At the University of Texas at Austin, the Littlefield Fountain is a famous landmark that represents the splendor and spirit of the university. Visitors are captured right away by its sophisticated style and serene atmosphere. The Italian Renaissance-inspired fountain, located in the center of the campus, attracts attention with its dominating presence. The falling water produces an inviting soundscape and a captivating visual spectacles as it flows elegantly into a little pool. The fountain honors UT students who died while serving in World War I and was given to the university as a gift by Major George W. Littlefield in 1933. It stands as a monument to their remembrance and the Longhorn spirit. The fountain, which is surrounded by lush plants and big oaks, . It serves as a meeting spot for parties and special occasions, displaying happiness and producing many unforgettable memories. Anyone visiting the university grounds should stop at the Littlefield Fountain, which will leave a lasting impression in their memories.

Because it's part of the 40 acres and I despise TU. Whatever they want they get at the expense of the town, then the developers, then City Hall, then the wealthy, etc, etc. Run of the mill citizens will need a 2nd job or rent controls to be able to stay here. Austin deserves what Bastrop got a few years back, and San Francisco experienced in l908. And since the Texas University has a bovine animal for their mascot, maybe Catherine "Cate" O'Leary and Chicago circa 1871 would be more appropriate. Karma speaking hypothetically of course.

Iconic landmark of the University of Texas at Austin, and where the graduation ceremonies are held. Sometimes the fountain has water, but not all the time. Sometimes the horses spout water, sometimes not. If you're a photographer, you probably would want to scout out prior to planning your session there. It's a peaceful place to read a book or study, or just relax.

I spent a good time admiring the fountain sculpture cast by Pompeo Coppini in the 1930's and while it was supposed to be a monument for the Confederate cause and ended up being dedicated to the soldiers of WWI, it nonetheless displays tolkienesque accents with allegorical figures riding horses in frozen movement. It took an Italian sculptor to display such mastery.

This monument was erected to honor the "Sons and Daughters of the University of Texas" who "gave their lives to their country" during World War I. Beautiful monument to remember the sacred sacrifice by those who fought for freedom from tyranny and oppression.

Beautiful fountain at UT. This is a popular and pretty iconic location to take pictures on campus. You'll find everyone from graduating seniors to tourists taking pictures. It's also right below South Mall which I would recommend checking out if you just want to chill out and relax.

  • Gurvinder Singh

Beautiful experience. Allows you to have multiple vantage points of the city and its offerings such as the tower and capital. The display at the fountain is to behold. Enjoy!

As a photographer I love the Littlefield Fountain. It provides a beautiful spot to take photos on the south lawn, the people in the area are friendly, and there's lots nearby to do photos with. Parking is limited so you should get that in mind. More

Nice area to walk for a small bit. The WW memorial was so hidden, you would have walked right past it without realizing.

This is a classical and historical fountain accompanied with a little bit scary status. However, when walking along with them, you are able to feel glorious history of the University of Texas at Austin. Always keep calm and love longhorn!

Nice fountain in the heart of UT's campus. If you're wandering around the University, the area surrounding this has some picturesque views of drooping trees, old statues, and the famous tower.
