Unequivocally the most terrible experience of my life. Countless opportunities to identify the problem were arrogantly dismissed and then it was all followed up with callous, misinformed, and hurtful end of life advocacy worse than anything I could have possibly imagined. Any single item below would on its own be sufficient justification for my warning. Big dog owners at the very least, if not all animal lovers, go elsewhere, find a real veterinary clinic (Urban Animal) where they show genuine concern for animals, have a clear ability to handle mobility impaired dogs, and demonstrate competence with life threatening situations. You won't find any of that here. 1. They don't care about big dogs at all and have zero skills, tools, or inclination for assisting mobility impaired animals. Just look at the slippery floors. 2. They don't know anything about preventative care and never showed any interest in digging deeper than the most superficial answer to expediently get me out the door in all scenarios. No useful advice, no insightful tests, never anything more than the bare minimum pretense of aid sufficient for securing a quick and easily billable turnaround. For example, they kept telling me my dog was just overweight, just based on rote knowledge and arbitrary breed classification (not even correct) rather than any assessed metrics. This was instead of actually investigating any of the things that a better vet picked up on instantly, or ever discussing the kind of common cancer risk that was actually killing him (splenic hemangiosarcoma) and causing all the symptoms that lead me to seek their help in the last half year of his life, before which he was a paragon of health. 3. They enthusiastically advocated euthanasia at the first inconvenience, misrepresenting or blatantly lying about the availability and viability of any alternatives (later learned about from real vets at Urban Animal), talked me out of using the DNA preservation kit I had sourced, gave a time to live estimate fifteen times shorter than reality (3+ precious months where he was still alert and clearly happy to be part of the family vs their stated, "a week of unwanted suffering at best"), and sent us off with some very poorly thought out medications, to superficially ease his symptoms, which even a layperson such as myself could clearly see would have done almost nothing while likely exacerbating the very issues that would most directly contribute to his demise. In contrast, real vets elsewhere immediately contributed useful information, used diagnostics effectively, and provided medicines that provided significant aid rather than just stupidly trying to counter trivial symptoms. Brilliant, I've never encountered a more passionate advocate for dog murder. This vet was so fixated on that outcome and so actively opposed to even discussing alternatives that you really felt it was their favorite part of the job. Fortunately, I didn't follow any of their terrible directives, which were diametrically opposed to what any rational and caring person would determine is best for their loved one's end of life experience. But that wasn't an easy outcome. I was very lucky to have some smart friends with me and I'm decently stubborn when things start to feel manipulative. Even then, I almost went along with this madness and I'm sure there's lots of people who do get talked into having their animals euthanized as the end outcome of this cynical business profiting from their failures to do anything more than paint a helpful facade. We easily got more value from a couple of hours internet research than the entirety of what this place provided over 6+ years and were able to use natural medicines on our own to give Freak a very comfortable and loving stretch of time vastly beyond the capabilities of what these snake oil salesmen were pushing. Finally, you'll often overhear assistant conversations such as, "Doctor Carson likes to keep appointments brief". This assessment is based on having taken Freak to LUVC for more than half of his life (6+ years)

TLDR. if you are ok with your pet treated like livestock and being given orders, treated like you and your pet are on the conveyor belt -- you'll like it here. I went to this clinic for almost 3 years, brought two dogs here, one with two chronic conditions. In May 2023 I had the worst appointment ever with the vet called Jake Bridge. I've never seen a vet so incompetent in handling both the dog and the owner. To the owner of the clinic: you've lost round $2000+ just in two months after this appointment (my older dog needed teeth cleaned and both dogs needed a wellness check, with the older having extra needs; I planed to do it at your clinic but after the incident I chose another one). both dogs (4 and 13 yo) have never showed a single sign of aggression toward humans and were (and are) always good patients (ask your own technicians and other vets). My dog is large, friendly and well trained (I used to be a dog trainer in "another life"). jb refused us service because he could not even approach my muzzled dog (from the very start of the appointment) without restraining him. jb was NOT friendly, he did NOT try to greet the dog, he was giving orders to me and had zero flexibility. he refused to cooperate with me: I told him the dog is friendly and trained, and if he tells me what he needs we'll do it. to this suggestion he looked me blank in the eye and slowly repeated - "give the leash to the technician". you are not my drill sergeant to give me orders. I refused. he ended the appointment. From that moment an on I knew I will never be able to trust this business with my pets lives. what happened next? I found another clinic, fear-free certified (my other dog is afraid of the clinics, so it's mostly for her). They took us in the next day. Two young women gave my dog a thorough full body check, with checking teeth, ears, eyes, and blood draw. Lo and behold, all that without even a muzzle on (I offered it two times, they declined two times). he received a bunch of vaccines too. again, no muzzle, everyone is happy. so... I'm actually grateful for this experience since I finally found a certified clinic (have been hunting for one since I've heard about fear free certification) and got all procedures done by an experienced knowledgeable staff the very next day, with respect both to my dog (which is the most important part) and me. Out of two countries and 4 states over a span of 13.5 years this appointment is #1 the worst I've ever had. and I had bad appointments before. but you take the gold, jb. p.s. as for other staff: other vets - depends. some are meh (good enough), others are pretty good (but I had little exposure to them since the clinic started in person appointments just recently) technicians - all girls I interacted with were great. cooperative, friendly, flexible, attentive. I've seen them picking up the slack after inattentive vets. kudos to you, girls, you have my respect. administration - 3/5. polite but not friendly (not a deal breaker for me). super inattentive. one time it took them several attempts and two weeks to send the right prescription to the right pharmacy. I always had to ask for another prescription a month in advance because this process was so unreliable.

Ask for an itemized receipt before taking your pet in. Because of Covid they still do not allow owners inside their office. I recently took my dog in for her vaccine and was charged an additional $70 because she was apparently due for a “physical check up with the vet”. This would have been fine but I was not told this prior to my appointment. She was in the office for a total of 5 minutes and I never saw or heard from the vet. Typically when we have done a physical check up during her vaccination appointment I will receive a call from the vet while my dog is being seen so we can talk over any questions or concerns I have. These appointments usually run closer to 20-30 minutes long. Dr Waterhouse didn’t call me during the appointment to talk through my dogs health. I called back and asked to either be refunded or to at least speak with Dr Waterhouse since that is apart of the typical check up routine. Dr Waterhouse declined speaking with me. After 2 more calls to their office of me expressing to them how I feel completely scammed and taken advantage of, they offered me a $15 refund. The technicians have been extremely rude over the phone about this issue. I highly recommend going to another vet. If you do decide to go here please make sure you ask for your charges ahead of the appointment and if you are getting a physical exam, make sure you actually receive a call from the Doctor while your pet is inside and spend at least 20-30 minutes. With their Covid restrictions not allowing you to go inside it is extremely sketchy that they feel comfortable sending you random bills for things you weren’t there to witness being done or approve prior.

So I have been going to this vet clinic for my dog's entire life. He has a wound on his paw and it was bandaged up. I was given the direction not to get the bandage wet until his next visit to remove it. Unfortunately, my dog knocked over his water bowl with his E-collar, and his bandage got wet. I called this morning to see about changing the bandage or just removing it myself and keeping the wound clean until his next visit. I was told I would get a call back with further instruction. Fast forward two hours, no follow up. I called again and was told to call back in two-three hours. How can I not get a simple answer over the phone? This circumstance is also not the first. When I had first noticed my dog's injury on his foot, I called to get an appointment when they first opened in the morning. I was told that I would receive a call back (this was Saturday). I never received a call back and had to call again on Monday (they are closed Sunday). Other than the lack of follow up, they do provide great service to your pet. You need to be vigilant and proactive if you want an answer or appointment. UPDATE/EDIT: I will say in the previous circumstance, the follow-up was not the best. However, I have continued to see this vet for my furbaby. They truly do provide great service and I believe the situation before was due to the lack of staffing. I haven’t had a problem since then and they have been very accommodating when I need to get squeezed in for an appointment. The staff is also super friendly as well. I’m changing my review from three stars to four stars.

Lake Union Veterinary Clinic has taken care of my last two dogs. I couldn't be happier with the care they received. My current dog is an English Cream Golden Retriever. She is the most loving animal I have ever had. The most loyal pet. She is also very very submissive and fearful of the most ordinary things. Paper shopping bags, the mop, of course the vacuum cleaner and the list goes on. What worried me at first, is if by bringing her in the the clinic, it would cause her to develop yet another fear. Not that she isn't the greatest dog. She walks and plays with other dogs, but she simply is very docile. When she was 8 weeks old, I took her to LUV and she was first seen by Dr. Waterhouse. She lay on the floor, then the exam table and never made a peep. She was examined, prodded, and given her first shots. She came out of that first exam and every one since, just as happy going in as she does coming out. Not even a hint of fear at the Vet's. I credit the staff and Veterinarians who have treated her like the most precious animal to them. She is treated there as though she means to them as much as she means to me. Dr. Waterhouse always, in his very serious style, makes Sofie, comfortable, happy and thrilled to be in the room. Weather with a treat or his animal whispering talents, Sofie and I wouldn't go to any other Veterinary clinic in town.

I’ve had the worst experience at Lake Union Vetinary clinic. I was late to an appointment because a lane in the tunnel was down and because of traffic in the area and even though I had been driving for over an hour and based on the GOS should have gotten there 20 minutes early they refused to let me see the vet even though I told them that my dog had recently been hospitalized and I wanted to talk to them about it. They wanted to charge me the same amount of money to just take the dog back to get his shots without the vet actually doing any of the work. This is unacceptable and infuriating. I can’t control traffic and how can you not be a little accommodating. I’m humiliated that someone would treat me this way and not think I should be able to talk to a vet when my dog was recently hospitalized and i drove over an hour to see the vet. what a terrible experience. it would take such a small effort to help me. it was like they were going out of their way to stick to the rules and make my day miserable instead of having any empathy and compassion. People like that shouldnt be working at a vet and should find a new occupation.

  • Alexia Lou

here’s the story, i have been going to here for 4+ years, despise the distance from my home and the traffic in downtown; and recently i was asked to prepay all my visits. At first, the front desk lady made it sound like it applies to everyone, so i was not happy, but ok. then I found out they only applied this rule to customer who have missed “significant” number of appointments. I would understand if i’m like that, but i’m not. I explained them, the only time I has a lat minute cancellation was due to my dog fell down my car seat and was limping, but got better next day, when the appointment was scheduled. When I called, even the front desk lady then agreed it’s better the save a vet trip when it’s not necessary, and she mentioned nothing of such policy. I thought if they can prove me wrong, then it’s fine too. So I asked them, “can you list the number of time I had last minute cancellation or no show”, they said “no, we don’t keep that record”. I express my unhappiness multiple time, and is pretty much ignored. i’m definite looking out for other vets who does BS on their reason of treating customers differently

I honestly don’t understand how this place has such good reviews… didn’t care for how they treated my girl while I was present in the room. Will not be chancing to see how they treat them when we aren’t around to see everything. Replying to the owner, I’m not sure what diagnostics I’ve declined being that I went through with both medications that were recommended by your vet, as well as the ear swabs they did “in the back,” and at the time I even planned to follow through with the sedated x rays she needed to determine the cause of her limp (which you did not have time for that day and needed to be schedule for a later date which was fine) there at LUVC, until I realized they were overcharging by AT LEAST $300 for said sedated x rays. Had really high hopes for this place. And maybe our first experience there was just a one time thing, but your reply just sealed the deal for me. Especially coming from someone I’m assuming was not in the room during our visit. I’m obviously only one person so I’m sure my one “bad” review affects you in no way. Be kind and well.

We no longer have a car and we do have a pandemic. That made it necessary for us to find a veterinarian within walking distance. Lake union Veterinary was recommended by a friend and we contacted them. Luckily they have set up a system that allowed us to bring our cat for her regular checkup and rabies shot. We were told that we would no be allowed to enter the building but the cat would be met outside and taken care of. Any regret we felt over not being with our pet was quickly eased when Dr. Carson fled us after her exam. She spoke about the specifics of the exam in detail and generated in us, great confidence that she had taken every opportunity to properly care for our girl. She also suggested some base line blood and urine work. She was so friendly and careful with both our cat and with us that we have absolute confidence in her. The cost of service was very reasonable and the results of the lab work arrived in two days with a positive report. We have absolutely found our new Veterinarian.

  • Tyler Hallman

My experience at this clinic and with this vet was absolutely terrible. Communication from the vet was awful. They did examinations in a separate room and the vet refused to make time to talk to me. I was taking a cat overseas and the vet actively impeded my efforts instead of trying to help me work through the complexities. Not only was the vet wrong about whether the USDA would approve our forms (they were approved), but he made a mistake on the rabies vaccination form that was required for entry into the UK. He genuinely, single-handedly, nearly caused the entry of my pet into the UK to be denied. This vet lacks 1) the ability to effectively communicate, 2) compassion and understanding for pet owners, and 3) humility and the ability to admit when he is wrong. Furthermore, his carelessness as he rushes through things can cause major issues when things like microchip numbers are written incorrectly.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can’t say enough good things about LUVC, specifically Drs. Carson and Bridge. When my dog was just a pup, they saved his life multiple times with their top-notch medical expertise and cutting-edge treatments. Their dedication didn’t stop there; they’ve been an unwavering pillar of support throughout his 13 years. As my dog has aged and developed arthritis, Drs. Carson and Bridge have been proactive in managing his symptoms. They introduced us to Adequan injections, which have significantly improved his quality of life. Because of them, my dog continues to live his best life, despite his age and health conditions. From the front desk staff to the veterinary nurses and doctors, everyone at LUVC exudes professionalism and a genuine love for animals. If you’re in search of a veterinary clinic that combines compassionate care with medical excellence, please check out Lake Union Vet Clinic.

I’ve had Lake Union Veterinary Clinic as my primary vet for my now 10 year old dog for the past 7 years or so. They have been outstanding every step of the way. Dr. Carson is a phenomenal veterinarian and takes that extra step when it comes to ensuring the best quality of life for pets. For the more practical matters, the pricing here is fair and very competitive with other vets in the city and I’ve never had trouble getting a same day appointment when needed (the vets are very well connected and organized so in a pinch I have no concerns seeing anyone available in the office). They’re also very transparent about their diagnosis and treatment plans and willing to give referrals for special cases (I’ve gotten a referral for oncology in dealing with a few cancers that my dog has been through) and will go out of their way to help with anything the specialist may need.

I recently moved to Seattle, and away from a fantastic veterinarian I'd been seeing for several years. I was a bit nervous about finding a new vet but my fears were put to rest! The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful as soon as I walked in. The facility was clean and everyone was kind to my nervous pup. My vet was Dr.Waterhouse and I'll definitely be going back to him. I had a list of questions/concerns and he took the time to address every issue. I never felt rushed or felt like I was wasting his time with my questions. He was informative and at the end of our meeting he said "let's follow up in a few days" which I always appreciate. I also had my dogs nails trimmed and ears cleaned while he was there and they did a good job. Lastly, I never felt like vaccines, medicine, or product was being "pushed" on me. All charges seemed fair.

Dr. Carson at Lake Union Vet Clinic is amazing! She has been taking care of my 16 year old cat and 14 year old dog since we moved to Seattle from upstate NY two years ago. After we settled in, the biggest challenge was finding a good veterinarian. There are a few qualities about Dr Carson that both me and my husband appreciate. She is always available for us when we need her. She will make same day appointments for emergencies. She is an excellent communicator. She will take time to explain the issues very well either face to face or by phone or by a long e-mail. She is very knowledgeable and her diagnoses is spot on and the medications she prescribes work very well for my animals. I should also point out that the front desk is always kind and helpful as well as the veterinarian technicians.

I thought I needed a new clinic for our dogs as I lost confidence in the care provided by my previous vet. My first consult at Lake Union is the best I've experienced in 20 years of dog ownership. It included a thorough review of our 2 dogs current health. The conversation with the dr provided markedly better advice including discontinuing an immunization our other provider recommended (as it's not needed in Seattle), adding annual routine lab review for our standard poodle who takes a long-term med (needed - the other place never mentioned) and real suggestions for helping our miniature poodle with hip pain (the other place just prescribed a drug). I left confident I knew my options and how to best care for our dogs as they age. Lake Union offers a step change in expertise and care.

  • Joy A

Dr. Waterhouse has been our vet for close to 10 years now. He is kind and compassionate with our dogs, and patient with us. We never feel hurried or rushed by any of the staff at LUVC. Dr. Waterhouse is particularly great with older animals. He is a great listener and he is thoughtful about the course of treatment he recommends. If that treatment is no longer effective after a period of time, he always has another plan in mind. We honestly believe he gave us an additional 3 years with our Bailey-dog. If you're looking for someone to talk baby-talk to your pet, this is probably not the place for you. If you're looking for someone to provide the best possible health care for your pet, go to LUVC. P.S. We love Dr. Carson, too!

  • Jocelyn Coe

I have been relying on LUVS since I moved downtown 3 years ago, I have been grateful for their care and expertise for three of my Bernese Mountian Dogs and they have always come through with great service, communication and respect. My Maya had TPLO surgery two years ago with LUVS and she has had a full recovery since. They diagnosed my 7 month old Berner with meningitis after running a scope of tests and after months of intense steroid treatment, he is back to a happy, healthy 2 year old pup and they treated me and my 10 year old dog Brutus with respect and dignity when it was time to say goodbye. These guys are honest and knowledgeable, I have confidence in bringing my animals here.

  • Trang Vo

I've been taking my senior doxie here for the past 2.5 years and I couldn't be happier with the approach Dr. Ng has taken with him. She's so great about giving suggestions, not being pushy, but also being really direct while being gentle. I trust her 100% with my lil guy and truly believe she's helped to extend his life (he's almost 18 years old!) and his quality of life especially as his mobility has declined with time. It's been disappointing not to be able to go into the office with covid altho I completely understand. She's been great about calling me after exams and keeping me informed. We don't see Dr. Waterhouse as often but when we do, he's been great too!

  • Rebecca Lee

The front desk staff and Dr. Carson really took care of our cat who we had adopted, and really explained everything thoroughly to us, as new cat owners. We had gone to them during the covid-19 pandemic, and the way that they handled checking in and social distancing was great. I really appreciated how they took care of our cat, and always tried to fit us in knowing we were worried about our cat's health and injuries. I definitely recommend to those in the SLU location. The price at this vet might be higher, but I really think that their service and care is worth it. We've moved from SLU, but still make a trip to LUVC just because their care seems to be unmatched.

  • Samantha Williams

LUV is by far the best vet's office in Seattle. We brought our two animals here 3.5 years ago and have received the most amazing care and help. From the moment you enter the office you are greeted with a warm smile and you rarely have to wait to see the Drs. Both Dr, Waterhouse and Dr Carson have worked with both our pets and given the best care. They go over and above to make sure you are comfortable and understand what your pets needs. Kayleigh will follow up with you and always is there to answer any questions you have, she is terrific. I would highly recommend this clinic if you are looking for caring professionals to take care of your fur babies.

  • Marston Gould

I've been taking my two older chocolate labs to LUVC now for about 3.5-4 years. I started as a customer when I moved to downtown Seattle, but even when I moved to West Seattle, I continued to take my pets there. I have always found the staff to be highly professional and they really do care about the health of the pets they provide care to. As my dogs age, like old people, they tend to develop their own unique health issues, some of which can be difficult to diagnose. The staff at LUVC has stuck with it and really spends the time to try and figure out what is going on with your pets and will take the time to come up with the best solutions.

  • Diana Stribl

Lake Union Vet has been wonderful every time we visit! They are always great about sharing their honest thoughts and the facts about what is happening. They offer all viable options and information to help you make the best choice for your furry family members, whatever the visit. Our corgi literally pulls to go to the vet and loves them! Our beagle is usually shy and skiddish with vets, but he is very calm here because the staff attend to him with care and sensitivity. They have been wonderful at helping us maintain regular veterinary care, deal with scrapes, and treat illness for the past two years, and I would highly recommend!

  • Melody Gonzalez

This clinic is fantastic. I've seen every doctor here but most recently have been seeing Dr. Carson. She helped me through some times with my aging dog, and now my aging cat. She remembers me even though she sees so many people and pets a day. However, every doctor here has always listened to me, taken my concerns seriously, and helped alleviate my fears with our animals. Even the techs would come out to say hi to my pup despite not being the one that was seeing her that day. I really trust their guidance, and it's a relief to have a vet that truly seems to care about our pets, as well as us as clients. Highly recommend.

  • Stephanie Gamino

Dr. Carson and her team were awesome! It is very comforting to be surrounded by a team that is obviously happy to be at work with so many animals. They provided great customer service and made me feel right at home with my new kitten. They provided plenty of information that was useful to me as a new owner of my little girl and were very helpful after hours when I had a health scare. They kept me at ease and were quick to get back to me at home, even though it was very late at night. I am very happy with the services they have provided to me and look forward to continuing to visit them in the near future.

  • Amelia Sosa Carter

Dr. Waterhouse is great! Our doggie has been his patient for over 3 years (we moved from out of state) and we always have a great experience. His suggestions and treatments are spot on, and I fell he genuinely cares for his patients. I also want to mention and give a "5 starts review" to his assistants, and the front desk girls. They are awesome! I enjoy chatting with them and they are very welcoming on the phone and in person. I have never got an attitude or a bad look. They are always smiling, and willing to help! love LOVE Lake Union Veterinary Clinic! And our Mac does too!! Thank you guys :0)

  • A Lietzenmayer

We've been going to LUVC through 4 dogs and since 2014. Cannot say enough about the excellent care, consideration, and kindness we've had with our dogs at Lake Union Vet. Dr. Bridge had the hard task of helping us in with end of life care for two senior dogs (2015, and 2019) and along with the staff made 2 of the hardest days of our life as soft and cared for as possible. Both Dr. Bridge and Dr. Carson have been communicative and caring and we will continue to recommend LUVC for all animal parents! :) our current pack LOVES going into the vet and that says something more than I can!

  • Kelsea T

Dr. Carson is very knowledgeable and takes amazing care of my senior dog. Geriatric care comes with lots of issues (kidney disease, dental disease, pancreatitis, dehydration, arthritis) and balancing all the treatments (diet, meds, hydrotherapy) is difficult. Dr. Carson has been able to improve my boy’s health and prolong his quality of life. She takes the time to explain the diagnosis, the treatment options, and helps me decide next steps. She truly cares about my dog and I’m grateful for her help. The whole staff is friendly and makes a stressful event more manageable.

  • Laurel Northup

We needed a new vet on moving to Seattle with our 2 corgis, and a pet-sitting friend highly recommended LUVC. We were very happy with the front desk reception staff, the tech who brought us into the exam room and brought our meds afterwards, and Dr. Waterhouse. Everyone made sure we felt welcome and put the dogs at ease. Our questions were addressed with clear explanations and directions. Dr. W. even knew and endorsed the places we had chosen for grooming and training. Glad to know our dogs' health is in good hands. We appreciated the free reserved parking, too.

  • Sabrina Z

My sister and I came to Lake Union Vet for a second opinion on our cat Leo. After being at another vet who was not very informative or friendly, being at Lake Union Vet felt right. Even though the outcome was still that our cat needed to be put down, the care, guidance and information we got at Lake Union Vet was above and beyond. We both felt so comfortable in the decision to have Leo put down and this was due to the exceptional service we received. It made a very difficult time a little bit easier and I would recommend them to all my friends and family.

  • Tucker Flood

The service and staff here have always been pleasant, knowledgeable, and taken great care of our dogs. We've gone to them for years now and have had no reason to do otherwise. The only downside I've found is some difficulty with their Covid procedures--their text/call check in system doesn't always work out quickly, which can leave you wrangling a dog (or two) outside their door among others while they work to check even in. Still, quality is the most important thing in a vet in my eyes and I've never felt they were anything but worth the small hassle.

  • Kat

The staff here are so wonderful and caring. My two cats haven't been doing well for a bit and they've been calling every so often to check up on how they're doing between visits (since the medication takes a bit to work). I feel like that isn't something most vets would do and it really shows how much they care. The whole staff has always been good with the cats in the exam room and also at explaining all of the options and the steps we plan to take to get the cats better. I will definitely continue to come here as long as possible.

  • Maryam Maleki

We have been clients of this clinic for years and always happy but I have been waiting 6 days for the doctor to call me with my cat’s test results. I have called them 4 times and asked for the results but no one cares. In fact Miles the office manager rudely dismissed my issue and gave me an attitude for leaving this review. This is not acceptable. I shouldn’t have to wait this long to find out if my cat has cancer or not. I am so frustrated and disappointed in LUVC and feel completely helpless. I am 100% done with them.

  • anil kapahi

I first went to see Dr. Carson about six months ago, after some very negative experiences at other clinics, and she seemed appreciative of the research that I had done myself and was quite knowledgeable about all aspects of cat care. I have been there twice since then and everyone has been friendly and no one has tried to "push" unnecessary care and the charges have always been reasonable. In my experience, among veterinary clinics this clinic is a rare find. They are friendly, honest, competent and reasonably priced.

  • Kyle Marshall

This is the best vet clinic I've been to. The staff is incredibly friendly and polite. The place is ridiculously clean. Normally vet clinics have that weird wet dog odor. This one smells great. The doctors are very competent and very through. They communicate very clearly. We normally see Dr. Carson, and she's always been terrific at giving advice and explaining what's going on with our dog. This place feels more like a pediatricians office than your normal animal clinic. If they had a people branch, I'd go there too.

  • Seeley Chandler

My dog and cat have been cared for by all the veterinarians at LUVC (3) for the last 11 years. They are highly trained and don't do tests that are not necessary. Their office makes sure somebody responds quickly and has the veterinarian involved as soon as necessary. The staff are very nice and remain at the clinic for years. The services seem expensive but are completely worth the cost. We are currently settled in with Dr. Blake who is superb, but each veterinarian is great. I hightly recommend this group.

My 3 year old lab has been going to Lake Union Veterinary Clinic for the last 2 years. I honestly just picked the vet closest to me with the best reviews. All those positive reviews are definitely well-deserved across the board. The technicians, front-desk administrators, and of course Dr. Waterhouse, are all amazing and provide a caring/fun/consultative experience, making their patients & owners feel comfortable. Knowing Steel (my pup) is being taken care of is a weight lifted. Highly recommend, 5 stars!

Do not come here if you truly care about your pets health. They only care about money. It’s located in SLU and tech people be aware of this place. They know you have the money and you like convenience. I took my dog there twice. He was referred to take medicine which didn’t even treat his symptoms. Later on they came back to me and told me it was a different disease. Now I have to pay for another medicine. It was an endless money sucker and my poor pup didn’t even feel better after all those. I've been going to Lake Union Vet Clinic since I got my dog Dublin over 5 years ago. They've always been extremely helpful in regular check-ups and visits for more immediate concerns. The last time I visited I was very worried about my dog itching all over like crazy. The vet prescribed a medication (after giving me my options and patiently answering my questions) and within a few days Dublin had stopped itching and was back to her old self. So I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Bruno, our beloved hound mix, whom we adopted from PAWS, has gotten his care at LUVC since we brought him home at nine weeks of age. Dr. Cary and the team he has built provide the best medical care you can get anywhere in Seattle. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and above all, you can tell they want to be there and want to spend their days caring for our four-legged family members. Highly recommended from these two satisfied pup-parents, and four paws up from Bruno.

They have a good system down, even during this weird time. Was able to have all my concerns met with the vet via a phone call while she was getting looked at. They were a little busy while we were there, but it was a Friday and the staff seem to have it under control. My dog gets separation anxiety sometimes and she was able to stay calm during the exam while we weren’t in the room. I was able to walk away with new prescription food for my pup and all her vaccines taken care of.

We moved to Seattle and needed to find a good veterinarian office. Lake Union Vet office is great! Dr Bridge listened carefully to our dog’s current situation and gave us some recommendations and options very well. His quick follow up regarding the test results was also great. Also, kudos to the team. Vet tech Sydney [sp] treated my dog very nicely, and the front desk Jeff was very nice over the phone when we made an appointment. Overall great experience on our first visit!!

The vets at Lake Union Veterinary Clinic took exceptional care of my previous greyhound for years, so of course I bring my current greyhounds there as well. It can be challenging to find a genuinely greyhound-savvy vet, but everyone at Lake Union, including the vet techs, is well-informed and clearly loves the animals they work with. They respond promptly to communication, and the price is reasonable, especially given the unfailingly great quality of care.

Years ago we followed Dr. Carson to Lake Union Veterinary Clinic from her previous practice. One thing we've really appreciated from her is that she will often send us articles with good background information on whatever health crisis is afflicting our dog. Further, we've found all the veterinarians here to be knowledgeable, kind and with good rapport with our pets. Actually, their whole staff--top to bottom--are intelligent, capable and helpful.

  • Gloria Kamae

The staff and doctors at Lake Union Veterinary Clinic are fantastic! We've been going to the clinic for the past 4 years and each visit has been professional, thoughtful, and informative. Recently, my 10yr old Pomeranian/Yorkie mutt has been having a lot of health issues. LUVC was able to get us in for a same day emergency appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Ng. She's very knowledgeable, caring, and has gone above expectations.

  • Nicholas Bailey

The doctors and staff at LUVC are excellent and have been providing compassionate, quality care during this very difficult pandemic. I have an older dog and his exams here give me the peace of mind that his aging process is being managed as best as possible. I trust the doctors here completely with my dog's health and well-being. Kudos to LUVC for staying open through the pandemic - the community and our pets thank you for it!

  • Paula Pera

Great vet care! Everyone has always been super attentive to my puppy's needs and give him lots of love whenever we go in. They are also very clear when explaining what's going on with my pup, it's super easy to reach them and get an appointment, and they have always called me back very fast whenever I call or there are some lab results they need to discuss with me. Overall it's a great practice that I definitely recommend!

  • Catie Miller

I've been bringing my two precious pups to LUVC for 5 years now and couldn't be happier. The vets we've worked with over the years have been thorough, thoughtful, and very responsive to my dogs' vet anxiety! The staff are all friendly and very easy to communicate with. They never drop any balls and are always prompt on reminders for me to pick up meds or make appointments - making my job a lot easier! Highly recommend!

We recently started going to Lake Union Vet after switching from another local vet and we’ve had wonderful experiences so far. We recently had one of our dogs teeth cleaned under general anesthesia and the team took amazing care of our dog before, during, and after. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about the care LUVC provides. They arguably love our dogs as much as we do. Thank you LUVC!

  • Natalia Pieratos

I’ve been bringing two of my rescue chihuahua mixes here for the last two years or so. I’m the first one to admit that my dogs are challenging patients, with a lot of behavioral and trust issues. Despite all of that, Dr. Carson and Dr. Chan have been nothing but wonderful in handling their routine care as well as few emergency visits. I trust their care and am grateful for their services.

  • Robert Fertig

The doctors seem pretty good, and they're pretty flexible with appointments. They are good about making our dog comfortable, and will do the basics (take his weight) without an appointment. However, the techs don't seem so good - they never seem to understand the questions we ask and so it takes us a while to get the answer we're looking for, and it's hard to be confident in it.

  • Tad Bixby

Excellent experience end to end with kind and friendly staff who made our Pup's first checkup so easy and painless. Using their app makes communications and record keeping a snap. So happy to have such a great resource so close by in SLU. My Update: Two more perfect visits for shots iced the deal. They love my dog. My dog loves them. I love my dog. I love them, too. ❤️

  • Kit Harris

Dr. Waterhouse and staff are the best there is. I travel from West Seattle for my dog because I know the care, concern, treatment and service is worth the drive (and you know what traffic is like in our fair City!). My dog has been a regular for over 8 years. We are very, very happy with all the good care we've received. I recommend Lake Union Vet with no reservations at all.

  • Matt Sidor

I brought all three of my pets in at once and they made the whole process seamless and stress-free. The vet who examined my pets seemed really knowledgeable and thorough, and he answered all my questions clearly. The tech who checked me in and carried my pets back and forth was super friendly and efficient. I’m glad I found a good vet practice for my fur babies.

  • Kevin Warhus

We’re new to the area and picked this vet as they were nearby in SLU. They were able to book everything online and even have an app. The staff and vet were incredibly sweet with our senior cat who was a little shaken up to be there. There did some blood work and called same day to discuss the results. They were amazing and I will definitely be going back.

  • Alissa Haslam

I have been seeing Dr Sarah Carson at LUV for years. The clinic staff is friendly and the Doctors truly care about their patients. When our dog got really sick Dr Carson was a critical partner in helping to find solutions and different methods to get her well. She was very committed to finding root cause of the illness and not just treating the symptoms.

  • Ashleigh Harvey

I've had several vets as we've moved often over the past few years, and Lake Union Veterinary Clinic is by far the best vet I've had. The staff is friendly, reliable and excellent with communication. I always feel my dog is under the best care when she's at LUVC. The system they've put in place for COVID has been great. I would definitely recommend LUVC.

  • Emily Haney

Love all the team here and I took my two pitties here for many years. One was quite nervous and reactive, they worked patiently and compassionately with me to provide good care for him here. My other dog had lifelong health issues that they provided expert advice on to manage and make our lives SO much easier and more healthy for her. 100% recommend.

  • Kari Kalway

We are thankful for the kind and supportive staff at LUV. They provide multiple options when a problem arises and will give us their opinion as if Kora was their dog. Hydrotherapy has helped Kora recover at a much faster pace, which makes and and her happy. She has started to really enjoy the water treadmill, she loves working until she is tired.

  • Kiara Boggs

In the pandemic era it's been really difficult to get my pets in for routine care, or even urgent care at any vet. We finally tried Lake Union and they were able to get us in quickly, easily, and get all the routine care updated on top of the more urgent concern. Very happy with their check-in and billing service, and they are very communicative.

  • Leslie Mitchell

We love Anna. She's been so amazing with our dogs Hydrotherapy! We've been going to water therapy for about a year or so and they were so patient with Butters, and she graduated from someone having to be in the tank with her to prevent her from being distracted to being able to be on her own. Anna is a definitely a gem at this vet clinic!!

  • Phil & Yulia

We were with Sarah Carson when she was at her previous clinic, and moved with her to Lake Union. She is the best vet we have ever known... Smart, caring and highly competent. Her treatment of our old dog was genuinely compassionate and really helped her during her last years. We can't recommend her highly enough - she's a fantastic vet.

  • Mariel Sacayan

My experience with LUVC was nothing but excellent. It was our first time adopting a pup and we were still new to being fur parents. However, LUVC made us feel comfortable and informed us of the necessary information we would need for our new pup. Definitely 10/10 would reccommend everyone to visit LUVC for all their pets needs.

  • Lynn Davis

I am so happy to have learned about Lake Union Vet and in particular about hydrotherapy. Dr. Waterhouse is very thoughtful and very patient and has some wonderful new ideas for helping my Havanese with back leg issues. Anna who does the therapy is so knowledgable and caring and I highly recommend Lake Union Veterinary.

  • Ashley Hartwell

I took my senior golden retriever to LUVC for 3 years and they always took such good care of him. I never had an issue getting in for urgent issues. They were attentive and listened to my concerns. I was given honest answers with our front pricing and options for everything. I can not recommend this clinic enough!

  • Angus Steele

LUVC is the best vet in the Seattle area. Each vet we see is deeply caring and knowledgeable. Unlike most vets who you cannot get appointment with, LUVC keeps slots open for emergencies meaning you can always get your pet in when there is a serious need. We are very thankful to have found them.

  • Jefrey Quiroz

My first puppy came from a bad home, Lake Union Veterinary Clinic helped me get her to a good physical standing and guided me through the process. My second puppy was also well taken care of in the clinic. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure the puppies are comfortable and safe.

  • Jordyn Grinnell

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. My dog requires a lot of patience due to his abusive past, and every time I go there the staff is so kind and takes such good care of him. Everything from nail trims to checkups are so much easier when you know your pet is in good hands.

  • Jackie Harbour

We love Lake Union Vet! They have the best doctors, vet techs, and support staff who really treat your pets like their own. We love how caring they are and patient with your questions and concerns. We've been with them for 4 years and recommend them to anyone looking for a vet office!

  • Kali Poore

Made it an easy vet visit for my kitties! At the end of their appointments the Vetinarian took plenty of time to talk to me about the needs of my cats and their well being. Felt like they did a great job of really taking care of my pets. Happy to established care with them!

  • Farouq Halawa

I like to recommend this clinic. My puppy Brooklyn had Giardia and with the great advice and treatment, he recovered within one round. Amazing staff and docs! Also they are always responsive to phone calls and questions. They also pet the dogs and treat them so well

  • Kathleen Hypatia Roan

LUVC manages to be efficient, compassionate, informative, friendly, and timely. I'm so happy they caught my kitty's thyroid condition and provided me with good advice so I could choose an informed treatment path that (I hope) will make her life long and happy.

  • phyllis davis

They are friendly and communicate with me to let me know what's going on at the initial appointment. My doctor, who is new to us, takes her time to explain my dog's condition and to talk about what kind of treatment is best. They are a well organized clinic

  • joshua c

I didn't really get very far in the sign up process for our recently adopted dog's first check up. Reception must have been going through something or having a bad day but it felt like a hostile situation and we decided to try out another clinic instead.

  • Ekaterina Serova

I've been taking my older dog to LUVC for 9 years even after we moved out of the city. Recently got a puppy and was not even looking around but decided to continue bringing them both to Dr. Bridge and Dr. Waterhouse. They are absolutely amazing!

  • Tiffany Luong

Wonderful team at Lake Union Vet Clinic. Everyone is caring, and helpful with everything my puppy has needed. They know what they're doing, and are sure to bond with the pets prior to treating them. You can tell they really care for the pets.

  • Rai Friedman

They are fantastic at administering hydrotherapy, so far my dog, who doesn't like water, had been cooperating. The facility is clean and seems up to date with well functioning equipment. There staff is amazing with my anxious pup .

  • Samantha DeLuna

Dr. Carson has been our vet since our dog was just a 5 lb puppy. She is thoughtful and generous with sharing information, and genuinely cares for our pup. We are grateful for Dr. Carson, Dr. Waterhouse, and all of the LUVC team.

  • Bret Fetzer

We've been going to LUVC for many years now. We've had a number of different vets for our cats, but they've all been thoughtful and compassionate. We greatly appreciate the care our cats have gotten from LUVC.

  • Lloyd Branch (LB)

We've been to a handful of vets in the greater Seattle area and our experience at Lake Union Veterinary Clinic has not yet been beaten. The staff is always very helpful, punctual, and professional.

  • Vitus Pelsey

We've taken both of our dogs to Dr. Carson for 6 years. She's fantastic with dogs with weird personalities (rescues, etc.). Our dogs always get the best care at Lake Union Veterinary Clinic.

When I call to book an apt. Don’t tell me to book it online. Especially after having me put on hold for 4 minutes before that. Do your job. Don’t tell me to do your job.

  • Darci Freeman

Dr Bridge is kind and knowledgeable and an amazing vet. He has taken such great care of our 2 dogs. We have had nothing but positive experiences here. 5 stars!
