I am thoroughly unimpressed with the way that Indigo, Chapters and Coles handles employee data - past and present. Despite being only legally required to hold onto past employee data for five years, Indigo continued to hold onto all of mine, including address, bank information, SIN, among other pieces of information, since I left in 2016. I've been notified by mail today that my information was in fact part of the cybersecurity breach. While Indigo is offering two years of credit monitoring, the effects of such a breach can be life-long. While it's probably true that most companies are vulnerable to hackers/breaches of information, companies should AT THE VERY LEAST delete the personal data of past employees the moment they are legally permitted to do so. There is ZERO reason Indigo should still have had my personal information on file. Not only did they lose me as an employee nearly seven years ago, they have now also lost me as a customer. While Indigo Kenaston was not directly responsible for this breach, this is the location at which I worked. As I cannot post a Google review for Chapters/Indigo more generally, this is where I will post it.
I don’t know what it is about this location or the staff training at this location but for some reason the service here is terrible. I go to this location because it’s the closest to our place but every time I do, I tell myself I shouldn’t go back. The staff here, barring a handful, are just so inattentive. Unlike in other locations, team members approach me when I need help before I even ask for help. Here, I’ve made eye contact or try to look for someone to help me and it’s always a struggle. Then to make matters worse, once I finally have someone’s attention, they never know the answer to any of my questions! To top off a less than ideal shopping experience, the tills are so slow. Even picking orders up is a slow process at this location. I’ve never had to wait as long at Polo Park or St. Vital. Either the scanner is not working or the staff member helping me purposefully walks extremely slow like they don’t want to be at work. Honestly, if you can, shop at the other locations.
This store is packed full of a variety of books, which was much nicer to see versus McNally. Problem is that they need more diverse journals, not just the same one with different covers. Also their stock of Leuchtturm1917 is very small with little options, which is odd in this bullet journaling world. Tons of Moleskine though. Their shelves are a bit too packed to the point it's hard to pull a book out and put it back. Their home goods are beautiful, but way too pricey, especially for something as simple as a water bottle. Lastly, during my most recent visit, I was browsing a shelf looking for a specific book, and an employee literally stepped in front of me and blocked the shelf off. Didn't say excuse me, nothing. It was like a malfunctioned sliding door appeared out of nowhere. They didn't even acknowledge me. I had to wait several minutes for her to browse a bit, put a couple books away and then carry on.
Received an email from Indigo about some fantastic sale items - checked stock online to confirm it was in store, then raced down to purchase. Annnnd it was full price - the sale price is only online. And they wouldn't match their online price. But - here's the rub - I could order online and have it shipped to the store. Wait . . . what?? I'm here now!! Staff is great at the store - I'm just upset about their corporate policies. Left the store, and within about 3 minutes of research found Amazon has a better sale price. Go figure. If I'm leaving the store, I'm going to be a bit more dilligent about pricing. Surprise Indigo management!! You lost the sale completely ( and a few future ones) due to policies that best belonged there about 15 years ago. Mirror the sale prices in your emails at your stores!!
Dog friendly, which is a huge plus. However, they removed access to the kiosks that allow you to look up what items are available. Now you have to look up items on your phone using a QR code or find an employee to look things up for you. So basically, if you have no phone or it's dead and you have an anxiety disorder or the store is busy. Good luck finding your item. Weird choice to make the store more accessible for dogs than people with anxiety. I'd be giving it a much better score otherwise as the employees are very lovely.
So I went to this store to get a book club book on Boxing Day. It wasn't crazy, no massive lines and plenty of staff to help with questions. A good experience. But then it got better! The gentleman who took my money explained to me what the Heather's Picks stickers meant and I was delighted. Apparently if you buy a Heather's Picks book you can return it for a refund AT ANY TIME EVEN WITHOUT A RECEIPT AND IN ANY CONDITION!!! I DID NOT KNOW THIS!!! Anyway, I was impressed and might buy more books from Indigo going forward.
Ordered a book on the website as a gift for a friend the week before Christmas, had it delivered to this location. A couple days before Christmas, I got the "your order is ready" email, and I showed up in store. Well stocked store, with a great atmosphere. They had a online pickup line aside from the main check out line so a staff member met me and I gave them my order number. They grabbed me my book, and I was out, all in 10 mins. Solid experience. And I don't even read books.
Since before I started grade school, I have been a reader. It is wonderful that we still have bookstores where you can take some time to peruse and choose. Indigo does a very nice job of presenting their wares. There always seems to be a good number of desirable roads offered at reduced prices. Even if you don't by a coffee from the adjoining Starbucks, the aroma adds comfort to the ambience. We are good customers to this treasured outlet.
Visited the Kenaston location tonight and was told by the store manager that the store could not price match the same book on the Indigo website. Specifically a Harry Potter collection that was $75 in store and $63 online and shipped to my door for free. I tried to support my local business tonight but left the store empty handed. This 'store policy' to not price match the Indigo website will just make me stay home and order online.
This store is great! It is huge and has so much selection I almost didnt even know where to start. They have staff who are willing to help you out, and come up to you if you look like you may need help. The checkout was very nice. The person who helped me was super upbeat and happy. They have children's books, and romance, and anything you can think of book related. Also tons of notebooks, and a few other items. Great experience!
If you're a bookworm, Indigo is the place to go whenever you get a book craving. With all the latest bestsellers, you'll always find a book appealing to you. There's also a specialized section in the store dedicated to preteens and younger with toys to keep them occupied. Some if the prices are a little absurd so make sure to check other stores too before you decide to buy a book. But overall, a solid and modern-feeling store.
Was searching for a book online and found one that I wanted. I didn't buy it online because I wanted to see it first, and maybe look around a bit. Well, I found the book, purchased it, and took it home. When I went back online, that night, I noticed that it was 38% cheaper online than in the store. I guess this is a marketing decision that was made. Nevertheless, I do feel a little cheated. My advice would be to watch out!!
This location is wonderful! It is clean, organized, they have several computers to help find the books you want and their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is a small location there have been a few times where they do not carry a book or they say one is left but it cannot be found. Otherwise I would recommend them...and the Starbucks attached is a nice bonus!!
I have purchased items from Indigo in the past but no longer. It has come to my attention that the company, for good reason, is on the BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) list. Majority shareholders in the company have supported apartheid Israel in an egregious fashion and so I will no longer support this company. I hope you will do your own investigation and act with your conscience as I have.
Had to wait in a line to get in because of the new covid policies (which I was totally fine with) and the staff were very friendly and personable with me while I was waiting and made the experience awesome! They also had themselves very organized with the new policies. I've always liked going to this specific store and today's experience was just as enjoyable considering our new "normal"
This store always makes me feel so cozy whenever I go to shop there. I was out to purchase a book for a friend of mine for her birthday, and I was completely clueless. I asked for some recommendations based off of what I knew about my friend’s reading taste. Melanie was extremely helpful and she knew just the book my friend would enjoy, and luckily, she was spot on.
Super helpful associate in the kids area. Was looking for a particular book, there was showing one left in the store. Wasn't on the shelf where it was supposed to be, yet she found it somewhere else, quickly. Plus she put a hold on a single copy of another book for me on the other side of the city. She was great with my 10 year old. Store was clean, good layout.
Overall, a very satisfying shopping experience! Staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a positive vibe both at this location and Chapters/Indigo near Polo Park. Huge selection, with properly spaced displays allowing easy circulation through the space. A refreshing change from a certain independent that is marred by toxic management.
Went in looking for my Daughters birthday present, we looked it up on a terminal we were looking for about 10 minutes (in the wrong section completely). We asked the first person available, she looked it up with us and showed the exact shelf to find it on and we found it in 5 minutes. Fantastic. Li'l miss had her book and was all smiles.
Kind of small and stuff everywhere. It's close to me though so I keep going. There's alot of selection, but not alot of selection in each. The staff are good when you can find one that's not behind a till. I do absolutely love the selection of journals at this location and a nice selection of novelty items.
I had a gift card issue and although unfortunately the gift card didn’t work, Curt was the real MVP for being so patient and understanding. Home boy really tried everything possible to help us, and I think that is true customer service. Also it was the nicest Indigo store in Winnipeg. Thank you Curt!!
When choose a specific genre for purchase, the site rotates the same titles over and over. I was very clear as to the area and age I was interested in and when it said load more, I clicked on it, to only receive the same books. It would also be time saving to group by topic and age group.
Staff used to go above and beyond. Awesome selection of books, paper, magazine, gifts and games. No more Starbucks. It is gone. The hours have been reduced so better get there quick, it closes at 7! The kiosks are also not functioning any longer so you have to ask if books are in Stock.
Went today at 4:50 to grab a book after work. When I went through the doors a female staff member yelled at me and told me to leave. “You are too close to closing”. No customer service here. All she had to do was to ask me to return tomorrow. Nope. Not doing that. What a complete Cow.
Very merchandising and market driven lay-out to focused. Hard to just walk in and go to the non-fiction, or mystery, or home renovations books. But no shortage of amazing books and deals and gorgeous stuff to but. If you are a bookstore nut you can quickly lose a few hours here
Staff were very unhelpful, and would not assist me to order a book online. He told me to order it myself and then come back to the store to pick it up. What do I need the store for then, might as well go through Amazon if there's not going to be any degree of customer service.
Great place to go for any kind of books! My husband and I never leave the store without a couple of books each! If you can't find what you're looking for there is always someone there to help you , whether it's on their shelves or at another store. Great customer service!
I love coming here. The store is beautiful and the kids area is very well designed. There is so much to chose from, the staff are always friendly and attentive. You can go just to browse, read a bit, or shop! Probably best one in the city! Checkouts quick and easy.
There's nothing i love more than walking around a bookstore for hours on a weekend! This location has lots of selection and a Starbucks built in, but it's been closed due to COVID. Wander around here, find some new stories and goodies. Make it part of your weekend!
Nice book/toys/gifts. If you are looking for something for someone but your not what your are looking for, is store is probably one of the best places to visit. My only complaint will be the prices... they are not cheap. But it is still 5 stars for me.
One of my favourite bookstores to go to. The atmosphere here is so calm which makes book shopping all the more leisurely. The staff are super friendly and are a great help when needing to find anything within their varying selection of genres.
The store is impecably clean and tidy. Not to mention that the store is really nicely designed, I have been in alot of Indigos. This one feels homey even though it is a large location. I cannot wait to stop by for a visit again when I am
They have a great selection of some pretty obscure books in addition to all the standards, best sellers, and discount books. They have all the giftware that so many bookstores have, but, mainly, they're just a good bookstore.
One of my favourite places to browse. Staff are quick to help when needed but let you browse on your own. I picked up the newly released 300th anniversary edition of Robinson Crusoe, one of my favourite stories growing up.
This is a nicer Indigo than the one at St.Vital, but they still won't match the prices they have on their website. Quite often we will find things in store and then order for cheaper with free shipping from the website.
Bookstore is clean, staff are friendly and always ready to help. Sometimes it's not clear from the self serve kiosks where books are located in the store, which can be frustrating if there aren't staff around to assist.
Beautiful store. Large 1 floor design and space. And the completely separate Starbucks (along with separate entrance from the outside) is nice! Especially when it's 9am I work in the strip mall, and I need a coffee.
Had my order sooner than expected. Answered the phone promptly and only had to wait a couple minutes in my car. While I'd much rather shop in store their curbside pickup is truly a well oiled machine at this point.
Really great selection of books, plus a large array of cool gifts. Very helpful staff and totally competitive pricing, combined with instant gratification from purchase-in-person makes this the ultimate bookstore.
Beware, You can't just buy one thing. It's so great and everyone is so helpful I the store. I went in to check out a book and came out with a picnic blanket, coasters and yoga mat. Best part? Love my purchase.
Went for their promo day. Buy $50 worth of books and get 25 % off. Selection is decent although the place is rather small and can get crowded. Would like more sitting areas to browse through some material.
Quick and easy returns. Lady that helped me also helped exchange a defective item and showed me where the types of books I was looking for. Very friendly and helpful and truly wanted to help me.
Great store. Been here few times looking for books or items I wanted and had good luck. Staff are friendly. Store is fairly organized and prices are pretty much the same as any other place.
Staff are very helpful and approachable; the layout of the shelves and displays are quite good. It's a pity that the toy section is limited and the "in-store coffee shop" has closed down.
Really nice book store with helpful staff. Only problems I can think of are online deals not being price matched in store and book stock shown on the website not being accurate.
First time visiting this location. Lovely bookstore, with a great layout. Every section feels like a little nook of it's own so you can browse through without feeling crowded.
Great CS! I ordered online and realized one book was the wrong one of the same collection. They had it in stock and changed it respecting the online price …
Lots of book options. It's nice that they have computers available to customers to look up the book that they want. I also really love the interior design it's super cool.
Quiet, clean, comfortable. Attached Starbucks. Prices are a little higher than (but generally comparable to) Amazon, but that's to be expected with a brick and mortar.
Had best price for game "Ticket To Ride". Was $10.00 cheaper than another store across the road. Also has a great deal space used just for children's books and games.
Very well located and reallly nice place to shop any kind of book or anything related to reading, the staff is very helpful and friendly, very, very clean location.
Great selection of books with lots of good deals including 50-70% off of select journals. Friendly staff and while busy, not crazy crowded either. Good experience
Great atmosphere and helpful staff when we could go inside! Friendly and prompt service right now under code red restrictions. Can’t wait to be back in the store!
Great selection, great atmosphere and has an attached starbucks. The selection is much greater at its empress location which is why I give it 4/5 instead of 5/5.
I love exploring this place. They have a Starbucks attached which is a definite plus! There are bigger bookstores in Winnipeg bit this one is nicely organized.
The selection of books was not quite as good as I had hoped, but a very nice store otherwise. There's a Starbucks there, which does make it a nice study area.
Pleasent store with a smaller selection of books. Not necessarily a bad thing but it'd be nice to see less nicknacks like blankets and candles and more books
It's a nice store, good selection of books.. Has a basic white girl feel to it though. Starbucks, Uggs, pale skin and black clothes seems to be the uniform.
Stopped in here to kill a bit of time before an appointment. Great selection of books but I wasn't able to find my favourite author by looking alphabetical.
A GREAT book store. Got what I wanted Staff very friendly as they assisted me in my purchase..spent the time with me until I got what I wanted...thanks ..
Always nice to browse in a very cool clean bookstore and that's what Indigo has been and is still. Found some cool books for the kids and one for myself.
Lots to look at. Not just a place where you can run in and out. Love the Kids section and unique stocking stuffer gifts for the little ones in your life.
Was in the area, so I decided to walk in. SURPRISE! There was a sale on too! Friendly greetings at the door, sale, what better way to spend a day?
Very clean and organized. One complaint is they got rid of the computers to be able to search for books and it's hard to find staff to help you.
Beautiful inside the building. I've always loved Indigo, and am really happy they are still up and running. Friendly staff and great selection.
A very helpful place. There were a few clerks helping me find what I wanted. They are there to satisfy your needs. Well displaying of books.
Always clean and easily accessible with kind and friendly staff. This location is dog friendly for animals on leash who are well behaved! ❤️
I absolutely love this store! It's so big and has so many great books as well as awesome and unique gifts! It also has a great kid section!
Great store. Love that they have rail road with trains in kid's section, so parents have opportunity to shop while kids are busy with toys
Always have what I’m looking for and if not, the friendly staff help order it in store or to my home. Great place to hide out and read.
Medium sized store linked to a coffee shop. Was pleasantly surprised to see large displays of Manga's. Looks well stocked and managed.
Love indigo books lots of good baby books but found it A little odd that you had a book section for 0 to 2 years and then 3 to 5 years
Love love love!!! Always helpful and friendly staff. Plus have best selection for books, other than online. Always a happy customer!!
They have a really nice children's section, and there's some surprising items as you look through the store. Definitely worth visit.
Indigo is great. The selection of books is massive. If they don't have your book you are looking for they will order it in for you.
Convenient location. Great store with a lot of really nice gifts for all ages. My kids can spend hours in their children's section.
Staff very helpful explaining how orders work when placed on line. Still haven't got the books, but pleasant personal interaction.
It's a good store for a variety of unusual, quality home products.....and lots of books. It's higher end so be prepared for that.
Great selection of books and magazines and a good board game section as well. Starbucks is built in as well if you need a coffee.
Lovely selection of books. Can spend hours just browsing. Has a Starbucks beside for when you get thirsty from all that reading
The staff is efficient and nice. They are following Covid rules and regulations making me feel safe about shopping for books.
Best Indigo in the city. Kate fantastic.. Service excellent.. Let's get that coffee shop so your customers can enjoy both..
I always buy my books here. Much better experience than buying them online and I usually find everything I am looking for.
There's not much better than browsing a bookstore for a new favorite. Great selection of adult and kids books and games.
I found the cashier to be very rude. No eye contact and not one word spoken! She didn't even tell me the price! Rude!
A great location for bookworms. Large selection and helpful, friendly staff. There’s a Starbucks onsite, too - bonus!
Clean store.. staff friendly. Not as crowded as the one that's attached to the mall. Shopping experience was great
Quiet with a large selection of japanese manga, toys and other gifts. I hope a shop can replace starbucks soon.
Nice store, but the toy selection for kids was limited. Plus because of covid the gift wrap station was closed.
Love this place. Great selection of gifts, cards, stationary and of course books. Large, open shopping area.
Nice store. Lots of giftware. Books in stock are mostly best seller stuff. No real sales mostly list price
Any book you would want and a good variety of children's toys. I love shoppjngbhere for birthday presents.
Love to shop here for gifts - for a friend or myself! :) Lots of variety, great sales, and helpful staff.
Great book store, huge selection, friendly no pressure staff, good prices, with a confortable atmosphere.
We love Indigo! Great selection of books and other neat and unique things. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great selection of books, history magazine selection less than before. Great friendly & helpful staff.
Such a great selection and the staff is super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this location.
Lots of books!! Puzzles and games also available here. The associates are always happy to help.
Least favourite Indigo in the city. Layout is very crowded yet the selection is not very good.
A bit smaller than some other Indigo locations in town, but still a decent selection of books
