Bog-standard 2-platform Metro station, 2nd from the end of the poor old Werribee line. Almost adequate number of Myki readers and multiple top-up machines. I’m bored, so here’s the rundown on our little outpost in the west... Parking Free parking, on both sides of the tracks, but it’s woefully inadequate so you’re in pot-shot territory after about 7.15-7.30am weekdays. School holidays you might get lucky as late as 8am, but don’t bet on it. Weekends you’re fine to get a spot even mid-morning Saturdays. Limited free parking in surrounding streets, and those and the 3-hour car park attached to the neighbouring shopping center are patrolled/fines issued (currently $81). Follow the locals’ lead - if they’re not parking there, it’s because it’s expensive. There’s no public/pay-as-you-go except the hospital car park on the south side of the tracks ($10/day, June 2018 - 5 minute walk to station). No word on whether the goldmine of money from fines will ever be used to help relieve the parking problem (/end sarcasm). Timetable/City Loop access Standard Weekday timetable has inbound/outbound services every 20 minutes. Peak is 9-10 minutes for a while, but never long enough. Weekdays most run semi-express (skipping the Laverton loop and stations between Newport and Footscray, but stops at South Kensington) for a journey time around 40 minutes. Change at North Melbourne (go to platform 1 or 3) for City Loop trains (also possible from Footscray (platform 1) and Southern Cross (check the board for next service)). Because Hoppers and surrounding areas are dormitory suburbs, expect overcrowding on all peak services (including some weekend ones). During peak outbound, you won’t get a seat after Flinders Street, or maybe the first five people on at Southern Cross. Weekends are stopping-all-stations deals, again approx every 20 minutes but they include the Lavo loop, which pushes trip times from a City Loop or Flinders Street start point up to nearly an hour. Unlike weekdays, weekends run directly through the City Loop both directions. Busses Local bus services run by CDC Victoria available to Werribee, Wyndham Vale, Williams Landing, Tarneit and Laverton Stations, plus regular-ish services to Werribee Plaza (now Pacific Werribee - the signs changed 2+ years ago, but it’d be a challenge to find a local who calls it by its new name; the busses still say “Plaza”). And several eclectic local routes - the drivers are unusually helpful and will point you in the right direction if you’re a bit disoriented. All busses start/stop on the northern side of the tracks, in the main car park. Skybus is available from Werribee Plaza - jump a 166 or 167 from Hoppers Station for a 5-minute connection. Level Crossing Inbound and outbound services never seem to sync, so avoid the area if you’re driving and/or in a hurry to get across the tracks - having the boom gates stay up for 30 seconds to a minute before they come down again for the next train isn’t unusual. And then something will come along the standard gauge track just to add to the fun. Note that Hoppers is not included in the current government’s “eradicate level crossings” plans. Welcome to safe Labour territory. Extra Services The little cafe on the outbound side (platform 2) will do you an adequate coffee for those mornings when it’s all just a bit much; prices at the high-end of “city normal” - expect to pay $5+ for a large. Currently (2018) is open long hours. EFPOS avail, but a $10 minimum. The station has the regulation armed PSO presence from 6pm to quell unrest, and you’ll run into “Authorised Officers” about once a week if you travel at regular times/days, even outside peak, so keep your Myki in credit and touched on. Werribee line, although by no means unique, suffers delays and cancellations regularly. Be prepared to run late/miss connections. That’s life on Melbourne’s public transport. Replacement busses are made available when service is fully disrupted (about once a month at the moment...). Available from the exisiting public bus area in the main car park.

This station is pretty average. The shelter is okay, some parts of the platform have good access, other parts do not. Same goes with seating. Decor: It is your average 1960's/70's station. Drab brown brick building with flat roof. Nothing much to write about. Transport links: There are buses and a taxi rank on the Northern side of the crossing. What is the worst thing about this station is the access, there is only one entrance onto the railway crossing (which gets backed up whenever there is a Up train). The carpark fills up quick in the mornings as well.

The people who work at the tuck Shop on the train station ripped my mate off today and charged him$7.50 for an egg and bacon sandwich $5.50 is the usual price after giving them $20 and charging him $14 my friend got a coffee but no egg and bacon he got up set when they changed him $14 and me only $10 egg and bacon sandwich and coffee how rude and irresponsible were they need to look/ listen and/ learn the customer is all ways right. Best to change the correct price in the future $10 median coffee and bacon and eggs sandwich...

Awful, awful "cafe". Was browsing the food choices after ordering a coffee. The server offered a burger, I asked the options and chose the chicken. Came just as a crumbed patty with fried egg. I tried to point out that I didn't eat egg but the woman was too either too busy chatting with her ear pods in or chose to ignore me. It cost me $9 as well. Threw out the egg.

The toilet is always locked. Just saw a cleaner and asked if she had the key and she said no. Then when I walked to the front of the platform, she opened the toilet for her own use. LOL.... What is the point of having a locked toilet? And worst, advertised that this station has a toilet. False advertising!

They should make more car park spaces , I work in city and there is not even one spot available everyday and then I have to park far away in street and even the nearest streets are now full of cars , it’s too much walk towards station and car is not safe there also . I always tap Myki card

Parking! that's the only issue. All filled up by 7:45 am or earlier. Needs twice the amount of parking that is there currently. Other than that smooth operations at the stations :)

Cross the road there is a market and Kabab shop. Post office is also nearby. Indian sweets shop is also there. Trains comes every 10 mins. Woolworths and Coles are also nearby.

Second station on the Werribee line. Always busy of a morning with parking filling up early. You'll get a seat in the morning rush if you get on here.

  • Frederick Fenley

Horrible station for pedestrian access. No crossing on the western side of the level crossing. Idiot motorists queueing over the level crossing.

  • Sam B

Great station, the new renovations with the level crossing removal are so cool. Can't wait to visit when it's ready!

  • Rcalltypes

It's getting over populated, a multi level car park is needed at the railway station.
