I would 100% reccomend Lipscombe Larder for the BEST cheesecake makers. Whom are also very accommodating at such late notice too. I was recommended by my cousin ( A tiny bit marvelous) as I was in need of a cheesecake at super late notice. She advised give these guys a buzz and they will look after you. After checking their website (which I found a lot of flavors to choose from) I gave them a buzz. I spoke to a really nice lady on the phone (younger) and she assured me that would be fine (considering I needed it the following day.) When I got home, I soon noticed that there was a glaze over the cake in which I contacted Lipscombe and asked about. They reassured me it was to keep the cake moist etc. Everyone at the birthday dinner loved your cheesecake. It was fluffy, smooth and not over powering. You guys are 100% my go to for a cake in the future. Thanks for making my experience with you guys a great one!

Got bad customer service from DIANNA, she never acknowledged me, when I went to pay. I said hello ,she ignored me and said nothing. I had ordered a cake and told her, she seemed upset that she had to go and get it? Upon returning with a box I asked her can I see the cake ,she Dianne became annoyed as she had to open the lid of the box. Most customers will want to see want they are paying for. I asked Dianna a question about a food item, she ignored my question, avoided eye contact and asked for the order total. Dianna ruined what otherwise had been a good shopping experience. If she doesn't want to work at world of food, she can join the line at world of welfare centrelink

I work in a motel in Battery Point and often recommend Lipscombe Larder to guests and family / friends of guests that want a cake or hamper etc for room - everyone is always extremely happy with products. If I want an unplanned cake I always go straight to lipscombe larder, they are so helpful and cakes delicious, fresh and look amazing, of course when visiting you can’t help but buy lunch and some extra Tassie produce to pop in the fridge the variety is overwhelming in a good way

I have bought many special occasion cakes from Lipscomb's Larder and they have been wonderful especially the Ferrero Rocher cake. I wanted a Croquembouche recently for my birthday party and Anita was fantastic listening to my needs and making great suggestions for my cake. It was ready to pick up at short notice and spectacular! My 60 guests were wowed. I felt so lucky to have such a lovely cake that was a great hit and absolutely delicious. Thanks again 5

Sadly, my daughter had purchased our 50th Wedding Anniversary Cake made at Lipscombe Larder, after many people saying how good they were. She ordered the largest cake a Raspberry Mudcake with Chocolate Ganache, it looked spectacular, but that's where it ends. The cake was almost raw ,uncooked & had at least 2inches of icing covering it. It was inedible for 50 guests & had an overwhelming Raspberry essence through the cake. Absolutely disappointed & embarrassed.

Just happened to stumble across this place during our (very short) stay in Hobart. Totally impressed by the eclectic mix of gourmet foods from across the world, coupled with a variety of freshly baked goods and also a good selection of Tasmanian wines. Not to mention how blown away we were by such old-fashioned and intimate service. Vanilla slice and mocha cakes were brilliant and if we are back in Hobart we will absolutely return. What a find!

Ordered a caramel mud cake for a special occasion. Received a white chocolate mud cake. Cake was almost impossible to cut. So hard and dense. Ribbon of undercooked cake mixture through it. Stale and dry. Overcooked at the base so it was like a hard biscuit. I was so embarrassed to serve my loved ones with this. No one could eat it so my son did not have an 18th birthday cake. It cost over $60. Appalling.

Absolutely gorgeous! The selection is next level. I was doing a bit of work at the beach and came here for lunch. My gosh, i bought the chilli, lime and teqhilla(!!) Olives- it was literally a party in mouth Later i bought a bunch of cake to take home, so damn good. Highly recommended!! (Also, they do THE best blueberry muffins here. Honestly the best I've ever had )

Huge amount of products in one place this is pretty much a quality one stop shop that has meal options curry, pastry ,cakes, slices savoury and sweet , all types of meat ,coffee bread's list goes on only bad thing I found to be honest was really weak coffee. cake samples were perfect and prices are pretty good for what they have on offer.

Great deli with really good quality food. If you wanna have a beef pie which actually has lots of beef in yummy sauce but not a load of starch - that is a place to be. Fabulous cakes, yummy tarts, good selection of kinches and many many more. It’s also worth noticing a dejection of great quality seasonal veggies and fruits from Tasmania.

Love the cake range to take my housebound 93 year old Aunt. The Tiramisu cake is one of her favourites! The GF vanilla slice is a great addition to the cake fridge - love that I can buy something other than orange and almond cake (it was the bane of my coeliac existence for so long!). Thank you for thinking outside the box!

I recently ordered a $150 Meze platter with the intention of catering for 11-12 people, there was just enough for about 10. I was very disappointed with the quantity and quality of foods, presentation of the platter and general value for money. It's a pity as the food at Lipscombe Larder is usually of a high standard.

As a family of 6, we have celebrated every special milestone with a cake from Lipscomb Larder. All of our Birthdays, 10th, 18th, 21st, 30th, 50th etc. For each of us, always producing a Wow. But this birthday, our youngest turning 30 was no wow at all. No effect was made. It was very disappointing …

Lipscombe Larder is my local food store. It has a good range of local and imported foods both fresh and processed. It bakes a range of breads and specialty cakes. There are also takeaway items including hot and cold options and a range of deli foods. Newspapers and magazines are also available.

  • Juliette Toussaint

We usually order and love your cakes for a long time. but this time after we ate Tiramisu , and other cream bread only bite a little pieces. then our family have symptoms including fever and chills for the whole afternoon and the night. I'm afraid it's caused by salmonella.

  • Tony Roberts

Excellent selection of fine foods, sauces, preserves, wines, meats, desserts. Always visit at least once whenever I'm in Hobart. I get most of my supplies from here when I've organised dinner parties. Haven't found anything as good in Victoria/mainland Australia, yet.

  • Luke Barron

The Lipscombe Larder is a brilliant little delicatessen. It has a wide range of deli meats, olives, sushi, Greek pastries, as well as supermarket goods. A great place to do the weeks shopping, or to pick up a meal for the night if you want to eat at home.

  • Joseph Nunn

They have an excellent range of local produce. The deli has some delicious artisanal products on offer. They also sell hot foods such as curries at the back counter for fairly reasonable prices considering the quality and portions they provide.

  • Elliot Jackson

I needed a bespoke hamper made for some family with some food intolerances. The service provided to make the hamper was simply astounding and the effort put in to make such a nice hamper was just so appreciated. 100% happy customer. Thank you!

  • Walter van Praag

Always delectable. Cannot pass this shop without getting something. The fresh bread is wonderful, halopena or dutch fruit bread, sour dough or finnen loaf.... Even the salted peanuts here are a cut above the rest. Must visit. Easy parking.

  • J J

Tasteless cake (cheap chocolate and inferior ingredients), pastries tasted of vegetable shortening (not homemade) Cakes are not fresh. Owner could not care less when I tell him my problem. Go to Pigeon Whole or Jean-Pascal instead!!

  • Em

If I could buy multiple loaves of their gluten free bread and ship them interstate, I would! A lovely delicatessen with fresh, quality items; can't wait to pop in when I'm next in Hobart. Service is always prompt and friendly too!

  • ANKITA DUTTA

Though the cakes are tasty but cant enjoy it as most of the frosting goes here and there in the paper bag, the packing is very inappropriate, usually pastries are convenient to carry in a box…just wonder why a box is not given!!!!

  • Teresa Everett

Great food options. Local produce and products. Good value medium size ashgrove oysters $12.95 a doz. And king island brie 450g $12 or $14, cheaper than other vendors. Lots of fresh deli meats, pies, quiches, salads, fish and meat

  • Nicole Hodgkinson

Highly recommend the cakes and sweets. Their cakes are decadent and devine. The detail of the cakes have them looking to good to eat but once you get the scent of the sweetness there is no holding back.

  • Alice Curtain

Lipscombe Larder is a wonderful store that always has friendly staff and great produce. Whenever we need something, whether it's fresh bread or a decadent dessert, Lipscombe is always there for us.

Lovely shop and so much variety in a small space. Prepared food, butcher, baked bread and cakes and lists of fruits and veges. So many options you'll find everything you want for a delicious meal!

  • Michael Nguyen

Great little store. Full of unique food and samplings across the board from breads to pasta to fish to fruits and cakes. I can only speak to the quality of the lamingtons and they were great.

  • José Navarro

Now known as Blac Fig - beautifully presented but felt smaller when compared to the previous iteration…same amazing gourmet selections as well as some cool new lines. Be prepared to spend $$

  • Matthew Dilnot
