I am not sure what happened with this veterinary office...I suspect they may have been taken over by Private Equity recently as a couple of unusual things happened over the past year that seem very strange and counter to patient interest. 1.) We brought our elderly cat in for a Senior check up and through blood testing that was done in the office it was determined he had a high thyroid condition (despite having none of the clinical symptoms) and that he would need life long meds or a radiation treatment. We tried meds for 1 month and then had labs drawn again. We were told to immediately stop the meds as it was impacting his liver too much. Our only option was radiation treatment (a $2K-$3K procedure) at this point. We scheduled the procedure and in preparation needed to get ALL NEW testing again at a different Vet who sends all their labs out (machines that are highly calibrated, etc). This was needed to ensure the right dosage of meds were provided during the radiation treatment at a specialized clinic. Mind you, we have spent hundreds of dollars on repeated testing with Lincoln Square and now another several hundred in prep for this procedure. The vet called me super confused because the tests come back completely normal! I suspect the in office testing equipment wasn't properly calibrated. 2.) During the same senior visit, we asked about some meds we could give our cat to relieve stress during a long road trip we were undertaking. We were prescribed Gabbapenton a "super safe, can't overdose on it" med to relieve anxiety. We started with pills and they worked for him but eventually he got very suspect of the pills and we could no longer hide them in his food or treats. They told us they had the ability to compound the meds into other things like a liquid or a treat for the future. Fast forward about 9 months and we called the office to ask questions about getting the Gabbapenton in a liquid formula (we still had the original prescription AND 3 refills). We talked to someone from the office 5 times, literally 5 times about this over the course of several days. Every time someone called they thought we were talking about his OTHER medicine (the one they told us to IMMEDIATELY stop after 1 month since it impacted his liver...when I asked why was this med not removed from his chart, they responded that they can't remove medication from the records??). They also insisted that he needed to come in for a check up before they wouldn't give us a refill....(1) it hadn't even been a year since his last (2) we didn't need MORE meds, we just needed it in a different form as they told us was available. It seemed like they were more interested in getting us INTO THE OFFICE then simply giving us answers around this "super safe" medicine they originally offered. Finally, on the 5th call, the gal was like "I know you are upset but I am trying to help you"....Yes, I am upset because I quite literally don't know what is so hard or confusing about the information we were trying to gather and in the first 4 calls, no one passed along any of the notes, SO I started the whole explanation from the beginning starting from when we came in for the Senior check up (all of which should be easily visible in their records??) and why we were being given such a hard time about simply asking for a new compound option for meds he was already prescribed and had many refills on? Both of these experiences have left such a bad taste in our mouth about this place. How can their records and communication be so bad? What else are they missing because they are moving too quickly or just trying to get people to spend money on office visits? We are going back to a smaller private clinic where the customer care and personal relationship still means something. In the matter of 3 minutes calling this other office, they were able to approve an online script for the Gabbapenton in the Liquid formula we had been fighting with this office about for the better part of a week...what happened to this office?

UPDATE: After seeing this google review, the vet looked up my personal information and called me to "discuss the breakdown in communication". I feel this is a major breech of privacy and completely non-apologetic. They could have responded to my review here rather than call my personal phone. I removed another star for this reason. When we first started going to this vet, we were comforted by their Covid-19 procedures and kindness. On that front, they are okay. This negative review regards my past two visits. TLDR; this office is unorganized and has charged me for a medication I never received, misplaced my prescriptions twice, and wasted hours of my time. When filling a prescription, I called ahead to make sure it was ready. When I walked to the office, they misplaced my dog's 2 medications. Apparently one of the medications had been on back order for quite some time (they did not tell me this over the phone). The other simply wasn't where it was supposed to be. I spent 45 minutes in their office while they searched the place for my meds, consulted with the doctor about substitutions, and triple checked their systems. I ended up having to visit a human pharmacy for half the order any way. The second time, I called the day I planned on going to their office. Based on my last visit, I told them to write me a prescription for the human pharmacy because I knew the pills were still on back order through their supplier. They confirmed over the phone that everything was waiting for me. A few hours later, I showed up and they had lost the paper prescription again. I spent another 30 minutes at the office as they wrangled another vet to write me a new prescription. After I got home, I checked their email invoice and noticed they charged me for pills even though I only got a written prescription. I then spent another 20 minutes on the phone getting the false charge removed because they kept having me repeat the same information to every worker on the front desk. I want to emphasize that I was treated respectfully the whole time. Everyone was more than apologetic. I am just disappointed by this pattern of poor organization.

Dr. Mitchell, our first vet, has left but we still wouldn't take our kitties anywhere else. We brought our first cat here 2 years ago and since then we've adopted another cat from a shelter; I brought her to VCA at the shelter's recommendation but regretted not spending the extra money and taking her to Jewell in the first place. We took both kitties in today for an exam, vaccinations, and itchy ears plaguing our eldest. Our new little girl was... well, a handful. Staff had to break out the elbow-length gloves and wrap her up like a burrito just to check her temperature. Throughout the entire ordeal, everyone that came in and out of the room was professional and compassionate towards our bratty babies -- especially Melissa, who listened patiently to our concerns and even though my cat tried to maul her, you could tell she really loved animals. She handled them both like a pro even with all the squirming and hissing. She also told us upfront what vaccination would cost what - I had a problem years ago, with another cat at another vet, that obscured their prices and looked down on me for not getting a rabies vaccine for my indoor cat of 17 years of age. No such contempt here! Dr Jewell, who I had never met before, saw the end of the exam and was an absolute pleasure to meet. He identified the problem with our kitty's ears in a second and we traded pleasant stories of our pets back and forth; a nice departure from the "get 'em in get 'em out" rush of some other practices. I know our cats did not enjoy the experience, to say the least, but it was so nice to see such kind, caring people fuss over our animals. Kudos also to the ladies at the reception desk, who were super friendly to us and ours. If you are looking for a place to bring your beloved pets, you can trust Jewell to take good care of them!!

We live in the neighborhood so when we got our pups Jewell animal hospital was the most convenient but as we called and came in, it wasn’t just the convenience that kept us coming back. The receptionists and vet techs are so friendly and extremely knowledgeable- they give us comfort and advice every time we’ve been in. They even suggested we stop in on our walks to give the dogs treats and say hi so the pups have a positive association with the vet. We have never waited for an excessive amount of time. And while I’ve waited I’ve observed thier calm caring demeanor with all the patients and the friendly banter between all the staff. The doctors are phenomenal as well. They are so honest and caring. We’ve bumped into Dr. O’Conner on the street at least a month after our appointment and she made a special point to walk our way and ask us about things we’ve talked about during our past appointments. Dr. Jewell encouraged us to get our new puppy socialized when we first got him and everytime he sees our pup he picks him up and takes him out of his comfort zone just to get him accustomed to new people. They are honest about what we need to do and a timeline of when we need to do it. Like “wait a day and see if her symptoms subside before coming in- this is normal, or let’s start with a blood test and some vitamins that you should buy from amazon/pet store and well test again before we need to try anything more intrusive.” When I told them we were going to get our dogs spayed and neutered elsewhere because we wanted to do a laser surgery instead of traditional they encouraged it because of the benefits of laser, noting they hoped to get the laser soon. To summarize they are friendly, professional, honest and overall the best experience I’ve had at a vet. I’d recommend to anyone.

My experience at Lincoln Square Animal Hospital wasn’t awful but it just didn’t cut it for me. I’m rating 4 stars because I believe the vets here definitely know what they’re doing, but the actual interactions were not comforting at all. The staff I’ve come into contact with were very short and seemed to treat every conversation as an inconvenience (before COVID, I understand why some can be short during these times so that’s not what this review is referring to). I’m pretty sure they forgot about me in room for about an hour waiting for a check up that took less than 10 minutes. The vet that looked at my kitten told me what her problem was likely being caused by and told me I’d have to go somewhere else for the surgery—didn’t recommend anyone. My mind is all over the place, I’m starting to panic because I’m not sure what my options are. I asked how much this would likely cost and she just threw out a ballpark number of $2-3k. More panic. I asked what my options were in the meantime since I can not afford to do that right away and she basically ignored the question. Every time I contacted them to get a refill for meds, I felt guilt tripped and lost as to what to do. They made me feel like a bad person for not immediately getting this surgery. I’ve switched vets now and am much happier with where I currently am because they seem to not only know their stuff (which y’all definitely do), but ALSO are very kind, understanding, and affordable. They immediately gave me recs for specialists but emphasized that there’s a plan for making her comfortable and healthy in the meantime while I gather the funds to do the surgery.

I loved this place when it was Jewell, but I've sworn it off for 2 reasons: 1. years ago, they told me that my cat had kidney disease and REALLY drilled in the idea that we caused it despite our efforts to get her as much water as possible. They had us buy prescription food and everything. Well, several years later another vet informed us that our cat DID NOT AND NEVER DID HAVE KIDNEY DISEASE! We spent YEARS feeling absolutely terrible. I cried over it and felt like an awful person. 2. also at the last visit, we saw that my cat had gained 2 pounds, bringing her to 11 pounds total which is in the healthy range for her size, slightly above average. well instead of just mentioning it and maybe giving some advice, the vet GRILLED me about why she gained weight- (looking so stern she almost seemed angry): "what's going on at home? too many treats?" me: no, we don't even really have treats... vet: "are you sure? cat's don't just become overweight on their own..." This really freaked me out. I was genuinely worried this vet was going to try and take my cat away or something. It had my heart racing as I tried to convince her that I would adjust her diet. I started going to VCA Ark after all of this and they've been absolutely fantastic.

It was my first visit, and we ended up needing to put my cat down. Even under such an awful circumstance, my experience was wonderful. I could say a lot about it, but I will just leave it to a few points - Clean and comfortable environment Techs were super sweet and helpful. Had us laughing a few times as well, which was appreciated. We saw Dr Kerins, and both her and the tech that helped my cat were WONDERFUL - start to finish. When they finally discovered what was wrong, she (Dr) broke the news to me directly, but gently. She answered all my questions and spoke to me like she was a friend, not a doctor. Euthanasia rooms are private and have a nice couch. They took care of the financial business before the procedure, so we could leave right after. Affordable overall (office visit was $65). We had planned to do some expensive bloodwork on my cat, but when they found the issue, they decided to forgo and being her back in to us. They could've easily taken the panel and charged me for it. Overall, really happy, and should I find a new pet, I will definitely come back.

I adopted a pet during pandemic so my first interactions with Lincoln Square Animal Hospital were outdoor handoffs and phone/email. This is my first pet and the responses from the clinic staff as well as veterinarians have been timely and helpful. I recently was able to attend an in-person appointment and had a great experience with everyone in the clinic. I was nervous and had many questions, and was able to get the answers and reassurance I needed. The vet tech let me know suggested tests and their costs, as well as the option to decline, before anything was done so I could have an idea what the visit would cost before seeing the veterinarian. On my way out of the exam room there was a chill cat laying on a counter who liked getting pets and at the reception counter there was a friendly dog who liked saying hi- it was a very cute and reassuring experience. Since this is my first pet, I have no other vet experience to compare Lincoln Square Animal Hospital to, but I am very happy with my experience with them both remote and in-person.

I really can’t speak highly enough of this office. Everybody from the front desk to the techs to the vets are incredibly kind and compassionate with both animals and humans. My cat is not exactly the easiest patient, she tends to get really aggressive with vets, but the team is always so understanding and patient with her and does everything they can to get her all the care she needs. Like I said they’re also really great with people. Today when I was here there was a technical error with my estimate and my bill came up $100 more than I was expecting, which was super stressful for me as I was no longer going to be able to make rent next week. The team was able to fix it for me and I really can not be more grateful, seriously. This reminded me of the good in humanity and the kindness of strangers. To the tech who helped cover my bill today; thank you SO much I am eternally grateful. I didn’t catch her name but please go into my file and give the tech who saw me today a raise!! She deserves it!!!!!

I found this gem on google, I already had a basic vet but my miniature schnauzer had bladder stones and needed care my vet was not able to provide. I am so very happy with the experience here..Dr. Czekala and the entire staff was so nice and welcoming from the moment I walked through the door. The doctor found that Roxy had a bladder full of stones and needed surgery sooner than later. She explained all of my options in detail and even provided estimated costs for the surgery at a couple of places that offer low income pricing. She was so awesome, made me feel so confident and comfortable and I decided to just proceed with her performing surgery the next day, yesterday. What a comfort it is knowing your pet is in great hands. Surgery was a success, the staff was amazing with the follow up information and just the genuine care is more than I could have asked for. They even called this morning to check up on us! I think we have a new Vet for our fur babies..happy (and relieved) momma here!!

It was the first time that my cat, Katie, had been out since she was adopted. Normally very sweet, she was very angry when I started to put her in her carrier. Twenty minutes later, my daughter helped me corral her, and call the vet to say I'd be late. I had several scratches that bled but I tried to cover the 6 blocks as quickly as I could (I am 73 years old). It took me 6-7 minutes to get into a room and the first thing the vet tech said to me was Since you're so late, we'll have to do a shortened appointment". It had been for 9 am and it was now 9:20. I was upset and told him that surely they had a little flexibility in scheduling. But apparently not. He, Daniel, was rude and went to talk to the Medical Director and asked me to leave. I am a former Management college professor and could have given pointers on the customer service blunders made. I hope this vet has more empathy to the animals since their service does not include empathy to humans.

I can't remember the last time I wrote an online review, but I am so grateful for Lincoln Square Animal Hospital I wanted to take the time to share my experience. After a stressful middle of the night emergency vet visit with my 16 year old cat, I was looking for a new clinic closer to my apartment to figure out what was going on with her health. The vet's always been a stressful experience for her, so I was apprehensive about having to take her in for more tests and diagnostics. I shouldn't have worried--the staff here has taken the time to get to know her and give her lots of love every time she comes in. She's visibly calm and happy when she leaves, a complete first for us. It's never easy to have a pet grow older and develop the health problems that come along with age, but LSAH has been thorough, proactive, and incredibly compassionate throughout the whole process. I'm so glad we found them.

Im not one to write reviews! But i absolutely love this place!!! They all are so friendly from the minute you walk in! While waiting you can choose from refreshments if youd like. The rooms are so cute and cozy decorated to resemble a living room!! Which i absolutely love!!! Since vets can be stressful for dogs, especially mine hes a bulldog and gets nervous. They help ease everything with treats and peanut butter for your furry friend! Also offered me something to drink. the vet finally came to examine my dog and treat him for his ear infection he and his tech did an amazing job handling my dog! They definitely love what they do there!!!! And the animals they see!!! I have been to shady vet offices before where i didnt believe a word they were saying. So this was definitely refreshing. Although im hoping i dont have to be there often this is for sure where i will continue to go.

I found the veterinarians to be thorough, but the front desk to be disorganized as other reviewers have described. This summer, my cat was having some urinary issues that required testing at another animal hospital and I had an extremely difficult time getting my cat's records from Lincoln Square to the other hospital. First Lincoln Square told the other hospital that I had made two appointments but hadn't shown up for them. This was obviously not true as I had just paid Lincoln Square several hundred dollars to run tests on my cat. Once Lincoln Square transferred my cat's records, they told the second hospital that she was on medicines that they had never prescribed to her. This just added more stress to an already stressful time. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience here.

  • Kylie Beaudreau

Such a great experience! Took my cat Mokey in for a poop issue a couple months ago. Since Covid: I had to sit in the car and wait for her to get checked out, which was stressful for me. When the vet called to give me the report, she made me feel comfortable with everything that was going on. She gave me great details about the visit and helpful tips to keep Mokey healthy. Went back last weekend for annual checkup, and shots. Again, they were awesome. The drop off, communication, billing, and pickup were so easy. Mokey scratched me pretty bad through her carrier and the woman who took her in, brought me out a paper towel with antiseptic to clean the scratch. Extra effort was very appreciated. I’ll keep coming back here. Great crew. Wonderful communication. Happy kitty.

LSAH has been my vet for the past 3 years, I am very happy with the service I get and the prices. I took my 2 cats in for their annual exams and vaccines on Monday this week. The process was very easy and smooth. I parked in the back and called to check-in, the technician then came to pick the cats up, the doctor then called me to let me know how the cats were doing, then the technician brought my cats back and I received another phone call where I gave my card information for payment. The technicians were wearing masks and gloves when they came out to the parking lot, I felt very comfortable with the whole process. The staff and doctors are all very nice and I even received a follow up call from them today. I really appreciated that.

Don't go here unless you like to throw money away. My cat needed dental surgery and Dr. Jewell suggested all his teeth needed to be removed for $2000 due to a hereditary disease. I got a second opinion after this huge price and I am so glad I did. It turned out that only about half of my cat's teeth needed to be removed just because they were rotten. It had nothing to do with some disease. The doctor I used showed me scans from cats with that disease and my cat, even I could see the difference. I am horrified that my cat could have lost all of his teeth for no reason. It seems this hospital is much more interested in taking my money. They also heavily encouraged me to get vaccines that I didn't want to get for my indoor cat.

Please take your pets to a different vet. As a new customer, I was made to feel as if I were inconveniencing their staff. I was rushed and felt as an afterthought. They made it their mission to get me out of there as fast as possible. They lost my pets bloodwork and called a week later to see if I even wanted to come back to retrieve an additional sample for something I had already paid for. Nothing was done to correct this. No apology or was never notified to return to this vet for their yearly checkup. My pet unfortunately passed away for something that could have been cured/detected, had the proper procedures taken place initially. If you value your pets health and well being you are advised to go elsewhere.

  • Ryan Sheridan

Moved to the area so switched vets and could not be happier. Friendly staff, fair pricing, direct and not pushy techs and Dr’s, and the random biggest takeaway was the “living room” style approach for their exam rooms. The rooms are large, but the couches and general feel of them is so less “sterile” or cold feeling despite being impeccably clean. In addition to the above and to the staff’s credit and flexibility, called in a pinch with an ASAP request before the holidays which is always tough to accommodate and fit me in that day. Look forward to my return visits, albeit hopefully more infrequent than restaurants I tend to write about, but am glad I’m going here if it ends up turning out that way.

  • Maria D. Pirotte

I transferred here when I moved to the neighborhood from a vet we really loved and have been really pleased. Staff is very friendly, the vets we have seen are very common sense and don't try to push treatments on you or image unnecessarily. I bring my cat here for nail trims because he tries to claw me three ways to Sunday and they are always super quick with him and sometimes will let me come back with him bc he is a true terror with nails but they handle it like champs every time. I also bring my elderly dog here and we have discussed bloodwork options for her given her age. It's very easy to get an appointment there, prices are reasonable and the staff has been nothing but great for me!

  • Mary Ann

Fine in a pinch. It's too bad the Vets aren't as caring as the rest of the staff. I'm sure they are adequate for minor issues, but they're not skilled enough for complicated cases. Their prices are high, the expiration dates for medications are too short and they'll nickle and dime you for everything. It's definitely a business first. UPDATE 7/8/19: In looking back on my experience with them, I have revised my rating to 3 stars. I am not in the profession so it's unfair for me to judge the skill level of the vets there. Yes, the staff at the desk was wonderful and the doctors were friendly. Now that they are owned by someone else, it may be worth the time to revisit.

  • Kay Mastrocola

Incredibly pleased with this vets office! We just moved to the city and adopted a golden retriever from a neglect situation and the vet staff went above and beyond to check into his old records and make sure he was up to date and healthy. The office space is clean and inviting. It doesn’t feel medical and loved the couches in the office that put my buddy at ease. Our vet tech was wonderfully through and offered insightful education and communicated effectively with the vet. Also prices are incredibly reasonable and they cared about my financial well-being asking if I’d like an estimate and to talk payment plans if needed. So happy to have established care here!

  • Samantha Robertson

Scheduling and dealing with the front desk employees is a nightmare. After calling first thing in the morning because my dog has a obvious ear infection, I did not hear a response on whether they could squeeze her in for a few hours. When they did finally call, they said they could squeeze her in at four thirty. I left work early to grab my dog and when I got there, they said my appointment wasn't until 5:45, and I would have to wait. They were rude to me, like it was my fault that they told me the wrong time. This is not the first time I've had scheduling problems or the staff handle it in a very rude fashion. Go elsewhere and save yourself the headache.

  • Rebecca

Dr. Czekala is fantastic, always compassionate and takes the time to really address the issues we’re having. My cat has had some severe GI problems in the last year and I thought I might lose him, but her treatment has gotten him to gain weight back and perk right up. She is very upfront about pricing before doing any procedures, and never pushes for something that may not be necessary or in his best interest. The staff is super friendly and helpful every time I call, and they’re open until 5 on Saturdays which is great if you can’t get there during the week. I’ve been to some really shady vets in the past, but I can’t recommend them enough!

  • Jamie Thompson

Had a great first visit experience (even during COVID) with our very anxious rescue pup. The protocol for check-in, triage, and check-out were seamless and handled well over the phone. I also love how easy it was to fill out new patient paperwork online and the follow-up texts I received on our dog’s lab results. The tech who cared for our dog was very understanding of his behavior. Dr. Bennett was also kind and answered all of our questions and concerns thoroughly. She provided great recommendations to help our dog’s anxious behavior too. We are looking forward to keeping Lincoln Square Animal Hospital as our dog’s primary care provider.

  • Holly Tajak-Edlund

I have an english/american bulldog mix who has her share of mild to moderate health issues. Dr O'Connor has been seeing her for the past 6 of her almost 11 years and is extremely thorough in explaining the various issues, the mechanics and biology, and non-invasive treatments when possible. She takes the time to get to know the pet and obviously the owner through a very keen sense of listening to what might be going on in the dog's environment. Dr O'Connor's communication skills are outstanding. During Covid, the staff has gone above and beyond in taking all the extra steps to care for pets and their owners. Always a very good experience.

  • Gina Colaluca

Pixie (female dog, pitbull/boston terrier mix) and I had our first visit last week with Dr. Courtney Vercauteren. Our visit was wonderful. Pixie is a rescue and has only been in my care for a few weeks. The staff was very understanding that this was Pixie's first vet appointment and that she might be a little anxious, confused, and excited as a result. They were able to give her two vaccines without any issue. You can tell the staff loves their jobs and loves interacting with the animals. We have a follow up appointment in a few weeks for a booster shot and I think Pixie will be excited to go back.

I am so thankful for the vets and staff at Jewell Animal Hospital! I found them when I moved to Chicago with my elderly dog at a time when her health was beginning to decline. Dr. Czakala did an amazing job caring for her and helping orient me to the best ways to care for her while also being conscious of the increased costs I was facing. When my dog's life came to an end, the staff at Jewell were so caring and professional and I even got a sympathy card not long after. I can't say enough good things about the Jewell team! When I'm ready to have a new pet, I know exactly where I'll go for my vet!

  • Kylie Beaudreau

They got me in quickly. Gave great instructions about how to pull into a designated spot for someone to come grab kitty to take her in. Cuz COVID. I was uncomfortable letting my pet go inside without me. Staff called me with updates as the process moved forward. It was honestly a great experience. The vet stayed on the phone with me for 10 minutes to answer any questions I had and tips to keep my cat Mokey safe and healthy. Mokey came back into the car very calm. I was surprised. Love this place. I will be back. Prices were great. Communication was amazing. Thank you so much for everything.

  • Gabby T

This place is a disaster! My aunt took her elderly cat here and had two rookie vets overlook her cats dire health issues. She ended up getting a correct diagnosis from an ER vet that said in the records it was an "obvious" puncture wound from a dog bite that caused 4 broken ribs. She ended up having to put her cat down since her cat's condition had deteriorated so terribly. They basically killed my aunt's cat. The office manager was horrible and rude to her too. She spent lots of money there only to have her cat be misdiagnosed twice!! Do NOT take your pets here!!!

  • h s

I am writing this review while waiting for tests to come out ... when they brought my dog berni back to the room, I've never seen him this happy ... he loves the way he gets treated by the staff, they are super friendly &knowledgeble (btw my dog is over protective & he occasionally bites people) not a single time he had even barked at the staff .. there are a lot of vets around my house but I would rather take a cab and come here ...I feel much safer :)) I've just posted my mini poodle pic , you can see the treatment through his face expressions , he is so happy .

  • Rebecca Cox

I LOVE Dr. Vercauteren. She's upbeat, compassionate, thorough, and seems to just genuinely love animals. The other vets I've seen there are also solid, and the techs are also so kind (my cat... ahem... befouled the room at our last visit and they were so so so kind about it). Love them. I even moved about 20 min away and keep coming back because I love them so much. I actually was a client of the former vet practice in the space before it was bought by the current owners, because I lived so close, and it is SO MUCH better as Lincoln Square Animal Hospital.

  • Beth Ford

Caring, friendly, knowledgeable animal loving staff (and I've been to some vets where you start to wonder why they work with animals). Clean and comfortable large waiting area, so if you have a skittish pet, you can find a quiet space. Appointments run on time, but you dont feel like you are being rushed out to get the next appointment in. Have never had to use emergency services from them (don't know if they offer them, but if they don't or they're limited go to Blue Pearl in Skokie - they are awesome in times of stress and trauma and are 24/7).

  • Erica Miller

Maybe they're better for dogs? I took my cat here and they seemed to be unable to treat a simple ear infection that they later said was due to allergies, but they couldn't tell me the cause of supposed allergies. They also didn't bother having me bring him in a second time after completing the treatment to see if the the treatment they prescribed was actually working. I would have appreciated more direct communication from the vet during my follow-up calls, as well. Good, friendly service, but I decided to go with a different vet.

  • Gina Alberga

Wonderful! This was a recommendation from our neighbors and I'm so glad we listened to them. The office is inviting and the staff is friendly and patient. If your pet has to have a special procedure done (in our case a tooth extraction), Dr. Jewell and his team will walk you through all of the steps of the procedure, break down the cost components, and provide you with clear instructions on how to care for your pet after the procedure. Dr. Jewell and the staff at Jewell Animal Hospital do an amazing job.

  • D Wilson

Very friendly and responsive vets and staff. The vets gave me thorough assessments and advice for one of my cats. They were available, provided in-depth communications and accommodating (fit in my sick kitty for a last minute issue). Most importantly they’re very kind and supportive. Also when the vets called me to discuss pre and post procedure they were not rushed and answered everything and gave me very helpful advice and instructions. Strongly recommend their services.

Lincoln Square Animal Hospital is WONDERFUL! They will try their absolute hardest to help your sick pet and will work magic with their schedule if they can, because they genuinely want to help your pet get well. The vets and technicians are so professional and friendly and they invite any questions you might have, and they make sure you’ve got all the information you need before the appointment ends. I’m so relieved to have them looking out for my cats!

  • Meredyth K

Lincoln Square Animal Hospital is amazing! They have not only provided the best care for my dog, they have continued to treat me with patience and grace when I get anxious about procedures and illness. I have an 8 month old puppy that they have been seeing since he's been 8 weeks old. I have a healthy and happy puppy in no small part thanks to them. Charlie actually gets excited when he sees we are at the vet! I would recommend them to anyone!

  • Tori Ulrich

I have a very nervous, anxious, and skittish rescue dog -- all made worse by going to the vet. At my most recent which included needing a blood draw, some vaccines, etc. the staff was so patient and gentle with him and also patient and gentle with me as I made sure to ask all the questions I could think of. The couches in each of the rooms is such a great way to make each room a bit more comfortable for us and the pups. Highly recommend!

  • Elisa Yousett

The doctors and staff clearly care about every pet that comes in to their offices. I've never met a vet more loving and understanding. They saved my cat who needed an emergency surgery and walked me through all the options of payment to help me find a way I could actually afford it. They also understand the different personalities of pets and never mind that my cat refuses to go into a carrier when coming into the office.

  • Becca Richmond

I chose to bring my dog Cruz here because it’s close to my apartment and I have been so impressed by them so far! They took the time to learn about Cruz as much as possible before coming in, so our appointment went seamlessly. You can tell that everyone who works here truly cares about every animal that comes in. Special shout out to Katie for being so thorough when setting up our appointment, you are amazing!❤️

  • Allison Epstein

The staff at LSAH take great care of my cat! Mina is not a happy camper at the vet, and everyone here is always so patient and gentle with her so it's as low-stress as possible. They're wonderful about explaining things as well. I was nervous about having to give Mina asthma medication, so one of the vet techs sat with me for half an hour showing me how to do it. I absolutely trust them with my little girl.

  • Monica Acevedo

I'm so greatful to this place! My poor dog was limping and in pain. Because of Covid nobody wanted to see her. Another office gave their name and I'm so happy I called them. They gave an appointment for the following day and I got the best service ever! Dr. Bennett explained in detailed what was wrong with her and how to fix it. I'm keeping them for life. I will recommend this place to anybody! Thank you !

  • Yessenia Cruz-Lopez

(First time dog mom here) my dog who I just got couple days ago had surgery yesterday (sprayed/neurter) I don’t know what to expect but freak out for the littlest things . I called today and spoke to someone (don’t know his name) and he gave me some advice and some relief. I really appreciated him for listening to me and his talk made me calm down a little! Can’t wait to go there when my dog gets better :)

  • Paige Worthy

Our first vet, Dr. Mitchell, has left, but our two cats still receive wonderful care from all the staff at Jewell. One of our kitties has been sick quite a bit since we adopted her, and they've been nothing but fantastic in looking out for her. The women at the front desk always call to check in on the cats a few days after a visit, just to see how they're doing. Neighborhood treatment!

  • Mark Tower

They have been my veterinarian for the past seven or eight years. I like them a lot. Very pleasant people and the veterinarians seem to really care about the animals and that's important to me as they are important to me. I suggest them to my friends all the time and that should tell you more than enough. Take your pet here when he or she needs the care and you won't be disappointed.

  • Aldo Huitzil

I think the underlying vet is great; but the staff is very unorganized. You communicate one thing to them, and it's never properly communicated to the right person. They neglected to administer key vaccines for my puppy..twice. Very unprofessional and organized. Had I not caught their mistakes, my puppy would be without needed vaccines. I wouldn't take your dog here.

  • Amber Rosalez

I’ve only visited once and so far it’s been a good experience. I went for an annual check up for my cat. Nice facility, staff was friendly and kind to my animal. I do wish I would have been verbally told the vaccines would make my kitty lethargic and poor appetite the next day but it was on the paperwork so I figured out that she was ok after reading through it.

  • Jeff Odenweller

Our 3 senior cats are recent new patients. Their prior DVM was with another hospital, but she moved away. We had struggled to find a new DVM until Lincoln Square. I was very pleased at the level of focus on their patients and thoroughness of care that my cats received. Each of them is on a customized care regiment to support their individual senior issues.

  • Leigh Leigh

The Staff AND the Vets are EXCELLENT! Always warm, kind and snuggly with my cats and anytime I call with an issue or just a simple question, they follow up IMMEDIATELY! I have NEVER seen such a fantastic Vet staff EVER! They go out of their way to help and as long as I live in Chicago, I will not take my furry babies anywhere else. …

  • Andrea NYS

It is a bit expensive but the care they give is impeccable! Update 2022 : they are amazing over and over again. Got in on a Saturday for my pup’s emergency with no appointment , from the front desk staff to the amazing doctor and lovely nurse i wanted to hug everyone. It is really nice to know these people actually care . Thank you .

  • ola omni

Worsest pet clinic!!!!! Doctor didn't even came to look at my cat without appointment..I was crying because we needed emergency assistant. my cat passed away..we lost time in this clinic... Doctor of this clinic does not have right to be named a PET DOCTOR... He is indifferent person without doctoral honor and responsibility!!!!!!

  • Paul Fitzgibbon Cella

I am used to getting pushed out of doctors' offices by overworked MDs under pressure to meet patient quotas. So I was pleasantly surprised when Dr. O'Connor kindly and patiently answered all my questions. It felt like I was the one racing out of the room. Very friendly staff all around. And all in a great neighborhood. Thank you!

  • Akia Taylor

Lincoln square animal hospital we're very patient understanding when it came to my dog magneto at a later doctor appointment and I called them because of a urgent care for my dog and they took him right away I am very very grateful for what they have done for him and I like how they are very precautious during this covid time

  • Matthew John

I have to admit I am very dubious when it comes to bringing Bella to a vet. But this was a great visit. The staff were excellent and the Vet spent a good amount of time explaining and educating me on what was going on with Bella. They were also very clear and upfront about costs, which I am so pleased I have found out vet...

  • Laura Elizabeth Herrera

So far our experience has been great with LSAH. They’ve been able to accommodate us last minute for emergency situations which we are appreciative for. Our dog did need surgery back in 2022 and the staff cared for our dog like if it was one of theirs. We’ve had nothing but positive experiences with LSAH. Highly recommend.

  • J Con

I’ve used Lincoln Square Animal Hospital for 7 years: for 2 cats and 2 dogs. dozens of interactions. They are very easy to connect with and make appointments and they respond quickly on issues. The front staff is professional and helpful and the vets have been excellent. Very happy with my experience here.

  • Tom L

Clean facility. Very courteous reception staff. Was very impressed with the care the technician and veterinarian gave our sick cat. Loved the offer to do quick blood work and wait for a few minutes to talk about the results with the vet -- have ever had that offered to me before. This is our new vet!

  • Stephanie Blatt

Love this place! The team is so friendly and helpful and all they want to do is take care of your fur babies. Dr Vercauteren, Katie, Stephanie and Yuica, were fantastic with my boys and no one was upset when Elwood opened the cabinet above the sink and jumped in - twice! We will see you next year!

  • Daniel Post

Great Veterinarian! Been taking our pups here for years. Always friendly and helpful. Answers simple questions on the phone. Takes the time to explain everything to make sure you understand the treatment for your pet. Clear instructions always provided. Would recommend this vet to any pet owner.

  • Lala D

You can tell all the staff at Jewell Animal Hospital truly care about animals. The reception staff are always so welcoming and helpful and the technicians and doctors are very knowledgeable and go the extra mile to answer my questions! Seriously the best animal clinic I've ever taken my pet to.

  • Brian G

I had a very poor experience bringing my 2 cats here. Is it maybe more of a dog place? The general vibe of the staff makes your presence in the office feel like an inconvenience. They certainly take advantage of the high income level of the surrounding neighborhood too with their pricing.

  • Marchetta Genis

Took amazing care of my cat and explained all of her test results and needs to me thoroughly. The staff is gentle, kind and trustworthy. I’m used to waiting for test results at other vets but they were able to give me the results of her blood and urine work at the end of her appointment.

  • Nicole N

I came here for a second opinion. Dr. Czekala genuinely cared and took a lot of time with me, giving me a list of options for my cat without any pressure. My experience here led me to feel valued and I will now be making this my primary vet for my two cats. I would recommend this clinic.

  • Mark Partain

Dr. Vercauteren and the staff at Lincoln Square Animal Hospital have given my dog the best care I can imagine. They are always so responsive and thorough, and make me feel like my dog is the most important girl in the world. I can't recommend Lincoln Square Animal Hospital enough!!!

  • Max Hester

Lincoln Square Animal Hospital is the best. We have taken our pup there since she was 8 weeks and every time the care has been fabulous. Everyone I interact with was so nice and professional. Thank you for always taking our phone calls and also for caring for Fig so well.

  • Liz Aviles

My cat Daisy has been a patient here for several years (formerly Jewell). The entire staff is very caring, responsive, and I'm always impressed with their follow up. We hope to be able to accompany Daisy in on her visits as soon as the threat of COVID wanes sufficiently.

  • Megan Gissing

Have been taking my dog here for several years. Vet repeatedly does not follow up with information about text results, to tell you when medication is ready to be picked up, is rough with my dog when she is examen. I would go to any vet before taking your pet here.

  • Kelly B

The office is clean and inviting. The staff is kind and the bill is always broken down well for services. The veterinarians and technicians go above and beyond to explain procedures and prescriptions and options so you know you are receiving the best care possible!

  • Brent Ervin-Eickhoff

So grateful to have LSAH in our neighborhood. They take excellent care of our cats, are thoughtful, thorough, and caring. Everything you could ask for from a vet, and have been going the extra mile in answering phones and doing drop offs during the pandemic.

  • Jamie Payne-Miller

Such amazing and kind staff at Jewel. My dog loves to go! They make us feel comfortable and like they truly care. I have had to use the 24 hour emergency vet and another facility for surgery and did not have the same experience. Jewell is truly special!

  • Mabel Mosquera

Took in a stray and brought her here to get checked if she was healthy /pregnant. told me she was healthy just underweight. 1 month later she gives birth to two kittens. Needless to say I can't recommend this clinic and I will not be coming back.

  • Destinee Pavia

I'd never let anyone just take my pup without me being around, but even over the phone they made me feel super comfortable and well informed. They took great care of my dog and let me know what was happening every step. Amazing service 10/10

  • Clar Sarangay

This animal hospital is awesome! We’ve had my dog check ups and her teeth pulled here. They have always been responsive, provided updates, and made sure to follow up days after her procedure. Would recommend this facility, hands down.

  • Claire Walsh

So great, they took excellent care of my cat Chester and followed up via email a week later to check in on him. Gave some great tips on how to help with his sneezing and anxiety, really great staff. Definitely his new animal hospital.

  • Evelyn Ranney

The employees here are so nice. We brought in a stray dog we found and they were able to scan his microchip and get a hold of his owner within minutes. We also bring our own dog here and they are so gentle with her. Highly recommend.

  • Octavio Z

Been here a few times for my 10 yr old border collie and they are always great. The doctors always take their time to explain what is going on with my dog and the options. They have always gotten back to me quickly with lab results.

  • Martha Youkhana

Dr.Anna Czekala is very caring with our cat. She is very knowledgeable and always pleasant to talk to. We are also pleased with the staff. We live on far south suburbs but we find it worth to come to Lincoln Square Animal Hospital.

  • Eduardo Guardia

I've been taking my pup to LSAH for a couple of years now and I'm very happy with them. The staff is friendly and attentive. The few times that we've had an emergency, they were very responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend!

  • Eugene Bruber

After at least a decade of exemplary care for all of our cats, Jewell helped our eldest cat in her last hour of need. Dr. Czekala and Jen were professional and respectful. They allowed her to pass at home with dignity and care.

  • Jim Hamilton

Most friendly, knowledgeable and generous people ever! Lily what is sick earlier this week and, after speaking with them, I felt much better and took corrective action. Needless to say she's doing just fine now. Terrorizing me

  • Luis Orduz Lopez

Excellent place to take your pet if you need any diagnosis or vaccine. Stephanie is the best person in the front desk, she will help you with everything u need. The vet personal are amazing and will take care of your pet.

  • denise murk-uvena

So these guys. They seem knowledgeable and have great techs. There are couches in examining rooms which definitely seemed to help relax my sidekick and bf, Trent the shorgi of all shorgies. It is a scosh wallet emptying.

  • Scott A. Hillman

A friend recommended Lincoln Square Animal Hospital to me when I got my dog 2 years ago. Every time I’ve gone we have gotten great service and my dog has had good care. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a vet!

  • Stephanie Schroeder

Sometimes they pass your pet off so many times, you don't know who did what with them. It wasn't like this when Jewell still had the hospital in his name, I hope it's only a one-off that they have since taken care of.

  • Tiffany Brandt

We took our 9 week old puppy here to establish a vet, and it was great! They are still using the curbside appointment process but it was quick and easy. We talked to the doctor on the phone, and paid over the phone.

  • Janine S.

Highly recommend LSAH. Went in for a check up. Everyone that my pup and I interacted with was very friendly and personable. They gave great advice and we got an amazing welcome goody bag for my pup. Excellent care!

  • Matt Allerton

The staff here is very friendly, and they take very good care of our puppy. They also assist with making sure our pet insurance claims get filed each visit, which saves a lot of hassle for my girlfriend and I!

  • David Angel

My dog isn't exactly friendly with strangers, but always behaves well with the staff at Jewell. They know their animals, and have been awesome at helping me submit my ASPCA pet insurance claims.

  • Catherine Bensinger Graves

As clients, our entire family is very satisfied with the professional services our pets receive as patients of the Veterinarians at LSAH. Their Techs, Assistants, and Admin staff are also Aces!

  • Angelika Friedman

Wonderful neighborhood animal hospital. Everyone is caring and very professional. My pup’s exam was thorough and her vet took considerable time explaining everything. Poppy says thank you too!

  • David Finseth

Really high quality care for pets and dogs alike. Great employees work here who will take care of your pets as if they were their own. Slightly pricey but definitely worth it for what you get.
