We have a nearly 6-month-old Lab, and as part of our dog training class, we needed to take her with us to a restaurant of some kind (preferably with an outdoor patio) and at least stay long enough for a drink. My wife had been to the waffle place next door, and remembered the very nice outdoor patio area shared by about three restaurants, all next to each other in the "strip mall" building. We came in from the parking lot behind the building, and were seated very quickly. Chips and salsa showed up fast, as well. And then our waiter, Jose, appeared with a bowl and a large cup of cold water...for the dog, without even being asked. We split an order of the steak fajitas, and we were very impressed. It was enough food that the two of us couldn't finish the plate, so we had leftovers to take home. Very, very good. Well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, even the green peppers (which I don't normally like.) The only complaint would be not enough tortillas, and an upcharge for extra. Three is just not enough! Other than that, excellent. I once lived in Costa Rica, near a local restaurant. There was an old lady who would sit out back and make tortillas. And they were amazing. The tortillas at La Nopalera were *almost* as good as I remember. When we got the check, I noticed that there was a line on it that said "Con el Perro. Woof Woof!" I thought it was very nice of them to acknowledge the dog. Also, the price was very good. We'll be back.

Initially I had a good review but went back to this place yesterday and it was the worst service I ever recieved from any restaurant from Vanessa. The waitress was very rude, she would ask questions like "are you ready to order or not". She was not nice at all. She also ordered 2 dishes which were both $20 each and we told her that we were sharing 1 molcajete. She intentionally put in 2 orders for us. Instead of taking the dish back she kept it at our table and we just told her it's fine. She never came to refill our drinks and we had to ask her to fill them. She would bring dishes to our table then go to another table with them like she was confused or perhaps just being rude again. It was like we were an inconvenience to her for being there. Sadly she was acting like this in front of what appeared to be the manager. Not sure how they allow a waitress to treat customers so badly. The food surprisingly didn't even look appetizing. Then we saw our receipt and she included her own gratuity, so now it makes sense why the service was so bad. Why should you give good service if you're going to give yourself a tip regardless how awful you are. I always conduct my business lunches and meetings here over lunch, but never again.

I will state that we have been eating at this chain since the 90s and with that said we are La Nop vets lol. This location is the most impressive hands down in atmosphere, decore and set up. You can watch them make tortillas by hand through a window and see how clean the kitchen is. The disappointment was the service and kinda the food. It was fresh just underseasoned on stuff like meat across the board. The fajitas nachos was actually DRY... with a laughable amount of cheese. This is a family favorite for decades and the other locations serve a product it is juicy and has plently of cheese sauce goodnees to eat with chips and the meat for every bite! Service was subpar and our server was not paying attention to us and one of our dishes was missing stuff bc we had 2 of the same dish at the table with one modifyed due to an allergy and they made both the exact same! So my dish had no veggies or sauce bc my friend can not eat them due to allergy but it made my food blah. We could not get the server to fix it let alone refill our drinks. We would go again if the rest of our party insisted and try again otherwise we will stick to our 2 fave locations because atmosphere is not everything it is about service and quality.

If i could give no stars i would. This was my first time coming to this location. I was very disappointed with this restaurant. I came here with a party of 6. We ordered our food and after a while the server came out with our food. His english was not well and he ended up giving someone else my order. After we realized that my order was given to the wrong person and they had already put there fork in my plate and was getting ready to eat my food, we realized that it was my food. The waiter then proceeded to get my plate from the other party and give to me. I advised that I did not want the plate that someone else in my party. Not saying anything was wrong with the person, but it is the principle. Then we asked for the manager and he was rude and and they tried to give me the same plate. Instead of making me another order. This was my first and my last time coming to this location. Signed a very disappointed customer

Parking gets iffy in the front when it's busy. They have a huge parking lot in the back as well tho, that usually accommodates everyone showing up.

Went for Friday dinner, was fairly crowded, parking was not very good, small pot with lots of other businesses sharing. Seated right away and chips and salsa were quick. Got the Fajitas Texas, chicken, steak, shrimp combo. It was a MASSIVE portion, could of fed 3 adults easy. The steak and chicken were over cooked, very dry. The shrimp was good. Standard margarita, way sweeter than I like, no alcohol bite at all. Server got sat with a 10 top, so her focus quickly shifted to that, not her fault, just took away from being able to finish our service and get refills. In all it was a decent dinner, probably won’t go back because there are a lot of similar options in the area.

The food here is great. The specialty drinks are as well. I quit coming here because of a particular bar tender. She is the worst bartender I have ever seen consistently impact waitstaff’s ability to serve their tables. If the bartender when you come in is female, usually sporting a black eye, broken finger, etc., order water and don’t ask for anything from the bar. That is unless you always want your drink to arrive, after your food does. The only thing that may save your dining experience is if your waiter just goes and fixes your drink themselves. Management seems indifferent to how bad she is. The wait staff all know how bad she is.

If you're looking for great Mexican food in Jacksonville, look no further. La Noplaera has excellent food and it's an awesome atmosphere. I'm not sure why I didn't try this place out sooner. Their frozen margaritas were strong and delicious. Their tamales were super fresh and packed plenty of flavor. Their beef enchiladas were the best beef enchiladas I've ever had. Also the price of their menu items was perfect. Highly recommend!

I've been pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! The food is good. The atmosphere on the waterfront patio is nice (if you are not scared of geese, lol). Service was fast, prices reasonable. Just one thing: the cleanliness... I have seen the clothes they were using the wipe the outdoor tables... sooo dirty! One had been used to clean bird poop from a chair, I really hope they didn't use that same one to clean a table right after. I generally don't write bad reviews, but I think it's important to say things like this so that they can improve on it. Overall, I recommend the restaurant, and I still feel like giving 5 stars.

Visited this restaurant today. My wife wanted to go for her birthday...Entered the restaurant and was greeted by the manager on duty. Asked if patio was open. Stated it was closed, then we asked to move to a different table and this is when the employee attitude kicked in. The table we asked for was not clean and asked if they could clean it. The employee tossed the menu on the table and began to ignore us. Asked to speak with manager, and was told he was the manager. This restaurant was recommended by friends who frequent the establishment regularly. Not anymore, once I told them the way we were treated. I will be sure and share my experience on our community next-door and Facebook sites. Which the community is, by the way, about 3- 4 miles away.

The food and atmosphere both were simply amazing. If you like solid Mexican food great outdoor patio and nice people 100% recommend. The service was passable though rather space in availability. With that said I would still recommend them to anyone looking for a outing with friends or good food.

The outside patio has some large games anyone can play. Namely jenga and connect four. Little ones where always over there having a good time.

The food was tasty and the portion was absolutely amazing! It really did fill us up. But even if it was busy on Friday night, we waited more than an hour after ordering to even get water. Food came even later which was a major downside because we had to fill up quite a bit from just chips and salsa. I wouldn’t recommend going there on weekend nights. Early evening is probably the way to go instead of around 8:30 or so. The music is quite loud and the noise levels in general gave me a mild headache. It was too hot and humid to sit outside along with a ton of mosquitos so had no choice but to sit inside. Overall good food and price made me give a 4

Traveled from Orlando this weekend and just happened upon this restaurant- absolutely WOW. The service was impeccable! But more importantly- the food was divine. FULL of flavor!!! The salsa was a perfect blend of salty, spicy, and veggies. The warm tortilla chips amazing. I ordered the Fajitas Texana (chicken, steak, and shrimp) and hubby ordered a grilled chicken chimichanga with queso. Every bite of food had the most incredible flavors. This is my moms favorite place to go eat. She is elderly and in heart failure. She loves sitting on the back patio because of the water view and she loves looking at the ducks. But every time we come for lunch after her doctors appts they always give us a hard time to sit out on the back patio. The smell for the cigar place next door also is difficult to take for her senses are very sensitive. Vanessa our waitress was so rude to us because we wanted to sit outside so our service inside was very u comfortable. Came with a big group on MLK Day after spending the morning downtown in the parade. We waited outside on patio area until someone came to clean the tables and set up more chairs. I understand that they might have been short staffed but the wait time just for our server to take drink and food orders was crazy long. The inside had a few customers so I’m not getting what the hold up was. This was my first time here and I ordered the steak nachos and the they were bland no seasoning. Bring 2 pairs of reading glasses...1 pair for your eyes and 1 pair for your reading glasses. Why? The menu font is like the small print at the bottom of a pharmaceutical commercial. We had to repeat 3x to our waiter NO SOUR CREAM on my mom's burrito. It came with sour cream. 10 minutes later the other 2 orders came. Dad order fajitas. After waiting another 5 minutes for them to bring the tortillas (you know cause he ordered FAJITAS), he just started eating with the rest of us. 10 minutes later, yup you guessed it... tortillas. Food was good. It didn't appear to me that there was a manager this evening and our service reflected that.

This location said that they no longer honor the Tuesday taco special of three tacos for four dollars. The location in Bartram Park and Orange Park still honor this special but they are in multiple white neighborhoods. The La Napolera by the airport this location is no longer honoring the three tacos for four dollars because it’s in a black neighborhood! A gentleman came to the phone and said he was the manager, but I do not believe it . I expressed my concern to the team member and I will make it a point to tell everyone that I know about this matter

The LaNop in River City has the best Mexican food we have found in Jacksonville and even in Florida. They make everything from scratch, including the tortillas. The other LaNops in Jax do not compare to this one. One visit & you will see why this restaurant is always busy.

They told me it would be a 30-40 minute wait for a table and it was almost exactly 30 minutes. I LOVE Mexican food and I’ve never had Mexican food like this before. Excellent. Very creative. I was starving and ordered 3 specialty tacos which come with rice and refried beans. Perfect. I got Campechano (chick/chorizo) Pescado (fried tilapia), and Nopitos (cactus). $4.25 each I don’t drink but the young lady who recommended the place said their Margaritas were fantastic. Also, the gentleman who waited on me spoke Spanish, wore a mask, and was pitch perfect.

Food was pretty good. They loaded down the Cali burrito with steak, awesome. Queso was to die for. Service was decent, they accommodated our large party. They have a back patio looking out over a pond. Pretty cool sitting area and inside design.

Stopped in for a lunch during the week. Parking was tight in front, but there is more on the backside of the plaza. This location is bigger than some of their others and has a great bar and patio out back. Food was excellent, lunch prices were affordable and portions large. Free chips and salsa at every table too. I'd recommend the street tacos, they tasted fresh, and came with a spicy sauce on the side. Service was excellent and I appreciate all of the fresh ingredients and particularly the tortillas. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

The food is good, but the dining room is EXTREMELY loud. To go is not the best either. It took over an hour (75 min) to get my to-go order. I ordered 2 meals. I ordered to-go because we didn’t want to spend over an hour in a restaurant, yet here we are. On my way out, people who came in half an hour after I ordered were already eating and almost done. And the order wasn’t even right when I got home. The only thing they got right was the rice and beans. Which was also the only part hot.

We had an EXCELLENT time. We read the reviews, specifically the 1-star ones, and decided it was worth it to give it a shot. We are SO glad we did. The only complaint was on the carne asada nachos. Was a bit ober done, but the queso was INCREDIBLE! I loved the steak chimichangas. The combo 13 was great. Carne asada wasnt very seasoned but still yummy overall. Sanjo burrito was amazing. Micheladas & margaritas (on the rocks) were good. Can't wait to return next time I'm in town.

La Nop don't EVER miss. This restaurant is literally my go to spot for lunch and dinner. The staff is always friendly and all are familiar faces. Idk why I see reviews less than 5 stars. I've had their fajitas, basically all entrees and the classic Molcajete plenty of times so I this time I got 2 tacos for a quick lunch. Definitely getting the marinated pull pork taco again . The steak was good too but the pork already set the standard for me oh definitely try the frozen margaritas, honestly to me nothing beats it.

Entered from the rear lot, seating outside looked interesting with the airplane on the water, however, opted for indoor. Was sat at the front of the restaurant and waited for what seemed like an unusually long time to even place drink orders. The server wasn’t very attentive to anyone in this section. Ordered some of the exact items that others nearby had ordered and while it was good, there was a different presentation for all. Portions were great, food is good, drinks mediocre and service was poor.

Apparently my server is solo on the patio. She is overwhelmed, bless her, bur cranky as heck. Waited 45 minutes for my order. Ate 1/3 of it without a drink , did get water, sour cream never arrived, and I dared not ask for it. Still waiting for my check to be picked up by her. No eye contact works best for her, as she chooses not to see me waving my bill. I heard so many great things about this place. Just not my night of great service.

Our TOP picks are the Molcajete and Carnitas! The Carnitas were AMAZING! I’ve never had some this good! The edges of the molcajete stayed bubbling HOT for over 50 mins. Our waiter Enrique was super friendly and descriptive/helpful… We didn’t like the Bar Scene close to the table for 8… a true Mexican Restaurant doesn’t need a Bar Theme to make it better.

We come here at least once a month and love it! It can get busy at times but the staff tends to handle it pretty well. Longest we had to wait before was 30 minutes on a packed day. Ordered a takeout meal which consisted of a taco salad and a number 15 combo. Food was very poor and cold even after my wife waited 20 minutes for it. There was no cheese on anything and food tasted old. We returned the meal ,got a new one with no problem. But it was no better then the first. Just moved here from San Diego and was worried we wouldn’t find good Mexican food. This place was exceptional. Where do I start, Jose, our server provided outstanding customer service, and the food was delicious. My husband had the street tacos and I had the Chimichanga Chicken Parmegiano. The tortillas are made right inside the restaurant. The ambience of the place is great added their outside patio on the water. We will be back!

Super busy spot and it wasn't a bad experience, just wasn't great either. Food was fine, service was a bit slow and disjointed. Didn't see our server from the moment we got our food to when we got the check which is when he asked if I wanted more water. I'll hope for the best and attribute it to them being busy that night

The food was excellent. We sat outside and the service was not good. Maybe the waitress was having an off day. I can honestly say that I will not sit outside again. We were there the week before and sat inside. The waiter was extremely attentive and you didn't have to ask for anything such as more chips or a refill of your drink. We will be back in Jax in July and will visit again but we will sit inside. Great food!!

This place is a hidden gem! The food was the best I've ever had at La Nopalera, and the service was excellent. We left feeling full and satisfied with the taste and experience.

We had a table of 10 ppl and our waiter absolutely could not handle the amount of ppl!!! He also had other tables which if that was the case they should have given him some help!!! The customer service is terrible. I went in today and waited about 7mins. No one said anything to me. I finally asked for the manager but he had just left. Several of the waitresses asked passed me several times and acted like I was invisible. One literally looked at me then or her head down. It wasn't even busy. Business must be really good to not care about customers anymore. Smh

I’ve never had a bad experience here, day or night. The food is piping hot & fresh. The servers are friendly and attentive. And the margaritas are margaritaing‼️ I love the decor and the back patio deck area. This is a best kept secret of the Northside. Even busy times are still great! Definitely a fan!

Delicious, cool vibe! We eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants. The salsa taste amazing enough to come back for that alone. No skimping on the cheese dip! Love this place! Fast and affordable! 9.99$ for my plate plus a taco for lunch. Nice Staff

Had a great dinner. The food was delicious. It took a bit for it to come out though. They were really busy on a Tuesday! Update; Nov 22, 2023 - the root beer kept tasting like Diet Coke. I had to wait for a bit for a new drink, but they were pretty busy... ended up just getting a sprite to drink.

every time we go the waitress or waiter is on point. all workers there make sure food is out in a timely manner. we always request Jose to wait on us. the fresh guacamole is my favorite and the asada tacos are delicious.
