"What a joke"
"Totally Incapables, they accomplished to ruin our marriage by mistaking 14pm with 11pm, visited them many times to confirm that everything was right but strangely i couldn't verify the date was right, on marriage date arrival as we knew 14pm they simply say that we missed the appointment cuz was at 11pm, they agree to complete it after all the others cerimonies just because i was furious, of course my agreement with the restaurant fell off as we arrived 2 hours later and many of my family/friends had to leave for the airport, complete garbage place runs by incompetents"
We had our multicultural wedding & reception at Lambeth Town Hall in April 2023, and Lianne & the venues team were essential in making our day a success. We explored various locations, and wanted to find a dry hire venue so that we could bring in our own catering and host a fully vegan wedding. Lambeth Town Hall provided everything we needed and was an excellent fit with our values. Lianne was very helpful by sharing options, costs & information proactively to get things underway. We asked Lianne & team many questions over the months leading to the event, and she always responded with patience & understanding. When there were limitations, Lianne quickly provided workarounds and other recommendations to help. We thoroughly enjoyed the Wedding Fair, where we discovered some vendors who we brought on for the day. All payments had to be made over the phone and sometimes this was not available - but we got there in the end. It is also a listed building, therefore there are some restrictions. Our wedding day was amazing, and we owe a large part of it to Lambeth Town Hall and the incredible team there. Our guests loved the grand Council Chamber for the ceremony (different team, but our registrar was fantastic), the Courtyard for drinks, and beautiful, understated Assembly Hall/Foyer for dinner and evening reception (perfect floor for a full-on céilí!). We had a fairly big wedding of 140 day guests, with a total of 160 for the evening, and it was lovely to see Lianne the evening of our wedding! The facilities all worked well, and the Venues team, along with our on-the-day coordinator, ensured everything ran smoothly. We would happily (would love to!) have the day all over again in Lambeth Town Hall, which will always hold a special place in our heart.
I was a regular visitor to Lambeth Town Hall (2018-22) for their monthly Ballroom & Latin Tea Dances as the main hall has a lovely wooden floor. My first visit was in 2018 to celebrate the first mixed race Tea Dance over 50 years ago in this very venue when racial tension were high, but dance was a superb panacea. Spacious, with a stage for other productions.Ground floor ladies toilets are light airy and modern if compact, with mirrors and although only three cubicles works well enough given the small Edwardian spaces allowed for modern needs. Council staff are always friendly and many's the time they've joined us on the dance floor (don't tell their boss!) It's lovely to sit outside in their secluded courtyard where people often have lunch or just gather, it's a real suntrap. Brixton (Victoria Line) is the nearest tube station being about 3 minutes away.Turn left onto the main road as you exit the station, cross to your right at the traffic lights then the second pedestrian crossing to the left at that junction (like a zig zag) and you're facing the huge building. Walk right alongside the building as our event entrance is along that road to the farthest corner.
I never get any support from the council since i moved here 7 months ago. When i asked for a wheel bin at first they said they will let me know but they never contacted me,then after writing more than 7 emails and calling them every 2 weeks for any update they said that i can't have a wheel bin because my flat is above the shop, even though i explained them that i have space to store the bin on the back entrance of the property. Accepting this fact i asked several time to have recycling bags which i never recieved, their answer was always the same, we run out of it and we will send it to you at the next delivery which never happen. I was really upset and i couldn't handle it anymore and i keep on calling them all the time losing hours on the phone waiting for the system to pass me the call, then after complaining again their answer was: THROW YOUR RUBBISH ON THE STREET and this what im continuously doing all the time while the owner of the shops on wandsworth road swear at me. im paying 110£ per month of council tax for a service i never even received. Please Help me how to sort this out.
What a joke. Out Of Hours noise teams operate only until 4am Wed-Sun. If you are unlucky to be disturbed by continous noise between 4am-9am NOONE can help you. Police will blame council for any responsibility over noise investigation. The guy who is supposed to cover Streatham area can barely speak english and the only thing he is confident about is he is finishing at 4am and that issue can ' be logged for day team to investigate'. Whether noise continous all night past 4am he doesn't care. He never picks his phone up or answers any emails. Similarly with Nationality Checking Service there is no way you can contact them or book appointment online (which you can do with Wandsworth by the way) you are given two numbers on website. One does not work, the other one goes straight to voicemal, and again no one is picking it up or returning calls. It seems Lambeth policy is to avoid computers at all times and only rely on voicemails. Appaling organizational skills. Avoid at all times if possible.

When in doubt, visit. The phones are terrible and run by Capita, So just rock up and chain yourself to a fixed asset and chant international brigade songs and you’ll be served promptly. I’ve had the privilege to have been hosted here for a do. The staff, councillors and mayor are proud of Lambeth and relish the diversity of people, creeds, languages and ideas. But they recognise differences exist, and accept creative tension that causes, as well as great wealth and poverty living cheek by jowl. It reminds me that all life is a work in progress.
Lambeth Town Hall is a beautiful place to be married in Brixton. As a wedding photographer I'd highly recommend it for registry office weddings in London. There are a choice of rooms for ceremonies and celebrations. The circular hall is the standout. Very close to Brixton tube and transport links, you can twin it with a walkabout in Brixton for some fab photographs. There's outdoor space in the courtyard for your guests and it's a brilliantly well run and friendly space. I love photographing weddings here.
Fantastic venue with very friendly staff. Excellent decoration which has very natural feeling. The building has beautifully been restored to a very high standard. The Ceremony Suit can seat up to 40 guests and it feel very spacious inside. Just outside in the courtyard there are plenty of opportunities to take some awesome photos, but confetti is not allowed at the moment. If you arrive by taxi you can ask the driver to park inside the courtyard's entrance.
Definitely get married here in the Circular Hall. Photos here are from before it was set up with chairs for guests. The stained glass is beautiful and original to the 1908 building. The marble floor is even more eye-catching in person. All of the staff were lovely, from the events team, the venues staff, the receptionists and the registrars. This is an iconic venue in the heart of Brixton and I cannot recommend it enough as a venue.
We had our wedding ceremony in the Olive Morris suite, which is accessed from the beautiful courtyard. We had a very positive experience on our day. Our ceremony was beautiful and the registrars were so warm and funny, helping us out when we were nervous. Our guests also loved it. It seems like a place where people really love their job. We had a similar experience when picking up our wedding certificate. 10/10 would recommend!
Lambeth Council, you are an absolute disgrace. Please concentrate on core services, instead of grandiose projects and social justice warrior vacuous exercises. Footpaths are leaf strewn, road gutter drains are blocked, and road surfaces are poor. Yet you spend money on LTN cameras and street parklets. 3 months, my surrounding paths have been in this condition.
Completed I908 with additions in 1938 at busy traffic intersection and now forming part of the aggregate of Grade II Listed buildings adjacent to Windrush Square. A confident building: a statement of civic pride at the apogee of Empire with an overbearing, inelegant and disproportionate clock tower with exaggerated quoins still lords it over the locality.
I lived in Lambeth for 15 months and repeatedly wrote to and E-mailed the council asking about where my bins should be put out. They never replied once, so for 15 months I just dumped my bins on the pavement, which occasionally drew angry comments from shop owners on my street. Thanks Lambeth Council.
Do it!! If you’re contemplating marrying at Lambeth town hall, book it now! From wonderful, warm and caring staff to a beautiful view! Foliage looks beautiful and they let us go back in for photo and we’re so kind and helpful. (Photos taken by @johnpaytonphotography )
15 minutes on hold getting passed from pillar to post, then when I get to the point of holding for the correct place they cut me off, gave up in the end after another 10 minutes on hold! (Male operator was rather snooty, female one was much more pleasant).
Another mafia council. Robbers... They gave me pcn for stopping on a bus lane while my car is a private hire vehicle. Unfortunately I cant appeal for some reason. So I have decided to post it here and let the other people know how you guys are.
I visited this place for a session and there were gender neutral toilets. Not impressed!!! women are part of an oppressed group and, should feel safe to use the toilet without worrying for their safety! I will avoid attending again.
Went along to Lambeth Town Hall for an appointment and was seen by a wonderful lady called Cherie she was so pleasant, made me feel so comfortable and delighted to be there. Thank you!!
Once I found the right place to go (register office is on the main road, not where all the signs say!) It was an extremely efficient and very friendly service.
Lost application & it took several phone calls for them to finally admit it. Takes ages to get past automated system to speak to real human. Incompetent.
Lambeth Council is such a vibrant and beautiful place. Friendly staff. Engaging and happy to help. A nice environment to work from my observation.
Was undergoing refurbishments so part of the town hall (registry office) had moved to Vauxhall. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Crap. Only word to sum it up. Registration of births and deaths are here and they constantly break the law on registrations.
Such a beautiful building inside. Very well looked after. I loved the glass and bridges and the mix of old with the modern.
Very calm atmosphere. Polite security staff, receptionists and registrars. Overall very positive experience.
Quick service to register baby. Arrived an hour early and was seen at that time don't have to wait.
