I purchased a 4runner from 5 hours away flying into Jacksonville. After a week of pictures and videos of the vehicle we agreed on a price and I flew out. Upon arrival they were very busy and kind of chaotic moving things around. My vehicle drove up after 10 minutes with dried wax and sealent all over. I understand express cleaning before the buyer shows but the vehicle looked the complete opposite of the photos. We did wipe down the vehicle but please be aware the photos are professionally taken from distance and that is the best your vehicle will look. There will be defects not disclosed even though asked prior. It would be who of you to have the vehicle 3rd party inspected as well. There so called rigorous inspections are not so thourough as my mechanic found worn lowers control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, and sway bar end links! All to the tune of $550 from rock auto and installing myself to save money. After some back and fourth Mario senior did comp me half of the parts. But still when paying top of the market over KBB for a vehicle you expect full disclosure when traveling from out of town. I also insisted on the spark plugs being changed thankfully because they would not have changed them without insisting that they were probably the factory plugs after researching the maintenance records at 126k miles. That I was appreciative for. But also standard practice for used cars over 100k miles. You will also have to stop once leaving their facility to fill the tank up as the car only came With less than 1/4 of a tank and after driving to and from the mechanic the gas light kicked on as I got 5 miles down the road! It’s the small things that make Or break experiences! Once I left on the drive home I drove through a couple storms and the sunroof leaked. I did not see any damage when testing the sunroof during the test drive but once I pulled over and did a thourough inspection the entire metal frame that is integrated into the glass was rusted through not creating a watertight seal. I admit I did not see this during our rushed sale. The rust had been painted over with black paint making it hard to see unless you are in the shade but believe me. When you touch it it crumbled all over the center console. I had to take the roof rack off and park in the garage due to the tropical storm this entire weekend. Now I am out $ 770 because there is no junk yard cars and the only place that sells the sunroof glass is the dealership. Labor is $450 so I will save that and do it myself. I called Mario Senior but was told it’s a used car and if he knew he would of fixed it! But was unwilling to help me fix the issue as it is my problem now. I could drive the car back and get my money back but would still be out the gas money there and back as well as the airfare paid. I just wish this would have been disclosed or brought to my attention before hand. I am not saying they painted over the rust on the sunroof but that if the vehicle was inspected and detailed so closely as they say the issue should have been caught and identified. There claim to fame is rigorous inspected rust free vehicles but the two issues that were found here showed otherwise. Small things get missed at times but the suspension/steering components and the sunroof are two expensive learning lessons. I am active duty military and am very strict with my vehicles and perform my own maintenance but this could have been resolved easy before driving off if this was disclosed or by agreeing to disagree that neither one of us saw the sunroof and at least splitting the cost for the glass replacement or anything towards the total cost! That’s honest business when selling vehicles at the top of the market and listing them with no defects, rust or issues! The process was easy in the end but know before you get there that the vehicles will have small defects and it’s on you to inspect every creak and cranny of the car to find issues not found by there rigorous inspection process and have them fixed wether your out of town or not.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! If you're reading my review, you're probably like me. You're looking at a car here and you're wondering about the quality of the dealer and the final product. When I started looking at this place, I did the exact same thing. You're probably a little skeptical. So was I. The car I purchased was a 2015 VW Golf Sportwagen SEL. It's probably the most boring car this guy sells if you're comparing it to the RUF Porsche's and old-school Challengers that this guy (Mario) has probably sold in the past. I looked at the photos of the car in question when I found it on his website. I messaged Mario about the car. He said he would like to speak over the phone so he can explain the details of the car. This dude talked to me for over an hour to explain to me the value of the car he was selling and the background of the vehicle (see VW TDI Scandal for details). Skeptical of a car salesman, I started researching his claims. He was spot-on with everything he was saying. It was at that moment, I realized I wasn't dealing with a car salesman. I learned I was dealing with a highly educated broker, dedicated to his craft. He had everything lined up that you might want. Free CarFax, tons of high-quality, high-resolution photos of the car, an option to deliver the car to your door and, most importantly, about 50 other people before me who had nothing but glowing reviews about dealing with King's Chariot. Mario was extremely accommodating. Despite the reviews and the photos, I was preparing myself to buy sight unseen, but not without some reassurance from an independent, third-party inspection. Due to life circumstances and schedules, driving 400 miles each way was not feasible. Mario allowed for me to have the car shipped from his shop to a reputable local VW independent repair shop for an inspection. It was $54 to have the car delivered to the inspection shop and recovered to the dealer. The shop, WagenWerks (Jacksonville, FL) charged $90 to inspect the car. Mario required a $1000 non-refundable deposit to guarantee the car to me. Not wanting to take a $1,000 gamble, I asked, and Mario was willing to meet me with a contingency: $250 non-refundable up-front, the remaining $750 after the inspection. The car was perfect, right? NO. NOT A PERFECT CAR. The dealer reported that the windshield washer was not working correctly and that one of the key fobs would not work correctly. As a businessman, I knew Mario wanted to get this car to me and get the money out of it that he deserved. Despite that, he took pride in his product, fixed the two issues, and had the vehicle delivered to me (to my front door) after I had paid in full. The purchase process was a breeze. I never stepped foot into a dealer. No haggling. Up-front, simple process with a very well-priced car. The entire purchasing process (without having to secure my own funding) took less than an hour. Stress-free. It was the easiest car purchase of my entire life (five or so of my own and tons of other car purchases witnessed). The car arrived last night. I was completely shocked by the car. He told me that he hand-picks his cars and only sells the best. I refused to believe that until I saw it. This 2015 with nearly 30K on it was as mint of condition as I could imagine for a pre-owned car. He was not kidding. If anything, maybe he understated. The car's condition is stunning. Post a picture? I couldn't. A picture wouldn't do it justice. I can only hope that I have the opportunity to do business with Mario again.

Some background on myself, I buy used cars on a regular basis. Approximately every two years I trade out one of my cars for something different, it’s a hobby for me. I will also take responsibility for not having the car I purchased thoroughly checked out before making the transaction. With those disclaimers out of the way I purchased a 2005 LX470 around October 22. I’ve waited this long to write the review because I continue to find issues that weren’t disclosed during my conversations with Mario. I had a few conversations with Mario about the car and he assured me it was in pristine condition. I saw the carfax report and it had a solid history. Mario told me he inspects all the cars he buys for resale and this car was in great condition. The issues I have found would have been easily noticed if his dealership had truly inspected the car before selling it. - sunroof won’t open more than 2 inches and it leaks water. - radio doesn’t work and power antenna works partially. - driver side CV joint needed replacing. - had to replace headlights they were so scratched up and held moisture - there is a wiring problem we are still trying to identify as headlights won’t turn off if they are in auto mode. - battery was work out needed replacing - ashtray receptacle is missing, I don’t smoke but I need to replace it none the less - carpet in cargo area is stained and discolored - engine sensors had to be replaced the minute I started the car - interior dome lights don’t work - driver seat adjustment isn’t working properly - driver side seat heater doesn’t work - spotty areas of rust on under carriage. I specially asked about rust and Mario sent me a couple smartly chosen photos of the under carriage that showed no rust. The first red flag should have been the title. It took over 30 days to receive the paperwork from Mario. When I took it to my local DMV, they said it was some of the worst title work they had seen in along time. It literally looks fake which makes me wonder what the true history of the car is. I blame myself for not having the car checked out. I have done this enough times to know better. I wanted to trust that Mario was being transparent/honest about the condition of the car. I’m not saying all his cars are this way, I’m saying this is my experience and I have the receipts for the things I’ve had to repair so far to prove it.

I'm neutral on my experience, I am not here to bash or speak bad about the dealership, simply share my 1st experience of buying a vehicle sight unseen. I purchased a 1998 Toyota 4Runner from Kings Chariot (delivered Oct 6th, which they did a great job lining up the transport). If purchasing a vehicle sight unseen, I highly highly recommend getting the vehicle inspected simply because you don't know what you don't know and your opinion and expectations aren't always the same as others. When asked about the physical / cosmetic condition it was not necessarily misrepresented by the dealership, but probably not to full disclosure on a few things either. This is not a primary driver and I fully expected a 20-year old vehicle to have minor scratches and blemishes however there were a few things that should have been disclosed in my opinion when asked about the overall condition. Example, windshield has 4 chips in it (I will eventually replace), radio power antenna motor loudly grinds for an additional 15 seconds after it comes up (I've had to disconnect the relay from under the dash). We've put 20 miles on it and the 4runner is now headed to the shop to have new front CV Axle shafts installed (this problem could have been discovered through an inspection or simply by driving it, it's visually throwing grease everywhere) and possibly front brakes. The dealership DID ask if i wanted to have it inspected for piece of mind, I declined trusting their feedback on its condition. Again, as a consumer that purchased "AS IS" and sight unseen i can only learn from my decision. In hindsight I wish i would have, however I didn't so I assume the "AS IS" repair costs. I do not plan to pursue reimbursement for these issues and repairs from the dealership, nor have they had the opportunity to accept or decline reimbursement / financial assistance for any repair cost(s) so I can't tell you or share an opinion on how they are regarding these situations. In summary, if you buy a car, have it inspected so your expectations are met and there are no surprises. The purchase transaction with the dealership was simple and straightforward.

Over the past 3 months we’ve searched all over FL for a solid used 4WD 4Runner. King’s Chariot had what we needed. The online description and extensive photos were a tremendous help. We drove over three hours each way to inspect the vehicle we eventually purchased from them. It was exactly as described online. Mario and the rest of the guys were super responsive and knowledgeable. Most that we found through other dealerships either had lots of rust on the undercarriage (due to improper care - wash that junk off man) from up north or otherwise didn’t meet our needs. Whenever we called prior to making our way to yet another dealership, our first questions were “where did it come from?” and “does it have any rust” as this was our biggest concern outside of general roadworthiness. The answers were generally along the lines of “there’s bit of surface rust, but for it’s age, you have to expect that.” Well, no you don’t. King’s Chariot was the first 4Runner we found with pictures of the undercarriage showing the excellent condition. Our 20 year old 4Runner with a brand new ARB build, 2.5” lift, Fuel wheels and ass kicking off road tires is turning heads and getting compliments everywhere we go. More importantly, she drives great and will go anywhere. They clearly take great care in selecting vehicles that have been well maintained and in our case turned a solid SUV into an off road ready beast! We’re starting a several month trip around the country that will have us exploring a wide variety of on and off road conditions. We feel extremely confident that King’s Chariot has provided us with the ride we need on this adventure.

I had my eye on a 2005 Tacoma that was on the Kings Chariot website for a while. I finally decided to pull the trigger and initiate contact with Mario regarding the truck. He got back to me in less than an hour and we were talking over the phone- on a Sunday- minutes after. He couldn't have been nicer. He was patient and had answers to my million and half questions about the truck, the financing and transportation out of state. I live in NY and buying a 14 year old truck w/ over 100K miles sight unseen from Florida could be a dicey proposition. Mario told me all about the aftermarket add-ons and after googling them myself I was convinced that the truck, the offer and Mario as a car salesman were legit. The cost for transport ended up being a but higher than he told me but the amount was UNDER the amount I budgeted for so it was ok. The truck arrived at the right time and it was love at first sight. As I said the truck is 14 years old so there are a few cosmetic blemishes but they are skin deep only. The body, frame, rims, tires, interior were all in great shape. The ARB front bumper makes me feel like I'm driving a tank. The awning is super cool- it takes a few attempts to get it open and having a friend helps but it's still awesome. If you are apprehensive about buying a car out of state, I suggest giving King's Chariot a chance. Mario does a lot of business out of state and his great reputation is well earned. He made the process really easy- even provided financing at a decent rate. I am beyond happy with my truck, Mario helped me realize one of my life goals-- to own a bada** 4x4! Thanks again!

I purchased a 2001 4Runner from Mario at Kings Chariot that looked beautiful and was fully equipped with all kinds of great ARB off road equipment. The process was seamless and Mario was quite responsive. After receiving the vehicle, I noticed a leak that evening that I thought was oil. The leak was significant, so I let Mario know. His immediate reaction was that it was his problem, not mine, and that I had nothing to worry about, he would take care of it. He then proceeded to arrange to have the vehicle picked up 200 miles away at 6:30 am the next morning and brought to his place in Jax for repairs. While there he found that it was an old transmission line that had just decided to wear down that day. He replaced all the transmission lines and inspected and adjusted the brakes for me, and then had it delivered back to me -- ALL ON HIS OWN DIME!!! I have been an attorney for 30 years and was fully aware that he had no legal obligation to do these repairs. But to Kings Chariot, their word and their reputation is more important than their money. Mario has my absolute trust as an individual, and I am looking forward to buying more vehicles from Kings Chariot in the future. When service like this is provided, it must be recognized and rewarded. Even if their vehicles are a bit more expensive, it is because they are inspected and serviced and the company stands behind them. Tough to put a dollar value on that.

I recently purchased a 2000 4Runner from Mario at Kings Chariot. I travelled from Maine to Florida to pick up the 4Runner that I had seen on the internet. The vehicle exceeded my expectations in every way. The exterior was spotless and the interior looked like a new vehicle. Mario was great to work with and made the entire process easy. Once the paperwork was completed and he showed me around the car, I jumped in and drove the 4Runner 1,300 miles in 22 hours to its new home in Maine. The truck performed flawlessly and was great to drive. Having driven several lifted vehicles over the years, I was truly impressed with how the 4Runner handled. It really was a joy to drive and felt solid on the road. I bought the car for my wife but spent most of the drive to Maine trying to figure out how to convince her that she really wouldn't like it and that I'd be willing to drive it if she didn't want it. Once I got it home and she saw it, I knew there was no way she would ever let me have it. She loves it and really likes the way it rides. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on Mario's inventory and make the trip back to Florida soon for my own 4Runner. Thanks to the crew at Kings Chariot for setting up such a great Toyota!!

***update May 2019*** I have to add to my original review. When I purchased my car, apparently the local DMV did something wrong with the license plate registration. I had no idea until the plate expired. I tried numerous ways with the state of Florida to figure out the issue. Out of desperation, I called Mario. His staff went over to the DMV almost immediately and had my situation straightened out within a few hours. I really appreciate how his staff consistently goes the extra mile! ***original review August 2018*** Mario and his staff are fantastic and went above and beyond expectations normally reserved for a dealership. I purchased my 2015 VW Sportwagen TDI last year and my experience was great. He made sure his staff was available to pick me up at the Jacksonville airport and about 90 minutes later, I was on my way back home with my new wheels. While I was at the dealership, I had a chance to look at all the other vehicles he had on sale. This dealer specializes in niche type vehicles and all that he had that day were in top notch condition. They all looked amazing! Thank you so much for taking great care of me and making this one of the easiest purchasing experiences I've ever had.

WORTHY OF 10 STARS! First time experience purchasing a car completely remote never seeing the vehicle in person or even getting to drive it, then having it shipped for delivery. In 1987 I purchased my first car. In all the many years and vehicles since, buying directly from King's Chariot was, hands-down, my best buying experience. As of this writing, it has been nearly a month since the King's Chariot team completed the expedition build of my 2005 GX470. As a resident of Jacksonville FL, it was easy for me to make a Saturday appointment to "kick the tires" in person. Candidly, at first, I was skeptical about buying from a smaller dealership. I asked many questions, not only about the vehicle and the warranty but about the Smittybilt winch, Procom wheels, and all the ARB gear; suspension, bumper, roof rack, awning, etc. It didn't take long for me to understand that Mario and the team not only understand their business but have a genuine passion for doing things right. Most dealerships could learn customer service lessons from this employee-owned business. Based upon my experience, I have encouraged my closest friends to consider buying from King's Chariot.

I am extremely pleased with my vehicle from Kings Chariot! Their craftsmanship and dedication is apparent in each and every one of their vehicles. I ordered a custom built Lexus GX470 (here it is pictured next to my friends Jeep) and it was ready for me in just over a month. The build process was very transparent. The whole team at Kings Chariot was eager to help and attentive to my vision for what I wanted out of my Lexus. They use quality products from ARB and Old Man Emu. The fitment on all the parts was spot on! I drove off the lot and immediately took my shiny new GX for a romp through the Ocala Nat'l Forest. It was immediately apparent how smooth a ride the Old Man Emu suspension provided. Everything was rock solid and rattle free. I could go on and on about how genuinely pleased and impressed I am with what they crafted for me. I really cant find anything negative to say about this company or the product that they create. They are truly devoted to their craft!

I just bought a 1999 toyota land cruiser (super clean) from Kings Chariot and I could honestly not be happier! The whoe process was incredibly smooth and hassle free. I also had them outfit the vehicle with several add ons and they were able to get everything done very quickly and the quality of the installs were top notch. I have bought over 20 cars in my lifetime and I can honestly say that this was the best experience I have ever had. Mario and the guys at Kings Chariot are great to deal with and are incredibly knowledgable about everything they sell. When you show up to their location and start looking at all of their vehicles and begin to notice that everything they sell is super clean then you know you're at a good spot and that was exactly my experince with Kings Chariot. I look forward to doing business with them in the future and would be more than happy to make the drive again from NC to FL just to do business with them.

This was HANDS DOWN the BEST car buying experience I have ever had. After first speaking with Mario, I hung up and thought, "that guy doesn't care if I buy a car from him or not." That is not to say he was not friendly, informative and professional, he was. It's just that after "dealing" with other dealers quite a bit recently, it struck how his sales approach was to rely on the confidence he had in his product and business, rather than try to feed me a bunch of BS and harass me on the way to a buck. I now know this confidence is well founded. When my 99 LX470 arrived, I don't think I was able to say anything but "oh my god", and "holy sh!t" for at least ten minutes. This vehicle is clean as clean can get and absolutely hums. This entire process far exceeded my expectations, and I will highly recommend Kings Chariot to anybody who will listen. It was a week, not a month, and it was an email...which you said you never received. Thanks for confirming that lie. I was more so concerned with the transmission than the payment. I wonder how many people have heard the old line: you might notice a firm shift from first to second. I installed a shift kit to use it for towing. Your general smugness and snide responses to the negative reviews you didn't pay for definitely shows your character. Finally, I'm glad you don't control my financial decisions, I enjoy being able to sleep at night.

Mario at Kings Chariot was amazing to work with on buying my dream car. After searching for months thinking I’d find a “deal” on a classic Land Cruiser and dealing with questionable cars and sellers, I finally was referred to Kings Chariot by a friend who had just bought a Cruiser from there. I was lucky to snag a beauty of a gx470 from Mario and team. These are the dudes you want to hang out with off road. It was my 10th + Yota purchase. Mario and his team are a well oiled machine like the quality Yota/Lex rigs in their inventory. They specialize in "IT" vehicles. The showroom has a very boutique feel and the easiest car purchase experience I have ever had. I was able to remote work remotely w their WiFi, they dropped me off at the airport car rental and followed me back to showroom and then finally filled my gas tank (long after the transaction was complete). Every interaction was above and beyond from their team. Even simple phone calls to check on inventory in advance of travels made me feel very welcome and part of the King's Chariot experience. I am looking forward to letting Mario and team take my GX to new heights. Literally!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS . Received the car with the battery not secure and upside down and it’s given me trouble ever since. I’ve had it for approximately 4 months and have replaced NINE parts (O2 sensors, timing belt, catalytic converter, transmission, etc.) and now the engine is blown and needs replaced. I’ve driven it < 5k miles since I received it. Literally the lowest class dealership I’ve ever dealt with. Trust me, DO NOT buy from them. My car looks minty, but they cleaned it up under the hood just enough to start so the owner Mario could tell me “it is possible to have issues at some point with the car it’s used and you did not buy a new car and you did not buy a warranty that’s the risk of used cars”. Funny thing is there was no warranty ever offered or talked about.

I'll be very careful purchasing from this dealership site unseen. Make sure that you check the vehicle out in person and drive it or have a third party inspection done. After speaking with Mario and hearing everything that a buyer likes to hear, I went ahead and purchased a 2005 escalade. I paid Retail $ for the Truck thinking its was as nice as Mario described it to be. I had the vehicle shipped and upon arrival, was not as described in the ad. The steering column felt like it was falling apart, Rear window was in-op, headrest entertainment was in-op, Star in the windshield. empty gas tank and Carfax was not clean even though it said it in the ad that it was. I ended up shipping the vehicle back to Mario and took $400 of losses. Not a great experience, just a heads up!

Went down to see the over landing vehicles for sale a couple weekends ago with my Son. We were interested to see what all Mario had in person. I didnt realize that you need to plan ahead and make an appointment which I do recommend. But despite not doing this Mario (senior) took time out of his busy Saturday to meet and let us browse and ask questions even taking pictures. Mario is extremely friendly, and accommodating. Buying a used car from Kings was the most simple and straight-forward process of any of the cars, new or used, that I have ever purchased. Their commitment to buying only a certain standard of car (no broken or missing parts, none above the salt line, none with hinky titles) coupled with their goal of not having to answer ANY questions about the condition or performance of the vehicle absolutely blew me away. My hardest decision was deciding whether to take the Volkswagen or the Audi. There are so many other things to share - family-owned, community-oriented, technology-savvy - but instead I'd recommend that you go and see for your self. I was searching for land cruisers and came across Kings Chariot. Ended up buying a 200 series Land Cruiser and then a 100 series a couple of weeks later. They added several modifications to the 100, completed some needed service and did it all extremely quickly. The cars look and drive fantastic. The fact that they can do almost all of the service and modifications on site makes the process very easy. You can tell Mario and his team have a passion for what they do. Recently I wanted to upgrade the suspension on my GX 470.
