"BIG NO FOR THIS STORE"
"The inventory is not great nor a wide variety"
"Update: I worked with Audrey and the 2nd store manager, Kara, and they both promptly addressed my concerns"
"Extreme rude costumer service, I have been a costumer for homesense for over 15 years, very large orders for my short term rental business, this location has horrible staff, Scott D not sure if he is the store manager acted unprofessional and almost disrespectful when I had to do a return w no receipt, I had confirm with a staff member that it was totally fine to do the return and to get a store crédit before I brought the items in"
"hey homesense! ik you have the same developer as winners, and i'm going to tell you things u can learn from winners"
BIG NO FOR THIS STORE. I rate a store based on the following: 1- Customer Service. The staff in general are amazing, HOWEVER, the SALES MANAGER (Mr. Larry O) is terrible. A- He is extremely confused between his actual role as a Sales Manager that he is been hired and payed for which is obviously is to improve the business and sales AND what he is apparently doing as just a security guard chasing customers as a police offices chasing thieves for where to where. We went to this branch coming from Kanata to buy some few arts because we didn’t find what we wanted in Kanata, so we wanted to try this branch, but it was terrible experience JUST BECAUSE OF THIS PERSON (LARRY O). In general, it’s never comfortable to shop WHILE some one is watching you all the time. Also, he intrupted our shopping to ask if we were taking all the paintings we put on the ground TOTALLING 4, asking if we are buying all of them, in fact WE WERE GOING TO BUY EVEN MORE, BUT WE CHANGED OUR MIND BECAUSE OF THIS LESS EXPERINCED SALES MANAGER WHILE WE FELT ITS A HIGE DISRESPECT. I suggest if someone is reading this review in Homesense head office, to give the proper training for this sales manager or at least send him to another branch to be trained as to Kanata branch for example where he can learn the real meaning of the job of a SALES MANAGER. Anyway, we ended up buying just 3 arts (because we had to, while we hv some important guests visiting us this weekend and we don’t hv enough time) for the high blood I got dealing with the ignorance of this gentleman. 2- Location: is perfect. 3- Variety of products: not really, I seen more products in other branches than this one. 4- Parking availability: Perfect. 5- Prices: Same as all other branches, good prices. Recommendation: TRY NOT TO VISIT THIS STORE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO, AND IF YOU HAVE TIME TO GO TO MERIVALE, KANATA OR ORLEANS. The CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT when shopping anywhere, while THE TOP OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE EMPLOYEE IN THIS STORE IS WEAK AND LACKING THE EXPERIENCE. I WONDER IF YOU HAVE A RETURN HOW WOULD YOU BE TREATED AT THIS BRANCH?!!!! INTRAUPTIBG THE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE OF CUSTOMERS IS BAD BAD BAD. BAD EXPERIENCE.
The inventory is not great nor a wide variety. Staff members were pleasant with the exception of the managers. The managers at this location need an improvement to their attitude & tone and are not very helpful. An opportunity to provide good customer service and direction on how best to get help turned into the female manager gaslighting the customer for a mishap created by a new staff member of theirs. When your personal policy is to be lazy and simply refer your customer to head office instead of assisting at the customer service desk (on a very slow day), it's not impressive to your customers. And then, the male supervisor at the check-out counter who was overseeing the register decided to gaslight the customer as if it was their fault that the new clerk didn't understand why the tag price and receipt price didn't match up and as if the customer needs to explain where discounts come from on the receipt, how to match SKU numbers, and how return prices are calculated. Finally, if you have a vision impairment watch out, the male manager will berate you for not reading the fine print on a coupon instead of gracefully explaining their store policy and leaving it at that. I didn't know that people were expected to save their "used, consumed" coupon cards after the one-time use. It's pretty commonplace to throw away a coupon after you use it. This manager took his time to power trip and berate us twice for not saving our coupon as if we would foresee having to return something and needing to explain to a clerk who can read the receipt for themselves...(sarcasm). Not planning to go back to this store.
Update: I worked with Audrey and the 2nd store manager, Kara, and they both promptly addressed my concerns. Both were great to work with. Will boost my rating as appropriate. Found a rug we really liked and it rang up at the sticker price, but staff/manager refused to sell it to us because "it was too cheap"(not even exaggerating, this was their actual reason). Not going to shop at a store that doesn't honour their prices. On top of that, the manager claimed that someone switched the prices, even though I'm not sure how you can switch price sticker and barcode without destroying the sticker itself, and it seemed like she was alluding to us having switched it ourselves. Avoid this store at all costs.
Extreme rude costumer service, I have been a costumer for homesense for over 15 years, very large orders for my short term rental business, this location has horrible staff, Scott D not sure if he is the store manager acted unprofessional and almost disrespectful when I had to do a return w no receipt, I had confirm with a staff member that it was totally fine to do the return and to get a store crédit before I brought the items in. Scott D didn’t like it and issued me store warning! And when I told him that I have confirmed with his staff and she confirmed it to him he just kept ignoring and spoked to me in a very disrespectful way and a big tone. I will never go back there

I always love a trip to Home Sense. The store is always clean and well organized. Their stock changes all the time and their prices can't be beat. This is my go-to for pet toys and pet dishes. They always have a great selection of picture frames, which are so hard to come by these days. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. I can always find a great gift there, as well as a little for myself.
I usually enjoy looking into the different sections of Home Sense, and I often like the selections. However, since I have moved to the area I find that this particular Home Sense does not often get new stuff. I can barely find the things I need, if I do find something, there are not many options. They have half-empty shelves and I'm wondering if Covid has anything to do with this!
I had a great experience shopping at HomeSense today. It was my first time visiting this location and I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and layout of the store. I found many things to purchase as Christmas gifts and I will definitely head back to shop the next time I am in the area
We got so much stuff for our home decor from home sense. It’s our goto location for all home decor stuff. There prices are good as well & sometimes you can find good deals too. Barrhaven, Ottawa location is pretty big compared to other locations & love there customer service too.
Possibly the prettiest and most organized home sense I've ever been in . Usually I feel overwhelmed with all of the things to look at all over the place but I didnt get that feeling. Everything was very neat and organized - even the clearance sections! …
I just bought a hammock tent and the staff were awesome!!! They took it apart for me and helped me load it in my car. I saved so much time and and money having skipped delivery. I'm blown away how nice and helpful the staff were. Great experience!
Some lovely decorative things to spruce up your home. Just browsing the aisles was inspiring. Prices looked reasonable and there were many items on sale as well. I will be going back to check for unique seasonal items throughout the year.
Love the staff here! I'm visually challenged and complimented management on how intuitive and comfortable they have been with me. (Staff in many stores are awkward with people with special needs) Well done …
Lots of detxor options, but prices are on the higher side. For a while, rugs were great deals here. But now, not so much. IKEA has better deals on rugs. Homesense would sell a chipped mirror for $60 yikes.
I and my wife enjoy shopping in HomeSense. Good and unique merchandises available to customers. I bought a nice area rug for the house entrance with dimensions that weren't available on other stores.
Not bad variety but certainly not extensive for a home sense. Connected to a Loblaws and I don't think the space was enough to give lots of items but it could be a decent place to start decorating.
I'm not sure why but this location is not quite as good as others. It is a neat place to visit and there are many great things at very good prices. Still worth looking around.
Always a good deal to be found here. Love the changing seasonal selection. So much fun to come here with a coffee and just browse. The staff are curteous and friendly.
They have great products and home decor here. Could easily spend hours and looking at things that could make you buy more than you need at times. Very nice decor.
Not the cheapest but the selection is really impressive. I took away one star for having 50 things I didn't know I needed and not the one item i went in for.
A pretty well stocked Home Sense. While it may not be the biggest I find stuff here that the other stores sell out of. And they do well with seasonal items.
From the outside it looked as if they would have the most interesting things to sell. I was quite disappointed with the product line once I was inside.
Although I was rushed I found everything I was looking for. Store well layed out. Service very friendly. No hassle returns. Very happy customer.
Warm and helpful customer service. I was very happy to find an item that I was looking for, which was the last one available on the counter.
Inventory is just meh, and parking lot is usually busy and dumb. I'll come here if I haven't found something at a different location first.
love this store. Beautiful items changing weekly. A bit pricey for some things but reasonable for others.
Great location and really nice items. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
THIS LOCATON SMELLS BAD MAKE IT SMELL LIKE RIVERSIDE SOUTH KUMON
One of the bigger home senses in Ottawa worth checking out.
