I really liked my experience at Makki Masjid. The women's side was quite small though. And when I was pointed to the "wudu station" by a man, it was actually a bathroom with a large puddle and a used mop in it. Also, I was sad to see that the only books on the women's side were Arabic-only Qurans. No tafsirs or other books. But it wasn't overall very bad. They were quite welcoming here. :) I was trying to look for the library but I was unable to locate where it would be if a library did exist. (I love to read books in the libraries of various mosques personally.)
They will keep looking you bcoz you say Aameen loudly. They dont allow kids and yell at them. These are one of the most arrogant old folks I ever came across. They need to consider management change and improve it. Even in tarawweh Salah they don't give chance to young hafezs but those old folks lead tarweeh and makes hundreds mistakes, astagfirullahi rabbi. May allah giud them and remove arrogance and ego out of them.
Beautiful masjid. Great Imam with beautiful voice to listen while standing behind during namaz. Two story building with a full finished basement, all the floors are used during the namaz, so that covers almost 250 to 300(aprox) musallis. It has a big parking lot. Two zumma times, one zumma happens at actual makki masjid and another at MEA(Makki Education Academy) building which is very next to masjid.
Bad at service, communicating, and getting back with messages on social media and Via telephone. Is not clean, has a smell. I tried to enter the women's section for prayer time but the door was not opened, I had to stand outside for half an hour, and still, no one came. I felt very upset and offended. It is even more upsetting because it is the month of Ramadan.
Beautiful masjid in Southwest Houston. Friday (Jumah) khutbah is particularly great. Try to get there early for Friday prayers since space is limited and the masjid gets packed very quickly. The Shiekh is a superb individual and keeps it very real in his sermons. Khutbah is very relatable and on point. You can stay afterwards to ask any questions as well!
Bad at contacting, is not clean, there is no room, the fruit that is placed for the women section is old and it smells disgusting. Does not pick up the phone, or have any source of support, does not update their websites and social media feed. I went to this Masjid once and did not feel comfortable, safe or welcomed.
I went to Chicago for a visit during ramadan. I was looking for a mosque for prayer, then I found this mosque. The dinner they served after iftar was heavenly, pakistani brothers were so much welcoming and kind. May Almighty bless them for their hospitality, they serve iftar everyday in Ramadan.
When I call and message Makki Masjid, I receive no response. The masjid is not kept clean. The women's section is small, only 2 rows at most! It is very uncomfortable trying to pray too because there are cameras in the women's section, you don't even have privacy.
Al Hamdulillah.. It was a very brief visit but it looks good. Nice and neat. It was a pleasure to meet some brothers from my own clan in such a far away place.
Wonderful neat and clean mosque.I really love to go here for Salah.
