Continuing my quest to hit every small Mexican and New Mexican joint in ABQ, I visited Los Felix on a quiet Friday afternoon. It's a sizeable place but was mostly empty at this time of day. My waitress spoke little English so we did the old restaurant dance muddling through each's respective languages. We made it work! The chips were hot and right out of the fryer. The salsa tasted fresh and was pretty spicy. Not too chunky, more liquidy if that's your style. I ordered the Red Chile lunch plate with beans, rice, and corn tortillas. The food took about 5 minutes to arrive, and when it did it looked fantastic. Big chunks of pork and a deep red aromatic Chile sauce. (see picture). I will say, after tasting it, I did find it to be a bit under seasoned. The red Chile was decent, but a little plain, maybe a 6/10. No bitterness (good) but also not a lot of smokiness or saltiness, very little sweetness. Honestly just a little bland. The meat, while generous, was also only lightly seasoned. It didn't seem to be marinated and was a bit tough. The beans and rice were excellent. And don't get me wrong, the food overall was pretty good, but it didn't strike me as among the best I've had in ABQ. But it is definitely a local business and I'd be excited to come back and try a few more things. If I spoke more Spanish I might have asked more about their specialties, so maybe I'll bring someone else along next time who can help. If you're looking for an absolute slam dunk, then Los Felix might be a bit inconsistent (Rubens has my favorite red Chile plate by far) but the food was definitely good enough to give it a try and find something you like!

I went here cause I was really in the mood for a street taco from the food truck and I couldn’t find one… so I walked in to Los Felix and ordered 3 soft Carne Asada tacos to go. They didn’t sell individual,so I had to buy a plate with rice and beans for $12. The beans were pretty good bit the rice was super plain, the tortillas were average, the meat was tough and over cooked. But mostly the lettuce was your standard iceberg style with washed out unripe tomatoes instead of the diced onions and cilantro that tend to come on the street tacos from the truck. Overall it left me very unsatisfied. A few days later I got street tacos from an actual taco truck, 4 of them for $8, and they were twice as good. All of that to say I wouldn’t recommend this place. Keep driving.

Excellent food, friendly staff - unfortunately we went on a Sunday afternoon & they were hosting a very LOUD karaoke during the 2-8 pm timeframe, which I found out later is a regular activity there. So unless you enjoy eating with extremely loud music & pedestrian off key singers, don’t go on a Sunday afternoon-evening. I encouraged staff to update their website info to warn folks of this. Again, the food was great, but the loud bar scene music ruined it. The staff were very polite & apologized for the inconvenience. I highly recommend this place for any day but Sunday.

I had the ground beef enchiladas with Christmas chile lunch meal. The restaurant was not busy, but it took about 20 minutes to get my take order of one meal. The waitress/cashier spoke no English, and she seemed unprepared to handle a customer that did not speak conversational Spanish. The food was very good and the prices are very reasonable (the meal is shifted in the photo, but that's me not them). I highly recommend this restaurant for some good basic food.

i moved to abq just a few months ago and ive been around a lot of mexican restaurants but..this one was by far my favorite. i ordered the tacos and the chicken was not dry at all, very juicy and appetizing. the restaurant was also super clean,and the staff was friendly. my brother ate with me as well and agreed that it was the best mexican restaurant here in ABQ! this place needs more love, 10/10 recommend!!! the only thing i would recommend more of is more heat,the heat was a little mild but other than that,amazing.

This place suffers, other than the food. Yes, the food is good, but the service & mentality of management leaves A LOT to be desired. Been there twice; first time, outside of bringing our food, the servers didn't bother to come check our table periodically, so I left no tip. Tonight, the soda fountain wasn't working. I didn't want to have soda without refills, & told the server. Her manager informed her I could pay the bottle price or drink flat soda from the machine. I walked right out & I'm never going back.

This is the go-to place if you want some delicious food and friendly service. I think that more people should come to this restaurant because it seems like there is no better place to get really good Mexican food in the area. Everything from the salsa and ceviche that are brought out when you sitdown to the entrees was very fresh and flavorful! I will definitely bring my friends and family back here for years to come. Come on down and see for yourself how delicious the food is, you will not be disappointed.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was rated well so we decided to try it. We called our order in for pick up. The gentleman who took our order could not understand English so a woman spoke up as well and completed taking our order. Well it was still incorrect and when my daughter went to pick it up, he argued with her that it was correct. We decided to just share the two meals three ways. One out of the two, (the stuffed sopapilla plate) was not edible. So disappointed.

I ordered enchiladas. Do you know how they arrived? Some shredded chicken partially wrapped in a cold and soggy tortilla with no sauce, and the best part? Loads of unmelted shredded cheese. We ordered fried ice cream, and again. The best part? Broken and cold churros with melted ice cream. This place is a joke. Horrible presentation, nasty food and not sure what the heck they think they sent me but it isn't Mexican. Never again. Don't recommend.

Honestly, i would rate them a 4.5. presentation was great. Food tasted amazingly good (for what we ordered). We did go in on a Friday at 7:35 pm and location was empty, so it did throw us off. I didn't give them a five simply because we haven't tried more of their menu items. However it is on the pricey side but the proportions are generous. It is a must try with a clean and quiet environment.

This place never disappoints. The food is always savory and delicious. The service is prompt and friendly. We ordered enchiladas tonight with an assortment of meat and chile and they were all amazing. I was full and still wanted to eat more. The portions are generous, even with the lunch portions. The beans and rice have top shelf flavor. You can tell this place takes pride in what they do.

I ate a plate of enchiladas !! I won’t come back !!I did check my bank account and I was charged double!!! She took advantage of my card !! So I went back and talk to her ! She just gave me what she owes me out of her own pocket !!

This is my first time at this restaurant and let me tell you it won't be my last. The food here is absolutely incredible. If you leave this place hungry it's not the restaurants fault it's yours. The picture below is our meal however go to the website pictures of their menu and it does not lie one bit their pictures match what they serve.

Was in town for one night and wanted to try an authentic local Mexican restaurant, this did not disappoint. Food was great and large portions. I was so happy not to have to deal with crowds or waiting in line since the balloon festival was that following day.

Los Felix is an unassuming destination. Simple sign, off the street, in a strip mall area. But if you judged it but any of these things, you'd be making a mistake. The service and the food is magnificent, the chile is wonderful (flavor wise, as a native I would love to see some hotter options) and the price to portion ratio is good.

Don’t usually give 5 stars but we were very impressed with this little place! The waiter was very nice. We had good vibes in there. Very relaxing. We had breakfast. The coffee was great and the food was even more impressive! Delicious! The prices can’t be beat! Now I want to checkout lunch and dinner! Please visit this little gem!

I had shredded brisket Tacos they were good my husband had Camarones Rancheros the shrimp was really fishy and our Tio had beef tacos the Carne was to Tough for him to eat. For $50 we expected better

My favorite place in town. Wish it was closer to my house, I would be there 3x a week. The food is ahhhhh-mazing. Service was okay, we got charged for 'water'... and no, it wasn't bottled water.. so that was a first for me at a restaurant. But the great food was worth it and we'll be back again and again.

Not sure what to say about this place, didn't get to order because they were busy trying to set up a table for 18 people and they totally ignored me. I'll dress up as a Mexican next time If there is a next time. The staff was overwhelmed and rolling their eyes because they finally had something to do.

Was craving tacos. Couldn’t find a nearby taco truck so my fiancé and I stopped in here. Got tacos to go for Monday night football. Delicious! Great fish tacos great carne tacos very flavorful and big. friendly staff. All around a great experience. We will be going back to check out more of the menu.

Love this place! Me and my mom go here every time! Anyone that should bother asking what's a good Mexican restaurant but serves really good food at a good price? Well they should try Los Felix! (Seriously, their food here is really good, especially, well in my opinion, the carne asada burritos).

I'm telling you! Most people don't get the concept of good food coming from small hole in the wall restaurant's. This is one of those kind of places. Location is not the best but the food will keep you coming back! I include a pic of my wife when they delivered her choice this evening!

I like places that aren't chain restaurants. The food wasn't great. Chicken enchiladas were good with green sauce.. ground beef wasn't great. Very hard to talk with waitress, but we did ok. Wouldn't go back.

Tasty mexican food with friendly staff. We went at lunch time during the week and had the bistec ranchero and the dinner entree enchiladas. Everything was fresh and hot and tasted good. Definitely will be back to try even more from their expansive menu.

Food looked old and reheated. Waiter brought out instant coffee. He asked me if I wanted over hard pancakes. I asked for scrambled 3x. Even in Spanish. I still got over hard eggs. Not going bk

Great authentic Mexican food at a great price. Very generous portions. Complimentary ceviche on saturdays and sundays. It was delicious and fresh! Great service! Glad we decided to stop in and try it. We will definitely be back!

Really good food and HUGE plates even on the lunch portions. They don't skimp on the fillings and everything was well flavored. They don't have margaritas but they do have beer for those of you who like to drink with your meal.

This fabulous little hole in the wall is actually like hitting the jack pot...we didnt even know it was there...the service was great...the food was wonderful and fresh and it is actually a lot bigger once u get inside

The food here is fantastic. I can't understand how places like this aren't busy but chain restaurants are. This is a hidden gem for sure. Not sure why it's not busy all of the time. Definitely worthy of your business.

Meh...the food seemed to have no seasonings what so ever. The proportions were good, just use lots of hot sauce and drink a few extra beers.

Food was good, girl sat on her phone right where we could see her and let our drinks dry up and salsa run out. Had to find her sitting on an ice chest hiding when we went to eat out. So I dont care either.

Driving through... googled good Mexican restaurants. Los Felix came up.. the best carnitas... service was excellent.. my hats off to the chef.. I will definitely recommend this place...

I ask for a carne asada burrito and it was awful, it was more like boil meat instead carne asada, no flavor at all. I cant really recomend this plase to any body Im really desapointed.

I ordered fajitas this was the worst fajitas I have ever had. I don't even know what cuts of meat this may have been dog may have been cat I just don't know. But I will never go back.

I really like this place. I feel comfortable here. Service has always been excellent. The food is like someone is cooking for you instead of the masses.

Came for tamales but they were out of them. The Carne Adovada was really good. The pork was freshly made and the sauce was flavorful but lacked heat.

All of our employees regularly head here for lunch! The food is delicious, the employees are friendly, and the restaurant is SPOTLESS.

I had the best fajitas quesadilla of my life here. The steak was so good and seasoned just right. My partner and I love this place.

Great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A hidden gem of sorts, Los Felix has awesome Mexican food and a great little atmosphere.

I have been there three times. Never have been disappointed! Excellent food filling at a reasonable price. Staff friendly.
