*PLEASE READ FOR YOUR ANIMALS WELL BEING* We took our dog here because he was going through heart failure which at the time I was unaware. He was coughing all night and as soon as this place opened I got on the waitlist. During the 4 hour wait item he sat there patiently, coughing periodically which I now recognize as a soft/wet cough from heart failure. When we were finally seen by a vet they had us wait longer in the room alone then my dog was actually looked at by the vets. They saw my dog for around 5-7 minutes before they left the room and decided that it was either kennel cough or from eating something that was irritating his stomach. At first I agreed that it could be that he ate something bad because I had not seen my dog go through heart failure until that day so I wouldn’t have been able to recognize it as that, however the vets really didn’t have a chance to see it for themselves. They also said it could be kennel cough which I understand is common for puppies but my dog is 9 years old. I wrote his age in the paperwork and they had overlooked this and over the phone admitted they thought he was only a few months/years old. Anyway they did address his heart murmur which I was aware of, but said it wasn’t too bad but we could get an X-ray if we wanted to give him a check up. That was the biggest relief hearing that his heart murmur wasn’t the issue when in reality later that night he would have to be sent to urgent care again and be seen by a real vet. I did agree to schedule to see a cardiologist with this vet satisfied to hear that my dog was not in an urgent state by 2 of their vets. They prescribed him 2 medications and explained one was to settle his stomach irritation and the other for his cough. Later my sister read the paperwork and found out that the cough medication was actually for kennel cough, despite me insisting to the vets that it wasn’t kennel cough earlier they went ahead and prescribed him that medication anyway. The next day when I came in to confront this matter with the vets they stood their ground by questioning why we were holding them accountable for prescribing as many random medications for our dog instead of looking for the root problem. I asked if they weren’t sure if it was kennel cough, stomache issues, or heart issues why they medicated both, went against me saying it wasn’t kennel cough, and then disregarded my suspicions that it was a heart related cough. They said that is what they do and how they operate they medicate based off of only what they think is the issue medicate all of it and that’s it. They admitted they weren’t sure of their diagnosis only after when at first they told me he was fine and only had a stomachache and when I questioned why they went behind my back and prescribed kennel cough medicine despite me denying the possibility that he has kennel cough they charged me for a medicine they knew I refused so they just said it’s for his cough disguising their purpose. I did not blame them for not even recognizing that he was going through heart failure possibly because it may have died down when the vet was there and arose after. That was until the vet we were speaking to blamed us by saying we saw that you were offered a echocardiogram but you denied it so you had the chance to save your dog but you didnt. Before, I agreed to schedule a visit with their cardiologist on a different day and they had turned it against me to say I was an incompetent owner. Really I did everything I could do but in the end I could have only trusted these “medical professionals” when it came to my dogs health since I am not an expert. They let me and my dog down and when I raised questions I was put down. This place rushed my dogs care they didn’t take the time to really look at him and when they did they dismissed my concerns since I did tell them it could be heart failure but was not sure of what signs to look out for.

So this review has been insanely difficult to write - we sadly had to say goodbye to our 15 year old cat who was facing kidney failure. We were recommended to Urban Animal by the Seattle Humane Society. We came in on a Monday and had to wait a a couple hours as they are a walk-in facility and Monday's are always busy. We saw a vet who was nothing but understanding and helped explain the options about what we could do for testing and what she was looking for based on her physical exam and observations. We spent around $350 on that day for all services and fees, which, yes, is expensive, but is far more reasonable than many other places that you could go. Blood samples were taken and sent to the lab and we were waiting for results that evening or the next morning. The next day, our kitty was at a point where we knew what we had to do. We called the same office that we went to the day before and they had a room ready for us to go in due to the enormity of our situation and the fact that we were there the day before. The lab results were delayed (not Urban Animal's fault - the 3rd party lab was behind schedule.) We met with another Vet who walked us through the options we had, listened to us and our concerns, and gave us the utmost respect and empathy possible. We were scared to make the decision that we had to make, and we were absolutely heartbroken. We were met with validation of our concerns and nothing but the kindest and most sincere response. While we got ready to say goodbye - the vet gave us some time alone with our kitty. The euthanasia process is never easy, and yet we had the most amazing experience that we could have ever asked for. We left there heartbroken, but grateful for the care and attention we received from the moment we walked in. We got a call later that evening from the first vet we worked with the day before to give us the results of the lab tests, which had just come in. She informed us that he was facing kidney failure and that we made the right decision. Both vets we worked with validated our emotions and concerns and gave us the care that we needed and wanted. We spent around another $350 for a private cremation. We received his remains and a couple other very important items like a paw print, the ashes in a beautifully hand carved box, and a little card with a little bit of his hair. We will never stop recommending Urban Animal - they are what we have been looking for and they give the quality of care that we would want for our pets.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE WHOLE DAY BLOCKED OFF TO SIT IN A LOBBY FOR 3 HOURS. My partner took my cat to the White Center location because she’s had problems with UTIs in the past. They gave her a pain med and an anxiety med and said to go back to a clinic if she didn’t get any better. $160 So, obviously, this didn’t cure anything and I had to go back. I live close to the Capitol Hill location. I’m a bartender so I just opted to stay away until they opened up at 8 AM. I got there at 8:25 and was told by the receptionist it would be an hour wait to see a doctor. A vet tech came out probably 45 minutes later and told me she needed to see the doctor, not just a vet tech, and that it would be another hour. 2 hours and 54 minutes from initially stepping into the lobby, I finally got put in a room. Listen, I’m not an idiot. I know they see based on urgency. That’s fine. But how is it fair that I get there so soon after opening and have to sit in a lobby for 3 hours with my cat who is in pain, uncomfortable, and hates going to vet and ALREADY had to go two days prior? I was told there were “emergencies” but EVERY person who came into the lobby on the cat side got seen before me. Nearly 5-6 people. I’m sure I got bumped a few times more than necessary. It was almost comical. I felt like I was in a bad SNL skit or maybe a layer of hell. Another $110 visit. I think they discounted me because of the wait time, but honestly that’s not good enough. I’ll go to Jet City and spend an extra $50-100 to not have to sit in a lobby for an egregious amount of time. Bottom line: the clinic at White Center didn’t do their job and shrugged it off for another center to take care of. The employees at Capitol Hill were nice enough, but their business model is inefficient and unethical. If you’re going to have a walk-in clinic with wait times, you should have a screen accessible with updated wait times and place in line. The lack of transparency is obvious. I feel terrible for the people who work here. I would have constant anxiety having to apologize to people who are waiting multiple hours with nothing to really do about it. It’s helpless for both sides. Hopefully they can change it around for the better.

The staff here is the most wonderful and amazing group of people. They went above and beyond for our girl Sadie on 4/14/23. They did not have to help her given it was coming up on their closing time. But they did. And they were so compassionate towards us. Sadie was diagnosed 3/14/23 with High-grade large cell lymphoma. The day we ended up at Urban Animal we knew Sadie's fight was over. We spent all day trying to locate a service to help her be free from her cancer. Everything was outrageously overpriced and most were booked and wanted to schedule for another time. Like I can tell my baby girl sorry honey we have to schedule you're passing.... Anyhow, my husband called Urban and they didn't hesitate. Their price was within our range and we just had to be there by 7pm. It was 5:46pm when he called. We live in Everett and the traffic getting there delayed us. They were so understanding we were in tears just from their kindness. I can't recall the tech's name who helped us, but she was amazing. Absolutely one of the best. My husband couldn't be in the room but I refused to leave our girl. I didn't want her last moments to be alone and have her afraid. The tech was gentle with Sadie, and me, that the finality of her situation didn't fully hit me until it was all over. They allowed us to take our time to say our goodbyes, before and afterward, to our girl. Even when it was now well after 8pm. They really stepped in and helped us when nobody else would and our girl was finally able to be released from that horrible disease. I will never be able to fully express my gratitude or repay them. They will forever hold a special place in my heart for helping our girl and allowing us to help her not suffer. Thank you so much. We both appreciate all of you there that evening and for staying late when you honestly did not have to.

I showed up at 6:43 am. Doors open at 8 am. First person in line…. Intentionally as I had work obligations. saw a vet at 9:23 am. Left at 10 am on the dot. I understand they are busy, but 3 animals that were after me in line have were discharged and on their way before I saw a vet. Staff is friendly and nice but doesn’t make a ton of sense and just appears to be luck of the draw for who the vet sees first. I would come back if it actually were first come first serve for walk ins, but that is not the case. I was here 40 minutes before the next person, and that person left at least 25 minutes before i saw a vet. They took him for exam, then the vet never even came back to explain the issue. Literally didn’t talk to the vet after the exam. No actual explanation of what was wrong. A tech just walked out with an estimate for medication, and I had to ask what was wrong with my dog. She then said what the medicines did, but never another word from the vet. So 3.5 hours in total, and 2 hours from when I walked in the door. Extremely frustrating. Tends to be more affordable than other vets, but I won’t be back here. Not worth the savings for horrible service. If I wait that long, I would at least expect a 45 second conversation with the vet after the exam. I know they will say “that’s the walk in model, and we are switching” but still made 0 sense how it worked today. To their credit, this is the first time the service was horrible. It’s usually good, even with long wait times. I won’t be taking my dog here again, and will look for other options moving forward.

I don’t typically write reviews but I had to write one for the excellent service we received at this clinic. My cat Sama broke her toe in a horrible accident on Saturday and I rushed her into Urban Animal as it was on of the very few clinics that would take us in on a weekend let alone as a walk in within the proximity. There was a bit of a wait but that was to be expected as we came as an emergency visit. The front staff and the veterinary technicians were very sweet and helpful! They answered any questions I had and took their time with me during our visit. Everything was explained to me by the veterinarian and I wanted to think about it for a few days. We ended up moving forward with a procedure at the clinic that was stressful for both the cat and I but the team was very reassuring throughout the entire process. The drop off/pick up was very quick and efficient, the pricing seemed fair to me and I was sent with a lot of information back home as well as the necessary medication. I also received thorough documentation of everything that happened throughout my visits which I personally really liked. Overall I would recommend them to anyone going in for a routine or emergency visit! P.S. I really liked that they marched the bandage and the ribbon in the collar

One the best pet clinics in Seattle. If you are a pet parent looking for low-cost, high-quality care, Urban Animal in Capital Hill is the place to go. This pet clinic exceeds all expectations, proving that affordable care does not mean cutting corners on service. Urban Animal offers an impressive level of appointment availability, including walk-ins. Urban animal has taken very good care of my cat. My cat had to have major surgery on his leg and I was worried he wouldn’t be able to walk normally ever again (they had to remove a part of his hip bone). He’s healed great, his walk is a little funny since he’s missing a part of his hip now but he’s doing great and can run/jump etc. I’ve also taken him here for getting fixed and shots etc. he always recovers great and they’ve always been very straight forward and honest about my pet’s needs and expectations for healing and costs; timeline always matches up with what they say which I really appreciate. I’ve also called them for advice when my cat was sick and wouldn’t eat and they were very sympathetic and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend urban animal for your pet needs, I trust any advice they have. I think it’s clear that they care a lot. I do recommend coming 15-30 mins before they open to have your pet seen so you don’t have to wait in line for a long time (30 mins is best).

The staff at urban animal is friendly, compassionate, gentle, and professional! I have a very shy and nervous cat, and I appreciated Dr. Erin West’s calm and caring treatment. She answered all of my questions with patience and kindness! The Vet Assistant who helped me was also so kind and gentle with my shy pet. They also try to be upfront with you about cost and I did not feel any pressure to complete tests that I didn’t want. The office and exam rooms were clean and tidy, and we were able to wait in a cats only side of the clinic. The only drawback of Urban Animal is the long wait times, but it seems like that is the case at most veterinary offices right now, so I can’t hold that against them! I sincerely recommend urban animal to anyone looking for compassionate care for their fur babies.

My 1st exp. I went into Urban Animal Capitol Hill in 3-days of tears, bc, I had Lil finances to work with. My poor cat suffered from dental need, his face was swollen, he couldn't eat, drooling, I thought he was going to die, I found some unused CLAVAMOX from my other kitty's past dental care. Where they [vet] pulled my other kitty's teeth. & it worked but still drooling took place. When I was told to bring in my kitty I immediately took him in, Vet. Bridgette Sharpe, saw my kitty, and stated her concern was his wheezing, so before the dental took place, I ended up getting my loving kitty an ECO EXAM @ $625.00. AFTER PAYING 1ST EXAN OF 500.00. NOW DENTAL CARE WILL TAKE PL, POSSIBLE ESTIMATE COST $900.00-$1500.00. my kitty's murmur was in good condition. TO further dental care.

Could not ask for any better vet. They are amazing handled my emotional call with perfection and brought my kitty in right away to make sure it wasn’t an emergency. Came a few hours later and could not be happier! They give call backs or texts so you don’t have to stay the whole time if you need to wait for a walk in appt. Everyone in there is so sweet and caring. Made amazing accommodations I could have never asked for even with prices. They truly care about their patients, are super loving, thorough and explain everything. Highly recommend and will be my new vet! If you can they also have a service where you can choose to add 15% to your cost to go towards another animal in need thank you I know this helped me as well! Nala loved them even with a thermometer haha!

  • Michael Poggenburg

My cat had a toe injury that I discovered one evening while trimming his claws. The following morning I called my normal vet and the soonest they could see him was 1-2 weeks out. It wasn't a dire emergency, but he needed care sooner than that. I called one other vet who had a similar wait time and then someone recommended Urban Animal. I checked their website and the Capitol Hill clinic had a short wait time, so I drove 30 minutes into Seattle and was able to be seen right away. The staff was unbelievably kind, the vet was very informative and gentle with my cat, and the cost of service was extremely reasonable - probably less than my regular vet would have charged. This clinic is amazing and they're doing great work!

  • Arielle Chilcote-Barnard

The vets themselves are fine. However the business as a whole is pretty awful. Our cat requires a daily medication. And this place consistently is absolutely horrible at filling said medication. It has been a month of us putting in prescription refill requests, with no answer to the requests. The last medication refill took at least two weeks of constantly calling trying to get it filled. They finally said it would be ready the next day. It wasn’t! If your animal doesn’t require medication to live then go here. If it does, consider going somewhere else that at least pretends to care about your animals quality of life. I would give negative stars if I could.

  • Sarah Kusz

Urban Animal is some of the best veterinary care I’ve used for my dog Murphy. They’ve been his regular vet for the past 3 years, and we’ve only had very positive and pleasant experiences in their clinics. Murph recently needed some teeth extracted, and due to his small size, I was very nervous about the procedure and anesthesia. The dental team at Urban Animal took such great care of him and even checked in on him a week after the procedure. You can really tell they care about the pets they see and are not insanely expensive cash-grabbing vets like other national chains. I can’t recommend them enough! You can trust your loved one in their hands.

  • Callula Patterson

My cat Pebbles had become terminally ill with a cancerous mass in her colon. Urban Animal was so incredibly supportive and gave me clear options on how to proceed with Pebs and helped me optimize my decisions without over paying. Pets are expensive and Urban Animal really cares about affordability. In the end Pebs was ready to say goodbye and it was one of the hardest things to face. But thanks to Urban Animal, I wouldn’t have wanted our last moments together in any other way. They were so compassionate and supportive. Thank you for you’re help. ❤️

  • Allison Simon

I visited Urban Animal with my dog Ethan. He was bitten by another dog and it was infected. The service was professional and welcoming. Everyone, including the front line reception were very friendly. I felt at ease approaching them. They helped to alleviate my stress, and put me at ease. The vet took good care of my German Shepherd/Mix, Ethan. They also give me advice on how to take care of my pet. It was my very first visit and they have left a positive impression on me. I, hereby recommend Urban Animal for all your pet care. Thank you.

  • Victoria Ecker

this is THE. PLACE. incredible staff, great prices (even if I didn’t have pet insurance I’d be ok here), and I always feel comfortable leaving my little one in their hands. she loves the vet, so that’s the best endorsement there is‍♀️ I’ve taken Margot here since Day 1, and she just got spayed. another great perk is that they have different locations; one time we had to go to a different location of theirs because of scheduling and it was the simplest thing since they had all her paperwork on file. we love urban animal!

  • Anna K.

Came here for a walk-in around 9am for an emergency. They did a quick triage before putting us in the wait list. We waited until 11:30am before they brought us in the room for checkup. Took another 30 mins for the doctor to show up. Then the assessment said that they don't know for sure whether the cat is injured. Another 30 mins to prep the receipt and checkout. Overall, VERY slow service, and not a lot of help. In the end, we spent 4 hours and got no new insights plus $250 worth of pain killers.

  • Ben Penwell

They do a good job of making your dog feel comfortable, but they do a terrible job at providing prompt service. 15-20 minutes in the waiting room, 15 minutes until the assistant/tech came in, then a 20 minute wait for the vet to come in, and another 15 minutes for the tech to come give the vaccine. After a 4 hour wait time (can’t check in online), you come in and it takes over an hour to get a shot. This place isn’t bad, but it could be much better

  • Christi Waters

While you might spend a lot of time waiting the staff and affordability make Urban Animals our go to if we need urgent care vet treatment. I was there yesterday and while they had a very long wait line the front staff are great at getting higher priority cases seen to make sure they are stable enough to wait or if they need to be seen asap. The staff always are so nice and respectful to all their clients.

  • Alycia Stallard

I am So thankful that Urban Animal was able to see my precious Gizmo when he got hurt. Again. They were thorough and professional. The veterinarian was awesome! I felt that everyone knew what they were doing. They did everything confidently and with great kindness. I felt Gizmo was in excellent care. The price was extremely reasonable for urgent care. This place is amazing!

  • Jason Bennett

Being my first time ever having to euthanize my pet cat (had feline leukemia and cancer). The staff are very patient and understanding and the tech was fantastic and allowed us as much time as was necessary to get through this very painful experience. Just very respectful, professional, and empathetic crew. Would totally trust another pet to their care.

  • Don Pablo

Called today to ask if they had any openings to see my dog for an ear infection. Unfortunately they didn’t have any, though the person on the phone (Roe?) gave me wonderful advice on how to keep my pup comfortable until she can be seen and put my worries at ease. She was very thorough and knowledgeable and I could tell she genuinely cares. Thank you!

  • Alexis Edmundson

Absolutely the best vet in Seattle, I called so many places and they were the only ones that were reasonably priced in all of Seattle. We went in and they were the most friendly staff, they welcomed us with open arms, answered all questions we had and took such good care of our little guy. We will be using Urban for all of our pets needs

  • Patricia Graf

Vets are very knowledgeable. We went first thing in the morning and was tills it would be a 2 hour wait, so they would text us to come when we were next. We got there about 12:30 4 people were ahead of us, 3 hours later we finally got to see a vet & get our puppy shots. If you have a full day to spend waiting then go there

  • Caressa Cleveland

Wonderful! Wonderful people that work at this clinic and they are so helpful and worked with me so much and I am so appreciative for everything that they did for me and my CocoBean and I would definitely recommend this clinic to anybody that was looking for a kind, caring, compassionate veterinarian for their pet.

  • Alex Henkel

I had a great experience here as a first time. People was really kind and very supportive. You need to be aware the whole process might take a while, but you can register for the queue and go home and they’ll text you. But this is way better than other places where you can’t get same day care

  • Sarah

I have been to two Urban Animal vet locations. Both were great. The staff are great. The clinic is clean. Parking is easy. I don't have anything negative to say about either clinic. They are the best around and I'm grateful I found them in my new city. ✌️

  • Lilly Nguyen

Ended up calling this place because it was close to where I live, but did not expect such a great service! I’ve been trying to get my puppy neutered for a while now and most places are not taking new clients. I was able to set up a profile

I've had great experiences here. They're consistently knowledgeable and caring, and I find their prices very reasonable. I particularly appreciate the amount of time they've taken to answer my questions every time I've come in.

My dog is a rescue and can be skittish, but the staff here are super friendly, and it's clear they love animals. He's never afraid to go in. Cats and dogs have separate waiting rooms at the Capitol Hill location.

  • kyle sproul

Called saying I would be arriving right as they closed with a 4 week old puppy with a dislocated hip. They said they wouldn’t help and that I’d need to contact a 24/7 vet. Every vet around me has a 7-9hr wait.

  • Andy Setlak

Really good when you need same day services and have all day free. Somewhat difficult for any type of continuing care that requires multiple visits as each visit consumes an unpredictable amount of time..

  • Parker Gandall

They take great care of my cats, and enjoy their ridiculous names. Knowledgeable, helpful, explain things clearly without making me feel stupid, and they're affordable. Plus, my boys love everyone there.

  • Ian MacLeod

One of the best veterinarians in Seattle - and they only support walk-ins, which makes it actually possible to be seen on short notice. Show up ~20 mins before they open if you want to be seen quickly.

  • T B

Lily loves coming to Urban Animal! The staff are so loving. We go for regular checkups and scripts and are always seen within a reasonable amount of time. So glad we have them in our neighborhood!

  • Ludmila Lynn

We love Urban Animal. They are always super friendly and take amazing care for your animal. I love that they have a walk in option. Also love getting reminders when my dog needs shot updates.

  • Shelley “Woody” Young

This is # 1, best veterinarian clinic to go to. Staff is awesome. They are truly here for your animals. I give them 100% because without them I would have the healthy girl's in my life.

The staff was so kind and knowledgeable. It really was a great experience for me even though our dogs would say otherwise LOL They were so gentle and thoughtful. It meant a lot.

They took really good care of my dog when she was having a hard time during a very hot week in the summer. We greatly appreciated their help and professionalism.

Excellent service! My cat wanted to stay he liked them so much. Was told it might be 2 hours but we were seen in 20 minutes. Many thanks for the sweet visit!

The Urban Animal Clinic in Capitol Hill is everything you could hope for in a vet's office. They do walk-in only and their busy times vary accordingly.

I absolutely LOVE and Highly Recommend Urban Animal!! They took such wonderful care of my Furbaby. They will treat your cat or dog with excellent care.

Very impressed by how the check in person knew both Kafka and Rumi's names without us spelling and knew who they were named after!
