They have been taking care of my dogs and cats since I moved to Charlotte North Carolina, from California, back in 2006 Many years I would have given them a five star rating, but they have been bought and sold I believe twice now and instead of being owned by a person, they are owned by a company/Corporation Since this is happened, the bedside manner of some of the veterinarians have hired has drastically gone downhill However they still have some very good vets on staff with good bedside manner's – and the staff has always been excellent 1) after the changes they have hired some vets with some very bad bedside manner, and some with very good bedside manner's – Dr. Hayden is one of the best vets they have with the great bedside manner. I've Seen some negative reviews on him but that usually comes along with people saying they are being pressured to have their animals fixed. That is more of an issue with the business in general and not the vet – even the nice ones are pressured by the business to really push getting your animal fixed among a few other things – and that comes to my second issue 2) really push having your animal fixed, and make you feel like you're a bad "parent" for not wanting your animal fixed either because you can't afford it or because you don't want to. Many pros and cons to fixing your pet and I think there are way too many cons versus the pros to have your animal fixed IF Your animal – especially dogs, are indoor dogs. We have four dogs that are indoors, and have plenty of outside time with in a large three-quarter acre fenced in backyard... After two of our elder dogs were fixed many years ago, they got fat lazy and wouldn't play or exercise… These dogs are now seven years old and they should be playing and having fun… And both times the vet told us that this wouldn't happen and it did. We also now have 2, 2 year-old dogs..and Ivory lab and a German Shepherd and we've elected not to have them fixed – all of our dogs are female..and they do not have the problems that the other two had right after they got fixed. And as part of them pushing on you they scare you with all these horror stories of your dog getting cancer if you don't get them fixed. I graduated from college in California that is one of the best vetnary colleges in the country so many of my college friends are vets, and they have told me not to listen to the scare tactics from Stonycreek and that the risk of cancer and other negative problems from not having your animal fixed are exaggerated massively by that company. Plus what would you rather have for your animal question a long life where they're fat and lazy and don't want to play? Or a life where they're playing and having a great time but there's a chance they may only live to be 10 to 12 versus 15 to 16? 3) rude vets. Some of the vets they have hired over the years are just terrible – terrible bedside manner, argumentative, etc. – Dr. Hayden is one of the best they have with a great bedside manner, but even Dr. Hayden kept mentioning fixing our two other dogs several times until I told them to stop mentioning it and never mention it again. Actually had to put that in all of our animals files to never mention fixing our animals to us again and they have honoured. 4) this is a big negative. This has to do with our dogs heartworm medications, and we have problems getting them almost every few months because Stonycreek does not like to approve heartworm medicine if they have not recently seen your animal if u buy from a place other than them. Seems that they do everything in their power to make it difficult for you to buy heartworm medicine from a third-party That's why give them three out of five stars. They are a good place to take your animal to and they do have great services and they do care about your animals. They would have five stars if they weren't so concerned about making more money and trying to get you to buy everything through them, and hiring vets with better bedside manners

I have been going here since I brought my cat from NY to NC in 2015. I have a three strike rule and this past weekend was the last straw. • The first time I took my cat here I was told she could not be on a leash (unlike my previous vet in NY where carriers were not mandatory) and had to bring her in a carrier. No big deal. During that initial exam I was advised of what tests they recommended. I asked the vet tech for a bill summary for all recommended tests before I made my decision. When I asked her if this was for visit one of two, or a total cost I was informed total. Yes they have signs everywhere that you pay for what you get each visit. But that was not what I had asked for. When faced with the second bill it was put on me (rudely) that I misunderstood and the vet tech informed me correctly. • I brought my cat back a week later for part two and the same vet tech in a fake sweet voice said to my cat "omg why did mommy put you in such a horrible pet carrier. She needs to get you a new one". I could not believe she had said such a thing. She was in the airline soft pet carrier I had bought from Delta and used to transport her from NY. • The last straw was this weekend. I adopted a new cat a few months ago and was told to bring him to the vet within the next year. I called to set up the appointment hoping to align it with my other cats appointment since I work and travel a lot. When I called I was informed my other cat was not due until 2018 and they could get my second cat in two weeks from now. I am glad I asked at the end of the appointment because she is actually due in Sept 2017. So I can no longer trust the financial information I am given to be correct, that the vet techs (at least one) will be respectful and professional, and that the general information I request is correct. Be warned.

I have been to so many different vets trying to get my cat examined. Each and every time they fail to do it and apologize; usually with some minor injury to my cat from her harming herself. Its difficult to express how ridiculously aggressive my cat gets with vets, but failing with five different vets gives you an idea of how challenging it is. For the first time ever, a vet, namely Dr. Hight, managed to not only give her a rabies shot, but also managed to give her a dewormer. While we need to sedate her to give her an examination in the future, this was incredible progress. This is in addition to the wonderful service I received. I'm one of those problem customers that asks a million questions, but the staff was very patient and answered everything as thoroughly as they could. I couldn't get my cat in a carrier at home (without sustaining incredible injuries), but she will let me do just about anything else. So I carried her to my car without one and the office even supplied me a crate that was easier to use to transport her inside when I arrived--they even let me keep it afterwards as taking her out of it would have been extremely difficult. If you're looking for staff who care and are inviting in addition to being capable in their craft, this is the place to go. Sure, it's not largest practice full of superfluous ambience, but they care and are efficient. That's certainly more important to me than a waterfall backdrop when I walk in the door. Could not possibly recommend higher.

Absolutely terrible place to take a pet for routine checkups. The simplest of things are not noticed by the staff who are more interested in checking the boxes and collecting their fee than caring for your pet. I took my dog in to their office for his annual heart worm test along with a cat for an annual physical. After completing the process I checked out and went home. As I was reviewing the bill from the visit I noticed the they had not given my dog shots he needed. The next day I noticed he was developing an ear infection, also completely missed by the vet during the visit. To top it all off, before they would approve a new prescription for his heart worm preventative I had to take him back to the office for a physical that they had not preformed during his first visit! To sum it up, in two visits they missed an ear infection, routine shots, a required physical, and in the end would only approve 6 months worth of heart worm preventative because "our records indicate he has missed a does of the heart worm medicine". If they had checked their records in the first place no doses would have been missed, nor would I have had to take off from work twice in less than 2 weeks to renew his heart worm. I will never take my pets to this office again, and I would strongly recommend no one else using them either.

Melissa : This is the only place I will go to and I always recommend them to others. We have had my border collie/terrier for eight years and have been patients of Hight since 2005. They are extremely flexible and, when I call to make an appointment, they will let me know if my dog is behind on any shots but never push me. I liked being informed but yet I don't feel solicited which is great! We boarded her for a week in November of 2006 and they called me, while I was out of town, to ask permission to administer a test resulting from some of the mandatory bloodwork that was required for boarding. I really appreciated that, especially since I had said "do anything she needs done while we're gone" That's a blank check and yet they were responsible and professional by calling me first. I think everyone there is great and they let me go in with my dog for appointments and are overall, a fantastic place to use.

Even after moving from Charlotte, we made the drive out to have our dog cared for by Dr. Hight because we couldn't find the same level of care and kindness anywhere else. From the way they are upfront about all options and costs before assuming care costs, to the kind way they care about your pet and their families, I never had to worry about my Socks being treated here. They broke the news to us about Socks' cancer in a loving and supportive way and gave him the best care possible up until his passing. It really made the difference to know we had REAL dependable care for him. I will always be grateful for this place and highly recommend them to all pet owners!! When the time comes for us to have another fur baby after grieving Socks, we 1000% will be back here. Thank you, Dr. Hight!

At first I was slightly disappointed with the receptionist. Wasn't very friendly and didn't make me feel welcomed if you will like I did back home in NY. I had my appointment early in the morning and had to wait in the room for about 30/35 minutes before the tech came in, but was exceptionally nice as well as caring and understanding about my cats issue. Doctor came in a short time later and within 2 minutes determined it was fleas he picked up from the apartment we moved into. Prescribed steroids and vectra medicine and he's already feeling much better! I was shocked at how inexpensive the visit was, under a $100! I would recommend this vet to anyone for their loved ones to get the care and help they need! They were very intelligent and great! Thank you so much!

I had taken my pet here for over ten years but when my pet needed a referral to specialist they took their time in doing it and claimed they did it. But in fact four days of follow-up with specialist office it was verified they never did send over referral. My pet was in so much pain and for this vet clinic to be in this business and claim they care, there's really no excuse for this. Furthermore, follow-up was lacking as provided correct number for them to return call but yet calls not made to that number. In conclusion, within this establishment right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing and when it's brought up, that things aren't right, referrals not done, things are lacking, all they do is blame customer who doesn't work there.

I've had a fair amount of experience with Hight Vet over the past year due to my accident prone Lab, and have had only positive experiences. Their incredibly friendly and helpful staff have even gone out of their way to accommodate the fact that my dog doesn't always react well to other dogs and they've always been willing to answer simple questions over the phone for us. Every vet and tech I've experienced at Hight has been pleasant and helpful, but I must give specific kudos to Dr. Melanie, who has been so helpful and sweet in all of her dealings with us and our dog. She has gone out of her way to see that our pooch is cared for and has secured some life-time patients as a result. I cannot recommend Hight Veterinary and Dr. Melanie enough!

I had taken my dog there for 14 years since he was a puppy. We recently had to put him to sleep. We had to use the emergency vet since it was over a weekend. Although i've never had many issues with them in the past, I'm really shocked they haven't reached out and acknowledged his passing. I called them the day after to let them know what happened and almost 2 weeks later - nothing. Not usually one to make a big deal but this was a very rough experience and I'm just really surprised I haven't heard from them. 14 years and thousands of dollars later I'd have at least expected a phone call. Maybe i'm just being overly sensitive but I personally feel like i'm entitled to some acknowledgement.

I brought my 6 year old Bull Mastiff there on an emergency because of hot spots. They had my old information from 15 years ago when I brought my cat in (in college!) The staff was very friendly, caring, and gentle with my dog, who had more issues going on then I originally realized. The office was clean and spacious. Dr. Woods was very knowledgeable and was patient with my questions concerning my dog. They did tests that my other Vet did not and found other problems that should have been noticed earlier. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good Vet in the University area.

After recently moving to the area I needed a vet for a sick cat. I chose these folks over several nearby me based on the reviews I read here. After my visit I can see why they get such great reviews. The staff here is great! They're very calm, friendly and caring. They treated our cat and family with respect, asked permission when they should and explained everything well. They called to check in on our pet and sent a nice sympathy card with a special note and signature from each employee when she died. I'll be a customer here for all our vet needs in Charlotte.

Both Dr. Hight and Kylie were amazing! I have three cats and a dog that have been having issues. I was extremely worried about them, but Dr. Hight took great care of things. This is a man that knows his stuff and cares about the wellbeing of your pets. Kylie made a personal connection with my animals, and because of this she was able to handle them in ways many others can't. She got them to cooperate with ease, and they really seemed to love her. All in all a top notch veterinary experience. Amazing staff. 5/5 would recommend!

All three of my girls were welcomed and doted on by the staff. We got put into an exam room super quickly. Carly (I think that’s how you spell her name) was super sweet and amazing, very personable. Her and Dr. Hight were such an amazing help and very knowledgeable. The prices are very agreeable and similar to what I had paid in Fayetteville compared to other clinics in Charlotte/University area. 10/10 would love to come here again and highly recommend. Bonus! My cats actually came out to explore a bit which is a first!

I was really worried about finding another good vet after moving to the area; my pup has always loved going to the vet, and I want to keep it that way. On her first visit, it was hard to get her back in the car! The staff was friendly and very accommodating; we needed to be seen quickly for an emergency reason and they got us in promptly. Prices were very reasonable, and they were so thorough in figuring out what was wrong with my pup. I'd definitely recommend this vet to any pet owner. My dog can't wait to go back!

I am new to the area and was worried about finding a vet. My first visit here, I had to put down my cat of 19 years. Dr. Hight and his staff were unbelievably caring and made a heartbreaking event as good of an experience as possible. Dr. Hight did not make me feel pressured and made sure I was well-informed about all of my options while also being very realistic with me. I wasn't charged outrageous amounts for arbitrary things, and I would certainly recommend him and his practice to anyone looking for a vet.

I have been a customer of Hight Veterinary Hosp. for more than a decade and cannot speak highly enough about their quality of care and compassion of the staff. They have taken care of my dogs from puppy through senior and only ever been excellent. Their prices are reasonable and my dogs don't hesitate to go to the vet. I have used their boarding services at the last minute due to family emergency and it was never a problem. Whenever I'm asked about veterinary service in Charlotte, my answer is always Hight.

We have been with Dr. Hight and also now Dr. Melanie for almost 20 years. They have shared the good and the bad with us. Patty is awesome too at the front desk. We recently had to put down our beloved Cooper from bone cancer and Dr. Melanie was with us every step of the way. When it came time she was wonderful. Her bedside manner was compassionate loving and patient with us and Cooper. We could not have felt any more supported. Thank you Dr. Melanie for all that you did for us and Cooper!

I wouldn't trust the care of my miniature dachshund anywhere else! Dr. Hight is very thorough and the front office staff is seriously the best! Patti has helped me with every last annoying paperwork need I have had. They really know us (both my dog and me) and are very patient with us both! They are responsible and have better prices than other nearby places. I am very grateful for all of them and the care they give to my best friend.

Extremely helpful and reliable!! My pet had an issue with his eye, the vet conducted a thorough and accurate examination to determine the problem. There was no pressure to buy anything that wasn't necessary and provided home remedies. Before my cross-country trip home, they sat down and advised ways to keep him from having an anxiety episode in the car. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for quality veterinary services!

We have been coming here for a couple of years for both of my pets, and while the service has been pretty great, Carly has been especially outstanding in her kindness and customer service skills. She took the time to answer any and all questions, and was very thorough with her explanation. We moved across Charlotte a while back, but will continue to drive the 45 minutes to get the phenomenal service from those like Carly.

Reasonable prices and a very friendly and thorough staff. They understand that for many pet owners, price can sometimes be preventitive for in depth testing, and offer multiple possible testing routes at varied price points while explaining the benefits and drawbacks of each. They also offer grooming services, which we used once and were happy with. Overall a quality establishment offering top notch service.

This place has been my family's vet for years. Now that I have my own dog who seems to be accident prone, I've had experience as the dog mom. All the vets here are wonderful, but Dr. Melanie has gone above and beyond to take care of our girl. They put the animals first here, and will work with you on the rest. All staff is extremely kind and helpful. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We hav been coming to this clinic for well over 15 years and have always had awesome experiences. The advice, the exams, the friendly staff are just some of the reasons to come here. Some people say that they’re a little pricey….. so is your doctor. You get what you pay for in medicine, whether it’s for you or your pet. I gave 5 stars because 6 was not an option.

This veterinary hospital has been extremely thoughtful and kind towards our cat, Catniss. Catniss is not too fond of the vet usually but here she is not too scared and they go above and beyond to make her feel at home. We plan on bringing her to this veterinary hospital from now on as she is getting older. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Dr. Hight, his colleagues, and staff have cared for our cats for 18 years; they are thorough, compassionate, and care about the pets they treat. Their prices are on high side of reasonable, but their service and personal touch merits the additional expense. They are up front about all costs and provide several alternatives when appropriate.

My dog is usually very anxious when it comes to being around other dogs and new people but they made her feel so welcome and the vet that came out to get Sky from my car was super nice, sadly I did not catch her name. I was referred here by my wife after bringing her dog here. She’s been bringing her dog here since it was a puppy and the staff has always been very friendly and informative. They take good care of our pets and our dog actually looks forward to going to the vet and greets the staff with lots of jumps and licks.

I love the staff here. I have two dogs that have been patients here. I take the dogs in for groomings and they loooove the groomer. The medical staff are very professional and you can tell how much they love the animals that come in. I dont have to worry about my pups being fearful of their vet visits!

Love Dr. Hight and all the staff. The only Doc for my furry family. He really cares and always has the time to explain the problem in as much depth as you need plus carefully goes over all your options in easy to understand language. Prices are always fair and they can get you in quickly if needed.

I only use them for boarding, so I can’t speak regarding their other vet services. I can say that their boarding is excellent and the boarding manager is very nice and I feel like they really care about the dogs they are boarding. I’ll keep taking my dogs there every time I go on vacation.

Great experience! I never had a dog in the US, and I had a lot of questions during my first visit. The doctor and the nurses were soooo patient with me and answer all of my questions. It was amazing how willing were to help me familiarize myself with everything. I am really thankful.

My first time coming to this vet and I went to take my kitten to get a physical and a shot here today and all of the staff were so kind!! My kitten felt comfortable and they fed him lots of treats! I was very satisfied with my visit today and am excited to come back!

I took my cats here for about two years. Although the staff is friendly enough, they don't make an effort to make it feel personal. They seem more concerned with selling you products or services. I ultimately decided to go somewhere else for my cats veterinary needs.

My fluffy has been coming here the past few years and has loved it!! The staff is super nice and always treats my fluffy with care! It’s also super convenient that it’s right next to UNC Charlotte and that you get a student discount for your pet!! Great place. :)

The staff is amazing and very kind. My Charlie was acting weird and they got me in very quickly and understood my panic. They were patient with my questions and explained the diagnosis to my understanding. I highly recommend them for all our four legged babies .

Great service and they take good care of their pets. They make sure that you feel comfortable with pamphlets that warn you about pet dangers and picture of different breeds. Height animal hospital is a great place to bring your pet if sick or other.

They always treat us like family here. Even when I move away from Charlotte they will still be my dogs vet. The doctor has personally called us and checked on our dog before. I would suggest this vet to my friends and family.

Always take good care of my dog and pretty efficient. I moved to Huntersville a few years ago but continue to come into Charlotte for Hight because I don't think I could find a vet that loves my pup as much as they do!

We have boarded our dog, Toby, here countless times and had treatments done when he is sick. They always take good care of him and the staff is always very friendly! Would definitely recommend bringing your pet here.

It was a emergency, I thought my 2.8 pound chihuahua was going to die from a seizure after a fall, and they saw me in 20 minutes. They were so professional and kind and assured us that she was going to be okay.

We've been bringing our fur baby here for years. Last year we moved over an hour away. Most people would find a vet nearby but the quality or service and the care we receive at Hight makes it worth the drive.

Friendly atmosphere for both pets and owners, fast service and very convenient location right next to the UNCC engineering campus. I take my cat here for all the check ups she needs. Definitely recommend it!
