorough explanations of each step and follow up the next day to check in. A great team at Gateway :)

This clinic is so good with my reactive Pomchi and their prices are very reasonable. I ended up getting his teeth cleaned and extracted and they turned out so good. He’s one happy boy with no more stinky breathe. I also really appreciated that they reached out on a few occasions to ensure he was feeling and doing good. I will continue to recommend this clinic, and if you haven’t been here yet I suggest you take your fur babies here as they will be well looked after.

I absolutely love this vet clinic they saved me big. My kid brought home a kitten that broke it's leg and they held make the repair affordable. My kids' mental health is not the greatest, and she considered this kitten to be an emotional support. I don't know what this would have done to her mental health if we couldn't find a solution and had to give up the kitten. I can't thank them enough!

This was our first appointment at this clinic. We were very pleased with Dr. Singh's gentle manner with our dog Hazel. He was able to quickly determine that she needed a minor surgery and had it done right that afternoon. He called to follow up to ensure she was doing ok and to see if we had any other questions. I really like this clinic. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Dhillon is very good with my German Shepard puppy. The clinic is very clean and open so there is lots of room to move around which can be very beneficial if you’re trying to avoid contact with other animals. The prices are also very fair. I’m looking forward to continuing to bring my Pepper here!

They were respectful & stayed calm - all of them - when dealing with our hard-to-handle cat. I know they had her best interests at heart. We are very pleased with our recent experience with Dr. Singh. Dealing with a sick dog is never an enjoyable experience and usually ends with a heafty vet bill. However, the clinic was able to fit us in very last minute and provide us with the required medication without going overboard (as I tend to do as a pet owner). Our puppy and our wallets appreciate it!

I really appreciate this clinic’s quick response to my many questions. My kitty has been very sick and I’ve been terrified but they’ve been calling and chatting with me consistently to check in with her.
